Rebuy alternatives: what to switch to, and how to leave without breaking your cart

Eight apps sorted by your reason for leaving, plus an eight-step exit plan.

Short answer: UpCart if Smart Cart was the point, AfterSell or Zipify OneClickUpsell for post-purchase offers, ReConvert to cover the whole funnel for under $40 a month, Selleasy if you're done paying per order, LimeSpot to keep personalized recommendations. One thing to know first: nothing exports from Rebuy into another app. Widgets, rules and your cart get rebuilt by hand, and some of your discounts ran on Shopify Scripts, which Shopify retired in 2026. We compared these eight apps and checked their prices on official listings in 2026.

The ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.

The real reasons

Why stores leave Rebuy

Rebuy is a powerful engine: cart, AI recommendations, search, post-purchase, A/B tests, all built for Shopify. Plenty of brands credit it with a few dollars of extra AOV. People leave over price, over how it's sold, and over a platform deadline nobody planned for.

Package pricing that scales with your sales

Rebuy starts at $25 a month, but that's for one package, and the price tracks your monthly Shopify orders (the official selector runs from 250 to 50,000). Features aren't sold one by one: want only the cart drawer, and you pay for the whole Cart & Merchandising package. In reviews and comparisons the same phrase keeps coming up: a tax on growth.

Real support costs $499 extra

Premium Support with an account manager is a $499 a month add-on. Two-star reviews mostly complain about slow or off-target replies, especially during peaks like Black Friday. For a store doing 200 orders a month, that add-on outweighs the subscription.

The App Store listing is gone

In 2026, Rebuy's Shopify App Store listing reads "not currently available" and sends you to Rebuy's support. Existing stores keep running, but you can't read recent reviews or install in one click the way you can with every other app on this page.

Shopify Scripts are retired

Shopify stopped supporting Scripts after June 30, 2026, and Rebuy used them for part of its discounting. Simple discounts move to Shopify Functions; conditional discounts and tiered bundles don't. If you're rebuilding anyway, you look around.

A steep learning curve

Smart Flows and merchandising rules take time. Several reviews talk about days to understand flows and a developer to customize the cart. One merchant reports paying $1,500 for custom cart work on top of the subscription.

Code that stays behind

On older themes, Rebuy code stays in your theme files after uninstall. It renders nothing but can still load. Don't skip it (step 7 of the plan).

The 8 alternatives

Rebuy alternatives, app by app

For each app: why switch to it, who it fits, the catch, how to move over from Rebuy, and what it costs. Prices are the ones shown on the Shopify App Store in 2026, in US dollars, billed every 30 days.

01

UpCart: if Smart Cart was the only reason you paid for Rebuy

Cart drawer replacement

Why switch to UpCart. Plenty of stores pay for Rebuy's Cart & Merchandising package to get one thing: the slide-out cart with a free-shipping progress bar and two suggested products. UpCart does that job at a price you can read on the listing: $29.99 a month up to 200 orders, $34.99 up to 500, $54.99 up to 1,000.

Who it fits. Stores doing 50 to 1,000 orders a month that want a clean cart drawer, in-cart upsells, a rewards bar and add-ons like shipping protection, without a dev project.

Who it doesn't fit. Brands that want homepage recommendations, smart search or post-purchase offers. UpCart lives in the cart and stays there.

The catch. Pricing still follows your order count, just like Rebuy, so growth moves you up a tier. The free plan is for development stores only. Our review scores it 3.5 out of 5, mostly for its narrow scope outside the cart.

Moving over from Rebuy. Turn off Smart Cart in the Rebuy admin first, then switch on the UpCart drawer in the theme editor. Rebuild your free-shipping thresholds and suggested products by hand, since nothing imports. Check on mobile that the old drawer no longer opens on top of the new one.

AfterSell: keep the post-purchase offers that actually pay

Post-purchase

Why switch to AfterSell. If your Checkout & Post-Purchase package earns its keep, it's the one-click offer right after payment doing the work: the shopper says yes without re-entering a card. AfterSell specializes in exactly that. Post-Purchase is $34.99 a month; Complete (cart, product page, post-purchase and a recommendation engine) is $79.99.

Who it fits. Stores selling consumables or accessories, where a discounted second item right after checkout is an easy yes.

Who it doesn't fit. Stores that want one tool for the whole funnel on a tight budget: at $79.99, Complete costs about the same as two Rebuy packages.

The catch. In-checkout upsells still need Shopify Plus, same as Rebuy. Our review gives it 3.7 out of 5: strong after checkout, pricier than ReConvert for a small store.

Moving over from Rebuy. List your live Rebuy post-purchase offers (product, discount, trigger), then switch them off in the Rebuy admin before you turn AfterSell on. Two post-purchase offers fighting each other kills both. The 30-day trial gives you a full month to compare take rates.

ReConvert: the widest coverage for under $40

Cheapest full funnel

Why switch to ReConvert. ReConvert covers the product page, cart, post-purchase and thank-you page, with AI recommendations and A/B tests on every plan. On its Shopify listing it's free up to 50 orders or $50 in upsell revenue, then $9.99, $19.99 and $39.99 a month up to 500 orders.

Who it fits. Small stores under 500 orders a month that want most of what Rebuy did for the price of a single package.

Who it doesn't fit. Large-catalog brands that relied on Rebuy's Smart Search and Smart Collections. ReConvert has neither.

The catch. Two price grids exist, one on the app listing and one on the developer's site. Check the plan offered at install. Checkout upsells need Shopify Plus.

Moving over from Rebuy. Install it during the 14-day trial, rebuild your thank-you page first (it pays back fastest), then the product page widgets. Switch off each matching Rebuy widget at the same moment, not before.

Candy Rack: the offer at the "add to cart" click

Product page

Why switch to Candy Rack. Candy Rack shows the accessory, the warranty or the upgrade at the exact moment someone adds to cart. A cart drawer is included. Pricing follows online orders: $29.99 up to 50, $39.99 up to 200, $59.99 up to 500. Upsell revenue is never billed.

Who it fits. Stores selling products with add-ons (warranty, refills, accessories) that want a translated admin.

Who it doesn't fit. Stores above 500 orders a month hunting for the lowest bill: the tiers climb fast.

The catch. No free plan for a live store and a short 8-day trial. In return, there's a 60-day money-back guarantee, the longest on this page.

Moving over from Rebuy. Rebuild your Rebuy product offers as Candy Rack rules triggered by product or collection. If you used Smart Cart, turn on Candy Rack's drawer the same day so shoppers never see two carts.

Selleasy: stop paying per order

Flat pricing

Why switch to Selleasy. The top complaint about Rebuy is a bill that grows with your sales. Selleasy never counts orders: free with 5 campaigns, then Starter at $9, Pro at $29 and Max at $59 a month, about 15% less on annual billing.

Who it fits. Growing stores that want a fixed cost for frequently-bought-together bundles, cart offers and post-purchase offers.

Who it doesn't fit. Brands that want truly per-visitor personalization. The logic is mostly rule-based.

The catch. The developer had a security incident in 2026: a third party injected a script through an internal tool. Read their response before installing and keep an eye on updates.

Moving over from Rebuy. Selleasy ships 18 ready-made strategies. Rebuild your Rebuy widgets one at a time on the free plan, measure for two weeks, then move to Starter if you need more than 5 campaigns.

Zipify OneClickUpsell: pay for what upsells earn

Billed on results

Why switch to Zipify OneClickUpsell. Zipify OCU flips Rebuy's model: your order volume is never billed. You pay $9.95 a month while upsells earn under $200, $25 to $99 up to $2,500, then $149 and up with revenue, capped at $999.

Who it fits. High-volume brands whose offers convert modestly. They pay the floor.

Who it doesn't fit. Stores where upsells convert really well: past $2,500 a month in upsell revenue, the bill starts to look like Rebuy's.

The catch. One-star reviews mention offers that don't fire and duplicate orders. Run every funnel on a real order before you switch Rebuy off.

Moving over from Rebuy. Rebuild your Rebuy post-purchase offers as OCU funnels, with a cheaper downsell if the shopper says no. The 30-day trial covers a full billing cycle.

LimeSpot: keep personalized recommendations

Personalization

Why switch to LimeSpot. If you liked Rebuy's recommendation engine more than its cart, LimeSpot is the closest match: recommendations on every page, bundles, post-purchase offers. Turbo starts at $9.99 ($19.99 up to 250 orders); Max starts at $50 ($150 up to $50k in revenue) with segmentation, A/B/n tests and email personalization.

Who it fits. Wide catalogs (200+ SKUs) where "customers also bought" actually moves product.

Who it doesn't fit. Shopify Plus stores looking for a small plan: Turbo isn't Plus-compatible, so you need Max.

The catch. Max is billed on store revenue, the same growth tax you're leaving Rebuy over. Recent reviews mention surprise charges, so read the first invoice line by line.

Moving over from Rebuy. Install during the 15-day trial, let it learn from your sales, then replace Rebuy widgets page by page while comparing click-through.

Frequently Bought Together: simple bundles, low price

Product page bundles

Why switch to Frequently Bought Together. A lot of stores use Rebuy just to show a bundle under the product. Frequently Bought Together does that alone, with AI picking the pairings and four discount types. Free for 3 manual bundles, then $9.99, $24.99 and $39.99 a month.

Who it fits. Stores that only want product page bundles with a discount.

Who it doesn't fit. Stores that also want cart or post-purchase offers: that means a second app.

The catch. No post-purchase or checkout offers. Tiered bundles that Rebuy ran through Shopify Scripts have to be rebuilt as simple discounts.

Moving over from Rebuy. Write down your Rebuy dynamic bundles, rebuild the best sellers by hand, then let the AI fill in the rest. Switch off the Rebuy product page widget the same day.

The comparison

The 8 alternatives side by side

Our default pick: ReConvert for a small store, UpCart plus AfterSell for a store that lived off the cart and post-purchase. For a sense of scale at 400 orders a month: UpCart $34.99 and AfterSell Post-Purchase $34.99, about $70 for both, while ReConvert covers everything for $39.99 and Selleasy Starter for $9. Rebuy starts at $25 per package before order-based pricing kicks in.

Exit plan

Leave Rebuy in eight steps

Order matters. Each step protects something: your cart, your discounts, your bill, your page speed.

01

Audit what Rebuy actually does for you

Day 1

Open the Rebuy admin and list every live element: widgets (page, placement, rule), Smart Cart and its tiers, Smart Flows, post-purchase offers, checkout extensions, bundles, discounts. Write down the revenue Rebuy attributes to each one.

Most stores find two or three widgets bring in most of the revenue. Rebuild those first. The rest can wait or go.

Time

Risk if rushed
a forgotten offer
02

Flag the discounts that ran on Shopify Scripts

Day 1

Shopify stops supporting Scripts after June 30, 2026. Conditional discounts and tiered bundles that Rebuy ran that way don't carry over to Shopify Functions.

List them separately: at your new app they're usually Shopify automatic discounts you rebuild by hand. Don't delete Rebuy's discounts in Shopify until you're done, or live offers break.

Deadline

Watch for
double discounts
03

Pick one app per job, not a Rebuy clone

Week 1

Rebuy sells four packages. Few stores need all four. Take one app for the cart, one for post-purchase if it pays, and keep Shopify's native search if you never used Smart Search.

Two focused apps often cost less than one package, but every app adds code. Past two, check your store speed.

Rule

Suggested cap

04

Install the new app alongside, offers off

Week 1

Install during the trial, build your offers, keep them as drafts. Rebuy stays live in the meantime.

Preview every offer on mobile. That's where two cart drawers end up stacked.

05

Switch one feature at a time

Week 2

Turn off one Rebuy widget with its live toggle, turn on the replacement the same day, place a test order. Do the cart last: it breaks the most.

Rebuy's checkout extensions and post-purchase offers keep running even when Rebuy no longer loads on the storefront. Turn them off one by one in the admin.

06

Uninstall Rebuy before the next cycle

Before billing

Uninstalling from Apps, then App and sales channel settings, cancels the subscription. Do it before the next 30-day cycle starts. On an annual contract, talk to your account manager first.

Your settings stay with Rebuy, so a reinstall brings them back if you need to roll back.

After

On an older (V1) theme, Rebuy code stays in your theme files. Search for "rebuy" in theme.liquid and snippets and remove tags that load rebuy.js.

Check in the browser console: window.Rebuy?._status should return undefined. Leftover code slows the page without showing anything.

Exit pitfalls

What makes a Rebuy exit go wrong

The same mistakes show up in reviews and Shopify Community threads. None is fatal alone. Together, they drag AOV down for weeks and nobody can say why.

Two carts opening

Smart Cart and the new drawer both live, or the theme's native cart flashing before the app's: shoppers see two carts and bail. Turn one off before you turn the other on, and test on mobile.

Forgetting post-purchase

Rebuy's post-purchase offers keep running even when Rebuy no longer loads on the storefront. Turn AfterSell on next to them and shoppers get two offers. Switch them off one by one in the Rebuy admin.

Uninstalling after the billing date

Rebuy bills on a 30-day cycle. Uninstall the day after renewal and you pay a month for nothing. Note the cycle date before you start.

Deleting discounts too early

Deleting Rebuy's discounts in Shopify mid-transition breaks offers that are still live. Keep them until uninstall, then clean up.

Stacking three apps

A cart app, a post-purchase app, a bundles app: each loads its own code. Past two, measure product page speed before and after.

Judging on one week

AOV gets compared over four weeks, same season. Our UpCart review and AfterSell review explain what each one tracks.

  • Widgets, cart, flows and post-purchase offers audited
  • Discounts that ran on Shopify Scripts listed
  • One app per job, two at most
  • New app installed, offers in draft
  • Switch one feature at a time, one test order each
  • Rebuy post-purchase offers and checkout extensions turned off
  • Rebuy uninstalled before the next cycle
  • rebuy.js removed from the theme, checked in the console
  • AOV compared over four weeks
FAQ · 8 questions

Rebuy alternatives: common questions

  • What is cheaper than Rebuy?

For a fixed cost, Selleasy: free with 5 campaigns, then $9 a month no matter how many orders you run. For a small store, ReConvert is free up to 50 orders. Both cover product page, cart and post-purchase. Our ranking of upsell apps compares every plan.

  • How much does Rebuy cost in 2026?

Rebuy starts at $25 a month for one package, and the price rises with your monthly Shopify orders. Two packages get 10% off, all four get 30%, and annual billing takes another 10% off. Premium Support is a $499 a month add-on, and the all-in plan is quote-only.

  • Why can't I find Rebuy on the Shopify App Store?

In 2026 its listing reads "not currently available" and points you to Rebuy's support. The service still runs for stores that have it. For a new install, go through Rebuy's site and ask how billing works.

  • What happens to Rebuy discounts now that Shopify Scripts are gone?

Percentage and fixed-amount discounts move to Shopify Functions. Conditional discounts and tiered bundles don't. Remove Rebuy's discount script from the Script Editor to avoid double discounts, and rebuild those cases in your new app.

  • Can I pause Rebuy without uninstalling it?

Yes. Turn off the Rebuy JS setting in the Rebuy admin and the Rebuy Connector app embed in your theme. Post-purchase offers and checkout extensions keep running, so switch those off separately. It's a cheap way to run a week without Rebuy before you decide.

  • Do I need Shopify Plus to replace Rebuy?

Only for offers inside checkout itself: ReConvert, AfterSell and Zipify OCU all reserve that for Plus, like Rebuy does. Product page, cart and post-purchase offers work on every Shopify plan.

  • UpCart or AfterSell to replace Rebuy?

UpCart if you kept Rebuy for the cart drawer, AfterSell if it was for post-purchase. Both come from the same developer, and our AfterSell vs UpCart page puts them head to head.

  • Is Shopify's free Search & Discovery app enough?

For related products on the product page, yes: it's free and shows complementary products you pick by hand (up to 10 per type). It doesn't discount bundles, run a cart or do post-purchase, and its App Store rating sits low at 2.6 out of 5.
