Best No-Code App Builders 2026
Ten builders compared, one pick per project.
The short answer: for internal tools on your database, pick Retool. For a full product without a developer, Bubble. For a client portal on Airtable or Google Sheets, Softr. For a mobile app you want to own, FlutterFlow. And if you want a working prototype by tonight, describe it to Lovable. We compared ten builders on the same five criteria, using official pricing pages and the gotchas their users report.

How we compared and scored
Every tool here has its own review, and this ranking reuses those scores unchanged: a tool has one score across the whole site. We compared official pricing pages, vendor docs and user reports from official forums and communities. Features weigh most, because hitting the ceiling is what makes teams migrate. Support weighs least, since active communities often fill the gap. We also looked at what other rankings skip: real usage costs, hidden quotas and whether you can leave with your code.
- FeaturesData model, logic, automations, AI, code export and how far the tool goes before you hit a wall.25%
- Ease of useOnboarding, the editor, learning curve and time to a first live app.20%
- Value for moneyEntry price, free tier, per-user or usage costs as the project grows.20%
- IntegrationsDatabases and APIs you can connect, native connectors, webhooks.20%
- Customer supportDocs, community and how fast the vendor helps when something breaks.15%
Our ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link ever changes a score.
Retool
Retool doesn't try to build consumer apps. It does one job better than anyone: putting an admin UI on data you already have. Connect Postgres, a REST endpoint or GraphQL, drag in a table, a form and a button, and you have a working screen within the hour. That's why it scores 4.8 on features, the highest mark in this ranking.
The catch is the pricing grid. Retool counts three kinds of seats: builders ($10 a month billed yearly on Team, $50 on Business), internal users ($5, then $15) and external users (free up to 50, then $8 each). Three developers serving twenty colleagues pay very little. A portal open to 300 customers gets expensive fast, which is exactly where Softr wins. Hence its 3.4 on value.
- SQL, REST and GraphQL queries in one editor
- Scheduled workflows for background jobs
- Self-hosted edition for data residency
- Free plan usable in production for up to 5 people
- ✓Fastest path to an admin panel on a real database
- ✓External users free up to 50
- ✓Drop into JavaScript when the editor runs out
- ✗Three seat counters to watch (builder, internal, external)
- ✗Wrong tool for consumer apps or marketing sites
- ✗You need basic SQL to get the most out of it
Pick Retool if you're building tools for your own team on existing data. Skip it if your users are hundreds of customers.
Bubble
Bubble still goes further than any other visual builder. UI, database, logic, payments and user accounts all live in one place, and full marketplaces run on it. In 2026 it added an AI agent inside the editor that drafts screens from a prompt.
The real question is the bill. Bubble charges in workload units (WU), not seats: every search, workflow and API call burns some. On the official forum, one builder burned roughly 7 million WU in 24 hours against a usual 400,000 a month, close to $1,000 in overages. The culprits are always the same: an API loop running on its own, or an unfiltered search on a large table. Check the Logs tab weekly, find your hungriest workflows, and keep overages off until usage is stable. There's no code export either: leaving Bubble means rebuilding.
- Database, logic and UI in one editor
- Built-in AI agent
- Thousands of plugins (payments, maps, AI)
- Web and mobile apps from the same plan
- ✓Highest ceiling of any visual no-code tool
- ✓Huge community: almost every problem already has a forum answer
- ✓Payments and user accounts out of the box
- ✗Usage-based bill that's hard to predict
- ✗No code export
- ✗Steepest learning curve here (3.5 on ease of use)
Pick Bubble to launch a real product without a developer, and watch your WU from day one. If you want to own your code, look at WeWeb or Lovable.
Softr
Softr is the easiest tool in this ranking (4.7 on ease of use) and has the best-rated support (4.5). Pick a data source and a portal template and you get pages with login, role-based permissions and forms that write back to your data. For an agency client portal or a member directory, nothing is quicker.
What most reviews skip: team members and clients share one user count. Basic gives you 5 team plus 5 clients, Pro jumps to 10 and 50, and extra user packs are only sold on Pro. If your portal needs 200 clients, price it on Business before you build. And when the portal starts behaving like real software with complex logic, Softr hits its ceiling. That's the moment to move to Bubble, or to WeWeb with Xano.
- Portals with login and roles in a few hours
- Airtable, Google Sheets, SQL and its own database
- Forms that write straight to your data
- Best-rated support in the ranking
- ✓Fastest learning curve
- ✓Low entry price on yearly billing
- ✓Ideal for exposing existing data to clients
- ✗Team and clients share the same user quota
- ✗Tops out when logic gets complex
- ✗No code export
Pick Softr for a portal or directory on data you already have. If you're building a full product, it will run out of road.
Xano
Xano has no user-facing UI. It handles everything behind it: a PostgreSQL database, APIs, auth and scheduled tasks. You design each endpoint block by block, and any frontend can call it, whether that's WeWeb, FlutterFlow, Bubble or hand-written code. Result: 4.7 on features, but 3.6 on value, since the first paid tier costs $85 a month.
Two details should shape your plan. The free tier caps you at 10 requests every 20 seconds, fine for building, useless for a live demo or a load check. And once you upgrade, you can't drop back to free. Upgrade on launch day, not before. Paid plans have no rate limit at all.
- Managed PostgreSQL with no record cap on paid plans
- Visual API builder
- Background tasks and scheduled jobs
- Auto-generated API docs
- ✓The strongest engine for a no-code stack that has to scale
- ✓Works with any frontend
- ✓No rate limit on paid plans
- ✗No way back to the free plan after upgrading
- ✗Steep entry price for a side project
- ✗You need to think in tables and endpoints
Pick Xano as soon as your app has real business logic or several frontends. For a simple portal on a spreadsheet, it's overkill.
Glide
Glide turns a spreadsheet into a mobile app in minutes, and for a beginner the result is the most polished in this ranking (4.5 on ease of use). Inventory, field service logs, staff directories: for a team living in Google Sheets, it's often the right call.
Know three limits before you pay. Explorer ($19 a month billed yearly) publishes one app for 100 users; Maker ($49) publishes three with unlimited personal users. But that unlimited has a ceiling, because the users table stays capped at 25,000 rows, a point raised more than once in the Glide community. Each plan also includes a quota of data updates (250 on Explorer, 500 on Maker), then $0.02 per extra update. Glide staff say it plainly: it's not built for consumer apps with thousands of users.
- Mobile app from Google Sheets, Excel or Glide Tables
- The most polished templates in the ranking
- Computed columns and AI actions without formulas
- Unlimited personal users from Maker
- ✓Cleanest result for a first project
- ✓Great fit for field teams
- ✓Free plan good enough to validate the idea
- ✗Updates billed beyond the quota ($0.02 each)
- ✗Users table capped at 25,000 rows
- ✗Not built for consumer scale, and no code export
Pick Glide to give your team an app built on a spreadsheet. For a product sold to thousands of customers, look elsewhere.
WeWeb
WeWeb is the mirror image of Xano: it only does the frontend. Full styling control, reusable components and, above all, a Vue.js code export you can host yourself. It's the agency pick for demanding client UIs and the natural partner for Xano or Supabase (4.2 on integrations).
The pricing takes a minute to read: you pay for the seat (Essential $20 a month billed yearly, Pro $50 per developer) and for hosting each app separately (from $13 for a simple frontend up to $208 for heavy traffic). The tip few reviews give: from Essential, a self-hosted export pays no WeWeb hosting fee. For an agency shipping ten frontends, that's a big gap. The flip side: without a backend, WeWeb does nothing, and you need to understand API basics.
- Vue.js code export and self-hosting
- Full, pixel-level styling control
- Native Xano, Supabase and REST connectors
- Reusable components across projects
- ✓No lock-in: the code leaves with you
- ✓Most design freedom in the ranking
- ✓Self-hosted export with no hosting fee from Essential
- ✗Needs a separate backend
- ✗Seats and hosting billed separately
- ✗Learning curve closer to development than to spreadsheets
Pick WeWeb with Xano for a serious stack with no lock-in. If you want one tool that does everything, Bubble is simpler.
FlutterFlow
FlutterFlow generates real Flutter code, Google's framework for mobile apps. Design your screens, connect Firebase or Supabase, and ship to the App Store and Google Play. From Basic ($39 a month) you can download your code and walk away with it. No other tool here gives you a native, exportable mobile app at that price.
Community feedback is consistent on one point: building is fast, maintaining costs more than expected. Generated code needs touch-ups, some FlutterFlow updates have broken projects with no rollback, and bug threads are common. The tip: connect the project to GitHub (Growth plan) as soon as you have real users, so you own the history. And budget $99 a year for the Apple developer account plus a one-time $25 for Google.
- Downloadable Flutter code from Basic
- Publishing to the App Store and Google Play
- Native Firebase and Supabase
- Custom code when the editor isn't enough
- ✓A truly native app, not a wrapped web page
- ✓No lock-in thanks to code export
- ✓Reasonable entry price
- ✗Post-launch maintenance heavier than the build
- ✗Tool updates can break a project
- ✗Support rated slow (3.5)
Pick FlutterFlow for a mobile app you want to own. For an internal tool or a portal, it's too much work.
Lovable
Lovable isn't a visual editor: you describe the app in plain English and the AI writes it. What you get is React code wired to Supabase and synced to GitHub, so any developer can pick it up. To put a working prototype in front of customers in an afternoon, nothing is faster, and that's why it's in this ranking: almost every reader now asks whether they need a no-code builder or an AI app builder.
Two concrete limits. Credits: 100 a month on Pro, roughly 3 a day, vanish fast when a screen won't cooperate. And security: generated apps have gone live with Supabase row-level security switched off, leaving data readable by anyone. Before launch, check those rules table by table, or have a developer review them.
- App generated from a description
- React and Supabase code synced to GitHub
- One-click deploy
- Iterate by chatting
- ✓Shortest path from idea to live prototype
- ✓Standard code, zero lock-in
- ✓Instant onboarding (4.3 on ease of use)
- ✗Credits burn fast while iterating
- ✗Data access rules are on you
- ✗No direct support on Pro
Pick Lovable to validate an idea fast and keep your code. For production software with no developer to review it, Bubble is the safer bet.
Adalo
Adalo is the simplest way to get a mobile app into the stores without code. Drag in screens, connect a database, and Adalo handles the build. For a booking app, a loyalty app or a directory, that's enough, and onboarding is gentle (4.2 on ease of use).
It hits its ceiling sooner than the rest though (3.8 on features): complex logic and long lists slow the app down. Do the real math: Builder at $52 a month billed yearly, plus $99 a year for Apple and $25 for Google. The free plan doesn't publish to the stores and caps you at 500 records, so it's for mockups, not launches.
- App Store and Google Play publishing without code
- Very approachable drag-and-drop editor
- Built-in database
- Community component library
- ✓Simplest route to a first mobile app
- ✓Built-in database, nothing to connect
- ✓Clear yearly pricing
- ✗Slows down as logic or data grows
- ✗No code export
- ✗Apple and Google developer accounts on top
Pick Adalo for a simple mobile app when nobody on the team codes. If the app needs to grow, FlutterFlow will hold up better.
Pory
Pory does one thing: turn an Airtable base into a site, directory or member portal. Section-based setup is quick (4.2 on ease of use), and Pro includes unlimited members for one portal, which makes it interesting for large communities.
It still closes the ranking. It only reads Airtable, no Google Sheets or SQL. It struggles once logic gets complicated. And for similar money, Softr does more. Compare the two on your case before paying: one portal with many members can come out cheaper on Pory; several portals or mixed sources, Softr wins.
- Airtable portal built in sections
- Unlimited members on Pro
- Custom domain and member login
- 7-day trial, no credit card
- ✓Very quick for an Airtable directory
- ✓Unlimited members from Pro
- ✓No-card trial
- ✗Airtable only
- ✗Limited logic
- ✗Less complete than Softr at a similar price
Pick Pory for an Airtable directory with lots of members. In every other case, start with Softr.
How to choose your no-code builder
The question isn't which builder is most powerful. It's what you're building and who it's for. An internal app for ten colleagues and a product sold to a thousand customers don't call for the same tool. Start from the project, then check the three costs pricing pages hide: users, usage and leaving.
An internal tool for your team
A portal for clients or members
A full product to sell
A mobile app in the stores
- Write one sentence: what you're building and for whom.
- Count users a year out: team, clients, external. Some tools bill each group separately.
- Find the variable part of the bill: Bubble WU, Glide updates, Lovable credits.
- Check whether you can export your code or data the day you want to leave.
- Don't upgrade Xano before launch: there's no way back to free.
- Review data access rules before going live, especially on AI-generated apps.
- Add Apple and Google developer accounts if you're targeting the stores.
Best No-Code App Builders 2026 · FAQ
What is the best no-code app builder in 2026?
There isn't one, there's one per project. Retool leads (4.3 out of 5) for internal tools, and Xano (4.1) is still the pick for the backend. For a full product in a single tool, Bubble (4.2). For a client portal, Softr (4.2). Write one sentence about what you're building and for whom: the right tool almost always falls out of it.What is the best free no-code app builder?
Retool and Softr, for small teams. Retool's free plan runs in production for up to 5 users, Softr's for 5 users in total, and Glide publishes for free to 10 personal users. Bubble's free plan doesn't put your app live, and Adalo's doesn't publish to the stores. Xano's free tier caps you at 10 requests every 20 seconds: fine for building, not for real traffic.Which no-code builder is easiest for beginners?
Softr, then Glide. Softr scores 4.7 on ease of use and gets you a portal with logins in a day. Glide scores 4.5 and turns a spreadsheet into a polished mobile app in minutes. Lovable is just as fast to start (4.3) since you only describe the app, but you'll still need to check what the AI wrote before going live.No-code or vibe coding with Lovable: which should you choose?
Lovable for a fast prototype and code you own; a visual builder like Bubble or Softr for an app you'll maintain yourself. AI writes fast, but you have to review what it ships, starting with data access rules. A visual editor is slower at first and more predictable later. Plenty of teams do both: prototype in Lovable, then build the durable version in the right tool. Can I build a mobile app without code?
Yes. FlutterFlow if you want a native app and your own code, Adalo if nobody on the team codes. Both publish to the App Store and Google Play, FlutterFlow from $39 a month and Adalo from $52 a month billed yearly. Add $99 a year for the Apple developer account and a one-time $25 for Google in every case: no builder includes them. How much does a no-code app really cost?
Entry plans run from $19 to $85 a month, but usage is what moves the bill. Bubble charges workload units, Glide charges $0.02 per update over quota, Lovable runs on credits, and Retool charges per builder and per internal user. Before you pick, estimate your users and your traffic a year out, then price that, not the entry plan. What is the best no-code tool for building a SaaS?
Bubble if you want everything in one tool and can live without code export. WeWeb plus Xano if you want a stack that scales and can be handed to developers later. Many founders validate with Lovable first, then rebuild on one of these once paying users show up.Can I export my code from a no-code builder?
Yes with FlutterFlow (Flutter code from Basic), WeWeb (Vue.js, self-hostable) and Lovable (React synced to GitHub). No with Bubble, Glide, Softr, Adalo and Pory: leaving means rebuilding. Xano keeps your data in PostgreSQL, which you can export. If developers will take over one day, pick an exporting tool from the start.
