Orshot Zapier integrationAutomate Orshot with Zapier.
Orshot Zapier integration: 0 triggers, 3 actions and 1 search. Zapier can fill an Orshot template, render the image, video or PDF, push it to your social accounts and check a background render. Something else has to start the Zap, though.

What the Orshot Zapier integration does for you
The Orshot Zapier integration links your Orshot templates to Zapier, a tool that chains apps together without code. You build a Zap (one automation: an event that starts it, then the steps it runs for you) where another app supplies the data and Orshot turns it into a finished visual, then posts it if you want.
One branded image per new record. Render From Template takes a pre-designed template, drops in the values coming from the previous step and hands back the image. A product catalog, a list of events, a list of new hires: each new line gets its visual without anyone opening a design tool.
A video or a multi-page PDF from a Studio template. Render From Studio Template does the same from a template built in Orshot Studio, with video options (sound off, loop) and a background mode for files that take longer than 30 seconds. Find Render Job then reads where that background render stands.
A post without opening Orshot. Publish to Social sends the rendered file to the social accounts linked in Orshot, and either publishes it, schedules it or leaves it as a draft for someone to approve.
What Zapier does not do here: nothing inside Orshot can start a Zap, because Zapier offers no Orshot trigger. The starting event always comes from another app. Zapier cannot link your social accounts either; that happens inside your Orshot workspace, before you build anything.
The same app also exists on the other side: Orshot Make integration. To weigh the tools against each other: n8n vs Zapier.
Zapier words, in plain English
Eight terms come back all over this page. Here is each one in a line.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event, in some app, that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it. Orshot offers none, so another app plays that role.
- Action
- What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you. Rendering an Orshot template is one.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The monthly count on your plan is a count of those.
- Polling vs instant
- Polling: Zapier asks the trigger app for new items on a timer. Instant: the app tells Zapier the moment the event happens, nothing waits.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
- Search step
- A step that looks up something that already exists in an app, so later steps can use what it found. Find Render Job is one.
- Connection
- Your Orshot account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that talks to Orshot, in any of your Zaps.
What an Orshot Zap really costs
Orshot is not a premium app (Zapier's label for apps kept for paid plans and trials), so it works from the free plan. What you spend is tasks.
- Premium appNo, free plan OK
- Free plan tasks100 per month
- Free plan Zap sizeTrigger + one action
- Trigger cost0 tasks
The trigger never costs a task, and Zapier checking for new data costs nothing either, however often it looks. Each Orshot action that succeeds counts on its own; one that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and two-step Zaps only: one trigger, one action. Render then publish, add a filter or the Find Render Job search, and you have a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan.
Connect Orshot to Zapier in three steps
- 01
Open Apps and add a connection
In your Zapier account, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. A dialog opens with a search box. The connection you are about to create will serve every Orshot step you build later.
- 02
Pick Orshot and confirm
Type Orshot in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. Zapier opens a new tab where Orshot asks you to sign in. Keep the Zapier tab open behind it.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Sign in with your Orshot account and grant Zapier access. You need an account on Orshot, plus read or write access on any content you don't own yourself but want the Zap to touch.
Your first Orshot Zap: from product row to social draft
GoalEach new product added to a sheet gets a branded visual, then lands as a social post.
- 01
Pick the event that starts it
Building starts with the trigger. Orshot has none, so choose the app that holds your data, here a spreadsheet and its new-row event, and connect that account when Zapier asks.
- 02
Test the trigger on real data
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent rows of the connected sheet, so you map fields on a real product instead of an empty example.
- 03
Add Render From Template
Add Orshot with Render From Template. Paste the Template ID, keep or change Response Type and Response Format, then map the row's values into the template.
- 04
Add Publish to Social
Add a second Orshot action, Publish to Social, pick the accounts and pass it the rendered file. Two actions make this a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan.
- 05
Test, then publish
Test each Orshot step once and read what came back: the render, then the post. When both look right, click Publish. The Zap only reacts to rows added after that.
The 3 Orshot actions on Zapier
Orshot gives you 3 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Publish to Social
ActionIn Zapier“Publishes, schedules or drafts a post with your rendered image or video on connected social accounts.”
Takes a rendered image or video and sends it to the social accounts linked in Orshot, where it goes live now, gets scheduled, or waits as a draft.
Render From Studio Template
ActionIn Zapier“Renders an Image from your Studio Template”
Produces a file from a template you designed in Orshot Studio, with extra switches for video: mute the sound or loop the clip.
Render From Template
ActionIn Zapier“Render using a pre-designed template”
Fills a pre-designed Orshot template with the values you map and returns the image, as base64 and png unless you change Response Type and Response Format.
The Orshot search on Zapier
1 search step looks for data that already exists in Orshot, so a later step can use it.
A search step reads something that already exists instead of creating it. Orshot has one, built for background renders. In the editor, searches sit at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH.
Find Render Job
SearchIn Zapier“Finds a background (async) render job by ID and returns its status and result.”
Looks up a render that Orshot is running in the background, from its Render Job ID, and returns its status along with the result once there is one.
The three settings every search exposes
- Successful if no search results are found?Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap there and skips the steps that relied on it. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
- Create X if it doesn't exist yet? This box turns a search into a find-or-create. Orshot exposes no find-or-create variant, so Find Render Job only ever looks things up.
- If multiple search results are found?Three ways out when several items match: keep the first one (the default), stop the Zap, or hand all of them on at once.
When an Orshot Zap breaks
Zapier attaches no help article to Orshot and documents no Orshot-specific limit. What goes wrong comes from how Zaps work in general, plus two settings worth checking.
Read these before switching the Zap on. If a run still fails, the next stop is Zapier troubleshooting.
Old rows never get a visual
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Products already in the sheet stay without a render; moving that backlog is a separate job.The Zap that feeds itself
Write the render link back into the very place the trigger watches and the Zap can set itself off again and again, burning through your task count fast.A bulk import gets held back
Paste in a large batch of rows at once and the trigger returns a huge load. Zapier's flood protection can hold it back instead of rendering everything.Same row, one run
On a polling trigger, Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen, so the same item does not start the Zap twice, even if it shows up on the next check. Background render on the wrong response
Render in Background only works with Response Type set to url, not thebase64default. Check both before testing a long video or a multi-page PDF.Find Render Job stops the Zap
With the default setting, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap and skips the steps after it. Check the Render Job ID mapping first.
