What is the best quality management software for manufacturing in 2026?
Pick your QMS on how it handles NCRs and CAPA, not on the module list.
Your NCRs live in a binder, CAPAs in a spreadsheet, and every ISO 9001 audit eats a week of digging. Quality management software (QMS) puts nonconformances, corrective actions, procedures and audits in one place.
We compared the QMS tools that publish real prices. Short answer: 1factory if quality is decided on the shop floor (inspections, SPC), Odoo Quality if you run Odoo, isoTracker for a lean ISO 9001 system, SafetyCulture to digitize inspections for free.
The ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.

How we compared and scored
This page is for the quality manager at a small or mid-size manufacturer: machining, plastics, food, electronics. You handle nonconformances, corrective actions, procedures and audits, usually to keep an ISO 9001 certificate. It is not a guide for a group rolling out a QMS across twenty sites with a systems integrator.
We read each vendor's pricing and feature pages plan by plan, then user reviews, starting with the negative ones. A tool is ranked only when two conditions are met: nonconformance and corrective action handling is described on its official site, and its price is published there.
Weights follow what makes a QMS stick in a plant. Nonconformance and CAPA weigh 30%: that is why you buy one. Shop-floor quality control (inspections, SPC) weighs 25%. Real cost for 10 users weighs 20%. Documents and audits count for 15%, ease of adoption for 10%.
What is not ranked, and why. QT9, Scilife, MasterControl, ETQ and Ideagen publish no price. Tulip publishes a price but no nonconformance module. They get a card below, without a score.
- Nonconformance and CAPALogging, root cause, corrective actions, effectiveness checks, which plan includes them.30%
- Shop-floor quality controlInspections, first article, SPC, mobile entry on the floor.25%
- Real costAnnual cost for 10 users, free seats, minimums, trial.20%
- Documents and auditsDocument control, approvals, internal audits, training.15%
- Ease of adoptionEase described by users, support, time to go live.10%

QMS pricing changes often. Get the updates
1factory
1factory was built around manufacturing quality control, not just document control. The Quality Control plan covers first piece, in-process and final inspection, AS9102 first article inspection reports, CMM data import and process capability (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk). Nonconformance reports, material review board and CAPA are included, along with supplier corrective action requests (SCARs) and gage calibration with QR labels.
Pricing is public, which is rare in this category: $75 per QC user per month with a 5-user minimum, so $4,500 a year to start. If you only need the QMS side (NCRs, CAPA, documents), that plan runs $20 per user with a 10-user minimum: $2,400 a year. Reviewers keep coming back to two points: inspectors pick it up fast, and pulling data for an ISO auditor stops being a project.
- SPC with Cp, Cpk, Pp and Ppk
- AS9102 first article inspection
- Gage calibration with QR labels
- ✓Deepest shop-floor quality toolset here
- ✓Public per-user pricing
- ✓Support rated very highly by users
- ✗One-year commitment, no self-serve trial
- ✗21 CFR Part 11 signatures and API are paid add-ons
- ✗Minimums push the entry price up
The pick when quality is won or lost on the shop floor. If you mainly need to keep an ISO 9001 system tidy, isoTracker costs less.
Odoo Quality
Odoo Quality puts control points directly into manufacturing and inventory orders: pass or fail, measurements with tolerances, photos and worksheets. The operator cannot move to the next step until the check is recorded. Quality alerts track root cause and corrective and preventive actions on a kanban board, and you can create as many quality teams as you need.
If Quality is your only app, it is free with unlimited users. Most plants will add Manufacturing and Inventory, which moves you to Standard: $24.90 per user per month billed yearly for the first year (then $31.10), or $38.90 billed monthly. For 10 users that is about $2,990 in year one. The catch: internal audits, training records and supplier management are thin compared with a dedicated QMS, and advanced SPC is limited.
- Checks block the work order until recorded
- Quality alerts with root cause and CAPA
- One price for every Odoo app
- ✓Quality data lives next to lots and work orders
- ✓Free if Quality is your only app
- ✓Cheapest route if you need an ERP anyway
- ✗Audits and training are thin
- ✗First-year discount, then list price
- ✗Advanced SPC is limited
The smartest option if your plant runs on Odoo. Keep a dedicated QMS for audits and document control once your certification work grows.
isoTracker
isoTracker, a UK vendor, sells its QMS one module at a time: document control, complaints, audits, nonconformance, risk and training, with CAPA built in. You can start with nonconformance alone and add audits next year.
Prices are published: from $13.40 per user per month for one module. The vendor's own example for 20 users runs $268.12 a month with one module and $1,106.86 with five or more. The 60-day trial covers the full version with no credit card, and your data carries over. Reviewers like how simple document control is, find the interface dated, and flag that permissions inherit from the parent folder.
- Six modules sold separately
- 60-day full trial
- CAPA built into nonconformance
- ✓Cheapest way to buy a single module
- ✓Covers the whole ISO 9001 system
- ✓Long trial to prep for an audit
- ✗No inspection or SPC tools
- ✗Interface feels dated
- ✗Coarse permission settings
The right fit for running ISO 9001 without paying for shop-floor features. Start with nonconformance and use the 60 days before your next surveillance audit.
Isolocity
Isolocity blends QMS and production tracking: document management, CAPA, inspections tied to SPC, training and inventory. Its pricing has three tiers. Full Users (quality managers) pay $220 a month billed annually for all 17 modules. Mid Users (production) pay $39 for 8 modules. Basic Users are free and unlimited: they read documents, sign off and log CAPAs.
That split changes the math. Two quality managers and eight team leads come to $9,024 a year, and every operator gets in free. The site lists more than 50 standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 13485, BRCGS, IFS and 21 CFR Part 11, which makes it relevant for food and medical device plants.
- Free, unlimited operator accounts
- Inspections linked to SPC
- Food and medical standards covered
- ✓Whole shop floor can log CAPAs
- ✓QMS and production in one tool
- ✓Trial on every plan
- ✗Priciest full seat on this list
- ✗Trial length not stated
- ✗Costs climb fast past three admins
A strong fit when many people read and sign, and few people administer. With more than three quality managers, the $220 seat adds up fast.
SafetyCulture
SafetyCulture (its pricing page now carries the Mitti brand) is an inspection app. The inspector fills in a checklist on a phone, snaps a photo, flags the issue and assigns an action. It is the fastest way to replace paper at end-of-line inspection.
The free plan covers 10 seats and 5 active templates. Premium costs $24 per seat per month billed annually, so $2,880 a year for 10 people. Its limit as a QMS is clear: the official page describes actions on findings, not formal CAPA with root cause analysis, and document control is light. We keep the same score as in our CMMS ranking.
- Free up to 10 seats
- Photo, signature and action on every finding
- Up and running in minutes
- ✓Simplest tool for floor inspections
- ✓Free for a small team
- ✓Very approachable mobile app
- ✗No formal CAPA with root cause
- ✗Light document control
- ✗Priced per seat
The best free starting point for digital inspections. For the full quality system, pair it with isoTracker or move to 1factory.
What a QMS really costs for 10 users
The headline price means little until you know who needs a paid seat. Here is the annual cost for a 10-person team on the plan that handles nonconformances, from official price pages.
Under $3,000 a year
1factory QMS: $2,400 (10 users at $20). SafetyCulture Premium: $2,880 billed annually, or free if 5 templates are enough. Odoo with Manufacturing and Quality: about $2,990 in year one at the discounted rate.
$3,000 to $5,000 a year
isoTracker with one module: the vendor's 20-user example gives $268.12 a month, $3,217 a year. 1factory Quality Control for 5 inspectors with SPC and FAI: $4,500 a year.
Over $9,000 a year
Isolocity with 2 full and 8 production seats: $9,024, operators free on top. isoTracker with every module for 20 users: $13,282 a year.
- Does the nonconformance module include CAPA, or is that a second module?
- Do operators who log issues need a paid seat?
- Is the price a first-year discount or the list price?
- Are e-signatures and API included or add-ons?
- Can you export all your data if you switch?
QMS tools without public pricing worth a demo
These tools matter in the market but either publish no price we can compare or lack a listed nonconformance module. We do not score them. Here is when they still deserve a call.
Quote only
QT9 QMS: every module in one license
All-inclusiveQT9 sells annual concurrent licenses (simultaneous logins, not named users), in the cloud or on-premise, with every module included at no extra license cost. That matters when you want to add supplier or maintenance modules without reopening the contract. There is a free trial with no credit card, but no public price, so ask for a quote sized to your quality team's concurrent logins.
- Best for
- US small and mid-size manufacturers
- License
- Concurrent, annual
Tulip: frontline apps you build yourself
No-codeTulip is a no-code platform for shop-floor apps. Essentials costs $100 per interface per month and Professional $250, billed annually, with a 10-interface minimum. Its pricing page mentions quality workflows but lists no nonconformance or CAPA module, so you build them yourself or start from templates. We do not rank it for that reason, but it is a strong choice when your process does not fit any off-the-shelf QMS.
- Best for
- Plants with in-house engineers
- Price
- $100/interface/mo, 10 minimum
Scilife: life sciences and their suppliers
RegulatedScilife targets regulated industries. Essential covers documents and training, Core adds CAPA, change control and quality events (deviations, nonconformances, complaints), and Core+ adds audits, suppliers, risk and equipment. For a contract manufacturer serving pharma or medtech, the module logic is clear. Pricing is by quote.
- Best for
- Pharma, medtech, contract manufacturers
- CAPA
- From the Core plan
MasterControl, ETQ, Ideagen: the enterprise tier
Multi-siteMasterControl, ETQ Reliance (part of Hexagon) and Ideagen Quality run quality for multi-site groups and heavily regulated industries. They cover a very wide scope, but expect a rollout measured in months and a quote-only budget. For a plant under 200 people, they are often more system than you need.
- Best for
- Multi-site groups
- Rollout
- Several months
Roll out your QMS so people use it
A QMS rarely fails because of the software. It fails when the floor keeps filling in paper forms on the side. Here is the order that works.
The steps
Start with nonconformances
NCRs generate the most paper and the most chasing. Put them online first with a three-field form: what, where, photo. Audits and training come later, once the floor has the habit.
Check who needs a paid seat
An operator logging an issue does not need a full seat. Isolocity makes those accounts free and unlimited, 1factory splits QC and QMS users, SafetyCulture is free up to 10 seats. Run the numbers before you sign: that is where quotes double.
Time your trial before an audit
isoTracker's 60-day trial is long enough to load your procedures and open NCRs before a surveillance audit. Your data stays if you subscribe, so starting early costs nothing.
Close every CAPA with evidence
Auditors do not count how many actions you opened, they check that they are closed and verified. Add an effectiveness check 30 to 90 days after closure, with a named owner.
Connect the QMS to your ERP
A lot or work order number typed twice ends up wrong. If your QMS has an API (an add-on at 1factory), push lot and part data into each NCR automatically with an automation platform.
Track three KPIs, not thirty
NCR rate per line, average CAPA closure time, customer complaints per month. Those three numbers cover the ISO 9001 management review, and every tool on this list can report them.

These pages pick up where this one stops: maintenance, documents and ERP.
Your questions about quality management software
Can you pass ISO 9001 with spreadsheets?
Yes. ISO 9001 does not require any software, and some small shops certify with shared drives and spreadsheets. The pain shows up at audit time: proving who approved which revision, and tracing a nonconformance to a closed action. Once you log more than a handful of NCRs a month, a QMS pays for itself in audit prep alone.
What is the difference between an NCR and a CAPA?
An NCR (nonconformance report) records the problem: a part out of tolerance, a rejected lot. A CAPA (corrective and preventive action) is what you do so it does not happen again: root cause, fix, effectiveness check. Good QMS software links the two so no serious NCR stays without a closed action.
Do I need a QMS if my ERP has a quality module?
For in-process checks, often not. Odoo Quality, for example, blocks the work order until the check is recorded. Internal audits, document control and training are usually weaker in an ERP. Many plants run both: the ERP for checks, the QMS for the system.
What QMS works for AS9100 or IATF 16949?
Look for first article inspection, SPC and supplier corrective actions. 1factory covers AS9102 FAI reports, SPC and SCARs. Multi-site automotive groups usually shortlist quoted platforms like ETQ Reliance or Ideagen Quality.
How much does quality management software cost?
For 10 users, roughly $2,400 to $9,000 a year among vendors that publish prices. 1factory QMS comes to $2,400, SafetyCulture Premium to $2,880, Isolocity to $9,024 for 2 full and 8 production seats. Enterprise platforms like MasterControl and ETQ are quote-only, plus an implementation project.
Do I need 21 CFR Part 11 compliance?
Only if you make or supply FDA-regulated products: drugs, medical devices, some food. Part 11 sets the rules for electronic records and signatures. At 1factory it is a paid add-on; at Tulip it sits in the Enterprise and Regulated Industries plans.
How long does a QMS rollout take?
A few weeks for a simple tool, several months for an enterprise platform. Configuration is rarely the slow part; migrating existing procedures and open NCRs is. Start with nonconformance only, then add audits and training once the floor uses it.
