Overview

What the myHomeIQ Zapier integration actually does

It moves myHomeIQ leads into the rest of your tools, and lets those tools create reports in myHomeIQ. myHomeIQ connects homeowners with real estate, mortgage and home service professionals. On Zapier it offers two lead events, buyer and seller, plus one action that creates and activates a homeIQ report.

Three results you can build. Buyer leads in your CRM: New Buyer Lead creates a contact there, so follow-up starts in the tool you already work in. Seller leads announced to the team: New Seller Lead posts a message in your team chat, and nobody has to watch myHomeIQ. Reports for contacts gathered elsewhere: a new entry in your web form feeds Create a myHomeIQ Report, provided it carries the client's email and the property owner's name.

Now the limits. There is no search, so a Zap cannot look anything up in myHomeIQ before acting. There is no update or delete action either: the only thing a Zap can write is a new report. The good news is speed: both triggers are instant, so the polling interval of your plan does not apply to them, even on the free plan. A Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt in the editor, which is an easy way to check what you picked.

Vocabulary

The Zapier words you need, in one minute

Eight terms come back on every Zapier screen. Here they are in plain English, so the rest of the page reads without a dictionary.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it. myHomeIQ has two, one per lead type.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, such as creating a report.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The number on your plan is a count of those.
Instant trigger
A trigger the app reports itself, the moment the event happens, so nothing waits for the next check. Both myHomeIQ triggers work this way.
Polling trigger
A trigger Zapier checks on a timer, asking the app for new items at a fixed interval. myHomeIQ has none.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a myHomeIQ Zap really costs

myHomeIQ is not a premium app, so it works from the free plan. Leads arriving cost nothing; only what the Zap does with them is billed.

  • Premium appNo, works on the free plan
  • Tasks on the free plan100 per month
  • Steps per Zap on the free plan2 (one trigger, one action)
  • Instant triggers2 of 2

The trigger never costs a task. Each action that succeeds counts as one task, whether it creates a CRM contact or a myHomeIQ report; one that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps of two steps: one trigger, one action. A filter or a second action makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below is Zapier's general one; it does not apply to the two myHomeIQ triggers, which are instant.

Connect

Connect myHomeIQ to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is made once, then every Zap that uses myHomeIQ reuses it, for leads and reports alike.

  2. 02

    Find myHomeIQ and add it

Type myHomeIQ in the search box of the dialog, pick it from the results, then click Add connection. A new tab opens so you can sign in to your myHomeIQ account.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to myHomeIQ in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. You need an account on the app, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

First Zap

Your first Zap: every buyer lead posted to the team

GoalEach new myHomeIQ buyer lead that meets your condition posts a message in your team chat, so someone picks it up.

  1. 01

    Pick the trigger

Create a Zap, choose myHomeIQ as the app that starts it and New Buyer Lead as the event. Select your myHomeIQ connection, or add it now.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the connected account, so the next steps are set on a real lead.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Add a Filter step from the plus icon and fill its three boxes: the field to look at, the rule, the value. A filter makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.

  4. 04

    Add the message

Choose your team chat and its message action, then place the lead details you need in the text. Check at the test which fields the lead really carries.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test the action once and read the message in your chat. If it looks right, click Publish to switch the Zap on for the next lead.

Triggers

The two myHomeIQ triggers

2 events start a Zap when something happens in myHomeIQ, and 2 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Buyer Lead

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new buyer lead is generated.”

Starts your Zap each time myHomeIQ generates a new buyer lead, so the next apps can act on it without anyone checking myHomeIQ first.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
buyer leads should land in your CRM or be posted in your team chat, where follow-up actually happens.
Watch out
leads generated before the Zap is published are not sent; only new ones start it.
2

New Seller Lead

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new seller lead is generated.”

Fires on every new seller lead generated in myHomeIQ; the editor lists this event as New Seller Lead, and it is the counterpart of New Buyer Lead on the selling side.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
seller leads need their own path, a separate sheet, a different pipeline in your CRM, or a message in your team chat.
Watch out
a sudden huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, can be held back by Zapier's flood protection.
Actions

The myHomeIQ action

myHomeIQ gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create a myHomeIQ Report

Action

In Zapier“Create and activate a homeIQ report”

Creates and activates a homeIQ report in myHomeIQ from details sent by another app, so a contact gathered elsewhere gets a report without manual setup.

When to use it
contacts collected in a form or a CRM should each receive a myHomeIQ report as soon as the Zap reaches this step.
Watch out
Client email and Property owner name are both required, so the source has to collect an email and the owner's name every time.
When it breaks

When a myHomeIQ Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to myHomeIQ, so the cases below are the general limits of every Zap, plus the required fields of the report action.

Each of these cases has a clear fix once you know where to look. For a step-by-step method, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.

  • Earlier leads are not sent

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Leads generated before that stay in myHomeIQ; moving that backlog is a separate job.
  • A report with missing details

Create a myHomeIQ Report requires Client email and Property owner name. A source that lacks one of them cannot feed the step.
  • A Zap that sets itself off

A Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can start again and again and burn through tasks. Keep the source and the destination apart.
  • A big batch held back

When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back.

FAQ

myHomeIQ Zapier integration: questions people ask

01Is the myHomeIQ Zapier integration free?
Yes, it runs on the free plan. myHomeIQ is not a premium app, and with no search steps in the integration, every operation fits the two-step Zaps the free plan allows: one trigger and one action. You get 100 tasks a month and can build as many Zaps as you want. A Zap from New Buyer Lead to your CRM, or from a web form to Create a myHomeIQ Report, stays free. Add a filter to keep only some leads, or a second action, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a myHomeIQ Zap use?
One per action that succeeds. A new buyer or seller lead arriving costs nothing, since triggers are never billed. Each contact created in your CRM, each chat message, each myHomeIQ report counts as one task when it goes through; an action that fails is not counted. A Zap with two actions counts each successful one on its own, so it uses twice as much per lead. On the free plan, 100 tasks a month means 100 leads handled by a one-action Zap.
03Do myHomeIQ leads reach Zapier in real time?
Yes. Both triggers, New Buyer Lead and New Seller Lead, are instant: myHomeIQ tells Zapier the moment a lead is generated, and the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan. The polling grid of 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional and 1 on Team and Enterprise does not apply to them. A Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt in the editor. Speed downstream still depends on the apps that follow.
04What does it take to connect myHomeIQ to Zapier?
An account on myHomeIQ, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. The route is the usual one: open Apps in your Zapier account, click + Add connection, search for myHomeIQ, click Add connection, sign in to myHomeIQ in the new tab and grant Zapier access. One connection serves both triggers and the report action. The CRM or chat on the other side needs its own connection.
05Why does Create a myHomeIQ Report fail?
Look at the two required fields first: Client email and Property owner name. Both are required, so check that the source collects the property owner's name as well as the email. Before you publish, check that the app starting your Zap captures each of them, then run the test and confirm in myHomeIQ that the report was created. The test result shows what myHomeIQ actually received, before any real lead goes through the Zap.
06What if a myHomeIQ operation is missing?
On Zapier, myHomeIQ currently offers two triggers, New Buyer Lead and New Seller Lead, and one action, Create a myHomeIQ Report, with no search. The myHomeIQ page on Zapier shows the current list, so that is where to confirm it. Updating a lead, looking up a report or reacting to another kind of event is not covered by this integration today. Build around new leads coming out and reports going in.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for myHomeIQ?
Compare on criteria rather than a ranking. Coverage: on Zapier, myHomeIQ gives two instant lead triggers and one report action, so check what the other tools offer for this app before deciding. Speed: both triggers are instant on Zapier, so no polling interval applies, even on the free plan. Shape: anything beyond a trigger and one action, such as a filter that sorts buyer leads, needs a paid plan on Zapier. Count your monthly leads to size the task budget.
