What the Nolt Zapier integration does for you
Nolt is a feedback board: your users post feature requests and bug reports and comment on them, and your team sets a status on each post. Connected to Zapier, every move on that board can start an automation in the tools your product team already lives in. Data flows out of Nolt only.
Three results worth setting up. A product channel that never misses a request: New Post drops each new idea into Slack or Teams, so nobody has to check the board. A backlog that follows the board: Post Status Updated creates a ticket in your issue tracker the moment a post moves to the status your team uses for accepted work. Customers who hear back: New Comment alerts the account manager when a key customer comments, so the answer does not wait for someone to open the board.
What Zapier does not do here is just as clear. Nolt has no actions and no searches, so a Zap cannot create a post, change a status, add a tag or reply on the board. When your issue tracker closes a ticket, Zapier cannot flip the matching Nolt post to done; that last step stays manual, so build it into your team's routine.
If you are comparing tools for this, our Zapier review lays out the trade-offs, and Make vs Zapier compares how each one bills.
Zapier vocabulary in one minute
Eight terms you will meet in the editor. Each one is explained once here, then used as is.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap, like a new post on your Nolt board. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
- Action
- What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you. With Nolt it always comes from another app.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan's allowance is a count of these.
- Polling trigger
- A trigger Zapier checks on a timer, asking the app for new items at a set interval. None of the Nolt triggers works this way.
- Instant trigger
- A trigger the app reports itself, the moment the event happens, so nothing waits for a check. All six Nolt triggers are instant.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when the incoming data meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
- Connection
- Your Nolt account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap that listens to your board.
What a Nolt Zap costs you
Nolt is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan, and its instant triggers skip the interval grid.
- Free plan100 tasks per month, unlimited Zaps, two steps max
- Nolt triggers6, all instant, no interval
- BilledEach successful action from the other app
- Premium appNo
Listening to Nolt costs nothing: the trigger never takes a task. You pay for what follows, one task per action that succeeds, nothing for one that fails. The free plan builds two-step Zaps only, one trigger and one action: a new post sent to Slack fits. Add a filter on a status, or a second action, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below does not apply to Nolt's triggers; they fire straight away whatever the plan.
Connect your Nolt board in three steps
- 01
Open the connection dialog
Go to the Apps page of your Zapier account and click + Add connection. You need a Nolt account with access to the board whose activity you want to follow.
- 02
Pick Nolt
Type Nolt in the search box of the dialog, select it from the results, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Nolt side so you can sign in.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Log in to Nolt in that tab and allow Zapier to use the account. The connection then appears on the Apps page, and every Zap that listens to Nolt reuses it.
Your first Zap: accepted requests become issues
GoalWhen a Nolt post moves to your accepted status, an issue is created in your tracker with the request attached.
- 01
Pick the Nolt trigger
Build: create a Zap, choose Nolt and Post Status Updated, then select your connection. It is instant, so there is no interval to set.
- 02
Test with a real status change
Test: Zapier brings back the three most recent status changes on your board. Pick a real one so the next steps are mapped on actual data.
- 03
Keep only accepted posts
Add a Filter step: field = the new status, a text rule, value = the status your team uses for accepted work. The filter makes this a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan.
- 04
Create the issue
Add Jira Software Cloud and Create Issue. Map the post title into the summary and the post text and link into the description.
- 05
Test and publish
Run each step once and open the issue it created. When it reads right, click Publish. Posts accepted before that moment stay as they are.
Nolt triggers in Zapier
6 events start a Zap when something happens in Nolt, and 6 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
New Comment
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new comment is created.”
Starts your Zap as soon as someone comments on a post on your Nolt board. Comments are where users explain what they really need, and where a quick answer from your team makes the difference.
Comment Deleted
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a comment is deleted.”
Fires when a comment is removed from your Nolt board. It is rarely the star of a workflow, but it keeps any copy of the conversation honest once something has been taken down.
New Post
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new post is created.”
Runs each time a user adds a post to your Nolt board, whether it is a feature request, a bug report or an idea. This is the trigger most teams wire first.
Post Deleted
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a post is deleted.”
Picks up the removal of a post from your Nolt board. If that post already became a ticket or a CRM note, this is your cue to tidy the other side.
Post Status Updated
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a post status is updated.”
Fires when the status of a Nolt post changes, the moment your team moves a request forward or closes it. It is the link between what users see on the board and what happens in your backlog.
Post Tags Updated
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a post tag is updated.”
Reacts when the tags on a Nolt post change. Teams that tag by product area or by customer segment can use it to route each request to the right people.
When a Nolt Zap breaks
Zapier links no help article to Nolt, so the known failure points are Zapier's own rules.
Three cases to check first, all tied to how Zapier itself works. If something still looks off, our Zapier troubleshooting page goes through the usual causes.
The board's history is not replayed
A Zap only reacts to what happens after you publish it. Posts and comments already on your Nolt board never reach Slack; moving that backlog is a separate job.Two Zaps feeding each other
Nolt has no actions, so a loop takes two Zaps: one writing into an app the other watches. Check chains of Zaps before switching them on, or tasks burn fast.Bulk changes held back
Retagging or reclassifying many posts at once sends a flood of events. Zapier's flood protection can hold them back instead of running every one.
