Overview

What the Movinghub Zapier integration actually does

The Movinghub Zapier integration sends referrals into Movinghub, the online platform partners use to offer utility connections, energy comparisons and other home services. It works in one direction: an event happens in another app, and Zapier creates a referral in your Hub's Connections or ConnectionsPLUS module.

With a single action, the outcomes depend on where your referrals start. First, a form that refers on its own: someone fills in your sign-up form, and Create Referral passes their name, email and mobile phone to Movinghub without anyone retyping them.

Second, referrals straight from your contact list: a contact added in the tool where you keep your customers can become a referral, as long as that tool carries the six fields Movinghub requires.

Third, on a paid plan, only the referrals that qualify: a filter sits between the two apps and lets through only the entries that meet the condition you set on one of their fields.

Now the limits. Movinghub has no trigger on Zapier, so nothing that happens inside Movinghub can start a Zap, and you cannot pull referral updates out to another tool. There is no search step either, so a Zap cannot check whether a person was already referred. And Create Referral only creates: nothing updates or cancels a referral.

Vocabulary

The Zapier words you need, in one minute

Six terms come back all over this page. Here they are in plain English, once.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time that trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts a Zap. Movinghub has none, so here the trigger always comes from another app you use.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, here a referral.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully, and your plan counts those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app itself the moment the event happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets a condition you set. It makes the Zap multi-step, so paid.
Cost

What a Movinghub Zap really costs

Movinghub is not a premium app, so it works on Zapier's free plan. You pay in tasks, and only actions produce them.

  • Trigger (other app)0 task
  • Each referral created1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Premium appNo, works on the free plan

The trigger from your other app never costs a task. Each referral created successfully counts as one task, and a referral that fails is not counted. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. A filter, or a second action after the referral, makes the Zap multi-step and needs a paid plan. The interval grid below concerns only the trigger of the app that starts your Zap, and only when that trigger is a polling one.

Connect

Connect Movinghub to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need a Movinghub account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  2. 02

    Find Movinghub and add it

Type Movinghub in the search box of the dialog, pick it from the results, then click Add connection. A new tab opens so you can finish the link on the Movinghub side.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to Movinghub in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. Every Movinghub step in every Zap then reuses this connection, so you only do it once.

First Zap

Your first Zap: only the sign-ups you choose become referrals

GoalEach form answer that meets a condition you choose becomes a referral in Movinghub.

  1. 01

    Set the trigger

Create a Zap and pick your form tool as the app that starts it, with its new-answer event. Movinghub has no trigger, so the Zap always opens on another app.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent answers of the connected account, so you map the next steps on a real answer.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Click the plus icon, add Filter, then set the field to look at, the rule and the value to compare with. A filter makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.

  4. 04

    Add Create Referral

Pick Movinghub, then Create Referral, then your connection. Map the six required fields from the answer, test the step once and read what came back.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish to switch the Zap on. Each answer that passes the filter becomes a referral, and each referral created successfully counts as one task.

Actions

Movinghub action

Movinghub gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create Referral

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new referral to the Hub's Connections or ConnectionsPLUS module.”

Sends a new referral to the Connections or ConnectionsPLUS module of your Hub, using the person's details from another app, so the home-services offer can follow without manual entry.

When to use it
people sign up through your form or join your contact list, and each one should reach Movinghub as a referral.
Watch out
six fields are required, including application type and offer type. Check at the test which values your account expects for those two.
When it breaks

When a Movinghub Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article of its own to Movinghub. Since Movinghub only receives referrals, the traps below are the general ones of any Zap.

Read these four cases before you publish. If something still looks off afterwards, our Zapier troubleshooting page is the next stop.

  • Nothing from before the Zap

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Form answers or contacts that existed before are never sent to Movinghub.
  • A Zap that sets itself off

A Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can start itself again and again, and burn through your task count fast.
  • A sudden big batch

If the starting app suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those items back.
  • The same item twice

Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen on a polling trigger, so the same answer does not start the Zap twice.

FAQ

Movinghub Zapier integration: your questions

01Is the Movinghub Zapier integration free?
Yes. Movinghub is not a premium app, so it runs on Zapier's free plan, which gives you 100 tasks a month and as many Zaps as you like. The catch is size: each Zap stops at two steps, one trigger and one action. Sending every form answer to Movinghub as a referral fits in that. Filtering answers first makes the Zap multi-step, and multi-step Zaps need a paid plan. So you can start free and upgrade only when you need that filter.
02How many tasks does a Movinghub Zap use?
One task per referral created successfully. The trigger, which comes from your other app, never costs a task, and neither do the checks Zapier runs on that app. So a Zap that refers every new form answer uses one task per answer. A referral that fails is not counted against your plan. On the free plan, the 100 tasks a month are shared across all your Zaps, so count what each Zap is likely to send before you add another one.
03Does Movinghub work in real time with Zapier?
Movinghub has no trigger, so the speed of your Zap depends on the trigger of the app that starts it. If that trigger is instant, the app reports the event to Zapier itself and no interval applies. If it is a polling trigger, Zapier checks on a timer set by your plan: 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise. Look up the trigger of your starting app on its own page in Zapier to know which case you are in.
04What do you need to connect Movinghub to Zapier?
A Movinghub account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. You connect it from the Apps page of your Zapier account: add a connection, search Movinghub, sign in on the tab that opens and grant access. You also need an account on the app that will start the Zap, since Movinghub cannot start one. Every Movinghub step then reuses that single connection.
05Which fields does Create Referral require?
Six of them: first name, last name, email, mobile phone, application type and offer type. The first four have to come from the app that starts your Zap, so check that your form or contact list actually collects an email and a mobile phone. For the last two, run the action test with a real entry and read what Movinghub sends back before you publish. Map each of the six fields before the test, not after.
06What if the Movinghub operation you need is not there?
Then Zapier cannot do it with Movinghub. The integration has a single action, Create Referral, with no trigger, no search and nothing that updates or cancels a referral. Movinghub's page on Zapier shows the current list of operations, so check it before you plan a Zap around a step it does not have. If you need referral updates to flow back into another tool, that is not possible through Zapier today, so look at what other automation tools offer for Movinghub.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Movinghub?
Choose on criteria, not on a ranking. On Zapier, Movinghub works from the free plan and does one thing: create referrals from data that starts elsewhere. If that is all you need, the question becomes how each tool handles the app your referrals come from, and what each charges for the number of referrals you expect. If you need Movinghub events to start automations, check first whether Make or n8n offer Movinghub at all, and what they can read from it.
