Which AI writing tool should your marketing team use in 2026?

A good AI writer drafts your ads, emails and posts in your voice, for less than a streaming subscription.

You asked an AI for a promo email and got "Unlock the power of our game-changing offer." Clean, and exactly like everyone else's. The model isn't the problem. It just doesn't know your brand, your buyer or what you've already shipped. The right AI writer fixes that first, then helps you move fast.

The short answer. Claude writes the most natural long-form copy for $20 a month. ChatGPT does everything (copy, images, web research) for $20. Jasper is the one built for a marketing team sharing brand voice and approvals, at $59 per user per month. Copy.ai gives 5 seats for $24 a month. Anyword scores your ad copy before you spend. Writesonic ties articles to how often AI answers cite you.

We compared official pricing, brand voice features and user reviews, reading the negative ones first. Then we worked out what each tool costs over a year, for a solo marketer and for a team of three.

How we rank

How we compared and scored

This page is about marketing copy: LinkedIn posts, emails, ads, product pages, sales pages, blog posts. To reword existing text, our paraphrasing tool ranking fits better; to make AI text read less mechanical, see the AI humanizer ranking.

We went through official pricing, feature pages (brand voice, templates, integrations) and public reviews, starting with the worst ones. To get in, a tool must publish a price and be able to hold a brand voice, either with a dedicated feature or with saved instructions.

ChatGPT and Claude keep the scores from their own reviews: a tool has one score everywhere in our Labs. What changes here is how we read each criterion as marketers. Value is the cost over a year for one and three people. Features means copy quality and how well the brand voice holds. Integrations means where your copy ends up: CMS, browser, Google Docs.

Best for writing quality

Claude

4.2/5

Claude ranks first because it does the hardest part of the job best: a draft you don't feel like rewriting. On a 600-word newsletter or a sales page, it varies sentence length and skips the stock phrases better than the rest. That's also what copywriters say most often in forum threads.

For marketing, the feature that matters is Projects. Drop in your style guide, your three best pieces, your persona sheet and your banned-phrase list. Every chat in the project starts from them. It's a brand voice without paying for a dedicated tool. The free tier is enough to judge it over a real week; Pro is $20 a month, or $200 a year.

The catch: usage is relative. Anthropic sells Max as "5x" Pro, never as a message count, and long chats with lots of files drain a session faster. One Pro subscriber on Reddit says five prompts used 88% of a session. Claude also doesn't generate images, so post visuals need a second tool. Our full Claude review breaks down every tier.

Standout features
  • Projects to hold your style guide and samples
  • Most natural long-form prose
  • Usable free tier
+Pros
  • ✓Copy that reads least like AI
  • ✓Brand voice without a dedicated tool
  • ✓$200 a year on annual Pro
−Cons
  • ✗Usage caps with no published message count
  • ✗No image generation
  • ✗No shared team space on Pro
Verdict

The best writer for one or two people. Set up a Project with your style guide on day one.

Most versatile

ChatGPT

4.2/5

ChatGPT is the Swiss Army knife here. In one chat you write the ad, ask for three hook variations, generate the post image and check a competitor's price with web search. For a solo marketer juggling channels, nothing else covers this much for $20 a month.

Two settings matter for brand voice. Custom instructions apply to every chat: put your tone and banned phrases there. Custom GPTs and Projects then hold reference docs per client or brand. For a team, Business costs $20 per seat billed yearly, two seats minimum.

The catch: out of the box, ChatGPT writes like ChatGPT. Bullet lists, "unlock" and summary conclusions creep back fast without examples. Our full ChatGPT review compares every plan.

Standout features
  • Copy, images and web search in one place
  • Custom GPTs per brand
  • Web search and images in the same chat
+Pros
  • ✓Most versatile for a solo marketer
  • ✓Post images included
  • ✓Huge integration ecosystem
−Cons
  • ✗Recognizable style without examples
  • ✗Writes like ChatGPT without examples
  • ✗Business needs two seats
Verdict

The pick if you want one subscription for everything. Start with Plus, not Go.

Best for marketing teams

Jasper

4.1/5

Jasper is the only tool here built first for a marketing team. Pro includes 2 brand voices, 5 knowledge assets (product sheets, style guide) and 3 audiences, so the same launch can be written for a CIO and for a buyer, each with their own arguments. Canvas is the writing workspace, and agents handle routine jobs: briefs, articles, social repurposing.

The price is a team tool's price: $59 a month billed yearly, $69 monthly, for a single user. Beyond that, Jasper sends you to sales and the Business plan, custom-priced with a 12-month commitment. That's where you get unlimited brand voices, API, SSO and the translation and GEO agents. Three separate Pro accounts run $2,124 a year, with no shared space.

The catch: Jasper runs on the same frontier models as its rivals. For one person, the copy isn't better than Claude's or ChatGPT's, and the price gap is wide. Reviews agree: it pays off once several writers need to sound the same. Thinking of leaving? Our Jasper alternatives page lists the options.

Standout features
  • 2 brand voices, 5 knowledge assets, 3 audiences on Pro
  • Agents for marketing workflows
  • Browser extension and integrations marketplace
+Pros
  • ✓Built for team consistency
  • ✓Audiences to adapt one message
  • ✓7-day trial on Pro
−Cons
  • ✗$59 a month for a single user
  • ✗Multiple users means a custom quote
  • ✗Copy quality close to $20 assistants
Verdict

The right call when three or more people write for one brand. Alone, pick Claude or ChatGPT.

Cheapest for a team

Copy.ai

3.9/5

Copy.ai changed jobs: it now pitches itself as a go-to-market (GTM) automation platform. For a small team, the plan that matters is still Chat: $24 a month billed yearly, 5 seats included, unlimited chat words and access to OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models. You pick the model per task in one interface.

Do the math for three people: $288 a year for Copy.ai Chat, versus $720 for three ChatGPT Business seats billed yearly. Nothing else here gets that low for a team. Automated workflows, which chain research, writing and formatting, start on Growth at $1,000 a month: a different league.

The catch is trust. Trustpilot sits around 1.8 to 1.9 out of 5, with repeated complaints about login issues, support and cancellations that didn't stick. The old free plan is gone. Pay monthly for the first month and keep your cancellation confirmation.

Standout features
  • 5 seats on Chat
  • OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models
  • Unlimited chat words
+Pros
  • ✓Cheapest team plan
  • ✓Several models in one app
  • ✓Monthly option at $29
−Cons
  • ✗Very low Trustpilot rating on support
  • ✗Workflows start at $1,000 a month
  • ✗No free plan anymore
Verdict

The best price to equip a small team. Start monthly to judge support.

Best for ad copy

Anyword

3.8/5

Anyword's angle is data. Every variation it writes gets a predicted performance score, so you can sort 20 headlines and keep the best three before they hit your ad account. Starter includes unlimited words, 1 brand voice and a Chrome extension for $39 a month billed yearly.

Data-Driven, at $79 a month billed yearly, covers 3 seats and adds real-time predictions as you edit by hand: useful when a copywriter tweaks a headline and wants to know if it got better or worse. For a team of three, that's $948 a year, extra seats at $49 a month billed yearly.

The catch: a score is a prediction, not a result. Use it to filter, then run a real A/B test. The trial stops at 2,500 words, which is enough for ads but tight for a blog post. And long-form copy isn't its strength: for a 1,500-word article, Claude does better.

Standout features
  • Predicted performance score per variation
  • Real-time scoring while you edit (Data-Driven)
  • Unlimited words
+Pros
  • ✓Shortlists ad copy before spend
  • ✓3 seats on Data-Driven
  • ✓Chrome extension
−Cons
  • ✗Predictions don't replace an A/B test
  • ✗Trial capped at 2,500 words
  • ✗Weaker on long-form
Verdict

The specialist for ad and landing page copy. Pair it with a general assistant for long pieces.

Best for SEO and AI search

Writesonic

3.8/5

Writesonic moved from all-purpose writer to GEO (generative engine optimization, getting cited by AI answers). Every plan tracks your prompts in ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, audits your site and writes articles to fill the gaps. The WordPress integration publishes directly; Search Console ties each article to your clicks.

Starter is $79 a month billed yearly, $948 a year, for 15 AI articles a month, 50 tracked prompts and one user. Basic is $199 with 2 users and 25 articles. Expensive for social posts, reasonable if the article also has to get you cited by AI.

The catch: reviews describe drafts that need editing, with conclusions that repeat the body. Several users also report charges after cancelling. Use the no-card trial and note your renewal date.

Standout features
  • Brand tracking in ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews
  • Article writing tied to site audits
  • WordPress and Search Console
+Pros
  • ✓Only one that links articles to AI visibility
  • ✓No-card trial
  • ✓Direct WordPress publishing
−Cons
  • ✗$79 a month minimum
  • ✗Drafts need editing
  • ✗Billing complaints after cancellation
Verdict

For a blog that also targets AI answers, not for writing your posts.

Real cost

What an AI writer really costs over a year

Prices are shown monthly; your budget is yearly. Here's each tool for one person, then for a team of three, on annual billing where it exists.

Solo marketer

Claude Pro: $200 a year. ChatGPT Plus: $240. Copy.ai Chat: $288. Anyword Starter: $468. Jasper Pro: $708. Writesonic Starter: $948. Nearly a 5x spread for similar copy quality: alone, pay for an assistant, not a platform.

Team of three

Copy.ai Chat: $288, with 5 seats included. ChatGPT Business: $720 (3 x $20 x 12). Anyword Data-Driven: $948 for 3 seats. Jasper: $2,124 for three separate Pro accounts, or a Business quote. Writesonic Basic: $2,388 for 2 users, the third at $50 a month extra.

The hidden cost: editing

AI copy shipped as is costs you credibility. Budget 10 to 20 minutes of editing per email or post, more for an article. A tool that holds your voice better saves that time every week, and that's usually the real math.

  • Price it yearly for your real number of users
  • Check whether the team plan has a seat minimum
  • Read the cancellation terms before paying annually
  • Try the tool on three of your real pieces, not a demo prompt
  • Check whether your data trains the models
Brand voice

Make AI write like your brand

Brand voice is set up once and reused. These steps work in Claude, ChatGPT and Jasper.

01

Pick three pieces that sound like you

An email that converted, a post that got replies, a page on your site. Three real samples teach a model more than a list of adjectives. Skip agency-written copy if you don't like its tone.

02

Write your banned-phrase list

"Unlock", "game-changer", "in today's fast-paced world", "elevate"... List 15 to 20 phrases you never want to read. It's the most effective rule against AI style, and the easiest to check when editing.

03

Describe your reader in five lines

Their job, what worries them, what they've already tried, the word they use for your product. Jasper calls it an audience; in Claude or ChatGPT it's one more doc in the Project.

04

Store it in the right place

Claude: one Project per brand. ChatGPT: custom instructions for tone, a Project or GPT per client. Jasper: a Brand Voice and its knowledge assets. Every request then starts from that base without pasting anything.

05

Rewrite the first and last sentence

That's where all AI copy sounds alike: a generic hook and a wrap-up that repeats everything. Rewrite those two lines yourself. The rest takes two minutes to fix.

By channel

Which tool for which marketing copy

No tool wins everywhere. Here are our picks by channel, with the tip that changes the result.

01

Google and Meta ads

Anyword

Ask for 20 headlines of 30 characters max, then shortlist with Anyword's score or ask ChatGPT to rank them against one specific buyer objection. Then run them in your ad platform: no model knows your click-through rate.

Tool
Anyword or ChatGPT
Tip
Character limit in the prompt
02

Emails and newsletters

Claude

Long, personal emails are Claude's turf. Give it your last email that performed and ask for "same structure, new topic". Write the subject line yourself: it decides the open.

Tool
Claude
Tip
Start from an email that worked
03

Blog posts and SEO

Writesonic

For an article that has to rank, start from an outline built on your buyer's real questions, then draft section by section. Writesonic adds AI answer tracking; Claude writes better copy if you do the research yourself.

Tool
Writesonic or Claude
Tip
Draft one section at a time
04

LinkedIn and social posts

Jasper

For a team posting for several spokespeople, Jasper keeps one voice per audience. Alone, a Claude Project with your ten best posts does the job. Skip leading emojis and default bullet lists: they're the tell of a generated post.

Tool
Jasper for teams, Claude solo
Tip
Your 10 best posts as samples
05

Ecommerce product pages

ChatGPT

For 50 product pages, lock one approved template first (structure, length, keywords), then fill it product by product from a spec sheet. ChatGPT and Claude both handle a pasted spec table well.

Tool
ChatGPT or Claude
Tip
Approve one template before volume
06

Sales pages

Claude

Feed the tool your real testimonials and numbers, never the other way round: a model will happily invent a plausible "+40%". Claude holds a long sales argument best; check every number against your data.

Tip
Supply proof, don't ask for it

FAQ

Your questions about AI writers for marketing

  • What is the best AI writing tool for marketing?

For one person, Claude or ChatGPT at about $20 a month: they write as well as the specialist tools, which often run on the same models. Jasper becomes the best pick when several people must write in one brand voice and get copy approved. For ad copy you want to score before launch, look at Anyword.

  • Is there a free AI writer that's good enough for marketing?

Yes, to start. The free tiers of ChatGPT and Claude handle posts, emails and product copy. What's missing is memory of your brand and volume. Tip: keep a one-page brand doc (tone, banned phrases, three sample pieces) and paste it at the top of every chat. The paid marketing tools dropped their free plans: Jasper and Anyword offer 7-day trials instead.

  • Does Google penalize AI-generated content?

Not for being AI-generated. Google says it rewards helpful content however it's produced, and targets pages mass-produced with no value for the reader. An article generated in two minutes and published as is reads like the other 50 on page one. Add what the model doesn't have: your numbers, your customer stories, a screenshot, a clear opinion.

  • Is Jasper still worth it compared with ChatGPT?

Only for a team. Jasper Pro is $59 a month billed yearly for a single user, against $20 for ChatGPT Plus. The premium buys brand voices, audiences, team templates and approvals. If you write alone, a solid system prompt in ChatGPT or Claude covers most of what Brand Voice does.

  • How do I keep my brand voice when writing with AI?

Give the model examples, not adjectives. "Warm but expert" means nothing to it; three pieces you liked, a list of banned phrases and a target length do. Put them in a Claude Project, a ChatGPT Project or custom GPT, or a Jasper Brand Voice. Then always rewrite the first sentence yourself: that's where AI copy all sounds the same.

  • Can AI predict which ad copy will perform?

Partly. Anyword gives each variation a predicted performance score, trained on ad and marketing data, and its Data-Driven plan updates that score as you edit. Treat it as a filter to pick 3 variations out of 20, not as a replacement for a live A/B test in your ad platform.

  • Who owns the copy an AI writer produces?

Anthropic's terms assign you whatever rights it holds in Claude's output, if any; for ChatGPT, read the content clause of OpenAI's terms. The catch is copyright: the US Copyright Office only protects what a human created: a prompt alone isn't enough, though your own selection, arrangement and edits can be registered. Rework your key assets (tagline, homepage, campaign concept) by hand, which also makes them better.

  • Can an AI writer handle e-commerce product descriptions?

Yes, if you feed it facts, not just the product name. Paste the specs (material, size, care, use case) and two descriptions you like, then ask for a short and a long version. Without that data the model fills gaps with made-up details, and a wrong description costs you a return. Tip: run 10 products first, review them, add your fixes to the instructions, and only then run the rest of the catalog.

  • Do I need an SEO tool on top of an AI writer?

If you publish more than four articles a month, yes. A general assistant writes well but can't see your rankings or keywords. Writesonic ties writing to your brand's visibility in ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews; for keyword research, our SEO tool ranking goes further.
