What is the best online fitness coaching software in 2026?
Good coaching software delivers your programs, tracks your clients and collects their payments without charging more every time you sign someone new.
You coach clients remotely, or partly remotely, and you are tired of PDFs, spreadsheets and scattered DMs. Online personal training software brings four things together: a program builder, an app where clients see their workouts and log results, progress tracking, and recurring billing. Every vendor promises the same list. What separates them is the price once your roster grows, the add-ons, and whether payments work where you live.
The short answer. Everfit is the best overall, free for up to 5 clients and the most complete once you pay. Trainerize is the pick for a branded app you pay for once, at $169 (My PT Hub does it for $95). TrueCoach is the easiest for writing programs if you coach from the US, UK, Canada or Australia. My PT Hub gives you unlimited clients from $52 a month billed yearly.
What other roundups skip: client tiers and add-ons can double the bill, and one of the best-known tools only takes payments in four countries. We priced every tool at 5 and 30 clients. Running a gym rather than coaching online? Our ranking of gym management software is the better fit.
The ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.

How we compared and scored
This page answers one question: which software should an independent coach use to train clients online? It covers the platforms you run into when you search, Everfit, Trainerize, TrueCoach, PT Distinction and My PT Hub, plus two strong regional options, Hexfit and Harbiz.
We read each vendor's official pricing page, its help center where the price grid lives there, and reviews published by coaches on review platforms. All seven tools were compared on public information, without opening accounts. None of them has a full review in our Labs yet, so their scores start here and stay the same everywhere on the site.
Weights follow what costs you most when you pick wrong. Value counts most because it is priced at your real client count, add-ons included. Payments and the client app come next: a tool that cannot take payments where you live forces you to pay for a second one. The order follows the score, except Hexfit and Harbiz, placed last because their client apps are built first for French and Spanish speakers.

Everfit
Everfit gives you the most for the least at the start. The Starter plan is free for up to 5 clients, with no time limit, which is enough to launch an online offer without spending a dollar. Users keep making the same point: it has more features than anything else in this list, and you switch on only the modules you need.
Once you pass 5 clients, Pro is priced on your client count: $19 a month for 5, $95 for 50 and $290 for 300, about 15% less when billed yearly. Studio, built for teams, runs from $105 to $430. Your logo and brand colors are included on both Pro and Studio.
The catch is the add-ons. Taking payments and selling packages costs from $9 a month. Autoflow automation starts at $29, on-demand content at $25 (included on Studio), and meal plans at $39. A coach who wants everything can double the base price. Add it up before you commit.
Reviews flag three recurring issues: support that runs through text messages, a cancellation process people find hard, and meal logging that clients find tedious. One detail annoys coaches in particular: editing an exercise in your library does not update workouts you already scheduled.
Tip: stay on Starter while you have fewer than 5 clients and use that time to build your exercise library and program templates. All of it carries over when you upgrade.
- Free forever for up to 5 clients
- Pay-for-what-you-use modules
- Logo and colors included on Pro
- ✓Richest feature set in this ranking
- ✓No card to start
- ✓Fine-grained client tiers
- ✗Add-ons stack up fast
- ✗Cancellation described as hard
- ✗Text-message support
The best starting point for most online coaches, free or paid. Price your add-ons before moving to Pro: that is where the bill climbs.
Trainerize
Trainerize is the name most coaches meet first. It has a free Basic plan for one client, then Grow for two and Pro, priced on your client count from 5 up to 200. Studio Plus targets studios and is billed per location. Paying yearly saves 10%.
Be careful with the headline price. Trainerize's own pricing page shows two amounts for the same plans, such as $23 or $25 for 5 clients on Pro, and $9 or $10 for Grow. Check the figure at checkout, for your exact client count, rather than trusting the first number you see.
Its real edge is the branded app: $169 one-time setup on Pro. Most rivals charge for a custom app every month. Everything else is an add-on: integrated Stripe payments at $10 a month (included on Studio Plus), nutrition at $20 or $45, Business tools at $25, video at $10.
Reviews are mixed. They mention outages, workouts that fail to save, step and sleep sync problems, and billing errors during cancellation. Several coaches argue nutrition should be included, and that the exercise library is thin.
Tip: the 30-day trial has no client cap and drops you back to the free plan at the end, with no charge. Import your whole roster during that month to see the real tier waiting for you.
- $169 one-time branded app
- 30-day trial with unlimited clients
- Free plan for one client
- ✓Widely used by online coaches
- ✓Falls back to free after the trial
- ✓10% off on yearly billing
- ✗Contradictory prices on its own page
- ✗Nutrition, payments and video are paid add-ons
- ✗Outages and billing errors in reviews
A strong pick if a branded app matters and you want to pay for it once. Run the numbers with add-ons: nutrition plus payments adds $30 a month quickly.
TrueCoach
TrueCoach is one of the most pleasant tools for writing training programs. Coaches praise how easily you can plan weeks ahead, and several say it is hard to leave once you are used to it. A branded app is included from Standard.
Prices follow your client count: $26.34 a month up to 5, $57.99 up to 20, $136.99 up to 50. Client 21 moves you from Standard to Pro, which is $79 more a month for one extra person. That is the steepest jump in this ranking.
Payments run through Stripe with no extra subscription fee, but only for coaches based in the US, the UK, Australia and Canada. If you coach from anywhere else, you will need a second tool to get paid.
Reviews raise reliability issues, maintenance windows scheduled during UK business hours that some call US-centric, canned support replies, no way to export workouts, and price increases.
Tip: if you are at 18 or 19 clients, look hard before signing. Going from 20 to 21 clients costs more here than with any other tool on this page.
- Program weeks ahead with ease
- Branded app from Standard
- Payments with no add-on fee in the US
- ✓Very pleasant for writing programs
- ✓14-day trial, no card
- ✓Free for your clients
- ✗$79 jump at client 21
- ✗Payments limited to four countries
- ✗No workout export
The best pure programming tool for a coach in the US, UK, Canada or Australia. Watch the 20-client ceiling before you grow into it.
PT Distinction
PT Distinction charges a plan, then a fee for each client over the limit. Basic is $19.90 a month for 3 clients, Pro $59.90 for 25, and Master $89.90 for 50. Past that, each extra client costs $6 on Basic, $2.40 on Pro and $1.60 on Master.
That model removes the cliff edges. Elsewhere, client 21 or 36 bumps you into a new plan overnight. Here, a 26th client on Pro adds $2.40, not $30 or more. At 30 clients, Pro comes to $71.90 a month.
Branded iOS and Android apps are included on Pro and Master, and selling packages and taking payments are part of the product, not add-ons.
The weak spot is Basic. Each client past 3 costs $6, so at 8 clients Basic already reaches $49.90, close to the price of Pro, which includes your branded apps.
Tip: move to Pro once you reach 10 clients. That is the point where Basic plus extra clients costs more than Pro on its own.
- Extra clients from $1.60
- Branded iOS and Android apps on Pro
- No sudden tier jumps
- ✓One-month trial, no contract
- ✓Package sales built in
- ✓Predictable cost per new client
- ✗Basic gets expensive past 3 clients
- ✗Priced in dollars only
- ✗Branded apps only from Pro
A smart pick if your roster grows steadily and you hate surprise tier jumps. Skip Basic beyond a handful of clients.

My PT Hub
My PT Hub makes one simple promise: from Premium, your client count is unlimited. At $52 a month billed yearly, or $59 monthly, your price stays flat whether you coach 20 people or 80. Starter, at $25 a month, covers only 3 clients and works mostly as a way to try the product.
Payments are included, with nothing to add. A branded app costs $95 once on Starter and Premium, and comes included on Ultimate at $215 a month. Along with Trainerize, it is one of the two branded apps in this ranking you pay for once rather than monthly.
At 30 clients, Premium costs less than TrueCoach Pro by more than $80 a month, and you never think about tiers again. Below about 10 clients, the free and low tiers elsewhere make more sense.
Tip: the trial lasts 30 days with no card. Start it when you have at least 10 active clients, so you can compare Premium's flat price with the tier you would pay elsewhere.
- Unlimited clients from Premium
- Payments included
- Branded app for $95 one-time
- ✓Flat price as your roster grows
- ✓30-day trial, no card
- ✓Yearly discount
- ✗Starter capped at 3 clients
- ✗Ultimate is a big jump at $215
- ✗Less compelling under 10 clients
The right math past 20 clients if you want one flat price. Below that, Everfit's free tier or PT Distinction cost less.
Hexfit
Hexfit was built in Quebec for French-speaking coaches, and it scores higher than several tools above it. It sits sixth here only because most readers of this page coach in English. Users rate it very highly, and they say the same two things: clients get it without a walkthrough, and support answers fast.
Coaching Starter costs $19 a month for 5 clients, Solo $50, Growth $90 and Studio $250 for up to 500 clients. You are charged in the currency of your card, and yearly billing saves 10%. Client invoicing is included from Solo, and the app takes your brand colors from Growth.
Want your own app on the App Store and Google Play? That is a $99 monthly add-on, available on Studio only. Reviews also mention bugs on some phones, program sorting that takes several clicks, a learning curve on the coach side, and a price some call a bit high.
Tip: choose your tier on where you will be in six months. Moving from Solo to Growth mid-year adds $40 a month.
- Client app praised for simplicity
- Invoicing included from Solo
- Fast support in reviews
- ✓14-day trial, no card, no contract
- ✓Tiers up to 500 clients
- ✓Billed in your card's currency
- ✗Built for French-speaking coaches first
- ✗Store app is $99/month, Studio only
- ✗Bugs reported on some phones
The pick if your clients speak French. For an English-speaking roster, Everfit or Trainerize fit better.
Harbiz
Harbiz is a Spanish company that prices in euros, excluding VAT. Basic costs €19 a month for 5 clients, €39 for 15, €69 for 30 and €99 for 40. Pro starts at €119 for 50 and runs to €349 for 5,000. Paying yearly cuts 25%, the biggest annual discount in this ranking.
Pro brands the experience without a separate app. My APP publishes your own app to the stores, on quote, but you need your own Apple and Google developer accounts. Budget for that on top of the quote.
Watch the tiers: if you go over your client limit, Harbiz moves you up automatically. A coach at 15 clients who signs a 16th goes from €39 to €69 a month.
Tip: the 14-day trial has no client cap. Load your whole roster to see your real tier before paying yearly.
- 25% off yearly
- Tiers from 5 to 5,000 clients
- Built for Spanish-speaking clients
- ✓Trial with unlimited clients, no card
- ✓Branding included on Pro
- ✓Euro pricing
- ✗Automatic upgrade when you exceed a tier
- ✗Own app requires your own developer accounts
- ✗Priced in euros, not dollars
The best choice when your clients speak Spanish. For an English-only roster, the tools above are a closer fit.
What online coaching software really costs each month
Three billing models: client tiers (Everfit, TrueCoach, Hexfit, Harbiz), a plan plus a per-client fee (PT Distinction), or unlimited clients on a flat plan (My PT Hub Premium). Here is what that means in two real cases, at official prices before tax, billed yearly where available.
You are starting with 5 clients
Everfit: $0 on Starter. Hexfit: $17.10 billed yearly ($19 monthly). TrueCoach: $26.34. PT Distinction: $31.90 (Basic plus 2 extra clients). My PT Hub: $52 on Premium, since Starter stops at 3. Trainerize: $23 to $25 on Pro. Harbiz: €14 billed yearly. Spread: from zero to over $50 for the same job.
You have 30 clients
My PT Hub: $52 on Premium, unlimited. PT Distinction: $71.90 (Pro plus 5 extra clients). Harbiz: €52 billed yearly. TrueCoach: $136.99, because Standard stops at 20. Hexfit, Everfit and Trainerize show no tier at exactly 30 clients: expect between $50 (Solo) and $90 (Growth) on Hexfit, between $19 (5 clients) and $95 (50) on Everfit, and up to $135 for 50 clients on Trainerize. At this size, the billing model matters more than the entry price.
Add-ons and fees that change the bill
Taking payments is not always included: $10 a month on Trainerize, from $9 on Everfit. Then add Stripe's processing fees on every charge. Nutrition ($20 to $45 on Trainerize, from $39 for meal plans on Everfit) and automation (Autoflow from $29 on Everfit) sit on top too.
- Priced at your client count six months from now
- Built-in payments work in your country
- Every add-on you need is in the total
- The client app is in your clients' language
- You know how to export programs and client data if you leave
Other options worth knowing
Three things come up in searches without making the ranking: a suite with no public pricing, and two neighboring needs that call for different software.
Other options
Virtuagym: one suite for a personal training studio
Quote onlyVirtuagym sells a personal training studio package: programs, nutrition, bookings, memberships, recurring payments, invoices and a white-label app. It publishes no prices; everything goes through a demo and a quote. That keeps it out of the ranking, since we do not compare tools without a readable price. It can suit a multi-coach studio that also manages in-person bookings.
Running a gym? Use gym management software
Different needDoor access, point of sale and class schedules are not what online coaching tools are built for. If you run a facility with members, our ranking of gym management software compares tools made for that. For a club or league, see sports club management software.
Chasing leads? Add a CRM
Add-on needCoaching software tracks clients once they sign. It handles leads, follow-ups and discovery calls poorly. If prospecting eats your week, a light CRM bridges the gap. Our pick of the best CRMs for coaches compares simple, affordable options.
Choose and run your coaching software without surprises
Settings and traps pulled from official price grids and coach reviews that change your bill or your clients' experience.
Tips
Price your target tier, add-ons included
PriceThe entry price covers 3 to 5 clients. Take your six-month goal, say 30 clients, and add the tier, payments and nutrition if you need them. Compare that total, not the first number on the grid.
- Example
- TrueCoach: $57.99 at 20 clients, $136.99 at 21
Check that payments work where you live
PaymentsA tool can advertise built-in payments without opening them in your country. TrueCoach limits them to coaches in the US, UK, Australia and Canada. Ask for the country list before your trial if you coach from anywhere else.
Start free, then switch
Getting startedTwo tools here have a free plan with no time limit: Everfit for up to 5 clients and Trainerize for one. Build your exercise library and first programs there. You will know what you actually need before paying.
Run the trial with two or three real clients
ChoosingAlmost every tool here offers 14 to 30 days without a card. A demo you click through alone tells you nothing about the client app. Invite two or three trusted clients, one who is comfortable with tech and one who is not, and ask what slowed them down.
Know which branded app you are buying
Branding"Branded app" covers three things: your colors inside the vendor's app, your logo, or your own app listed in the stores. Prices range from included (Everfit Pro, TrueCoach Standard) to $169 or $95 once (Trainerize, My PT Hub) to $99 a month (Hexfit Studio). Pay for a store app only if it helps you charge more.
Ask about data export before you sign
FreedomSome coaches complain that they cannot export workouts, or that canceling was a fight. Before committing, ask in writing how you get your programs and client history out. A vague answer is a warning sign.
Treat weight and photos as health data
DataWeight, body measurements, progress photos and injuries are sensitive data. Ask where the vendor stores them and who can access them, and get your clients' clear consent before asking for photos.

Your questions about online coaching software
What is the best free app for online personal trainers?
Everfit. Its Starter plan is free for up to 5 clients with no time limit. Trainerize is free for one client. Built-in payments and branded apps stay paid on both.
How much does personal training software cost?
From $0 to around $140 a month for a solo coach. At 5 clients, expect $0 (Everfit) to $52 (My PT Hub Premium, since Starter stops at 3). At 30 clients, $52 (My PT Hub Premium) to $136.99 (TrueCoach Pro). Payment processing fees come on top.
Trainerize or TrueCoach: which is better?
TrueCoach if you mostly write programs and coach from the US, UK, Canada or Australia, where its payments work with no add-on fee. Trainerize if you want a free plan, a one-time branded app and more add-ons, accepting a price that climbs with each module.
Can I get a fitness coaching app with my own brand?
Yes, at three levels. Your colors and logo in the vendor's app are often included (Everfit Pro, TrueCoach Standard). A branded app costs $169 once on Trainerize or $95 once on My PT Hub. A store-listed app is $99 a month on Hexfit Studio, or on quote at Harbiz, where you also need your own developer accounts.
Can these tools handle online coaching only, without in-person sessions?
Yes, that is what they are built for: programs in an app, logged workouts, messaging and recurring billing. If you also run a facility with door access and class bookings, gym management software is the better fit.
How do I switch coaching software without losing clients?
Open the new tool on a trial, rebuild your template programs, then move clients over in small groups, starting with the most tech-comfortable. Keep the old subscription for one more month. Export everything you can before leaving, since some tools do not export workouts.
Is client data safe in personal training software?
It depends on the vendor, so ask. Weight, measurements and progress photos are sensitive. Check where data is hosted, who can access it, and how you can delete or export it, and get client consent before collecting photos.
