Trainerize alternatives: where to go and how to move your clients
Seven destinations, one per reason for leaving, and a seven-step migration plan.
Short answer: Everfit if you want the same kind of tool for less, with migration done for you. TrueCoach if you're in the US and want one all-in price. Kahunas or My PT Hub once you pass 50 clients. PT Distinction if you want your own branded app without a sales call. Before you pick, know this: Trainerize lets your contacts leave, not your work. Programs come out as PDFs and client history stays put. We compared the seven destinations in this guide and checked their pricing pages in 2026.

Why coaches leave Trainerize
Trainerize still scores well on software directories, and plenty of coaches like how much it does. The people who leave point to six things: add-on pricing, client tiers, bugs, sync, cancellation and export. Each one comes from the official pricing page or from coaches and clients themselves.
Add-ons that stack up
Pro starts at $23 to $25 a month for 5 clients (the vendor's page shows both). Add integrated payments ($10) and advanced nutrition ($20) and you're at $53 to $55. At 50 clients, Trainerize's FAQ says $135, plus $10 for payments and $45 for nutrition: $190 a month, or $215 with the Business add-on.
Tiers that count every client
The free plan covers one coached client, Grow covers two ($9 or $10 depending on where you look on the page). Then Pro moves in tiers of 5, 15, 30, 50, 75, 100 and 200 clients. There's no unlimited-clients tier, so growth means a new price.
A branded app that costs extra
Your own app on Pro is a $169 one-time setup fee, and Studio pricing for it isn't published. Several alternatives include a branded app in a plan, or at least price it upfront.
Bugs and flaky syncing
Recent public reviews describe broken step and sleep syncing, an app that crashes and wipes the workout in progress, and repeated bugs. On the vendor's ideas board, the MyFitnessPal sync request has 138 votes, with delays reported up to 16 hours.
Cancellation that worries people
Several coaches say they couldn't find how to cancel in the mobile app and kept getting charged after they thought they'd canceled. Cancellation lives in the web account's Billing section, add-on by add-on. Recent negative reviews no longer get a reply from the vendor.
An export limited to contacts
You get contacts as a CSV and programs only as PDFs you print one by one. Workout history, body stats and analytics stay behind. The request to export clients to Excel has been on the ideas board since 2014. The vendor called it a great idea that year, and nothing shipped.

Trainerize alternatives, one by one
For each tool: why move there, who it's for, its catch, how to migrate from Trainerize, and what it costs. Scores come from our ranking of online coaching software, where Trainerize itself gets 4.1 out of 5. It's a good tool, just not for everyone.
The tools
Everfit: the closest match, for less
Free migrationWhy switch to Everfit. It covers the same ground as Trainerize (workout programming, habit tracking, messaging, nutrition, payments) and its free plan holds 5 clients instead of one. Everfit also offers a free done-for-you migration: its team moves your clients over and, it says, their history.
Who it's for. Coaches who like how Trainerize works but not what it costs, and who don't want to relearn their whole setup.
Who it isn't for. Coaches who want a fully white-labeled app without a sales call. Full white label is Enterprise only, priced on request. On Pro you get your logo and brand colors, not your own app listing.
The catch. Everfit also sells add-ons: payments from $9 a month, meal plans from $39, Autoflow automations from $29. Stack them all and the gap with Trainerize narrows fast.
How to migrate. Book the free migration before you cancel anything, and get in writing what moves (programs, history, body stats) and how long it takes. Neither is published. One shortcut worth knowing: Everfit's AI Workout Builder turns a text or PDF program into a structured one, so your Trainerize PDF printouts become raw material instead of retyping work.

TrueCoach: one all-in price per tier
All-inclusiveWhy switch to TrueCoach. Each tier's price covers everything, and a branded app comes with the Standard plan. No add-on math, no surprise line items on your card statement.
Who it's for. Strength and conditioning coaches in the US, UK, Australia or Canada with 5 to 50 clients who live inside the workout builder.
Who it isn't for. Coaches outside those four countries who want to collect payments in the app: integrated payments are limited to them. Also coaches selling detailed meal plans, since nutrition is lighter than on Trainerize or Everfit.
The catch. The jump from Standard ($57.99, up to 20 clients) to Pro ($136.99, up to 50) is steep. At 21 clients your bill more than doubles.
How to migrate. 14-day trial, no card. On a first annual plan TrueCoach advertises a 90-day money-back guarantee, the only real refund promise on this page. Rebuild your exercise library first, then your program templates, then invite clients.

Kahunas: pay per seat, zero commission
Cheapest at scaleWhy switch to Kahunas. Kahunas bills per seat (an active client or a team member) and the per-seat price drops as you grow: $5 up to 24 seats, $2.50 from 25 to 49, $2 from 50 to 99. Fifty seats cost $100 a month. It takes no cut of your sales: money goes through your own Stripe or PayPal.
Who it's for. Coaches with 50+ clients whose Trainerize invoice has become their biggest software expense.
Who it isn't for. Small coaching businesses that want a fully white-labeled app: white label starts at 200 seats.
The catch. The 14-day trial asks for a card. And plenty of comparison posts still quote the old $35, $69 and $99 plans. Those are gone. Trust only the vendor's pricing page.
How to migrate. Count clients who are actually active before you pick a tier, because those are the seats you pay for. Archive past clients in Trainerize, export their contacts, and invite only paying clients to Kahunas. Paying yearly takes 20% off.

- $5 per seat up to 24, then lower

My PT Hub: unlimited clients on the second plan
Unlimited clientsWhy switch to My PT Hub. On Trainerize, every client tier raises the bill. My PT Hub's Premium plan takes unlimited clients for a flat price, with payments included.
Who it's for. Coaches past 20 clients, or selling programs in volume, who are tired of counting heads.
Who it isn't for. Brand-new coaches: Starter caps at 3 clients, and Premium only pays off once you have ten or so.
The catch. Your own app costs extra: 95 one-off for a branded app, or 145 a month for full white label on Premium. The pricing page shows a $ sign without naming the currency, so check the amount at checkout.
How to migrate. 30-day trial, no card, as long as Trainerize's. Use it to run both tools side by side through one full billing cycle. The vendor sometimes runs 50% off the first two months of Premium.

PT Distinction: your own app, no sales call
Branded appWhy switch to PT Distinction. A branded iOS and Android app is available from the Pro plan, with no quote to request. On Trainerize, the branded app is a $169 setup fee on top of a Pro plan.
Who it's for. Coaches building a brand around a signature program who want clients opening their app, not someone else's.
Who it isn't for. Coaches looking for the cheapest 5-client option: Basic includes 3 clients, then $6 per extra client.
The catch. Per-client overage adds up: $2.40 per extra client on Pro (25 included), $1.60 on Master (50 included). Run the math on your real active count.
How to migrate. One-month trial. Start with the exercise library, then one template program you duplicate. Launch the branded app only after clients have moved, so nobody has to install two new apps in a month.

Hexfit: for coaches with French-speaking clients
BilingualWhy switch to Hexfit. Hexfit is built in Quebec. The coach dashboard and client app work in French as well as English, and invoicing is included from the Solo plan. The pricing page says nothing about online payments, so check that during the trial.
Who it's for. Coaches in Canada, or anyone with French-speaking clients, from 5 to 500 clients.
Who it isn't for. Coaches who want a branded app on a small plan: it's $99 a month extra and only on Studio.
The catch. Prices show a $ sign and you're billed in your card's currency (CAD, USD, EUR or CHF), so confirm the exact amount during the trial.
How to migrate. 14-day trial, no card, no commitment. Solo costs $50 for 15 or 30 clients depending on the option, with nutrition $10 extra on that plan. Rebuild one client's program from the Trainerize PDF, invite them, and see if they log in without help.

Harbiz: euro pricing and a Spanish-language app
EuropeanWhy switch to Harbiz. Harbiz is a Spanish company. Prices are in euros, the client app speaks Spanish, and paying yearly takes 25% off, the biggest annual discount here.
Who it's for. Coaches in Europe, or with Spanish-speaking clients in the US and Latin America.
Who it isn't for. Coaches who want a branded app with a price tag up front: the My APP option is quote-only.
The catch. Tier upgrades happen automatically. Add one client too many and your plan changes without asking. Watch your count at month end.
How to migrate. 14-day trial, no card. The 15-client tier is €39 a month (€29 yearly), the 50-client tier €119 (€89 yearly), before VAT. Pick the tier above your active clients, not your whole contact list.

Trainerize and 7 alternatives side by side

Switching from Trainerize in seven steps
Order matters. Each step protects something: your clients, their data, your revenue, and your peace of mind when you cancel.
The steps
List everything running on Trainerize
Day 1Write down active clients, programs, meal plans, groups, products for sale, and every live subscription with its next billing date. Add the apps your clients have connected (MyFitnessPal, wearables, smart scales) and any Zapier automations.
You'll use this list twice: to pick the right tier at your new tool, and to check nothing got left behind.
- Time
- one to two hours
- If you skip it
- a forgotten subscription keeps billing
Export contacts and print programs to PDF
Before anythingAccording to migration guides, Trainerize exports client contacts as a CSV (first name, last name, email, phone, assigned coach). Programs don't export as files: open each one, hit print, and choose "Save as PDF".
File the PDFs in one folder per client. It's tedious, but it's the only copy of your programming work that leaves with you.
- What leaves
- contacts (CSV), programs (PDF)
- What stays
- workout history, body stats, analytics
Save what won't export
ClientsWorkout logs, measurements, progress photos and adherence stay in Trainerize. On the vendor's own ideas board, a request to export a client's full data has sat unanswered since 2017.
For your most engaged clients, screenshot key progress charts and send them a summary before the move. Tell everyone their history starts fresh. Better they hear it from you.
- If you skip it
- clients who think their progress is lost
Pilot with one client
Week 1Rebuild one full program, invite a regular, forgiving client, and let them use it for a week. Check three things: do they log in alone, do they get the app, and does data from their watch or nutrition app sync.
A failed pilot costs a week. A failed migration costs clients.
- Time
- one week
- Clients
- one or two
Line up subscriptions and leave the Payments tab alone
The trapIf clients pay through Stripe via Trainerize, the payment relationship sits with your Stripe account. Note each client's last billing date on Trainerize and start their first charge on the new tool right after, so nobody pays twice.
Don't use Trainerize's Payments Tab Reset to tidy up before leaving. Per migration guides, it wipes payment history, disconnects Stripe and expires active products. Download your payment reports first.
- If you skip it
- double charges or broken subscriptions
Move everyone in one go
Week 2Once the pilot works, move everyone else at once, ideally at the start of a training block. Send each client a message with the invite link, the switch date, and what changes for them.
Keep Trainerize running two to four weeks in parallel for stragglers. A long free trial at the new tool usually covers that window.
- Overlap
- two to four weeks
Cancel cleanly and keep proof
DoneCancel from the Billing section of your web account, add-on by add-on, before your renewal date. According to the vendor's own replies to public reviews, the plan stays active until the cycle ends, then drops to the free plan (one client).
Screenshot every confirmation. Several coaches report charges after they thought they'd canceled. If in doubt, email help@trainerize.com and keep the reply.

- If you skip it

What breaks a move off Trainerize
The same mistakes show up again and again in coaches' stories. None of them is technical. They're about order, timing and telling clients.
Canceling before you've printed everything
Once you're back on the free plan, you keep one coached client. Print every program to PDF and download payment reports while your paid plan is still running.
Canceling the plan but not the add-ons
Each Trainerize add-on (payments, nutrition, video, Business) has its own cancel button. Cancel the plan and forget one, and you can keep paying $10 to $45 a month for something you no longer use.
Counting contacts instead of active clients
Most alternatives price by active client or seat. Import your full contact list and you'll land on a tier you don't need. Invite paying clients only, and archive the rest.
Picking a tool that can't take payments where you are
TrueCoach limits integrated payments to four countries, and European local methods (iDEAL in the Netherlands, Bancontact in Belgium) have been requested on Trainerize's ideas board since 2021 with no answer. Make sure your new tool can charge your clients, where they live, the way they pay.
Not warning clients
An invite email from an app nobody has heard of often lands in spam. Tell clients in person or by text a week ahead, with the date and the new app's name.
Paying for two tools too long
Two to four weeks of overlap is plenty. Beyond that you're paying twice for clients who already moved. Set your cancel date on day one and put it in your calendar.
- Active clients, subscriptions and billing dates listed
- Contacts exported to CSV
- Programs saved as PDFs, one folder per client
- Payment reports downloaded
- Progress summary sent to key clients
- One-week pilot with one client
- First charge on the new tool set right after the last Trainerize charge
- Clients told before the switch
- Plan and every add-on canceled in Billing, screenshots kept
Trainerize alternatives: frequently asked questions
What's the best Trainerize alternative for a solo coach?
Everfit for most solo coaches: free up to 5 clients, Pro at $19 a month, and a free migration. If you'd rather not juggle add-ons, TrueCoach's Starter at $26.34 covers 5 clients all-in. Pick based on whether you sell nutrition (Everfit) or mostly program workouts (TrueCoach).
Is there a free alternative to Trainerize?
Yes. Everfit's Starter plan is free for up to 5 clients, versus one coached client on Trainerize Basic. It limits features, so treat it as a way to start, not to run a business on.
What's the cheapest Trainerize alternative at 50 clients?
My PT Hub Premium at 59 a month (currency not stated) with unlimited clients, then PT Distinction Master ($89.90 for 50 clients) and Everfit ($95 before add-ons). Kahunas comes in at $100 for 50 seats with no commission. Trainerize lands at $190 with payments and nutrition. Count only active clients: archived ones shouldn't cost you anything.
What do the alternatives cost at 20 clients?
From the official pricing pages: Everfit $49 a month (20-client tier, before add-ons), TrueCoach $57.99 (up to 20, all-in), My PT Hub 59 (unlimited), PT Distinction $59.90 (25 included), Harbiz €69 (30-client tier, before VAT) and Kahunas $100 (20 seats at $5). On Trainerize, 20 clients pushes you into the Pro 30 tier, plus add-ons. At this size, the gap mostly comes down to payment and nutrition add-ons.
How hard is it to migrate off Trainerize?
Contacts take minutes, programs take the time. They only leave as PDFs, so you either rebuild them, use Everfit's AI Workout Builder to convert PDFs, or ask Everfit's team to migrate for you. Freelancers on Fiverr and Upwork also rebuild programs: give them temporary collaborator access, never your login.
Will my clients' workout history come with me?
Not from Trainerize's own export. Workout logs, body stats and analytics stay behind. Everfit says its free migration brings history across: get that confirmed in writing before you cancel. Otherwise, send each client a progress summary before the switch.
How do I cancel Trainerize without getting charged again?
From the Billing section of your web account, not the mobile app. Cancel each add-on, then the plan, before your renewal date. The plan runs until the cycle ends, then drops to free. Screenshot every confirmation and email help@trainerize.com if a charge still shows up.
Can I keep my own Stripe account when I switch?
Yes, most tools on this page connect to your own Stripe account, and Kahunas also takes PayPal with zero commission. What needs care is timing: start the first charge on the new tool right after the last one on Trainerize. If you're moving away from Stripe itself, our guide to switching from Stripe walks through it.
Should I use Trainerize or gym management software?
Trainerize and its alternatives coach clients remotely. If you run a physical location with memberships, class schedules and door access, you need a different tool: our list of the best gym management software compares them. To track leads before they become clients, see our CRMs for coaches.
