Trustpilot alternatives: where to collect reviews next, and how to leave cleanly
Six platforms matched to your reason for leaving, an eight-step exit plan, and the contract traps to avoid.
The short answer: Google reviews (your Business Profile plus Google Customer Reviews) if you want to pay nothing, Judge.me if you sell on Shopify, REVIEWS.io if you want an independent third party with Google seller ratings for little money, Feefo if you're a UK business that wants a managed service, and Yotpo or Okendo for a high-volume store. The thing nobody tells you up front: your Trustpilot reviews don't move with you. They belong to the people who wrote them and stay on your profile after you cancel. We compared these six destinations, their prices and their terms in 2026.
The ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.
Why so many businesses walk away from Trustpilot
Trustpilot is still the review brand shoppers recognize, and its free plan is enough for plenty of small companies. People leave for other reasons: the shape of the contract, the renewal price, and a rule most only discover late, the one that says the reviews aren't yours. Here are the six that come up again and again, each checked against Trustpilot's own terms or against reports from business owners.
Priced per domain, paid a year ahead
Plus starts at $319 a month per domain and Premium at $799. Both are billed annually with twelve months prepaid. Run a .com and a .co.uk? Each one is billed separately. On Plus you get 300 invites a month, so a single store spends over $3,800 a year before it collects one review more than the free plan allows.
Auto-renewal with a 30-day notice window
Subscriptions renew automatically. To stop one, you have to cancel at least 30 days before the current term ends, by email or from your account settings. Miss that cutoff by a day and you're in for another year. On UK small business forums, this is a story that keeps coming up: the new invoice shows up after the deadline has passed.
Steep jumps at renewal
Several companies describe renewals that had little to do with the price they signed. One UK retailer reported a 74% increase year over year and said it simply wasn't feasible. Other user reviews describe renewals that arrived with a large price increase. These aren't typical, but the lesson holds: negotiate the renewal in writing, well before the date.
Your reviews stay on Trustpilot
Trustpilot's terms are blunt: reviews are owned by the people who wrote them. They stay public on your profile after your subscription ends, and even if you delete your business account. That cuts both ways. You can't erase a bad rating by leaving, and you can't take the good ones with you. REVIEWS.io will bring them over, but only if each customer re-verifies their review.
Displaying reviews runs through Trustpilot
On your website, you show your reviews through Trustpilot's widgets, on domains you've claimed. Copying them by hand into a page or an ad without permission counts as brand misuse, and the penalty can include losing your invitations and widgets. Using review content in advertising is reserved for paid plans. One shop owner put it plainly on a forum: "£3000 a year just to share reviews on our website is just not something we can do."
Moderation you don't control
Trustpilot removes a lot of reviews: its own figures put fake reviews taken down in 2024 at 4.5 million, or 7.4% of all reviews submitted. The flip side is genuine reviews held back while they're checked. A tradesperson described a real customer's review stuck in moderation until the customer proved the purchase. If your reputation rests on a few dozen reviews, every hold is visible.
You're leaving because… go to…
The right Trustpilot alternative depends on what you sell and where your customers read reviews. Usually one card fits. Each one jumps to the full write-up below.

Trustpilot alternatives, platform by platform
For each tool: why move there, who it's for, its limit, what happens to your Trustpilot reviews if you pick it, and what it costs. Prices are the ones each vendor shows in 2026, in the currency it bills in.
The tools
Google reviews: the free destination your customers already read
FreeWhy move to Google. Most of your customers read your reviews on Google, not on Trustpilot. Two free tools cover the core job. Your Business Profile collects reviews about the company: you ask through a link or a QR code and reply right from the profile. For an online store, Google Customer Reviews in Merchant Center sends a survey after each purchase and feeds your star ratings in Shopping and in ads.
Who it's for. Local businesses, trades, freelancers, and any online store that wants stars in Google ads without paying a middleman.
Who it's not for. A brand that wants a neutral review page people can read outside Google, or rich product reviews with photos on every product page.
The limit. Seller ratings in ads take time: most merchants get them after at least 100 eligible reviews collected over the last 24 months, and text ads need an average of 3.5 or higher. With Google Customer Reviews, you must offer the survey to every customer, no filtering. And Google bans rewards for reviews: a discount, a gift or a prize draw can get reviews removed and new ones blocked.
What happens to your Trustpilot reviews. They stay on your Trustpilot profile. Nothing moves them to Google, and you shouldn't paste them into your profile. You start from zero on Google, which is why you launch collection weeks before you switch Trustpilot off.

Judge.me: the Shopify option that costs next to nothing
Shopify storesWhy move to Judge.me. If your store runs on Shopify, Trustpilot mostly charges you for company reviews. Judge.me collects product and store reviews, unlimited, on its free plan. It also syncs your Google reviews and adds rich snippets, the stars that show under your link in search results.
Who it's for. Small and mid-size Shopify stores that want reviews under each product and a bill that doesn't grow with sales.
Who it's not for. A service business without a Shopify store, or a brand that wants a review page hosted by a name shoppers already know.
The limit. Google Shopping stars, AI features and thank-you coupons need the Awesome plan, $15 a month, billed every 30 days after a 15-day trial. Merchants rate it 5 out of 5 across nearly 50,000 reviews; the rare complaints mention reviews landing on the wrong product when a product URL changes, and product groups being a paid feature.
What happens to your Trustpilot reviews. Judge.me imports from Yotpo, Loox, Amazon or Etsy, but your Trustpilot reviews stay tied to their authors. The cleanest path: keep your Trustpilot profile on the free plan and collect new product reviews in Judge.me from day one.

REVIEWS.io: an independent third party, no year-long contract
Independent platformWhy move to REVIEWS.io. It's the closest thing to Trustpilot in spirit: a third-party platform with a public review page, company reviews and product reviews. The difference is the bill. The Shopify version starts free, then moves to $19 a month on Launch, which includes Google seller ratings and rich snippets. Launch Plus, at $45, adds NPS and an AI review summary.
Who it's for. Stores that want an outside seal on their reviews without signing twelve months prepaid.
Who it's not for. A local business that lives on Google Maps reviews: your Business Profile does more for less.
The limit. Invite quotas are tight at the low end: 25 a month free, 50 on Launch, 500 on Launch Plus. These prices come from the Shopify app listing. Off Shopify, ask for the price list before you sign.
What happens to your Trustpilot reviews. REVIEWS.io can import them, with a frank condition: because Trustpilot controls that review data, each customer has to re-verify their review before it's published, and only company reviews come over. Expect to recover part of them, and label them as imported, never as new.

Feefo: the managed option for UK businesses
UK businessesWhy move to Feefo. Feefo is a British review platform built around asking your own customers for feedback. It sends requests by email, WhatsApp and SMS, and it displays a Google partner badge on its pricing page. For a UK retailer or service firm leaving Trustpilot over price, it's the most direct like-for-like swap.
Who it's for. UK businesses with steady order volume that want a managed service, AI-drafted replies and seats for a small team.
Who it's not for. A US store or a tight budget: Feefo only lists prices in pounds, and the entry plan isn't cheap.
The limit. Essentials starts at £149 a month excluding VAT, with 200 email requests, 50 WhatsApp, 50 SMS, 3 seats and 10 widgets. Enhanced, from £299, raises the quotas and adds NPS and surveys. Plus is quote only and brings SSO, API export and multiple domains. Read the term and renewal clause before you sign: you're trading one contract for another.
What happens to your Trustpilot reviews. They stay on Trustpilot. Feefo starts from the customers you invite after you switch, so run both in parallel for a few weeks.

Yotpo: reviews plus loyalty for high-volume stores
Large storesWhy move to Yotpo. Yotpo ties product reviews, customer photos and a loyalty program into one suite. For a brand that sells a lot, it's a sales tool more than a review badge: reviews feed product pages, emails and stars in Google.
Who it's for. Online brands that already have volume and a team to work reviews, photos and loyalty together.
Who it's not for. A small store leaving Trustpilot over price: Yotpo's bill climbs with your orders.
The limit. A free plan covers reviews; loyalty starts at $199 a month. Seller ratings and large order volumes need the higher tiers, and in user comparisons the recurring complaint is short: it's expensive. User reviews cite price as a reason for moving to Judge.me or Okendo. Labs score: 4.1 out of 5.
What happens to your Trustpilot reviews. They don't come over: your company reviews stay on Trustpilot. Yotpo collects product reviews, a different category. Keep your Trustpilot profile on the free plan if customers still search for you there.

Okendo: rich reviews for growing Shopify brands
Shopify brandsWhy move to Okendo. Okendo targets Shopify brands that want detailed reviews: photos, video, product questions, and attributes like fit or use case. Google Shopping stars and seller ratings come as add-ons on some plans.
Who it's for. Fashion, beauty and technical product brands, where a review that says "runs small" or "survives the wash" closes the sale.
Who it's not for. A service business, or a new store that wants a free plan: there isn't one.
The limit. Pricing starts at $19 a month, then follows your monthly orders in tiers. Go past your tier and you top up credits. Run the math on your busiest month of the year, not an average one. Our Stamped review shows the same pricing model at a direct competitor. Labs score: 3.9 out of 5.
What happens to your Trustpilot reviews. Same rule as everywhere else: your company reviews stay on Trustpilot. Okendo starts collecting product reviews on new orders, and your product pages fill up as you sell.

Trustpilot and its 6 alternatives side by side
Our default pick: Google reviews for everyone, then Judge.me if you sell on Shopify and REVIEWS.io if you want an outside platform. For scale, one domain on Trustpilot Plus costs $319 a month, or $3,828 over the committed year. The same year runs $180 on Judge.me Awesome and $228 on REVIEWS.io Launch. One row per tool: the free plan on the left, the first paid tier and what to know coming from Trustpilot on the right.

Leaving Trustpilot in eight steps
Leaving Trustpilot doesn't involve a messy export. What matters is the order: contract first, new collection second, website last, so customers always see stars somewhere.
The steps
Find your term end date and your real cancellation deadline
FirstOpen your latest invoice or your account and write down when the current term ends. Subtract 30 days: that's your actual deadline. After it, the contract rolls over for a year.
Set two calendar reminders, one at two months out and one at six weeks. If you'd rather negotiate than leave, this is also your window.
- Notice
- 30 days before term end
- If missed
- another full year
Cancel in writing and keep the proof
CriticalCancel from the option in your account or by email to Trustpilot's cancellation address (cancellation@trustpilot.com). Ask for written confirmation with the end date and file it with your contract.
A sales call often follows. Listen to the offer if you like; only withdraw your cancellation against a new price in writing.
- Channel
- account or email
- Keep
- the dated confirmation
Start the new collection before you switch off the old one
Weeks 1 to 4While your contract runs, Trustpilot invites still go out. Use that time to switch on your destination in parallel: Google review requests, Google Customer Reviews, Judge.me or Feefo. Both run together for a few weeks, and new reviews pile up before the cutover.
Don't ask the same customer twice: stop Trustpilot invites on orders the new tool already covers.
- Goal
- no gap in your stars
Set up collection by Google's rules
Non-negotiableInvite every customer, not just the happy ones: filtering before asking is banned on Google, and Google Customer Reviews requires the survey to be offered to every buyer. No discounts, gifts or prize draws in exchange for reviews. Google can remove reviews, block new ones and put a warning on your profile.
- Banned
- filtering, incentives
Decide whether to bring old reviews over
OptionalOnly a tool like REVIEWS.io offers to import your Trustpilot company reviews, and each customer must re-verify theirs. Expect to recover only part of them. Every other tool starts from zero.
Never paste a Trustpilot review onto your site or into an ad by hand: it breaks Trustpilot's terms, and an imported review shouldn't pass for one the new tool verified.
- Possible import
- company reviews, re-verified
Replace Trustpilot widgets across your site
Cutover dayWhen your paid plan stops, the paid-only widgets stop working as before. List every place that carries one: home page, product pages, cart, footer, emails. Replace each with the destination's widget, or remove it.
Check your ads and landing pages too: a creative with your Trustpilot score has no place there once the paid plan is over.
- Check
- pages, emails, ads
Watch your Google stars through the transition
Months 1 to 6Seller ratings in Google ads are calculated from eligible reviews over the past 24 months, coming from Google Customer Reviews, partner sites or Google users. If your count falls below the roughly 100-review threshold, the stars can drop off your ads.
Check your review count monthly in Merchant Center. If it slips, step up requests before you change anything else.
- Threshold
- about 100 reviews in 24 months
- Minimum rating
- 3.5 for text ads
Explain how you collect and check reviews
On your siteIf you display reviews yourself, add a short page that says where they come from, how you invite customers, how you moderate and when each review was posted. Link to it under your review widget. Shoppers trust a 4.6 they can trace more than a 5 they can't.
Keep your Trustpilot profile on the free plan and keep replying there: it stays public, and future customers still read it.

What makes a Trustpilot exit go wrong
None of these is technical. They're calendar mistakes or contract misreadings, and each one costs months of subscription or stars you worked for.
Cancelling on day 29
Renewal hinges on 30 days' notice. One day late and you pay another year, with no way back. Write the date down today, even if you plan to leave ten months from now.
Switching off before you have reviews elsewhere
Stop Trustpilot before the destination has collected anything and your site shows an empty widget, while your ads may lose their stars. Run both in parallel for a few weeks.
Assuming your reviews will follow you
They won't. They stay public on your Trustpilot profile and belong to their authors. Importing into REVIEWS.io depends on a re-verification many customers will skip. Plan as if you were starting from scratch.
Copying reviews onto your site
The number one temptation: pasting your best Trustpilot reviews into a page. Trustpilot's terms forbid it outside their widgets, and the penalty hits your invites and display. Show the new reviews your destination collects instead.
Only asking happy customers
Switching tools makes you want a fresh, perfect score. Filtering customers before asking is banned on Google, and so are incentives. An honest 4.6 persuades more than a flawless 5 that reads as fake.
Comparing prices that count different things
Trustpilot bills per domain, Yotpo and Okendo by order volume, Feefo by request quotas, Judge.me at a flat rate. Compare on your actual setup: number of domains, orders in your busiest month, requests per month. Our review management software ranking lists the tiers for each tool, and our Stamped alternatives page compares product review apps for Shopify.
- Term end date written down, 30-day cancellation deadline worked out
- Cancellation sent in writing, dated confirmation filed
- New collection live before the paid plan ends
- Every customer invited, no incentives for reviews
- Decision made on importing old reviews, no manual copying
- Trustpilot widgets replaced on site, emails and ads

Trustpilot alternatives: frequently asked questions
What is the best free alternative to Trustpilot?
Google reviews, for almost everyone: your Business Profile and Google Customer Reviews cost nothing, and that's where customers read. On Shopify, Judge.me's free plan adds unlimited product reviews. REVIEWS.io also has a free plan, capped at 25 invites a month.
Can I take my Trustpilot reviews with me?
Not really. They belong to their authors and stay on your profile. REVIEWS.io will import your company reviews if each customer re-verifies theirs. Expect a fraction to come over, and keep your Trustpilot profile live for the rest.
How do I cancel a Trustpilot subscription?
From the cancellation option in your account, or by emailing cancellation@trustpilot.com, at least 30 days before your current term ends. The free plan has no fees and no commitment. Get written confirmation: it's your only proof if another invoice arrives.
Can I delete my Trustpilot business page?
You can close your business account, but the reviews stay public. Trustpilot's terms say so even after your subscription ends or you delete the account, unless a review is removed by its author or for breaking the rules. Keeping the profile and replying to reviews beats abandoning it.
Are Google reviews enough without a third-party platform?
For a local business, often yes. For an online store, they cover most needs once you turn on Google Customer Reviews in Merchant Center. A third-party platform still helps if you want product reviews on your pages or a review page people can read outside Google.
How do I get stars in Google Ads and Shopping without Trustpilot?
Turn on Google Customer Reviews, which is free, or use a tool that sends reviews to Google: REVIEWS.io from Launch, Judge.me from Awesome for Shopping. Ad stars usually appear after about 100 eligible reviews in 24 months. For post-purchase follow-ups on Shopify, see our page on email marketing for Shopify.
Feefo or Trustpilot: which is better for a UK business?
Feefo if you want email, WhatsApp and SMS requests and a managed service; Trustpilot if public brand recognition matters most to you. Feefo Essentials starts at £149 a month excluding VAT, Trustpilot Plus at $319 a month per domain in the US price list. Compare the contract terms, not just the monthly figure.
How much does Trustpilot really cost?
Free with 50 invites a month, then from $319 a month per domain on Plus, $799 on Premium, and Enterprise on quote. Everything is billed annually with twelve months prepaid. Two domains on Plus come to $7,656 a year before any negotiation.
