Bloomreach alternatives: where to go, product by product

Nine destinations, sorted by the Bloomreach product you're replacing, plus an eight-step exit plan.

The short answer depends on the product. For Engagement (email, SMS, segments): Klaviyo if you sell on Shopify, Braze if your main channel is a mobile app, Salesforce Marketing Cloud if your company already runs on Salesforce, Insider One if you want to keep personalization, Brevo or Actito if you want a European vendor. For Discovery (site search): Algolia or Doofinder. For Content (the CMS): Storyblok. One thing to know before you pick: Bloomreach exports your customers and events as CSV or JSON, but not your scenarios. Those get rebuilt by hand. We compared these nine destinations in 2026.

The ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.

The real reasons

Why so many teams are looking elsewhere

Bloomreach is a serious platform. Its real-time customer data and scenarios are powerful, and some former users argue that stitching several tools together often costs more. Teams don't leave because it's broken. They leave because the bill no longer matches what they use, and because the tool needs a dedicated team to run. Six reasons keep coming up.

A $60K-a-year entry ticket

Bloomreach doesn't publish a rate card. Its pricing page gives one marker: starting at $60K a year for smaller brands, which usually have 500,000+ monthly visitors. From there, price depends on your audience, catalog, products enabled, and volumes (messages sent, searches served). Bloomreach itself says it isn't built for low volumes or for anyone after a lightweight email tool.

Paying for a suite, using one product

Bloomreach is sold as three products, and many mid-market teams only use one or two. If you only send email, you're paying for a contract designed around a full platform. That's usually where the math flips: a specialist tool for your one product costs a fraction of it.

A steep learning curve

User reviews line up: scenarios, reports, and on-site web layers take real time to master. Some personalizations still need HTML, which makes it a poor fit for a marketing team without a developer. Error messages and logs are seen as too thin to debug on your own.

Usage billing with no cap

Overages are billed separately. On search, one complaint stands out: nothing stops bots from calling the API, and every call counts toward your usage. If your site draws a lot of automated traffic, your Discovery bill can climb without a single extra customer.

Profiles that only merge on email

Retail users report that only an email address lets you merge two profiles, while phone numbers and soft IDs are hard to manage. Past three countries, multi-country setups get murky. For a brand selling both in stores and online, that's a real blocker.

Reports that need workarounds

Several users say some reports only work with workarounds, and that changes can take a few hours to go live. For a lean team, every new scenario turns into a small project instead of an afternoon task.

The 9 alternatives

Bloomreach alternatives, product by product

The profiles are grouped by product: Engagement first (six tools), then Discovery (two), then Content (one). For each tool: why move to it, who it's for, its limit, how to migrate from Bloomreach, and what it costs. Prices are what each vendor shows in 2026. When a vendor publishes no price, the profile says so. Scores come from our ecommerce CDP comparison.

01

Klaviyo: the Engagement replacement for Shopify brands

Engagement · ecommerce

Why move to Klaviyo. It's the most natural landing spot for an ecommerce brand that only used Bloomreach's email and segmentation. Klaviyo reads your orders, viewed products, and carts, and fires email and SMS off them, with no heavy integration project. Most of all, you go from a five-figure annual contract to a price that tracks your list.

Who it's for. SMB and mid-market Shopify brands that want ready-made flows (abandoned cart, post-purchase). If Klaviyo is what you're leaving, see our guide to switching from Klaviyo.

Who it's not for. Brands that relied on Bloomreach's search or CMS. Klaviyo only replaces Engagement.

Its limit. The free plan stops at 250 active profiles and 500 emails a month, with $5 of SMS. Past that, sending is blocked until the next cycle, or you upgrade. Paid prices only appear in the calculator. On the official Shopify listing, email starts at $20/month for 251 to 500 contacts, and the bill climbs fast with your list.

How to migrate. Export your customers from Bloomreach as CSV with their consent status, then import them as a list. Past events (orders, views) usually come back better through your store sync than by file. Then rebuild your scenarios one by one as Klaviyo flows, starting with the ones that make money.

02

Braze: when your main channel is an app

Engagement · mobile

Why move to Braze. Braze is built for brands whose customers live in an app: push notifications, in-app messages, email, and SMS orchestrated in real time at high volume. Where Bloomreach starts from the ecommerce site, Braze starts from the app.

Who it's for. Consumer apps, delivery, travel, media, and brands with a large mobile base and a product team.

Who it's not for. An ecommerce SMB trying to escape big contracts. Braze has no free plan and publishes no amounts.

Its limit. Four editions (Go, Select, Pro, Enterprise), priced on monthly active users (MAU). The contract adds up the edition, MAU or profiles, Action Credits, and services. It's a budget as complex as Bloomreach's.

How to migrate. Export your profiles and events, then import them in Braze's model (attributes on one side, events on the other). Ship the SDK in your app before cutover so new events land from day one.

Salesforce Marketing Cloud: if your company already runs on Salesforce

Engagement · enterprise

Why move to Salesforce Marketing Cloud. If your sales, service, and data already sit in Salesforce, putting marketing there removes one more sync. And the entry price is public, which Bloomreach's isn't.

Who it's for. Enterprises already on Salesforce. Our guide to switching from Salesforce covers the opposite case.

Who it's not for. Teams leaving Bloomreach because of complexity. Marketing Cloud needs specialists too.

Its limit. Marketing Cloud Next Growth costs $1,500 per org per month, Advanced $3,250, Engagement+ $2,000, and Account Engagement+ $1,250, all billed annually. Add integration costs and related licenses.

How to migrate. Plan the import of customers and events, then rebuild your journeys. Budget for an implementation partner: this is a project, not a weekend cutover.

Insider One: keep personalization without Bloomreach

Engagement · personalization

Why move to Insider One. It's the closest alternative to Bloomreach in spirit: built-in customer data, messaging across email, SMS, WhatsApp, web, and app, plus on-site search. If you used Engagement and some Discovery, you get both from one vendor.

Who it's for. Mid-size to large brands that want to switch vendors without giving up multichannel personalization. The Shopify app is free to install.

Who it's not for. Anyone leaving Bloomreach to pay a lot less. Insider One is still an enterprise platform, with no published price.

Its limit. You sign the same kind of negotiated, opaque contract. Ask for the included volumes in writing, or the overage problem comes back.

How to migrate. Your CSV or JSON exports of customers and events are the starting point. Ask Insider One which event format it expects, and map your event names before the import, not after.

05

Brevo: the tight-budget option from a European vendor

Engagement · budget

Why move to Brevo. It's the biggest price gap on this page. Brevo mostly charges for emails sent, with a free plan at 300 emails a day, Starter at $9/month, Standard at $18, and Pro at $499 (150,000 emails). You keep email, SMS, WhatsApp, and automation.

Who it's for. SMBs that signed with Bloomreach out of ambition and found they only use newsletters and a few simple scenarios. Our full Brevo review breaks down each plan.

Who it's not for. Brands with millions of profiles that need real-time on-site personalization. Brevo has neither Bloomreach's segmentation depth nor its search.

Its limit. Scenarios are simpler, and customer data is thinner than a true CDP. Free and Starter show the Brevo logo in your emails unless you pay to remove it, and Starter caps contacts (500 on the $9 tier).

How to migrate. Import contacts by CSV after creating the attributes (fields) that will receive your columns. Import unsubscribes separately as a blocklist so they never get re-subscribed. Then rebuild your scenarios in the automation editor.

Actito: the European option for large databases

Engagement · Europe

Why move to Actito. Actito is a Belgian vendor with clear tiers. Standard covers up to 100,000 active profiles, with email, SMS, RCS, and WhatsApp and 10 licenses. Advanced goes to 500,000 profiles and adds ads, Wallet, and in-app messages, with unlimited seats.

Who it's for. Brands selling in Europe that want an EU vendor and contact volumes set in advance.

Who it's not for. Anyone who wants to see a price before talking to sales. The pricing page describes tiers but shows no amounts.

Its limit. Beyond 500,000 profiles you need a custom deal. On-site personalization is lighter than Bloomreach or Insider One.

How to migrate. Prepare a clean, deduplicated profile file with consent per channel. Have Actito validate your field mapping before import.

Algolia: replace Discovery and pay as you go

Discovery · search

Why move to Algolia. It's the best-known search engine, and the only tool here that starts without an annual contract. Grow is $0 base: 10K searches and 100K records included, then $0.50 per 1,000 searches and $0.40 per 1,000 records, month to month. Grow Plus moves to $1.75 per 1,000 searches and adds 10,000 rules, 90 days of analytics, and AI features (AI Ranking, personalization).

Who it's for. Ecommerce teams that want fast search and a budget that tracks traffic. Hosting is available in the US, UK, or EU West.

Who it's not for. Huge catalogs that want all of Bloomreach's merchandising. That means the Elevate tier, on an annual contract.

Its limit. Grow caps you at 10 rules per index and 30 days of analytics. And Algolia counts a search on every keystroke, so budget for it. Our guide to switching from Algolia covers that trap.

How to migrate. Push your catalog into an index, rebuild synonyms and boosting rules, then compare two numbers before and after: zero-result search rate and revenue per search session.

Doofinder: plug-and-play search for smaller stores

Discovery · SMB

Why move to Doofinder. Doofinder, a Spanish vendor based in Valencia, sells ready-to-plug search with public prices. Basic is $49/month ($44 billed yearly) for 10K searches, Pro $149 ($134) for 150K, Advanced $349 ($314) for 400K.

Who it's for. Shopify, PrestaShop, WooCommerce, Magento, or BigCommerce stores that want to replace Discovery without a developer.

Who it's not for. Brands with heavy search traffic and complex merchandising rules. Past 400K searches, look at Algolia.

Its limit. Volumes are capped per tier, and fine-tuning is more limited than with a custom-built engine.

How to migrate. Install your platform's plugin during the 15-day trial, let it index your catalog, then compare results on your 20 most frequent searches before turning Bloomreach off.

Storyblok: replace Bloomreach Content

Content · CMS

Why move to Storyblok. If you only used Bloomreach's CMS (formerly Hippo CMS), Storyblok is a headless CMS (content served to your site by API) with a visual editor marketing teams can run without a developer. Starter is free for one seat, 100 GB, and two languages. Growth is $99/month ($90.75 yearly) for 5 seats, Growth Plus $349 ($319.91) for 15 seats and 10 languages.

Who it's for. Teams running a brand site or an ecommerce site with a separate frontend.

Who it's not for. Anyone also replacing email or search. Storyblok only replaces Content.

Its limit. Each extra seat is $15, and tiers above Growth Plus are custom quotes. A multilingual site outgrows the free plan's two languages fast.

How to migrate. Export models and entries through Bloomreach's Content Import and Export API, recreate your content types in Storyblok, import, then point your site at the new API. Use the 45-day trial to move one full section before you commit.

Bloomreach and 9 alternatives side by side

Our default picks: Klaviyo for a Shopify store, Braze for an app, Algolia for search, Storyblok for the CMS. For scale: Bloomreach starts at $60K a year, or $5,000 a month. Klaviyo starts at $20/month for 500 contacts, Brevo at $9, Algolia Grow at $0 base. One row per tool: the product it replaces on the left, its entry price on the right.

Migration plan

Get off Bloomreach in eight steps

Order matters. Each step protects something: your budget, your customer data, their consent, and the revenue your scenarios bring in.

01

Check when your contract ends

First

Bloomreach bills annually. Find your renewal date and notice period: that sets your timeline. If renewal is close, either negotiate a short extension to finish the move, or leave before it renews.

Use it as leverage, too. Since overages are billed separately, ask for a breakdown of your recent usage.

Time
one hour
Risk if skipped
another full year
02

Inventory each product

Week 1

List what runs in each product. Engagement: segments, scenarios, email templates, web layers, integrations (Shopify, Snowflake, Segment). Discovery: synonyms, boosting rules, search pages. Content: content types, languages, pages.

One screenshot per scenario is enough, with its conditions and delays. Anything you don't write down won't make the move.

Output
one row per item
Risk if skipped
a lost scenario
03

Get the right export permissions

Week 1

Raw data export in Engagement needs two permissions: Exports Module Admin and Personal Data Viewer. Ask your project admin now, not the day before the contract ends.

Create the target folder before the first export, on your storage (Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, Azure, or an SFTP server).

Formats
CSV or JSON
Targets
S3, GCS, Azure, SFTP
04

Export customers, then events

Week 2

Run a scheduled export of customers, then a second one of events. Only one scheduled export runs at a time, so chain them instead of launching both.

Keep a full copy outside Bloomreach, even if your new tool imports only part of it. Those files are your only archive once the account closes.

Order
customers, then events
Risk if skipped
lost history
06

Clean duplicates before import

Week 2

Bloomreach only merges profiles on email, so you likely have duplicates: the same customer with two phone numbers, or an anonymous profile never linked. Deduplicate before import, on email first, then phone.

If you sell in several countries, add a clean country column. It will drive your segments in the new tool.

Key
email, then phone
Risk if skipped
contacts billed twice
07

Rebuild the scenarios that make money

Weeks 3 to 4

Scenarios, segments, and templates don't export as such. They get rebuilt. Start with the ones that drive revenue (abandoned cart, welcome, post-purchase), then the rest. Send each one to yourself before switching it on.

For Discovery, measure zero-result rate and revenue per search session before and after. For Content, export through the import and export API, then repoint your site.

Priority
cart, welcome, post-purchase
Check
a send to yourself
08

Cut over, and keep Bloomreach running in parallel

End

Move your forms and site to the new tool, then ramp up sending volume on your new domain gradually. Keep Bloomreach live until the contract ends to compare numbers and recover anything missing.

Don't shut anything off until your exports are verified, file by file, against the expected row count.

Migration pitfalls

What makes a Bloomreach exit go wrong

The same mistakes keep showing up. None is really technical. They're oversights, and each one costs data or budget.

Picking a tool before knowing which product you're leaving

Moving from Bloomreach to another all-in-one often buys the same problem again. List what you actually use, product by product. You might swap Engagement for Klaviyo and keep Discovery another year.

Finding the renewal date too late

The contract is annual. A migration started two weeks before renewal means another year to pay or a rushed exit. Your timeline starts from the end date.

Exporting the day before shutdown

Without export permissions, nothing comes out, and only one scheduled export runs at a time. Get permissions and run exports in week two.

Assuming scenarios come along

Only raw data leaves. A scenario you didn't document is a scenario lost, along with the revenue it brought in.

Re-importing unsubscribes

The worst mistake. Unsubscribes go into a suppression list, never into active contacts. Check the counts after every import.

Forgetting the bots on search

Bot traffic doesn't disappear with Bloomreach. At Algolia too, every call counts, so filter automated traffic before plugging in the new engine.

  • Contract end date and notice period noted
  • Inventory per product done
  • Exports Module Admin and Personal Data Viewer granted
  • Customers and events exported and archived
  • Consent and unsubscribes in a suppression list
  • Duplicates cleaned on email and phone
  • Revenue scenarios rebuilt and checked by a send to yourself
  • Zero-result search rate measured before and after
FAQ · 8 questions

Bloomreach alternatives: frequently asked questions

  • How much does Bloomreach cost?

Bloomreach doesn't publish a rate card, but its pricing page gives a marker: starting at $60K a year for smaller brands. The amount depends on audience, catalog, products enabled, and volumes, with annual billing and overages billed separately. There's no free plan or trial, only a demo.

  • Can you buy just one Bloomreach product?

Yes. Bloomreach sells email, marketing automation, and ecommerce search separately, with Loomi AI agents as an add-on. That's useful leverage: if you keep only one product, your contract should shrink accordingly.

  • Is there a free Bloomreach alternative?

For parts of it. Brevo has a free plan at 300 emails a day, Klaviyo at 250 active profiles, Algolia gives 10K searches a month, Storyblok one free seat. No free plan replaces the whole platform, but for a small brand these four often cover the essentials.

  • Bloomreach vs Klaviyo: what's the difference?

Klaviyo only does ecommerce email and SMS, with a price that tracks your list. Bloomreach adds real-time customer data, site search, and a CMS, on a contract from $60K a year. If you only use email, Klaviyo covers it for far less.

  • Is Bloomreach good for Shopify Plus?

It integrates with Shopify among 175+ integrations, but it targets brands with 500,000+ monthly visitors. Smaller Shopify stores are better served by Klaviyo or Brevo. Our marketing automation comparison ranks more options.

  • Can you export Bloomreach scenarios?

No, not in a form another tool can read. Engagement exports raw data (customers and events) as CSV or JSON. Scenarios, segments, and templates get documented with screenshots and rebuilt in the new tool.

  • Is Bloomreach the same as Exponea?

Partly. Bloomreach acquired Exponea in 2021, and Exponea became Bloomreach Engagement. Content comes from the former Hippo CMS. All three products are still maintained, so leaving is a choice, not a forced move.

  • How long does a Bloomreach migration take?

Think in weeks, not days, and work back from your contract end date. Exports need permissions and run one at a time, and every scenario is rebuilt by hand. A brand with a few flows moves fast; a multi-country retailer takes much longer.
