What the Murphy's Roofing Supply CRM Zapier integration does for you
Murphy's Roofing Supply CRM is a CRM built for residential exterior remodeling and builder contractors. Hooked up to Zapier, it receives new people from your other tools: each time something happens elsewhere, Zapier writes a contact and a project into the CRM, so nobody retypes a name and a phone number.
Three results come out of the one action, Create Contact and Project. First, a contact record with a first name, a last name and a phone number, three of the fields the action marks as required. Second, a project created at the same time and already attached to that contact, so the lead lands with somewhere to put the work. Third, a required question that comes with every record, labelled Would you like to invite this contact to view your financing offers?, which the step will not run without.
Say your website runs a form. Each new entry becomes a contact plus a project in the CRM, with the phone number copied over and the required financing question filled in.
Now what Zapier does not do here. The app offers no trigger, so nothing that happens inside the CRM can start a Zap. There is no search either, so a Zap cannot look anything up in the CRM. And there is no update action, so changing a contact means opening the CRM yourself. If those gaps matter, our n8n vs Zapier comparison is a reasonable next read.
Zapier words, in plain English
The page uses a handful of Zapier terms. Here they are once, so the rest reads easily.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it. Here it always comes from another app.
- Action
- What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes or sends something for you, such as Create Contact and Project.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan's allowance is a count of those.
- Polling vs instant trigger
- A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app itself the moment the event happens.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
- Connection
- Your account of an app linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that uses that app.
What a Murphy's Roofing Supply CRM Zap really costs
Murphy's Roofing Supply CRM is not reserved for paid plans: it works on the free plan.
- Tasks on the free plan100 per month
- Steps per Zap on the free plan2 (one trigger, one action)
- Cost of one Create Contact and Project1 task when it succeeds
- Paid plan requiredNo
The trigger never costs a task, and neither does Zapier checking for new data. Each successful Create Contact and Project counts as one task; an action that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month, as many Zaps as you like, and a polling check every 15 minutes, but each Zap stops at two steps: one trigger, one action. Add a filter or a second action and it becomes a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. The grid below sets how often a polling trigger in your other app is checked; this app has no trigger of its own.
Connect Murphy's Roofing Supply CRM to Zapier in three steps
- 01
Open the Apps page
In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need an account on the CRM, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.
- 02
Pick the app
In the dialog, type Murphy's Roofing Supply CRM, select it in the results, then click Add connection. A new browser tab opens so you can sign in to the CRM.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Sign in to Murphy's Roofing Supply CRM in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. From then on, every Zap step that uses the CRM reuses this connection.
Your first Zap: a form entry becomes a contact and a project
GoalEach new entry from your website form creates a contact and a linked project in Murphy's Roofing Supply CRM, only when a phone number came in.
- 01
Build the Zap
Create a new Zap and pick your form tool as the trigger app, with its new-entry event. Connect the account and keep going.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent entries of the connected account, so you map fields on a real one instead of guessing.
- 03
Add the filter
Add a Filter from the plus icon and set its three boxes: the phone field, a rule, a value. This step needs a paid plan, because it makes the Zap multi-step.
- 04
Add the CRM action
Choose Murphy's Roofing Supply CRM, then Create Contact and Project. Map first name, last name and phone, and answer the financing question.
- 05
Test, then publish
Test the action once and read what came back in the CRM. If the contact and its project look right, click Publish to switch the Zap on.
The Murphy's Roofing Supply CRM action
Murphy's Roofing Supply CRM gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Create Contact and Project
ActionIn Zapier“This creates a contact and a project that the contact will be connected to.”
Writes a new contact into the CRM and opens a project already tied to that person, in one step and for one task.
When the Murphy's Roofing Supply CRM Zap breaks
Zapier attaches no help article to this app, and no app-specific limit is on record. What can go wrong comes from how every Zap works.
Four cases are worth knowing before you publish. If one of them shows up, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.
Old leads are not imported
A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Entries that already existed stay where they are; moving that backlog is a separate job.A Zap that feeds itself
As a general precaution: a Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can set itself off again and again, and the task count climbs fast.A sudden flood of entries
If the trigger app suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back. The same entry twice
On a polling trigger, Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen, so the same item does not start the Zap twice.
