Melo Zapier integrationAutomate Melo with Zapier.

The Melo Zapier integration gives you 1 trigger, 0 actions and 1 search. The trigger is instant: a new real estate advert that matches your criteria reaches Zapier at once, and the search pulls matching properties into any Zap you build.

Overview

What the Melo Zapier integration is for

Melo gives you access to real estate data. On Zapier it does two things: it starts a Zap whenever a new advert matches the criteria you set, and it looks up properties that match given criteria so a later step can use them. Melo only reads data here; nothing is written back.

An alert for every advert that fits. New Advert fires when a listing matching your transaction, property types and maximum price is created, so your team chat or inbox hears about it right away.

A running list of the market. The same trigger can feed a spreadsheet, one row per new advert, which gives you a log you can sort and share without opening Melo.

Context on demand. Search Properties returns properties matching a transaction, zipcodes, property types and publisher types, with an option to keep out listings whose price does not look coherent.

What Zapier does not do with Melo: there is no action at all, so a Zap never creates, edits or removes anything in Melo. Everything the Zap produces lands in your other tools, and the only Melo steps you will ever place are New Advert and Search Properties. If you also work with Make, see our Melo Make integration page; for the broader choice, see our Make vs Zapier comparison.

Vocabulary

Zapier words in one minute

Eight words come back all over this page. Here they are, once, in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for that event and nothing else.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, in Melo's case always in another app.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully; your plan counts those.
Polling vs instant
Zapier checks a polling trigger on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app itself the moment the event happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something that already exists in an app, so the steps after it can use what it found.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action, a filter or a search makes it one, and it needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Melo Zap really costs

Melo is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan. You pay in tasks, and the Melo trigger itself never produces one.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps
  • Steps per Zap on Free2 (one trigger, one action)
  • New Advert trigger0 tasks
  • Premium appNo

Watching for new adverts costs nothing, however many arrive. Each action that goes through counts once, and an action that fails is not counted. Since Melo has no action, the tasks are spent in the other app: one message or one row per advert. The free plan stops at two steps, so adding a filter or the Melo search makes a multi-step Zap that needs a paid plan. The grid below is how often Zapier checks a polling trigger; New Advert is instant, so it does not apply to it.

Connect

Connect your Melo account

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. A dialog with a search box opens: type Melo, then pick it from the list of results.

  2. 02

    Sign in to Melo

Click Add connection. A tab opens on Melo: sign in with the account your Zaps will use. You need an account on Melo before you start, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  3. 03

    Grant access

Allow Zapier to use the account. The connection is saved once and every Melo step reuses it, so the trigger and the search in any later Zap pick it up without asking again.

First Zap

Your first Zap: alert the team about adverts that fit

GoalEach new Melo advert that matches your criteria, and passes one extra condition in a filter, is posted as a message in your team chat.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap, pick Melo as the trigger app and New Advert as the event, then choose the Melo connection you made earlier.

  2. 02

    Set the criteria

Fill the required fields: a Title for the search, the Transaction, the Subscribed Events, a Price Maximum and the Property Types. Activate is optional.

  3. 03

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the connected account, so you can see which details an advert carries.

  4. 04

    Add a filter

Click the plus icon, add Filter, then set the field to look at, the rule and the value. Pick a number rule for numbers, a text rule for text.

  5. 05

    Add the message, test, publish

Add your chat app with its send-message action, map the advert details in, test it, then click Publish. The filter makes it a multi-step Zap on a paid plan.

Triggers

Melo trigger

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in Melo, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Advert

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new advert matching the given criteria is created.”

Starts a Zap each time Melo creates a new advert that matches the criteria you set in the step: the type of transaction, the property types and a maximum price. Its required Title field is described as the title of the created search, so give it a name you will recognise.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
you want to hear about listings under a price ceiling without refreshing a search yourself, and send them to your chat or a spreadsheet.
Watch out
five fields are required, including Subscribed Events and Price Maximum, so settle your criteria before you build. Adverts created before the Zap was switched on never come through.
Searches

Melo search

1 search step looks for data that already exists in Melo, so a later step can use it.

A search step reads data that already exists in Melo and passes it to the steps after it. In the list of events, searches sit at the bottom under SEARCH. Three settings decide what happens when the result is not the one you expected.

1

Search Properties

Search

In Zapier“Return properties matching given criteria.”

Returns properties that match the criteria you give: transaction, zipcodes, property types and publisher types are all required. Coherent Price keeps out listings whose price looks off. Furnished is optional and comes with no description, so check at the test what it changes.

When to use it
a Zap needs comparable properties for a given area before it writes a summary somewhere.
Watch out
more than one property can match, so set the multiple-results option on purpose, and check at the test what comes back.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap and skips the steps that relied on it. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
This box turns a search into a find-or-create. Melo offers no find-or-create variant and has no action, so its search only reads.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Keep the first match, which is the default, stop the Zap, or hand every match on at once.
When it breaks

When a Melo Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to Melo and lists no limit specific to it. The cases below are the ones that hit every app.

Here are the general limits to know for a Melo Zap. If yours misbehaves for another reason, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.

  • No backlog

A Zap only reacts to adverts created after you switch it on. Listings that already existed are never picked up, and moving them is a separate job.
  • Flood protection

If a large batch of adverts arrives at once, Zapier can hold it back with its flood protection. It is a Zapier safeguard that applies to every app, not a limit set by Melo.
  • Search that stops the Zap

On its default setting, a Search Properties step that finds nothing stops the Zap there. Switch on the no-results option if the next steps should still run.

FAQ

Melo Zapier integration: questions

01Is the Melo Zapier integration free?
Yes. Melo is not a premium app, so it works on Zapier's free plan, which gives 100 tasks a month and an unlimited number of Zaps of two steps each: one trigger and one action. A New Advert Zap that posts in your chat fits in that. Add a filter or the Search Properties step and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. Melo, for its part, is not reserved to paid plans or free trials, unlike premium apps.
02How many tasks does a Melo Zap use?
The New Advert trigger costs nothing, and neither does watching for adverts. What counts is each action that succeeds afterwards, in the other app: one message per advert in a two-step Zap, two tasks if you also add a row to a spreadsheet. An action that fails is not counted. Each advert that reaches the action step is one more task, so test the criteria before you publish. The trigger is the one step that is always free.
03Is the Melo trigger real time?
Yes. New Advert is an instant trigger: Melo tells Zapier the moment a matching advert is created, and the Zap starts right away whatever your plan. The interval grid, 15 minutes on Free down to 1 minute on Team and Enterprise, only covers polling triggers. In the editor, a Zap on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt, and the type cannot be changed from Zapier. Nothing waits for a scheduled check, even on the free plan.
04What does connecting Melo to Zapier take?
An account on Melo. You connect it once from the Apps page with + Add connection, sign in in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. You also need read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. Then have your criteria ready: the trigger requires a Title, a Transaction, Subscribed Events, a Price Maximum and Property Types. Subscribed Events in particular is worth reading at the test.
05Does the New Advert trigger create something in Melo?
Zapier only says this much: the required Title field is described as the title of the created search. Nothing else on the integration page explains where that search appears or what happens to it later. So pick a Title you will recognise, run the test, then look in your Melo account for a search under that name and check that its criteria match what you set in the step. If you find nothing, check the field again at the test.
06What if the Melo operation you want is missing?
Then this integration does not offer it. The Melo page on Zapier shows the current list of operations, so check there first. The list read for this page holds one trigger, New Advert, and one search, Search Properties, with no action, so writing anything into Melo is out. If your goal is to react to adverts or read property data, those two cover it. If not, see whether another automation tool covers that step for Melo before you build.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Melo?
Judge on criteria, not on a ranking. Coverage first: on Zapier, Melo brings one instant trigger and one search, so compare that with the Melo operations of the other tools. Then the size of your workflow: the Zapier free plan stops at a trigger and one action. Finally, who maintains it: a tool your team already knows is easier to keep alive. Whichever you pick, the operations available for Melo set the ceiling.
