How much does Brevo cost?

The French email platform's pricing, plan by plan, with the parts the price page doesn't spell out.

Short answer: Brevo has a free plan (300 emails a day, 100,000 stored contacts). The first paid plan, Starter, costs $9 a month for 5,000 emails, or $97 a year paid upfront. Standard, the plan that unlocks unlimited automation, starts at $18. Watch the 2025 change: on the small paid tiers, your contact count matters as much as your sends. With 3,000 contacts you pay for the 20,000-email tier even if you only send 6,000.

What each Brevo plan costs

Brevo sells monthly email tiers. Since 2025, each tier also sets how many contacts you can keep on Starter and Standard: 500 at 5,000 emails, 1,500 at 10,000, 2,500 at 15,000, then 500,000 from 20,000 emails. The prices below are first-tier prices in US dollars, before any sales tax or VAT added at checkout. When you compare Brevo with a rival, always check two numbers: sends and contacts.

Prices read in 2026 from Brevo's official price list, before tax, and identical to the ones in our full review. Yearly billing saves 10% on Starter, Standard and Pro, but is paid upfront and can't be paused. Brevo's help center sometimes shows other amounts: we follow the price list, which is what gets billed.

What the price page hides

Three things that push the bill up

Brevo's entry price is low, and stays low for many setups. Three mechanisms change the total, though. Knowing them before you subscribe saves you a nasty second invoice.

Your contacts pick the tier, not your sends

On Starter and Standard, the first three tiers cap contacts at 500, 1,500 and 2,500. Every stored address counts, even one you never email. Go over and Brevo warns you, then moves you up a tier automatically at that tier's price. Paid accounts keep their billing date and pay the prorated difference. So a 2,000-contact list sending one newsletter a month pays for the 15,000-email tier: $25 on Starter, for 2,000 sends.

Logo and seats on Starter

Starter keeps the "Sent with Brevo" footer unless you add $12 a month, and allows one user. Add logo removal and a $17 Starter becomes $29, just $6 under Standard at the same tier ($35), which includes no logo, unlimited automation and A/B tests. The math often favors Standard.

The jump to Pro

WhatsApp, pop-ups, more than three seats and phone support all require Pro, from $499 for 150,000 emails. At that same volume, Standard costs $179. If you need just one of those features, the gap is $320 a month. It's the pricing complaint users raise most often.

  • Count your contacts before your sends: they often decide your tier.
  • Clean your list before you hit 500, 1,500 or 2,500 contacts.
  • Price Starter plus logo removal against Standard at the same tier.
  • List the Pro-only features you truly need.
  • Add your local sales tax or VAT: listed prices exclude it.
Our method

How we work out the real cost

We start from Brevo's official price list in US dollars, the same one behind our full review. For each setup, we find the tier forced by the contact count, then the tier forced by send volume (contacts × campaigns a month), and keep the higher one. Then we add the add-ons that setup needs. We didn't buy a subscription: we compared the price lists and the official documentation.

Is Brevo expensive?

Brevo's price next to two rivals

To compare fairly, we used the same 1,000-contact list. Brevo bills sends first, while ActiveCampaign and Mailchimp bill contacts. Past a few thousand lightly mailed contacts, the gap widens in Brevo's favor. For a feature-by-feature view, read our ActiveCampaign vs Brevo comparison.

Pay less

Seven ways to pay less for Brevo

Concrete settings, drawn from Brevo's official documentation and the questions that keep coming up on its community forum.

01

Delete inactive contacts before each threshold

Biggest saving

Every stored address counts toward the tier limit, even one you never mail. Going from 1,600 to 1,400 contacts keeps you on the 10,000 tier ($17) instead of 15,000 ($25). Export contacts inactive for six months, keep the file, and delete them from Brevo.

Thresholds

Typical saving
$8 a month
02

Stay free if your sends can wait

The free plan keeps 100,000 contacts and 300 emails a day. A newsletter to 1,200 people goes out over four days. If your message isn't time-sensitive (content, news), you pay nothing. A dated promotion is another story: that's when paying makes sense.

03

Price Starter with logo removal against Standard

At the 20,000-email tier, Starter is $32, or $44 without the logo. Standard is $69, but adds uncapped automation and A/B tests. If your welcome series has more than 2,000 subscribers, Starter will stop new entrants: Standard is then the right call.

05

For an isolated campaign (an event, a launch), prepaid email credits spare you a subscription. They never expire and work for both marketing and transactional email. Check their price in your account against a month of Starter before buying.

Don't move to Pro for a single feature

Pro costs $320 more than Standard at 150,000 emails. For a fourth user, share seats by role instead. For pop-ups, a dedicated tool connected to Brevo usually costs far less. Keep Pro for WhatsApp or a real ten-person team.

The verdict

So, is Brevo expensive?

Our take after comparing price lists: Brevo is still one of the cheapest email platforms to start with, as long as you pick your tier from your list size. Our full Brevo review scores it 4.5 out of 5 for value for money.

Good value if…

You have a mid-size or large list you email a few times a month, or a small list the free plan can serve. At 25,000 contacts and one send a week, Standard at $139 stays low next to tools that bill per contact.

Less appealing if…

You need WhatsApp, pop-ups or more than three users: Pro at $499 changes everything. Same if your list hovers around 500 or 1,500 contacts and grows fast: automatic tier upgrades make the budget harder to predict.

If Brevo doesn't fit

See our Brevo alternatives or our ranking of email marketing software. For deeper CRM automation, ActiveCampaign's pricing is broken down the same way.

  • Free: up to 300 emails a day and 100,000 contacts.
  • Starter: $9, but 500 contacts on the first tier.
  • Standard: $18, the real entry point for automation.
  • Pro: $499, only for WhatsApp or a team.
  • Prices exclude tax: add your local rate.
Pricing FAQ

Brevo pricing FAQ

  • How much does Brevo cost per month?
Brevo costs $0 on the free plan, $9 a month on Starter and $18 on Standard, for 5,000 emails a month. Price rises with the tier: $32 on Starter and $69 on Standard for 20,000 emails. Pro starts at $499 for 150,000 emails, and Enterprise is quoted. The key point: your contact count also sets the tier, with 500 contacts on the first paid tier.
  • Do Brevo prices include tax?
No. Listed prices exclude tax, and checkout adds the sales tax or VAT that applies where your business is based. A business that reclaims VAT can reason before tax, while a nonprofit or individual should budget the full amount. Your exact total shows in the configurator before you confirm.
  • Is Brevo really free?
Yes, with no time limit and no credit card. The free plan allows 300 emails a day, with no rollover, and stores up to 100,000 contacts. In exchange, the Brevo logo stays on every email, you get one user, and automations stop at 2,000 unique contacts. A campaign to 1,200 contacts takes four days, requeued each day.
  • Why is Brevo charging me for a bigger tier than my sends?
Because since 2025 each Starter and Standard tier also caps contacts: 500 at 5,000 emails, 1,500 at 10,000, 2,500 at 15,000. Every stored address counts, even one that gets nothing. Go over and Brevo warns you, then upgrades you to the next tier on its own, billing the prorated difference. Deleting inactive contacts is the easiest way back down.
  • Is Brevo cheaper than Mailchimp?
In most cases, yes, once your list passes a few hundred contacts. Mailchimp Standard starts at $20 a month for 500 contacts and climbs with every bracket, while Brevo covers 1,500 contacts for $17 on Starter. The gap narrows for a very small list mailed often. If you're moving off Mailchimp, our switching guide covers the migration.
  • How much does it cost to remove the Brevo logo?
On Starter, $12 a month, or $129.60 a year. On the free plan, it can't be removed. From Standard up, the logo is gone at no extra cost. Run the numbers at the 10,000-email tier: Starter plus logo removal comes to $29, Standard to $35 with uncapped automation and A/B tests on top. Standard often wins.
  • How much is a dedicated IP on Brevo?
$251 a year, as an add-on on Pro. It's included in Enterprise and not offered on lower plans. It only pays off with steady high volume: without frequent sends, a fresh dedicated IP struggles to build a reputation. Below 100,000 emails a month, Brevo's shared IPs are enough in most cases.
  • Can I pause or cancel Brevo easily?
Yes on monthly billing: there's no commitment, you cancel from your account, and you can even pause for one to three months. Yearly plans, paid upfront, can't be paused. When you cancel, the account drops to the free plan at the end of the paid period. Export your list and stats first if it's above the free plan's 100,000 contacts.
  • Does Brevo offer a nonprofit discount?
No nonprofit discount is listed on Brevo's online plans. On its community forum, the Brevo team tells nonprofits to contact support for current offers. Ask before committing to a yearly plan. Meanwhile, the free plan covers many nonprofits: 100,000 contacts and 300 emails a day.
