LivePlan alternatives: where to go and how to keep your forecast
Five destinations, one per reason to leave, and a seven-step switch plan.
The short answer: ProjectionHub if the plan exists to get an SBA or bank loan approved ($499 once for every template), Upmetrics if you liked LivePlan's guided writing but want another option, Bizplan if you want to pay once and be done ($349 lifetime), Brixx or Agicap if your business is already running and you need forecasting more than a plan. We compared all five and checked their prices in 2026.
The ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.
Why people leave LivePlan, and what they miss
LivePlan is still a solid tool: 550+ sample plans by industry, a forecast that links P&L, cash flow and balance sheet, and a QuickBooks Online and Xero connection. People leave over price, over paying monthly for a one-time job, and over features locked behind the top plan. Six reasons, checked in 2026, each with what users actually wrote about it.
No free plan, no trial
You pay first, then get a 35-day money-back guarantee. Standard runs $20 a month, or $15 billed yearly; Premium $40, or $30 yearly. For a two-month loan file that's fine. For a yearly renewal you forgot about, Premium is $360.
What users say: on Trustpilot, Reilly Fox gave one star because "I requested a refund 30 MINUTES after purchasing" and still didn't get it. The guarantee is real, but read its conditions before you pay, and ask for the refund in writing.
Scenarios sit on Premium
LivePlan sells Premium as "Everything in Standard, PLUS deeper research, scenarios, and financial analysis." Your lender will ask what happens if revenue lands 30% lower. Answering that inside the tool doubles your bill.
The feature is worth it when you need it. One Trustpilot reviewer, Matt, writes that "the scenario planning is genuinely useful". The catch is only the price: if you need one downside case for one bank meeting, Brixx Professional gives you three plans side by side for $40 a month billed yearly.
A subscription for a one-time job
Most people write a plan once, get the loan, and stop. Paying monthly for a document you finished in March is the most common reason for switching to a one-time purchase like ProjectionHub+ or Bizplan Lifetime.
Review sites repeat the same complaint: the monthly fee keeps running in the months you don't touch the plan. The fix is simple: pause or cancel between funding rounds, and export everything before you do.
One active company at a time
You can create unlimited plans, but only one company is active at a time and only one plan can be open for editing. Consultants and serial founders feel this daily.
Consultants also hit a second wall. Reviewers report that a forecast can't be copied from one plan into another. If you model several clients, plan on rebuilding each forecast by hand, or move to a tool with several plans per account (Brixx Enterprise has five).
The Expert add-on costs extra
Human help comes as LivePlan Expert, a $30 monthly add-on on top of your plan. Standard plus Expert is $50 a month billed monthly, more than Premium alone.
Some people buy Expert because the forecast feels locked. Some reviewers find the forecast simple and hard to adjust on their own. If that's your reason, ProjectionHub's done-for-you projections ($750 once) cost the same as 25 months of Expert at $30 a month, and the file is yours to keep.
Billing complaints
Across review sites, the most repeated complaints are about auto-renewals and refunds rather than the product itself. Set a calendar reminder before your renewal date.
Two reviews show the pattern: one user saw $40 monthly charges for ten months without any warning email, another was charged again a month after cancelling. Other users say the opposite: cancellation was easy, with a reminder before the next billing cycle. Check your card statement the month after you cancel.
You're leaving because… go to…

LivePlan alternatives, tool by tool
For each tool: why move there, who it fits, its limit, how to bring your LivePlan work over, and what it costs. Prices are as listed in 2026, before tax. The order follows our scores, the same ones as in our financial forecasting software ranking.
The tools
ProjectionHub: built for getting the loan approved
Score 4.1/5Why move. If your LivePlan subscription existed to produce a lender package, ProjectionHub goes straight at that. ProjectionHub+ gives you lifetime access to 100+ industry projection templates for a one-time $499. If you'd rather not build it yourself, an expert builds your financial projections for $750, first draft in two business days, unlimited revisions.
Who it's for. Founders applying for an SBA loan or a bank loan in the US.
Who it's not for. Anyone who needs the written narrative tool LivePlan had: the template library is about the numbers.
Its limit. It's Excel-based. You need to be comfortable in a spreadsheet, or pay for the done-for-you service.
How to switch. Export your LivePlan forecast to CSV, pick the template for your industry, and re-enter assumptions (pricing, volumes, payroll, loan terms), not the calculated totals.
Tips before you pay. Start with the free options: a single industry template is free, with five years of projections and a complimentary projection review. The SBA Readiness Review is free too, and tells you whether you are eligible and which lenders to approach. If you only need a second opinion, the 60-minute SBA expert call is $150. The SBA Pre-Qualification package ($500) includes a call with two SBA lenders and a $250 credit toward projections, so it makes the $750 projections cost $500 if you go on.
Price. $499 one time for ProjectionHub+; $750 for expert-built projections; $2,500 for business plan plus projections. Over three years, ProjectionHub+ stays at $499, against $1,080 for LivePlan Premium billed yearly.

Upmetrics: the closest match
Score 4.0/5Why move. Upmetrics works like LivePlan: a guided written plan plus a financial forecast. Premium costs $19 a month, or $14 billed yearly, against $30 for LivePlan Premium billed yearly; Professional (3 companies) is $49, or $37 yearly.
Who it's for. Founders writing for investors, accelerators or grant programs who liked LivePlan's approach.
Who it's not for. Established businesses wanting live accounting sync and budget-versus-actuals.
Its limit. Switching tools doesn't change the method. If LivePlan's way of thinking was the problem, Upmetrics won't fix it.
How to switch. Paste your written sections from the Word export, then rebuild the forecast from the CSV category by category. Both tools think in revenue, direct costs, payroll and expenses, so mapping is quick.
Tip. Before you buy, write down LivePlan Premium's yearly cost ($360) and check whether the Upmetrics plan you need includes scenarios and your number of plans. A lower monthly price means little if the feature you left for sits on the top tier again.
Price. Premium $19 a month or $14 billed yearly ($168 a year), with forecasts up to 7 years; Professional $49 or $37. A 15-day money-back guarantee, against 35 days at LivePlan.

Agicap: when cash, not the plan, is the job
Score 3.8/5Why move. Many teams keep LivePlan after launch only for the cash forecast. Agicap is a dedicated cash management tool: it forecasts treasury from your real bank flows.
Who it's for. Running SMBs with several bank accounts and real cash pressure.
Who it's not for. A founder writing a first business plan. Agicap doesn't write plans.
Its limit. No public price, and the contract is yearly, 12 months minimum.
How to switch. Use your LivePlan forecast as the starting budget, then let Agicap's bank data replace it month by month.
Tip. Because the contract runs 12 months minimum, sign only once your bank accounts are all connected and the first forecast matches reality. Ask for the price per entity if you run several companies: that is the real cost driver.
Price. Quote only; yearly subscription, 12-month minimum. Ask for the trial before signing.

Bizplan: pay once, keep it forever
Score 3.8/5Why move. Bizplan offers a guided plan builder and simple financial tools, with a lifetime option: $349 once. Against LivePlan Premium billed yearly ($360 a year), it pays for itself in under a year; against Standard ($180 a year), in about two years.
Who it's for. Founders who want LivePlan's guided format without a monthly bill.
Who it's not for. Anyone who needs detailed three-statement modeling: Bizplan's financial tools are the simple kind.
Its limit. Lighter forecasting than LivePlan or ProjectionHub.
How to switch. Copy sections from your Word export into the builder, then re-enter your top-level revenue and cost assumptions.
Which Bizplan option. Monthly ($29) only makes sense for a plan you finish in under a year: twelve months cost $348, one dollar less than lifetime. The yearly plan ($249) beats lifetime only if you stop within a year; at two years it costs $498, $149 more than lifetime.
Price. $29 a month, $249 a year ($20.75 a month), or $349 lifetime.

Brixx: scenarios for a business that's already running
Score 3.7/5Why move. Once you're operating, forecasting matters more than the plan. Brixx is built around scenarios you compare side by side, with up to 10 years on Enterprise.
Who it's for. Owners testing a hire, a new location or a raise.
Who it's not for. Founders who need the written plan: Brixx doesn't do text.
Its limit. Foundations only forecasts one year, one plan. Three years needs Professional.
How to switch. Load your LivePlan CSV as the base case, then build a cautious second scenario right away. That's the feature you were paying Premium for.
Price. Foundations $25 a month or $20 billed yearly (1 plan, 1 year); Professional $50 or $40 (3 plans, 3 years); Enterprise $75 or $60 (5 plans, 10 years). Excludes tax. Users are unlimited on every plan, so your accountant and cofounder join for free; extra plans on Enterprise are $4 a month billed yearly.

LivePlan and 5 alternatives side by side

What each option really costs over three years
Monthly prices hide the real bill. Here is what you pay in total, from list prices before tax, if you keep each tool for one, two or three years. One-time purchases stop costing anything after day one; subscriptions keep running until you cancel.
| 1 year | 2 years / 3 years | |
|---|---|---|
| LivePlan StandardBilled yearly | $180 | $360 / $540 |
| LivePlan StandardBilled monthly | $240 | $480 / $720 |

| LivePlan Premium + ExpertBilled monthly | $840 | $1,680 / $2,520 |

| Brixx ProfessionalBilled yearly, 3 plans | $480 | $960 / $1,440 |

List prices before tax. Our read: for a loan file you finish within a year, Upmetrics Premium billed yearly ($168) is the cheapest guided option, just under LivePlan Standard ($180); past two years, Bizplan Lifetime wins, and for lender projections ProjectionHub+ wins from the second year.
Leave LivePlan in seven steps
Order matters. While your subscription runs, you can export everything; after that, you depend on support.
Steps
List what's in your account
Day 1Open each plan and note what exists: written plan, forecast, pitch, dashboard, accounting connection. Write down your renewal date: that's your real deadline. Only one company is active at a time, so switch between them to export each.
- Time
- one hour
- Risk if rushed
- a forgotten plan
Export all three pieces, not just the PDF
Day 1Plan to Word (editable) and PDF (what the lender saw), pitch to PDF or PowerPoint, forecast to CSV. A PDF alone means retyping every number.
- Formats
- Word, PDF, PowerPoint, CSV
- Risk if rushed
- retype everything
Pull out assumptions, not results
Day 2The CSV holds calculated outputs. What you need are inputs: prices, monthly volumes, cost of goods, payroll, rent, equipment, loan amount and rate. One page, nothing else. That page is what you re-enter; the new tool recalculates the rest.
- Output
- one page of inputs
- Time
- 2 to 3 hours
Rebuild in the new tool
Day 2Enter the inputs, then add what LivePlan handled for you: taxes, payroll burden, loan amortization. Check whether the new tool wants monthly or yearly figures before typing.
- Key check
- monthly vs yearly
- Risk if rushed
- wrong cash flow
Compare the old and new totals
Day 3Put year-one revenue, net income and ending cash side by side. A few percent of difference comes from tax treatment. A 30% gap means a mistyped input.
- Three numbers
- revenue, profit, cash
- Time
- one hour
Move the written plan
Days 3 to 5Start from the Word export. Cut what's stale, update numbers to match the new forecast, and put your ask and your use of funds on page one.
- Time
- half a day
- Tip
- the ask on page one
Cancel before renewal and keep proof
Before renewalCancel from your account a few days before the renewal date and save the confirmation email. Auto-renewal is the top complaint in user reviews. If you just subscribed, the 35-day money-back guarantee still applies.
- Guarantee
- 35 days
- Keep
- confirmation email

What makes a LivePlan switch go wrong
The same mistakes show up in reviews and founder forums. None is technical; each costs more than the time to avoid it.
Exporting only the PDF
Without the CSV and Word file, you retype thirty pages and hundreds of numbers. Do all three exports the same day.
Copying results instead of inputs
Pasting a P&L built elsewhere breaks the new tool's logic: change a price and nothing follows. Re-enter causes, let the tool calculate.
Paying twice
Overlap is fine for a week. Paying LivePlan for another year because the renewal slipped is $180 to $360.
Picking a plan tool for a cash problem
If you're already operating, a plan writer won't help you make payroll. Pick a forecasting or cash tool instead: our cash flow management software ranking compares them.
- Plan exported to Word and PDF
- Pitch exported
- Forecast exported to CSV
- Inputs page written
- Totals compared
- Cancellation confirmed in writing
LivePlan alternatives: common questions
What is the best free alternative to LivePlan?
There's no free tool with LivePlan's depth. The closest free option is a spreadsheet template (our guide to moving off Excel covers its limits); ProjectionHub offers free individual templates with five years of projections. Our forecasting software ranking covers paid options.
Is LivePlan worth it in 2026?
For a one-time loan file written in a month or two, yes: $20 to $40 and a 35-day guarantee. For a plan you'll never edit again, a one-time purchase like Bizplan Lifetime ($349) or ProjectionHub+ ($499) is cheaper past a year or so of Premium.
Can I import a LivePlan plan into another tool?
Not directly. You export text to Word and the forecast to CSV, then re-enter assumptions. Expect two to three days for a full plan.
How much does LivePlan cost per month?
Standard is $20 a month or $15 billed yearly; Premium is $40 or $30 billed yearly. LivePlan Expert is a $30 monthly add-on.
Does LivePlan offer a free trial?
No. It offers a 35-day money-back guarantee instead, so you pay up front and can ask for a refund within that window.
What's better than LivePlan for an SBA loan?
ProjectionHub is built for lender projections, and its expert service builds them for $750. LivePlan works too; what matters is clean assumptions and a monthly cash flow for year one.
How much does LivePlan cost over three years?
$540 on Standard billed yearly, $1,080 on Premium billed yearly, and $2,520 if you pay Premium plus Expert monthly. A one-time tool such as Bizplan Lifetime ($349) or ProjectionHub+ ($499) costs less than LivePlan Premium from year two.
Can I pause LivePlan instead of cancelling?
The pricing page shows no pause option, only monthly or yearly billing with no contract. The safe route: export the plan to Word and PDF and the forecast to CSV, cancel, and resubscribe the month you need it again. Keep your inputs page so the rebuild takes hours, not days.
