What is the best QHSE software in 2026?

Ask this before any demo: which letters of QHSE does the tool really cover?

Your quality system lives in one spreadsheet, incidents in another, and environmental aspects in a binder nobody has opened since the last audit. Corrective actions get closed in email threads. That is usually the moment a QHSE manager starts shopping for software.

The short answer: no tool with public pricing covers all three pillars equally well. SafetyCulture (now sold under the Mitti brand) is the best starting point if your pain is in the field: inspections, safety walks, hazard reports, free for up to 10 seats. Isolocity is the strongest for closing the corrective-action loop with the whole workforce. isoTracker is the cheapest way to run an ISO 9001 document system. Odoo Quality is the pick if you already run Odoo. The fully integrated EHS suites (Intelex, VelocityEHS, Ideagen) sell on quote, and we tell you below what to ask them.

We compared official pricing pages, vendor feature pages and published user reviews, without opening trial accounts. Scores are the same ones used in our other rankings, so each tool keeps one value across the site. Rank follows QHSE coverage; the score rates the tool within its own field.

5 quality and QHSE tools compared on what matters

Rank follows this page's angle: a small or mid-sized company that wants quality, health and safety, and environment in one place, starting from spreadsheets. Scores come from our related rankings (CMMS, manufacturing quality) and stay the same across pages, which is why 1factory, the top scorer on shop-floor quality, ranks last here.

Our method

How we compared and ranked

QHSE software has three jobs: find the current version of a procedure, get a hazard or nonconformance from the floor into the system in two minutes, and prove a corrective action was closed and checked. We ranked tools on how well they run that loop, then on how much of the three standards they actually cover.

We read every vendor's pricing page, product pages and help center, then published user reviews on software marketplaces. We did not open trial accounts. Only tools with public pricing are ranked: a quote-only suite cannot be compared fairly on cost, so it gets a description below, without a score.

Scores out of 5 are taken unchanged from our published rankings. Rank follows this page's QHSE angle: a tool that scores high on shop-floor quality can drop here if it covers neither safety nor environment.

1
Best QHSE software for field inspections and safety walks

SafetyCulture

3.8/5

SafetyCulture is an inspection app first. A supervisor opens a checklist on their phone, ticks it, snaps a photo, flags a hazard and assigns it with a due date. The same flow works for a safety walk, a waste segregation check, a 5S audit or goods-in inspection. That is why it leads a QHSE ranking: it covers safety and environment in the field, where most quality tools never go.

The pricing page now carries the Mitti brand. The free plan includes 10 seats, 5 active templates, 300 AI credits per seat per month and 30 days of dashboard data. Premium removes those limits for $24 per seat per month billed annually. For 10 people that is $2,880 a year. A per-site plan with unlimited users exists on quote: ask once you pass 15 or 20 seats.

Its limit for an ISO system is clear. The vendor describes actions on issues, not a formal CAPA with root-cause analysis and effectiveness checks, and document control is light. Reviewers love how fast crews adopt it, and complain about per-seat cost as the team grows.

Standout features
  • Mobile checklists with photos and signatures
  • Issues assigned during the inspection
  • Large library of safety and environment templates
+Pros
  • ✓Fastest to roll out in the field
  • ✓Free for a team of 10
  • ✓Covers safety walks and environmental checks
−Cons
  • ✗No formal CAPA with root-cause analysis
  • ✗Light document control
  • ✗Per-seat cost climbs as you grow
Verdict

The best place to start if your problem is in the field. Pair it with a document system, or move to an integrated suite when ISO 9001 becomes the priority.

2
Best for closing corrective actions with the whole workforce

Isolocity

3.9/5

Isolocity is a full quality system: document control, nonconformances, CAPA, audits, training, and inspections tied to production SPC. Its strength is how it splits licenses. The Full User, for the quality manager, opens all 17 modules for $220 a month billed annually. The Mid User, for a supervisor, opens 8 modules for $39. The Basic User is free and unlimited: read documents, sign, raise a CAPA.

For a QHSE team, that last tier is the point. A hazard or defect spotted by an operator enters the CAPA loop directly, with no paper form retyped later. Two managers and five supervisors cost $7,620 a year, and the rest of the site joins for free.

On health and safety, the vendor has a dedicated page, but the pricing grid does not say which plan includes that module. Get it in writing before the demo.

Standout features
  • Free Basic seats can raise a CAPA
  • 17 modules on the Full User
  • $39 Mid User for supervisors
+Pros
  • ✓The whole workforce joins the CAPA loop
  • ✓Documents, audits and training in one place
  • ✓Free trial on every plan
−Cons
  • ✗Most expensive full seat in this ranking
  • ✗Health and safety module inclusion to confirm
  • ✗Trial length not published
Verdict

The most solid for ISO 9001 with a real corrective-action loop. Confirm the safety coverage before you sign.

3
Best price to run an ISO 9001 system

isoTracker

3.9/5

isoTracker, a UK vendor, sells its QMS one module at a time: documents, complaints, audits, nonconformances, risk, training and corrective actions. You can start with one module and add the rest as the audit gets closer. It is the only tool here whose price really follows your progress.

Prices are public. One module costs $13.40 per user per month. For 20 users, that is $268.12 a month with one module, or $3,217 a year, and $1,106.86 a month with five or more. The 60-day trial covers the full product with no card, and your data stays if you subscribe: enough time to load your document library before paying.

Its QHSE limit is plain: the vendor lists no health and safety or environment module. The risk module can hold an environmental aspects register, but you configure it yourself. Users find document control simple and the interface dated.

Standout features
  • Buy one module at a time
  • 60-day trial, data kept
  • Corrective actions built in
+Pros
  • ✓Cheapest for a single module
  • ✓Covers the whole ISO 9001 system
  • ✓Long trial to prepare an audit
−Cons
  • ✗No native health and safety or environment
  • ✗Interface feels dated
  • ✗Access rights inherited from parent folder
Verdict

The budget pick for the Q in QHSE. For safety and environment, plan a field tool next to it.

Best if your company already runs Odoo

Odoo Quality

4.1/5

Odoo Quality adds control points, quality checks and quality alerts to Odoo's inventory and manufacturing apps. A failed check on a receipt or a work order raises an alert that someone has to process. If your stock and production already live in Odoo, nothing else on this page plugs in as tightly.

Pricing is unusual. Quality alone is free under One App Free, with unlimited users. As soon as you add a second app, you move to Standard at $31.10 per user per month in year one, then the $38.90 list price. A Custom plan sits above it at $61 ($76.20 list).

The limit: it is a quality app, not an EHS suite. The vendor presents no incident register or environmental aspects register, and internal audits and training records are thin next to a dedicated QMS.

Standout features
  • Quality checks on receipts and work orders
  • Free as a single app
  • Same database as stock and production
+Pros
  • ✓Tightest link to inventory and manufacturing
  • ✓Free to start with unlimited users
  • ✓Open ecosystem of partners
−Cons
  • ✗No native health and safety or environment
  • ✗Costs jump once you add a second app
  • ✗Audits and training records are thin
Verdict

The obvious choice if you already run Odoo. For safety and environment, you still need a second tool.

Best for production quality

1factory

4.4/5

1factory is the top scorer in our quality rankings, yet it ranks last here. The reason is simple: it is production quality software. It handles nonconformance reports, CAPA and shop-floor inspection very well, and does not claim to cover safety or environment.

The QMS plan (document control, training, audit readiness) costs $20 per user per month with a 10-user minimum, so $2,400 a year. Quality Control, which covers inspection, nonconformances and supplier quality, costs $75 with a 5-user minimum. Contracts are annual and there is no self-serve trial.

If your site is ISO 9001 certified and the other two standards are still a project, it is an excellent choice. If you aim for triple certification, you will pay for a second tool for safety and environment.

Standout features
  • Strong NCR and CAPA workflows
  • Public per-user pricing
  • Highly rated support
+Pros
  • ✓Most complete for product quality
  • ✓Readable QMS pricing
  • ✓Easy to export evidence for auditors
−Cons
  • ✗No safety or environment
  • ✗One-year contract, no free trial
  • ✗21 CFR Part 11 signatures on quote
Verdict

The best quality tool for a plant. For integrated QHSE, it covers one letter out of three.

What QHSE covers

Three questions QHSE roundups never ask

Most roundups list names and features. They rarely say which letter of QHSE each tool covers or what a field seat costs. Check who wrote them, too: several top results for "QHSE software" are published by a vendor that ranks itself, without saying so up front.

Which letter does the tool really cover?

Q is quality (ISO 9001): documents, nonconformances, CAPA, internal audits, management review. H&S is health and safety (ISO 45001): incidents and near misses, risk assessments, safety walks, action plans. E is environment (ISO 14001): aspects and impacts, waste, consumption, legal register.

In our ranking, isoTracker, Odoo Quality and 1factory cover quality. SafetyCulture covers safety and environment in the field, without a full document loop. Isolocity goes furthest on quality and advertises a health and safety side. Only the quote-only EHS suites sell all three letters in one product.

What does a field seat really cost?

The entry price says little about your bill. For 10 people for a year: $0 on SafetyCulture Free, $2,880 on Premium, $2,400 on 1factory QMS. For 20 users with one module, isoTracker costs $3,217 a year. Odoo Quality is free on its own and jumps once you add a second app.

The trap is field staff. A supervisor who reports two hazards a month should not cost the price of a quality manager. Isolocity solves it with free Basic seats. With quote-only vendors, always ask for a reporter or read-only seat price.

The integrated EHS suites, on quote: Intelex, VelocityEHS, Ideagen

These are the products that sell quality, health and safety, and environment in one platform, mostly to large companies. Intelex covers incidents, CAPA and audits for enterprise accounts. VelocityEHS and Ideagen target the same buyers, as do Cority and ComplianceQuest, which also show up in top search results. None publishes a price, which is why they are not ranked.

On the call, ask for: the price of a field reporter seat, implementation and data migration fees, contract length, data hosting region, and the cost of adding a module mid-contract.

  • List the standards you need in the next 24 months: 9001 only, or 9001, 14001 and 45001.
  • Split users into two groups: those who manage, those who report.
  • Ask for a reporter or read-only seat price, not just a full seat.
  • Check the mobile app works offline, with photos and signatures.
  • Have the vendor show one corrective action end to end in the demo.
  • Ask where data is hosted and whether a full spreadsheet export exists.
Leaving spreadsheets

Moving from spreadsheets to QHSE software without losing your history

Plenty of QHSE teams still run everything in spreadsheets. It works until follow-ups, multi-site rollups and audit evidence start to break. These six steps avoid the most common failures.

01

Start from the standard, not the feature list

Scope

If only ISO 9001 matters, a quality tool is enough (isoTracker, Isolocity, 1factory, Odoo Quality). If 14001 and 45001 are coming within two years, look for one tool that covers all three now, or accept running two. Switching tools mid-certification costs more than a poor first pick.

Standards
ISO 9001, 14001, 45001
02

Inventory your spreadsheets

Scope

List every file: nonconformance log, action plan, risk assessment, waste register, audit schedule, training matrix. Note who fills each one in and how often. That list becomes your requirements, and it shows fast which modules you actually need to buy.

Capture
File, owner, frequency
03

Use long trials and free tiers

Tip

isoTracker gives 60 days and keeps your data if you subscribe: enough to load your whole document library. SafetyCulture is free for 10 seats and 5 templates, so run your safety walks there before paying anything. Odoo Quality is free as long as it is your only Odoo app.

Longest trial
60 days on isoTracker
04

Start with what the field fills in

Rollout

QHSE software nobody fills in is worthless. Start with one form the floor actually needs, such as a near-miss report or the weekly safety walk. Once reports come in without chasing, add the corrective-action loop, then the document library.

First form
Near miss or safety walk
05

Keep old spreadsheets read-only

Audit

Do not retype three years of nonconformances. Import open actions only, and archive the rest as dated PDFs in the tool's document library. Auditors want to see the system running and the history available, not everything in one tool.

Import
Open actions only
06

Build your management review from the tool

Reporting

Before you sign, check the software produces your management review indicators: issues by type, average time to close, share of effective actions, incidents. Many EHS software users say they still export everything to spreadsheets for charts. Ask to see that dashboard in the demo.

FAQ · 7 questions

QHSE software · FAQ

  • Can I get ISO 9001 certified with spreadsheets?
Yes, the standard does not require software. An auditor accepts spreadsheets if versions, owners and evidence of closure are kept. The problem is volume: past a few dozen open actions or a second site, chasing and consolidating takes more time than the tool would cost.
  • What is the difference between QHSE, EHS and HSE?
They are the same building blocks grouped differently. EHS and HSE cover environment, health and safety. QHSE adds quality. For software, the real question stays the same: which of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 do you need to maintain?
  • How much does QHSE software cost for a small business?
From $0 to a few thousand dollars a year for 10 people. SafetyCulture is free up to 10 seats. 1factory QMS costs $2,400 a year at its 10-user minimum. isoTracker starts at $13.40 per user per module. Integrated EHS suites sell on quote, usually with implementation fees on top.
  • Is there free QHSE software?
Not for all three pillars, but two free options hold up. SafetyCulture Free covers 10 seats and 5 active templates. Odoo Quality is free if it is the only app on your account. Isolocity makes Basic seats free for operators, but you need at least one paid seat.
  • Which QHSE tools support 21 CFR Part 11?
Isolocity lists 21 CFR Part 11 among the standards it supports. 1factory offers Part 11 compliant signatures as an option on quote. If you are FDA regulated, ask for a validation package before signing, not just a feature list.
  • How long does it take to roll out QHSE software?
Days for an inspection app, months for an integrated suite. On SafetyCulture, a first checklist runs the same week. A full document system with history migration takes closer to a quarter. Avoid doing it in the two months before an audit.
  • Do I need a separate tool for OSHA recordkeeping?
None of the five ranked tools advertises a ready-made OSHA injury log on its pricing page. You can build an incident form in SafetyCulture, but if recordkeeping is your main need, put that question first to the quote-only EHS suites.
