Vajro alternatives: where to go now that it's Superfans

Six Shopify app builders broken down, one pick per reason to leave, and a switch plan that keeps your existing app.

The short answer: Shopney if you want what Vajro used to be for $149 a month, with unlimited push on the entry plan. Tapcart if you're an established DTC brand and want the most clearly documented migration. Plobal Apps if you'd rather pay a 3% share of app sales than a fixed fee. Hulk and MageNative for tight budgets, Shopaliz for the lowest flat fee. One thing matters more than the tool: if your Apple Developer and Google Play accounts are in your company's name, the new builder ships an update to the same app, and your ratings stay put. We compared the six options in this guide and pulled their prices in 2026.

The ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.

What changed

Why Shopify stores are leaving Vajro

For years, Vajro was the go-to app builder for small and mid-size Shopify stores. It was highly rated on the Shopify App Store, and plenty of reviewers praised its support. Then the name, the target customer and the price all changed. Six reasons keep coming up.

One plan, $1,000 a month

The old lineup started at $99 a month (Startup), then $199 (Growth) and $399 (Power Premium). Superfans now lists a single "Unlimited" plan at $1,000 a month for every revenue band, plus a custom Enterprise tier. If you were on the entry plan, that's a 10x jump.

The Shopify listing is unavailable

The app's listing, now called "Superfans ‑ Mobile App Builder", showed "This app is not currently available on the Shopify App Store" at the time of checking. Nobody outside the company knows whether that's temporary. In practice, you can't install it on a new store, and you have no read on what comes next.

A pivot to loyalty for Shopify Plus brands

Superfans pitches itself as a loyalty and community app, "Built for" Shopify Plus: a community feed (still in BETA), shoppable UGC, daily games, quizzes and app-only drops. Live selling, once a big Vajro selling point, no longer appears on the pricing page. If you just need a clean shopping app, you'd be paying for features you won't use.

Costs that climbed with your orders

Even before the single plan, merchants complained about volume-based tiers. One Shopify App Store review: "the cost automatically jumps to $500 per month once you reach a certain number of orders". Another was titled "Beware of Hidden Costs – Expensive and Lacking Transparency". The new plan at least drops that: no success fees, no percentage of app revenue, no paid "premium" blocks.

Slow support, stalled updates

Negative reviews tend to sound alike: "Very delayed response on support queries. Need to wait for days to get a reply." or "Once they start charing you monthly. They disappear. No more updates." (Shopify App Store reviews). They're a minority next to the overall rating, but they come from the stores that leave.

Apps published under the wrong account

Some merchants found out too late that their app went live under a personal Apple account: "It still says my personal name on the app." Others couldn't publish under their own account at all. Check this first. It decides whether your app and its reviews come with you.

6 alternatives

The best Vajro alternatives, tool by tool

For each tool: why switch to it, who it's for, its catch, how to move over from Vajro, and what it costs. Prices are in US dollars, before tax, billed through Shopify. On top of any plan, budget $99 a year for an Apple Developer account and a one-time $25 for Google Play.

01

Shopney: the Vajro you remember, for $149

Best value

Why switch to Shopney. It's the closest thing to old-school Vajro: native iOS and Android shopping apps for Shopify, with unlimited push notifications from the $149 Silver plan. Compared with $1,000 at Superfans, you keep $851 a month, or $10,212 a year. Its Shopify listing shows 5.0 from 774 reviews, 759 of them five stars.

Who it's for. Shopify stores of any size that want a straight shopping app without community features.

Who it's not for. Anyone off Shopify. That's the only platform it serves.

The catch. The features that drive revenue sit higher up: abandoned cart push starts on Gold ($299), segmented and AI-driven push on Platinum ($599). Price the plan that covers what you actually use.

How to switch. Install it during the 30-day trial, rebuild your home screen, then ask support to ship an update to your existing app rather than a new listing. Keep Vajro running until Apple and Google approve it.

Tapcart: for brands that stayed for the premium feel

Clearest migration

Why switch to Tapcart. If you kept Superfans for its brand-first approach, Tapcart is the nearest match, and it spells the migration out: "Tapcart publishes app updates using your existing app's Bundle ID (iOS) and Package Name (Android)." Your store listing, ratings and reviews are preserved, and push subscribers stay as long as the app certificates don't change.

Who it's for. Established DTC brands on Shopify with a marketing team that will run the app every week.

Who it's not for. A small store running from $1,000 a month. Tapcart starts at half that.

The catch. Price. Growth is $500 a month, Scale $1,250, Enterprise+ from $2,850, and the AI add-on is another $250 a month. Every plan includes both iOS and Android apps and unlimited push.

How to switch. Give Tapcart Admin access to your Apple Developer account. On Android, plan for an extra step: you may need to reset your app upload key.

Plobal Apps: start with no monthly fee

No subscription

Why switch to Plobal. The Starter plan has no monthly fee: Plobal takes 3% of in-app sales instead. While your app sells little, it's the cheapest option here. Every plan ships native iOS and Android apps with unlimited push. Shopify rating: 4.8 from 148 reviews.

Who it's for. Stores that want to see whether customers actually use an app before committing to a subscription.

Who it's not for. Stores whose app already drives real revenue. The revenue share overtakes a flat fee fast.

The catch. Do the math: 3% is $30 per $1,000 of app sales. Past roughly $6,600 a month in app sales, the $199 Growth plan ($1,990 a year) costs less. Starter connects only 2 integrations, Apple Pay and segmented push wait for Essential ($499), and Enterprise ($1,199) brings back a 1% share.

How to switch. The 30-day trial covers paid plans only. Ask Plobal to publish to your current developer account and app ID so you keep your listing.

Hulk Mobile App Builder: two months to decide

Longest trial

Why switch to Hulk. A 60-day free trial, twice what most others give, and a $79 Basic plan ($790 a year). That's enough time to rebuild your app and see whether customers stick with it before you pay. Native iOS and Android, no code. Shopify rating: 4.7 from 76 reviews.

Who it's for. Smaller stores that want to switch without rushing.

Who it's not for. Stores that send several pushes a week. Basic caps you at 30.

The catch. Unlimited and scheduled push start on Pro at $149 a month ($1,490 a year), and Pro+ is $249. The listing warns that HulkApps may bill some charges outside your Shopify invoice, and one 1-star review describes being billed after canceling. Check your Shopify invoice the month after.

How to switch. Start the trial, rebuild, and only shut Vajro off once the update is live on both stores.

MageNative: old Vajro pricing, if you read the limits

Tight budget

Why switch to MageNative. It's back to old Vajro Startup pricing: $99 a month for a native iOS and Android app. Shopify rating: 4.8 from 336 reviews.

Who it's for. Small stores that want a branded app and don't lean on push.

Who it's not for. Stores that live on push. At $99, you get 5.

The catch. That's the trap on Starter: "5 Push Notifications". Unlimited and segmented push need Premium at $249 a month. Standard sits at $149. Billed yearly, the three plans come to $1,069.20, $1,519.80 and $2,539.80.

How to switch. Use the 30-day trial to rebuild, then ask for an update to your existing app. If push is your main channel, put Premium at $249 next to Shopney at $149 before you decide.

Shopaliz: the lowest fixed price, publishing included

Lowest fixed price

Why switch to Shopaliz. At $69 a month before tax ($690 a year), its Starter plan is the cheapest fixed price here with unlimited push. App Store and Google Play publishing is included on every paid plan. It comes from a young French company, Shopaliz SAS.

Who it's for. Small stores that want unlimited push at the lowest flat price.

Who it's not for. Brands that want a vendor with a long track record across hundreds of stores.

The catch. It's new. Its Shopify listing has just 2 reviews (5.0), so there's little to go on. The free plan lets you build and preview, not publish. Silver is $99, Gold $229.

How to switch. The 30-day trial covers Starter and Silver. Before you sign, ask whether Shopaliz can publish to your existing developer account.

Vajro vs its 6 alternatives, side by side

Our default pick: Shopney for a full shopping app at a normal price, Tapcart if budget isn't the issue. Your real first-year cost is twelve months of subscription plus $124 in developer accounts ($99 Apple, $25 Google). At Superfans that's $12,124. On Shopney Silver, $1,912. On Hulk Basic paid yearly, $914. If you're choosing outside a migration, our ranking of the best ecommerce mobile app builders scores these tools on more criteria.

Switch builders without losing your app, in six steps

Order matters. Each step protects something: ownership of your app, your reviews, your push subscribers and your bill.

01

Check who owns your Apple and Google accounts

Before anything

Open App Store Connect and the Google Play Console and look at who holds the account that publishes your app. If it's your company, you're set. If it's Vajro or a personal account, transfer the app to your own account first.

On Apple, the Account Holder starts the transfer, and the app keeps its reviews, ratings and Bundle ID. On Google Play, a transfer carries over users, statistics, reviews and ratings at no cost ($25 if you need a new account).

Cost
$99/yr Apple, $25 once Google
If you skip it
new app, reviews gone
02

List everything your app does today

Day 1

Write down every screen, home page block, automated push campaign (abandoned cart, back in stock), segment, integration (Klaviyo, product reviews, loyalty) and app-only feature (drops, quizzes). A screenshot per screen is enough.

You'll use that list twice: to pick the right plan at your new builder (abandoned cart and segmentation often sit on a higher tier) and to check nothing's missing on switch day.

Time
half a day
If you skip it
a lost cart flow
03

Export segments and campaigns before you cancel

Before canceling

Pull everything you can out of Vajro: customer segments, campaign history, the push copy that worked, your creative. Don't count on an automatic import from one tool to another. You'll rebuild, and you rebuild faster with your best messages at hand.

an hour
Keep
campaign copy and creative
04

Rebuild the app during the trial

Week 1

Start the trial (30 days at most builders, 60 at Hulk), rebuild your home screen and pages from your list, and preview the app on your phone. Product data comes straight from Shopify, so there's nothing to re-import there.

Run your first-year cost now: twelve months of subscription, plus $99 Apple and $25 Google, plus any revenue share (3% on Plobal Starter).

Time
a few days
Cost
none during the trial
05

Ship an update, not a new app

Week 2

Ask your new builder to publish to your current app identifiers: the Bundle ID on iOS, the Package Name on Android. Customers get an update, and the app keeps its listing, reviews and downloads. A new app would start from zero reviews.

On Android, there's one more step: you may need to reset the upload key with Google. Wait for Apple and Google review before you turn anything off.

Time
depends on store review
If you skip it
duplicate app, zero reviews
06

Keep your push subscribers, then cancel cleanly

Last step

Push subscribers carry over as long as the app's certificates (the APNs key on Apple) stay the same. If your new builder needs new ones, some customers will have to opt in again. Plan a welcome campaign that gives them a reason to.

Once the update is live on both stores, uninstall Vajro from your Shopify admin, then open Settings, then Billing to make sure no charge keeps running. Superfans has no lock-in period, so you can stop whenever you want.

Migration pitfalls

What makes a Vajro switch go wrong

The same mistakes show up in merchant reviews and in vendors' own migration guides. None of them is technical. They're oversights, and each one costs more than the time it would have taken to avoid it.

Launching a new app instead of an update

The most expensive mistake. A new app starts at zero reviews and zero downloads, while customers keep the old one on their phones and never get another update. Insist on publishing to your existing Bundle ID and Package Name.

Finding out the account isn't yours

If the app went live under the vendor's account or your personal name, nothing moves until the transfer is done. Check the account holder on day one, not the day before you cancel.

Changing certificates without warning customers

New push certificates, and part of your subscriber base quietly disappears. If you can't avoid it, give people a clear reason to opt back in, such as an app-only perk.

Comparing entry prices instead of limits

The gap between $79 at Hulk and $149 at Shopney shrinks fast if you need Hulk Pro to get unlimited push. Price the plan that covers your inventory, not the cheapest one.

Forgetting the revenue share

A free plan with a 3% cut looks unbeatable until your app starts selling. Rerun the numbers after three months on real sales and switch plans if you need to.

Turning Vajro off before store approval

Until Apple and Google approve the update, the old version has to keep working. Cancel after that, then check your Shopify invoice: merchants report charges after uninstalling an app.

  • Apple Developer and Google Play account holder confirmed
  • Screens, campaigns, segments and integrations listed
  • Segments, push copy and creative exported
  • Plan picked on push needs, not entry price
  • Update published to the existing Bundle ID and Package Name
  • Push certificates kept, or an opt-in campaign ready
  • Vajro uninstalled after approval, Shopify invoice checked
FAQ · 8 questions

Vajro alternatives: frequently asked questions

  • Is Vajro still around?

Yes, under a new name. vajro.com redirects to Superfans.io, which positions itself as a loyalty and community app for Shopify brands. Its listing, renamed "Superfans ‑ Mobile App Builder", was unavailable on the Shopify App Store at the time of checking. If you already use it, your app keeps running, but there's no sign of when or whether the listing returns.

  • How much does Superfans (formerly Vajro) cost?

$1,000 a month. That's the only public plan, "Unlimited", shown for every store size, with a custom-quoted Enterprise tier above it. In exchange, there are no success fees, no percentage of app revenue and no paid "premium" blocks. The $99, $199 and $399 prices you still see in older roundups no longer apply.

  • Will I lose my App Store reviews and downloads?

No, if two things hold. Your Apple Developer and Google Play accounts must be in your name, and the new builder must publish an update to the same Bundle ID (iOS) and Package Name (Android). The app then keeps its listing, ratings and reviews. If the vendor owns the accounts, an app transfer on Apple and Google also preserves reviews.

  • Do my push notification subscribers come with me?

Yes, as long as the app certificates stay the same. Tapcart states that condition in its migration guide, and it applies whichever builder you pick. If your new builder has to issue new certificates, some customers will need to opt in again. Get the answer in writing before you sign.

  • What's the cheapest Vajro alternative?

Plobal Apps, with its no-fee Starter plan: you pay 3% of in-app sales. On a flat fee, Shopaliz starts at $69 before tax, Hulk at $79 and MageNative at $99 a month. Watch the push caps: 30 on Hulk Basic, 5 on MageNative Starter. Shopaliz already gives you unlimited push at $69, but on just 2 reviews. Shopney at $149 (5.0 from 774 reviews) is the most proven unlimited option.

  • Tapcart or Shopney: which one replaces Vajro better?

Shopney for most stores, Tapcart for established brands. Shopney gives you unlimited push at $149 a month, Tapcart starts at $500 with a documented migration that keeps your reviews and push subscribers. If your app is a core revenue channel run by a dedicated team, Tapcart's price can make sense. Otherwise, the $351 monthly gap buys a lot of marketing.

  • Should I cancel Vajro right away?

No. Cancel once Apple and Google have approved your app update, or customers end up with an app that stops working. Superfans has no lock-in period, so you can stop the same day. After uninstalling, check billing in your Shopify settings the following month.

  • Can I stay on mobile without paying for an app?

Yes, through Shopify's Shop app, which is free with no marketplace fees. But it isn't an app under your brand: your store shows up next to every other brand in it. It's a stopgap, not a Vajro replacement.
