What the OmniDataBank Zapier integration does
The OmniDataBank Zapier integration sends customer records from your other tools into OmniDataBank, where marketing keeps the data its advertising needs. Zapier runs small automations called Zaps: an event in one app starts them, then they do work elsewhere. With OmniDataBank, the event always comes from another app, and OmniDataBank receives the result.
Three results are typical. A campaign audience fed by your lead forms: each new entry becomes a record through Create Audience, ready for the next ad push. A customer list kept in step with your store: every new buyer lands in the right data format without a CSV upload in between. A cleaner handover between sales and marketing: contacts created in the CRM are registered in OmniDataBank without anyone copying fields between screens. All three rest on one operation, Create Audience, and each needs a trigger from another app.
What Zapier does not do for OmniDataBank is just as clear. There is no trigger, so nothing happening inside OmniDataBank can start a Zap. There is no search step either, so a Zap cannot check whether a person is already registered, and it cannot update or delete a record. Data flows in, never out. If a two-way flow matters, compare tools first with Make vs Zapier and n8n vs Zapier.
The Zapier words you will meet
Eight terms in plain words. The rest of the page uses them without explaining them again.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. OmniDataBank has none, so another app always plays this part.
- Action
- What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, here Create Audience.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills. One task equals one action your Zap completes successfully, and your plan counts those.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app itself, so nothing waits.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
- Search step
- A step that looks up something already stored in an app, so later steps can reuse it. OmniDataBank has none.
- Connection
- Your account of an app, linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step of every Zap that uses that app.
What it really costs
Zapier bills in tasks, one per action that completes. Each record that Create Audience registers costs one task, and a registration that fails costs nothing.
- The other app's trigger0 tasks
- Each record registered1 task
- Free plan100 tasks a month, 2-step Zaps
- Needs a paid planFilter, search or second action
The trigger from the other app never costs a task, however often Zapier checks it. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, and OmniDataBank is not reserved for paid plans. The catch: a free Zap stops at two steps, one trigger and one action. Add a filter, a search or a second action and it becomes a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. How fast records arrive depends on the trigger app: the grid below applies when that trigger is a polling one.
Connect your OmniDataBank account in three steps
- 01
Open the Apps page
In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. Have your OmniDataBank account ready: Zapier links an account that already exists, it does not create one.
- 02
Pick OmniDataBank
In the dialog, type OmniDataBank, select it in the results, then click Add connection. Zapier opens a separate tab where you sign in to OmniDataBank.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Sign in to OmniDataBank in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. If a colleague owns the data format you want to fill, get write access on it first, or the Zap will not be able to register anything.
Your first Zap: from form entry to ad audience
GoalEach new form entry is registered in OmniDataBank, and marketing gets a Slack message.
- 01
Pick the starting app
Start a new Zap and choose the form tool and its new-entry event as the trigger. OmniDataBank has no trigger, so the Zap always starts in another app.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test: Zapier brings back the three most recent entries of the connected form account. Pick one, so the next step is mapped on a real person.
- 03
Add Create Audience
Add OmniDataBank with Create Audience, paste the DataFormat ID, then fill the Audience pairs: a field name of your data format on the left, the value from the form on the right.
- 04
Add the Slack step
Add the Slack step to tell marketing a new record arrived. Three steps make a multi-step Zap, so this one needs a paid plan; drop Slack to stay on the free one.
- 05
Test, then publish
Test each action once and read what came back, then click Publish to switch the Zap on. From then on, every new entry is registered at the pace of the form trigger.
The OmniDataBank action
OmniDataBank gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Create Audience
ActionIn Zapier“Create an Audience in the OmniDataBank”
It registers one person in one of your OmniDataBank data formats, using values passed from the earlier steps. Each run adds one record your advertising team can then work with.
When it breaks
Zapier attaches no help article and no rate limit to OmniDataBank. What goes wrong here is the general behaviour of any Zap, plus the trigger of the app that feeds it.
Three cases cover what a marketing team is likely to meet. For a run that fails for another reason, see Zapier troubleshooting.
Older customers are not registered
A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Contacts already sitting in your form tool or CRM stay there, and moving that backlog is a separate job.A sudden burst holds records back
When the trigger app suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those records back instead of running them all.The same contact is not sent twice
On a polling trigger, Zapier remembers what it has already seen, so the same item does not start the Zap twice and does not reach OmniDataBank twice through it.
