Overview

What the Noticeable Zapier integration does for your product updates

The Noticeable Zapier integration connects your Noticeable projects (where you publish product news and release notes) with the rest of your tools, without code. Events in Noticeable, such as a post going live, a reader comment or a new email subscriber, start automations elsewhere, and other apps can create posts or manage subscribers in Noticeable.

Three results teams build first. Release notes that announce themselves: Publication Created or Updated pushes each new post to the team chat or a customer channel the moment it goes out. A subscriber list that stays in sync: New Email Subscription and Email Subscription Deleted copy sign-ups and departures into your CRM, while Create Email Subscription adds customers who opt in from a form elsewhere. Feedback that reaches the product team: New Publication Comment turns each reader comment into a ticket or a message to the person who wrote the post.

Going the other way, Create Publication drafts a post from another tool, for example when a release ships in your project tracker.

What this integration does not do: there is no action to edit or delete a publication, and the only search looks up email subscriptions, not posts. One more catch sits inside Noticeable itself: Publication Created or Updated only fires for posts where the Forward to Zapier integrations option is switched on, post by post, in the Noticeable dashboard. Read the Zapier review for where the tool fits overall, and the Make vs Zapier comparison if a missing operation sends you shopping.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

These eight words come back all over this page. Here they are, in plain language.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is switched on, Zapier waits for that event to happen.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you in an app.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One action completed successfully is one task, and your plan counts those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app itself the moment the event happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something that already exists in an app, so the steps that follow can use what it found.
Connection
Your Noticeable account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Noticeable step in every Zap you build.
Cost

What Noticeable on Zapier really costs

Noticeable is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan. You pay in tasks, and only actions create them.

  • Premium appNo, works on the free plan
  • Free plan100 tasks per month, two-step Zaps
  • Trigger costZero tasks
  • Noticeable triggers6 instant, 0 polling

The trigger never costs a task, and Zapier listening for new events costs nothing either. Each action that succeeds counts once, so a Zap with three actions uses three times what a one-action Zap uses. A failed action is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but each Zap is capped at two steps: one trigger, one action. Add a filter, a second action or the Search Email Subscription step and you have a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below applies to polling triggers only. Noticeable has none: its six triggers fire right away on every plan.

Connect

Connect your Noticeable account to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. In the dialog that opens, type Noticeable in the search box and pick it from the results.

  2. 02

    Sign in to Noticeable

Click Add connection. Noticeable opens in a new tab: sign in with the account the Zaps should act as, ideally one that already works on every project you plan to automate.

  3. 03

    Grant access

Allow Zapier to use the account. The tab closes and the connection shows up in your list. From then on, every Noticeable step in every Zap reuses it without asking again.

First Zap

Your first Zap: announce each published post in the team chat

GoalEach Noticeable post that is published, and that passes a filter, becomes a message in your team chat.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Click Create, then Zap. The editor opens with an empty trigger card on top and an action card underneath, and nothing runs until you publish.

  2. 02

    Set the trigger

Choose Noticeable, the Publication Created or Updated event and your connection. Pick the projects to listen to and the status that should fire the Zap.

  3. 03

Test it on a real post

Run the test: Zapier brings back the three most recent items, so you map the next steps on a real post. Check that Forward to Zapier integrations is on for that post.

  4. 04

    Add a filter

Click the plus icon, choose Filter, then set the field to look at, the rule and the value. The filter makes this a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan.

  5. 05

    Add the chat message

Add your chat app as the action, pick the channel and drop the post title and link into the message. Test the step and read what came back before going on.

  6. 06

    Publish

Click Publish. The Zap is live, and since the trigger is instant, the next post you publish lands in the channel straight away.

Triggers

Noticeable triggers on Zapier

6 events start a Zap when something happens in Noticeable, and 6 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Email Subscription Updated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when an email subscription is updated.”

A reader's email subscription changes in one of your projects and the Zap receives the new state. This keeps a CRM or a mailing tool aligned with what Noticeable knows, without exporting lists by hand.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
your customer success team tags contacts in the CRM depending on whether they still follow your product news.
Watch out
you must pick the projects to listen to, and changes in a project you did not select never arrive.
2

New Publication Comment

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new comment is sent for a publication.”

Someone comments on one of your posts and the Zap gets the comment. It closes the loop between release notes and the product team, since nobody has to sit on the Noticeable dashboard to spot feedback.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
a product manager wants every comment on a launch post turned into a ticket in the backlog.
Watch out
the trigger asks for one or more projects, so a new project needs adding to the Zap before its comments flow.
3

Publication Created or Updated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a publication is created or updated (and the "Forward to Zapier integrations" option is enabled on a per-publication basis in the Noticeable dashboard).”

Fires when a post is created or edited in the projects you choose, with a status setting that narrows which posts count. It is the base for announcing releases in chat, on social accounts or in a customer newsletter.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
marketing wants each published changelog entry shared in the community channel without copy and paste.
Watch out
only posts with Forward to Zapier integrations switched on in the Noticeable dashboard reach Zapier.
4

Publication Deleted

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a publication is deleted.”

When a post disappears from a project, this trigger tells your Zap. Useful to clean up whatever an earlier Zap created from that post, so a removed announcement does not linger in another tool.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
you log every release note in a spreadsheet and want a deletion flagged in that log on the same row.
Watch out
projects are required here too, and a deleted post in an unselected project goes unnoticed.
5

New Email Subscription

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new email subscription is made on the specified project.”

A reader subscribes by email to one of your projects and the Zap starts with their address. That is the cleanest way to welcome new followers or to feed them into your CRM as engaged users.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
sales wants to know which trial accounts started following product updates.
Watch out
do not pair it with Create Email Subscription on the same project, or each subscriber the Zap adds starts it again.
6

Email Subscription Deleted

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when an email subscription is deleted from a project.”

Someone leaves the email list of a project and the Zap receives the departure. Mirror it in your mailing tool so you stop writing to people who opted out, or alert the account owner when a key customer unsubscribes.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
compliance needs every unsubscribe reflected in the main marketing list on the same day.
Watch out
the trigger only listens to the projects selected in its settings.
Actions

Noticeable actions on Zapier

Noticeable gives you 4 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Update Email Subscription

Action

In Zapier“Updates an email subscription.”

Changes an existing subscription in a project, found by its email address, and can archive it. Handy to reflect a status change decided elsewhere without deleting the subscriber outright.

When to use it
a churned customer should stop being an active follower, but stay on record.
Watch out
the project and the email address are both required.
2

Create Publication

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new publication.”

Writes a new post in a Noticeable project from data sent by another app, such as a closed release in your tracker. You set the project, title, author name, labels, publication time and whether it stays a draft.

When to use it
engineering closes a release and a draft changelog entry should wait for review.
Watch out
the title must stay at 120 characters or fewer.
3

Create Email Subscription

Action

In Zapier“Creates an email subscription.”

Adds an email address to the subscribers of a project, so that person receives your product updates. Only the project and the address are needed.

When to use it
customers tick a box for product news in your onboarding form and should be subscribed right away.
Watch out
run Search Email Subscription first if the address might already be there.
4

Delete Email Subscription

Action

In Zapier“Deletes an email subscription.”

Removes an email address from a project's subscribers. Pair it with an unsubscribe event from your mailing tool so both lists say the same thing.

When to use it
a contact opts out in your newsletter tool and should leave Noticeable too.
Watch out
to keep the person on record as archived instead, use Update Email Subscription.
Searches

Noticeable search on Zapier

1 search step looks for data that already exists in Noticeable, so a later step can use it.

A search sits at the bottom of the action-event list in the editor, under the SEARCH heading. Three settings decide what happens when the result is not the one you expected.

1

Search Email Subscription

SearchFind or create

In Zapier“Search for an email subscription by email address.”

Looks up a subscription in a project by email address, so the next steps know whether that person already follows you. The editor also lists an Email Subscription find-or-create entry: it is this same search with the create box ticked, not a separate operation.

When to use it
before updating or deleting a subscriber whose address came from your CRM.
Watch out
it makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap there, and the steps that depend on it are skipped. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
  2. Create Email Subscription if it doesn't exist yet?
Ticking this box turns the search into a find-or-create: it drops the setting above and asks for what it needs to create the missing subscription.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three ways out when several items match: keep the first one (the default), stop the Zap, or hand all of them to the next steps at once.
When it breaks

When the Noticeable Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to Noticeable, so the cases below are the general traps, applied to a changelog tool.

Most surprises come from settings inside Noticeable and from loops, not from the connection. The Zapier troubleshooting page covers the wider list.

  • The post never reaches Zapier

Publication Created or Updated only fires for posts where Forward to Zapier integrations is enabled in the Noticeable dashboard, one post at a time.
  • Create Publication restarts its own Zap

Create Publication has a setting that lets the new post start matching Zaps. If the same Zap listens to that project, each post it writes sets it off again and burns tasks.
  • Subscribers added in a loop

New Email Subscription plus Create Email Subscription on one project means every address the Zap adds is a new event that starts it once more.
  • Old posts and subscribers are ignored

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is published. Existing posts and subscribers are never picked up; moving that backlog is a separate job.
  • A bulk import gets held back

Import a large batch of subscribers at once and Zapier's flood protection can hold the sudden wave of events back instead of running them one by one.
  • A project is missing from the list

Every operation asks for a project. Without access to it, the connected account cannot select it and the step cannot be set.

FAQ

Noticeable Zapier integration: frequently asked questions

01Is the Noticeable Zapier integration free?
Yes, for simple Zaps. Noticeable is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan, with 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. The limit is the shape of the Zap: on the free plan it has two steps, one trigger and one action. A filter, a second action or the Search Email Subscription step turns it into a multi-step Zap, and that needs a paid plan. Plan prices move often, so check the current grid on Zapier before you rely on one.
02How many tasks does a Noticeable Zap use?
One task per action that succeeds, and nothing for the trigger. A Zap that posts each new changelog entry to your chat costs one task per post. Add a second action, say a CRM note, and each post costs two. Failed actions are not counted, and Zapier listening for events is free. Watch volume on subscriber triggers: a big wave of sign-ups after a launch means as many runs, each one billing its actions.
03Does Noticeable trigger Zaps in real time?
Yes. All six Noticeable triggers are instant: Noticeable tells Zapier the moment a post, a comment or a subscription event happens, and the Zap starts right away. That is true on every plan, the free one included, so the 15 minute polling interval of the free plan does not apply. The editor marks these triggers with a lightning bolt. One exception to keep in mind: a post only reaches Zapier if Forward to Zapier integrations is on for it.
04What does it take to connect Noticeable to Zapier?
A Noticeable account with access to the projects you want to automate. The connection takes three moves: open Apps in Zapier, click + Add connection and pick Noticeable, then sign in to Noticeable in the tab that opens and grant access. Every trigger, action and search asks for a project, so use an account that already sees all of them. A project the account cannot reach does not show up in the dropdown, and the step cannot be set.
05Why does a published Noticeable post not start the Zap?
Most likely because Forward to Zapier integrations is off for that post. Publication Created or Updated only receives posts where this option is enabled, and it is set post by post in the Noticeable dashboard, not once for the whole project. Check the status setting of the trigger too: it decides which state of a post fires the Zap. Finally, make sure the post lives in one of the projects selected in the trigger.
06What if the Noticeable operation you need does not exist?
Then Zapier cannot do it with Noticeable today. The integration has six triggers, four actions and one search, with nothing to edit or delete a post and no search for posts. Two ways around it: hand that step to another tool you control, or use a platform where you build the missing step yourself, without waiting for a ready-made operation. Check the operation list on Zapier first, since apps add operations over time.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Noticeable?
It depends on your criteria. Zapier gives you six instant triggers, four actions and a subscriber search ready to use, with a guided editor and a free plan, which fits a team that wants release alerts and list syncing quickly. If you need to edit posts or search them, Zapier has no operation for it, and a tool where you build the missing step yourself gains ground. Volume weighs in too, since Zapier bills each successful action. Compare ease of setup, flexibility and cost per run.
