Moovly Zapier integrationAutomate Moovly with Zapier.

The Moovly Zapier integration gives you 0 triggers, 1 action and 0 searches. That single action, Create Video, turns data from another app into a video built on one of your Moovly templates. The Zap always starts somewhere else, then hands Moovly the content.

Overview

What the Moovly Zapier integration does

The Moovly Zapier integration lets another app order a video from Moovly. A Zap (the automation you build on Zapier: one event that starts it, then the steps that follow) takes data from that app and passes it to Create Video, which renders a video from one of your Moovly templates.

Three results people go after. Videos from a list: each new row in a spreadsheet becomes a video built on the same template, so a batch of personalised clips no longer means a batch of manual edits. Videos from a form: a new response feeds the template, and the video exists without anyone opening Moovly. Videos you can still polish: with the Create a project option of Create Video, Moovly also keeps a project next to the rendered file, so the video stays editable on the Moovly platform afterwards.

What Zapier does not do for Moovly: it cannot start a Zap from Moovly, because the app has no trigger on Zapier. Nothing in Moovly can set a Zap off, not a finished render, not a new template. There is no search either, so a Zap cannot look up an existing video or project. Everything beyond creating a video from a template stays inside Moovly.

Picking the automation tool is a separate decision. See our Zapier review, then our n8n vs Zapier comparison.

Vocabulary

Seven Zapier words, in plain English

The page uses each of these terms. One line apiece is enough.

Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it. With Moovly, it lives in another app.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you. Create Video is one.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completed successfully. Your plan's allowance counts those.
Polling trigger
A trigger Zapier checks on a timer, asking the app for new items at a fixed interval and keeping only unseen ones.
Instant trigger
A trigger the app reports itself: it calls Zapier the moment the event happens, so nothing waits for a check.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes one, and it needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Moovly Zap costs

Zapier bills tasks. The trigger in the other app costs nothing; each Create Video that succeeds costs one task, and one that fails is not counted.

  • TriggerNever costs a task
  • Each Create Video that succeeds1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only
  • MoovlyNot a premium app

The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each capped at two steps: one trigger, one action. A row that becomes a Moovly video fits. Add a filter, or a second action that shares the video, and the Zap is multi-step, which needs a paid plan. Moovly is not a premium app, so it is available from the free plan. Since the trigger sits in another app, the interval grid below applies only if that trigger is a polling one.

Connect

Connect your Moovly account to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open Apps

In your Zapier account, open Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your Moovly account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Moovly step you add later.

  2. 02

    Choose Moovly

Search for Moovly in the dialog, pick it and click Add connection. You need an account on the app, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow

Sign in to Moovly in the tab that opens, then grant Zapier access to the account. Moovly then appears as an action app in the editor; it never appears as a trigger app.

First Zap

Your first Zap: a Moovly video for each new row, then a team alert

GoalWhen a row is added to your spreadsheet, create a Moovly video from a template, then tell your team in chat.

  1. 01

Create the Zap and pick the trigger

Start a new Zap and choose your spreadsheet with its new-row event. Connect the account, then test: Zapier brings back the three most recent items so you map from a real row.

  2. 02

    Add Create Video

Add Moovly as the action with Create Video, select your Moovly connection, then fill what the step asks for with the row's columns.

  3. 03

    Decide on the project option

Turn on Create a project if you want Moovly to keep an editable project next to the rendered video. Then test the step and read what came back before going further.

  4. 04

    Add the chat message

Add your team chat as a second action and build the message from what Create Video returned. A second action makes this a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan.

  5. 05

    Publish

Publish the Zap to switch it on. Each new row from then on produces a video and a message, and uses two tasks when both actions succeed.

Actions

Moovly action

Moovly gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create Video

Action

In Zapier“Creates a video from a template”

Builds a video from one of your Moovly templates, filled with the data the earlier steps carried.

When to use it
you produce the same kind of video again and again, and only the text or details change from one to the next.
Watch out
the Create a project option also creates a project in Moovly, which keeps the video editable there; leave it off if you only want the rendered file.
When it breaks

When a Moovly Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to Moovly and lists no limit of its own for it. What goes wrong comes from how Zaps work in general.

These three cases are the documented ones for a Zap that ends in Moovly. For any other case, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.

  • Older rows never become videos

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Items already in the other app are not picked up; turning that backlog into videos is a separate job.
  • A big import gets held back

When the trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back.
  • The same row will not run twice

On a polling trigger, Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen, so the same item does not start the Zap twice.

FAQ

Moovly Zapier integration: common questions

01Is the Moovly Zapier integration free?
Yes. Moovly is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan, which gives you 100 tasks a month and an unlimited number of Zaps. Each Zap on that plan is limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. A trigger in another app followed by Create Video fits exactly. Adding a filter, or a second action such as sharing the video, turns it into a multi-step Zap that needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a Moovly Zap use?
One task each time Create Video succeeds. The trigger in the other app costs nothing, and a Create Video that fails is not counted. A Zap that turns every new row into a video uses one task per row. If the same Zap also posts a message in your team chat, it uses two per row, because every successful action is counted on its own. A few apps and actions take more than one task.
03Is Moovly on Zapier real time?
It depends on the app that starts the Zap, because Moovly has no trigger. The Zap starts in another app, then runs Create Video. If that app's trigger is instant, the Zap starts the moment the event happens, whatever your plan. If it is a polling trigger, Zapier checks on a timer: every 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise. A lightning bolt in the editor marks an instant trigger.
04What do you need to connect Moovly to Zapier?
An account on Moovly, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. In Zapier you open Apps, click + Add connection, search for Moovly, sign in to it in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. You also need a connection to the app that starts the Zap, made the same way. Each connection is made once and then reused by every step that uses that app, so a second Moovly Zap needs no new setup.
05Can you edit a video Zapier created in Moovly?
Yes, if you ask for it when building the step. Create Video has an option called Create a project. When it is on, Moovly also creates a project alongside the rendered video, and that project lets you keep editing the video on the Moovly platform. When it is off, you get the video without that project. Decide before publishing, then check the result of the step test. The template itself is always prepared in Moovly first.
06What if the Moovly operation you want is not there?
Then Zapier does not offer it for Moovly today. The Moovly page on Zapier shows the current list, and right now it holds one action, Create Video, with no trigger and no search. If you wanted a Zap to start when a video is ready in Moovly, there is no event for that. Anything other than creating a video from a template has to be done in Moovly itself. A Zap can still pass the video on to another app after Create Video, in the same Zap.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Moovly?
Go by criteria, not by a ranking. First, what each tool offers for Moovly: on Zapier, one action and nothing else, so the starting event always comes from another app. Second, how each tool counts usage against the number of videos you plan to render. Third, which tool your team already works with. On Zapier, how fast a Moovly Zap starts depends on the trigger of that other app, instant or polling.
