Overview

What the PersistIQ Zapier integration actually does for you

PersistIQ is an outbound sales tool that keeps your messages and your follow-up steps in one place. The Zapier integration links it to the rest of your stack in both directions: two triggers report new and updated prospects, and six actions create prospects, manage campaign membership, change a status, or add a domain to your do-not-contact list.

Three outcomes, each tied to a real operation. Inbound leads that enter an outbound sequence: a form or a CRM feeds Create or Update Prospect, then Add Prospect to Campaign drops the person into the sequence that fits. A sales team that hears about every change: Updated Prospect fires the moment a prospect changes in PersistIQ, so a status change can reach your CRM or your team channel. Clients who stop getting cold emails: when a deal closes, Dissociate Prospect From Campaign takes the person out, and Add Do Not Contact Domain protects the whole company.

Now the part the app page does not say. There is no search on Zapier for PersistIQ: a Zap cannot look up a prospect before acting. Every action that targets an existing prospect relies on the email you pass it, so the email from earlier steps has to be exact. And Updated Prospect fires on any change, including the ones your own Zaps make.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven words you will meet in the editor, in plain terms.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. On PersistIQ, a prospect that is created or a prospect that is updated.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes or changes something for you, like adding a prospect to a campaign.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The count on your plan is a count of those.
Instant trigger
A trigger the app reports itself, the moment the event happens, so nothing waits for a timed check. Both PersistIQ triggers are instant.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it there otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a PersistIQ Zap really costs

Neither PersistIQ trigger costs a task. You pay for the actions your Zap completes, nothing else.

  • Trigger0 tasks
  • Each successful action1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Premium appNo

Each successful action counts as one task: creating a prospect, adding it to a campaign, updating its status. A failed action is not counted. PersistIQ is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan: 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps, one trigger and one action. Chaining Create Prospect and Add Prospect to Campaign, or adding a filter, makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan. Both triggers are instant, so the interval grid below does not apply to them.

Connect

Connect PersistIQ to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open your Zapier apps

Go to the Apps page of your Zapier account and click + Add connection. A connection is your PersistIQ account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that uses it.

  2. 02

    Pick PersistIQ

Type PersistIQ in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. You need an existing PersistIQ account, with access to the campaigns and prospects the Zap will touch.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

A new tab opens on PersistIQ. Sign in with the account that owns your campaigns, then grant Zapier access. The connection shows up in your apps list, ready to use.

First Zap

Your first PersistIQ Zap

GoalEach new prospect is added to the welcome campaign, then the sales channel is told.

  1. 01

    Pick the trigger

In the editor, choose PersistIQ as the app that starts the Zap and New Prospect as the event, then select your connection.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test: Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the connected account, so you map the next steps on a real prospect.

  3. 03

    Add the campaign action

Add PersistIQ again, choose Add Prospect to Campaign, pick the campaign, and map the prospect's email from the trigger. Test the step and check the result.

  4. 04

    Add the team message

Add the Slack step. This second action makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan; on the free plan, stop after the campaign action.

  5. 05

    Publish

Publish the Zap to switch it on. Each new prospect now starts it right away, and every action that succeeds counts as one task.

Triggers

The 2 PersistIQ triggers

2 events start a Zap when something happens in PersistIQ, and 2 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Prospect

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new prospects is created.”

Starts your Zap each time a prospect is created in PersistIQ, whether a rep added it by hand or another Zap created it. It is the natural entry point for anything that should happen once per new contact, like a CRM record or a first campaign.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
every new prospect should land in your CRM so marketing and sales see the same list.
Watch out
prospects created before the Zap was published are never picked up.
2

Updated Prospect

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a prospect is updated.”

Fires whenever an existing PersistIQ prospect changes. It is broad: a new status or an edited detail made by a rep can start the Zap, which makes it the way to keep other tools aligned with PersistIQ.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
a prospect's status changes and your CRM deal should move with it.
Watch out
if the same Zap writes back with Update Prospect Status, it sets itself off again; add a filter to break the loop.
Actions

The 6 PersistIQ actions

PersistIQ gives you 6 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Add Do Not Contact Domain

Action

In Zapier“Adds a new Do Not Contact domain.”

Adds a whole domain to your PersistIQ do-not-contact list, which covers every address at that company in one step.

When to use it
a company becomes a client or asks to be left alone, and nobody there should get outreach.
Watch out
the domain name is required; map the company domain, not a full email address.
2

Add Prospect to Campaign

Action

In Zapier“Adds a prospect to a campaign.”

Puts an existing prospect into one of your PersistIQ campaigns, identified by the prospect's email.

When to use it
a lead who downloads a guide should start the matching outbound sequence.
Watch out
campaign and prospect email are both required, so the campaign has to exist before the Zap runs.
3

Create or Update Prospect

Action

In Zapier“Creates or updates a prospect.”

Creates the prospect when it is new and updates it when it is already there, so one step covers both cases.

When to use it
your CRM keeps changing contact details and PersistIQ should follow without duplicates.
Watch out
combined with Updated Prospect in a loop-prone flow, each update can restart the Zap.
4

Create Prospect

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new prospect.”

Adds a brand new prospect to PersistIQ from what earlier steps carried. The email is the one field it cannot do without.

When to use it
a lead captured at an event should become a prospect the same day, without a CSV import.
Watch out
if the person may already exist, Create or Update Prospect is the safer choice.
5

Dissociate Prospect From Campaign

Action

In Zapier“Dissociate a prospect from a campaign. Return a flag indicating whether the lead was dissociated from the campaign (lead_dissociated).”

Takes a prospect out of a campaign and tells you whether the removal actually happened.

When to use it
a deal closes in your CRM and the client should stop receiving the sequence.
Watch out
campaign and email are both required; read the returned flag before assuming the person left.
6

Update Prospect Status

Action

In Zapier“Updates prospect status.”

Changes the status of a prospect found by email, so PersistIQ reflects what happened in another tool.

When to use it
a meeting booked in your calendar tool should mark the prospect accordingly.
Watch out
the prospect email is required, and this change can set off Updated Prospect.
When it breaks

When a PersistIQ Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to PersistIQ, and no limit specific to the app is documented. What breaks comes from the required fields and from Zapier's general limits.

Read these four cases before you publish. If a Zap still misbehaves, the Zapier troubleshooting page is the next stop.

  • The Zap keeps setting itself off

A Zap that listens to Updated Prospect and writes back with Update Prospect Status or Create or Update Prospect fires again on its own change and burns through tasks.
  • Past prospects never show up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Prospects already in PersistIQ are not picked up; moving them is a separate job.
  • A big import stalls

When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import of prospects or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back.
  • The campaign is missing

Campaign actions require a campaign that exists in the connected account. If it was deleted or never created, there is nothing for the step to target.

FAQ

PersistIQ Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the PersistIQ Zapier integration free?
Yes. PersistIQ is not a premium app, so it works on the free Zapier plan. That plan gives you 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. A free Zap can be New Prospect followed by Add Prospect to Campaign, or a form in another app followed by Create Prospect. Adding a filter or a second action makes it a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a PersistIQ Zap use?
One per action that completes successfully. New Prospect and Updated Prospect never cost a task. Each of the six PersistIQ actions counts as one task when it works, and so does any action in another app. A failed action is not counted against your plan. In a Zap with several actions, each successful one counts on its own: creating a prospect and then adding it to a campaign uses two tasks per lead.
03Does PersistIQ trigger Zaps in real time?
Yes, both PersistIQ triggers are instant. PersistIQ tells Zapier itself the moment a prospect is created or updated, and the Zap starts right away. The plan intervals, 15 minutes on the free plan, do not apply to them. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt. The trigger type is set by the app and cannot be changed from the editor, so there is nothing to tune on your side.
04What does it take to connect PersistIQ to Zapier?
An existing PersistIQ account, with access to the campaigns and prospects the Zap will use. Connecting takes three moves: open the Apps page of your Zapier account and click + Add connection, search for PersistIQ and click Add connection, then sign in to PersistIQ in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. Create your campaigns first, since two of the actions require you to pick one. Without one, the campaign field stays empty.
05Why does a PersistIQ Zap keep running on its own?
Usually because it changes the prospects its own trigger watches. Updated Prospect fires on any change to a prospect. If the same Zap then runs Update Prospect Status or Create or Update Prospect on that person, the change starts the Zap again, and your task count drains fast. Add a filter that stops the run when nothing relevant changed, or split the work so the Zap that writes never listens to updates.
06What if the PersistIQ operation you need is not on Zapier?
Then Zapier will not cover it alone. On Zapier, PersistIQ offers two triggers and six actions, and no search: a Zap cannot look up a prospect or a campaign before acting. Everything outside prospects, campaign membership, status and blocked domains is not available from the editor. Check whether the need can be expressed with those actions; if not, another automation tool may be needed for that part of your sales process.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for PersistIQ?
It depends on your criteria, not on a single winner. On Zapier, PersistIQ gives you two instant triggers and six actions but no search, so speed is fine and lookups are the gap. Count the actions each new prospect will run, since each successful one is a task. Check whether your flows fit in two steps or need filters and chains of actions. Then compare those needs with what each tool offers for PersistIQ before you build.
