What the OptCulture Zapier integration is for
Connecting OptCulture to Zapier lets a sign-up captured somewhere else land in OptCulture as a contact, without an export and an import in between. OptCulture is a customer engagement platform built around loyalty and campaigns on several channels. Zapier carries the people from the tools where they first show up.
Three results people build with the single Create Contact action. A loyalty sign-up: a visitor fills in the membership form on your site, and the contact is waiting in OptCulture before the first campaign goes out. An in-store or event list: staff collect names in a shared spreadsheet, and each new row turns into a contact instead of a manual copy and paste. A consent-filtered list: a checkout or survey tool sends every customer, and a filter only passes the ones who agreed to hear from you.
Then the part the app page leaves out. OptCulture has no trigger on Zapier, so nothing that happens inside OptCulture can start a Zap: a contact who joins, redeems or unsubscribes there sets nothing off. There is no search either, so a Zap cannot check whether a person already exists before creating them, and the editor offers no step to update or delete a contact. The integration adds people to OptCulture, and that is all it does.
For the wider platform choice, the n8n vs Zapier page is the place to start.
Zapier words, explained once
The page uses seven Zapier terms. Each one in a single plain sentence.
- Zap
- An automation built on Zapier: one trigger followed by one or more actions, run every time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts a Zap. OptCulture offers none, so the event always comes from another tool.
- Action
- The step a Zap performs once started, writing or sending something. Here, it adds a contact to OptCulture.
- Task
- What Zapier bills: one action the Zap completes successfully. The number on your plan counts these.
- Polling vs instant
- Zapier checks a polling trigger on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by its app the moment the event happens.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when the incoming data meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
- Connection
- Your OptCulture account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that writes to OptCulture.
What an OptCulture Zap costs
OptCulture is not a premium app, so the free plan is enough to run it. Zapier bills in tasks, and only a completed action counts.
- TriggerFree, never counted
- Create Contact1 task per contact created
- Failed actionNot counted
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only
- Premium appNo, available on the free plan
The trigger in the other app never costs anything, however often Zapier looks at it. Each contact OptCulture accepts costs one task. A contact that fails to be created is not counted. The real ceiling is the shape of the Zap: the free plan only builds two-step Zaps, one trigger and one action. Put a consent filter in between and the Zap turns multi-step, which needs a paid plan. A form that only collects opted-in people keeps you on the free plan.
Connect OptCulture to Zapier in three steps
- 01
Find OptCulture in Apps
In Zapier, open Apps and click + Add connection. In the dialog that appears, type OptCulture in the search box and pick the app from the list of results.
- 02
Sign in on the OptCulture side
Click Add connection. A tab opens on OptCulture: sign in with the OptCulture account whose contact base should receive the people your Zaps send over.
- 03
Allow access
Grant Zapier access to the account. The connection is then saved and reused by every OptCulture step. If the contacts belong to a base someone else manages, you need write access to it before building anything.
Your first OptCulture Zap: opted-in sign-ups only
GoalEvery form entry where the person agreed to marketing becomes an OptCulture contact.
- 01
Choose the starting event
Build the Zap from the form tool: Typeform and its New Entry event, then connect the loyalty sign-up form your visitors fill in on the site.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier pulls the three most recent entries of the form, so the next steps are mapped on a real person rather than placeholder text.
- 03
Add the consent filter
From the plus icon, add a Filter: the consent question, a text rule, the value yes. This step makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.
- 04
Add Create Contact
Pick OptCulture as the action, then Create Contact. Map the person's details, and fill RequestDate with a date in the yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss format.
- 05
Test, then publish
Test the action and look for the new contact in OptCulture. Then click Publish to switch the Zap on. Entries received before that stay where they are.
The OptCulture action on Zapier
OptCulture gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

When an OptCulture Zap breaks
Zapier links no help article to OptCulture, so the known limits are Zapier's general ones, plus the date format.
Most of these do not look like errors. They look like a contact who never arrived, or a list that stopped at the day you switched the Zap on. Check the cases below first; the Zapier troubleshooting page has the general method for everything else.
The date is in the wrong shape
RequestDate is required and expects yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss. A date written the local way, or without the time, is the first thing to check when a contact fails.Past sign-ups are not copied
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. People who signed up before you published it never reach OptCulture; moving that list is a separate job.A bulk import is held back
When the starting app suddenly returns a huge batch, after an import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back rather than push it all into OptCulture.Duplicates stay rare
On a polling trigger, Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen, so the same form entry or row does not create the contact twice.
