Which mobile app builder should you use for your online store in 2026?
The right builder mirrors your catalog, cart and customer accounts, keeps them in sync, and lets you send push notifications without paying per send.
You already run a store on Shopify or WooCommerce, and a good share of your repeat buyers shop from their phone. A branded app puts your icon on their home screen and gives you push notifications, a channel you own and don't pay for per message. You don't need a dev team for that. These builders read your existing store and ship it as a native iOS and Android app.
The short answer. Shopney is our top pick for most Shopify brands: $149 a month, unlimited push from the first plan, 774 merchant reviews averaging 5.0. AppMySite is the affordable route for WooCommerce, with iPhone and Android from $99 a month billed yearly. Plobal Apps lets you start at $0 and pay 3% of in-app sales. Tapcart is the heavyweight for established DTC brands, from $500 a month. Appbrew is the design-forward middle ground at $199 plus usage fees.
What most "best Shopify app builder" lists skip: the sticker price is not the bill. Add $99 a year for Apple's developer program, a one-time $25 for Google Play, and in some cases a cut of every sale made in the app. Building an app from scratch rather than converting a store? That's a different job, covered in our AI app builder ranking.
The ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.

8 ecommerce mobile app builders compared
This ranking is for merchants who already sell online and want a native app for repeat customers. It doesn't cover general-purpose app builders. Scores factor in twelve months of real cost, including any revenue share.

How we compared and scored
This page is for merchants who already have a store. The job isn't designing an app from a blank canvas. It's mirroring your catalog, cart and customer accounts into an app that clears Apple and Google review, then keeping everything synced without double entry.
We read each vendor's official pricing page or Shopify App Store listing, then merchant reviews, with extra weight on one- to three-star reviews, and merchant threads in the Shopify Community. We compared the tools without opening accounts with them. None of these builders has a review page on our site yet, so the scores are set here.
Weights follow what hurts most when you pick wrong. Features weigh most, because an app without segmented push or cart recovery barely pays for itself. Value comes next, measured over twelve months including revenue share. Platform coverage matters too: a Shopify-only builder is useless on WooCommerce.
- Features and depthUnlimited and segmented push, cart recovery, multi-currency, loyalty and reviews.30%
- Value for moneyTwelve months of subscription plus any cut of in-app sales.25%

App builder pricing moves more often than you'd think. Get a heads-up when it does
Shopney
Shopney has the strongest reputation in the category: 5.0 out of 5 across 774 Shopify App Store reviews, with zero one-star reviews. Take that with a grain of salt. 759 of those reviews are five stars, and app store ratings in this niche skew high because merchants often review right after install. Read the three-star reviews before you commit.
Silver costs $149 a month and already includes unlimited push notifications, which isn't true everywhere (MageNative caps its entry plan at five). Gold at $299 adds abandoned cart recovery plus multi-language and multi-currency support. Platinum at $599 connects Klaviyo, Rebuy and Nosto and unlocks segmented push. Enterprise at $1,299 handles multiple storefronts.
The catch: Shopney is Shopify only, and the features that move revenue (cart recovery, segmentation) start at Gold and Platinum. If you sell in more than one currency, budget $299 a month, not $149. Already running email flows? Our guide to email marketing for Shopify helps you pick the tool that will feed your app audiences.
- Unlimited push from Silver
- Cart recovery and multi-currency from Gold
- Klaviyo, Rebuy, Nosto on Platinum
- ✓5.0 stars across 774 reviews
- ✓30-day trial
- ✓Four clear plans
- ✗Shopify only
- ✗Cart recovery starts at $299
- ✗Segmented push needs Platinum
The default pick for a Shopify brand that wants a full app on a predictable subscription. If you're spending under $100 a month and want the leanest plan, look at Plobal's free tier instead.
AppMySite
AppMySite is one of very few builders with public pricing that treats WooCommerce as a first-class platform, with the same price grid for Shopify. Most US lists ignore WooCommerce entirely, which is why it ranks this high here. It takes no revenue share, and push is unlimited on every plan.
Read the plans carefully. The free plan only builds an Android app, with AppMySite branding. Starter ($69 a month, or $49 billed yearly) is still Android only. iPhone support starts at Pro: $129 a month, or $99 yearly. Premium ($249, or $199 yearly) adds assisted publishing, advanced push, analytics and offline mode. There's also a lifetime license from $1,999 to $5,999.
The trade-offs are well documented. Below Premium, you publish to the stores yourself, and the done-for-you upload service is sold separately. You open your own Apple and Google accounts. One app per subscription, and subscriptions are non-refundable. Its Trustpilot score sits at 4.3 across about 300 reviews, but 18% are one-star: slow builds, a support chat that feels bot-only, AppMySite branding that lingers, store rejections. Other reviewers credit support for getting them through submission.
- Same pricing for WooCommerce and Shopify
- 0% revenue share
- Lifetime license option
- ✓Cheapest iPhone option on WooCommerce
- ✓Unlimited push on all plans
- ✓Free Android plan to try it
- ✗No iPhone app on Starter
- ✗Manual store publishing below Premium
- ✗18% one-star reviews
The obvious pick on WooCommerce, as long as you buy Pro, not Starter. If you'd rather hand everything to a team and have the budget, Appmaker also supports WooCommerce as a managed service.
Plobal Apps
Plobal Apps does something most rivals won't: a free Starter plan paid for by 3% of in-app sales, with unlimited push and two integrations included. It's the lowest-risk way to find out whether your customers want an app at all.
Do the math early. At 3%, the free plan costs as much as Growth ($199 a month) once in-app sales pass $6,633 a month. At $50,000 a month, you'd pay $1,500, more than seven times Growth. Growth is $1,990 billed yearly; Essential is $499 a month and is where Apple Pay and segmented push come in. Enterprise at $1,199 brings the percentage back at 1%.
On the Shopify App Store, Plobal holds 4.8 across 148 reviews. Critical reviews tend to describe a rocky onboarding that support later fixed. Give yourself a few weeks of buffer before a launch date, especially ahead of Black Friday.
- Free plan with unlimited push
- Yearly billing saves about two months
- Apple Pay from Essential
- ✓Zero upfront risk
- ✓30-day trial on paid plans
- ✓Support that recovers rough starts
- ✗3% of sales on Starter
- ✗Apple Pay and segments at $499
- ✗1% revenue share even on Enterprise
The smartest way to test demand. Upgrade to Growth as soon as in-app sales clear about $6,600 a month, or the percentage will cost more than the subscription.
Tapcart
Tapcart is the name every Shopify agency drops, and the pricing matches: $500 a month for Growth, $1,250 for Scale, $2,850 and up for Enterprise+. Roundups quoting $200 or $250 a month are out of date. AI add-ons (AI-written push, Autopilot, Scenes, video) are $250 a month each on top.
Here's what you get: iOS and Android on every plan, unlimited push, and a specialist who submits the app for you. Tapcart can also migrate an existing app and keep your push subscribers, which matters if you're switching builders. Apple and Google accounts are managed with you but still required, and Apple asks for a registered company with a D-U-N-S number.
The downsides: Growth includes a single team seat, and the entry price rules out small stores. It rates 4.7 across 338 Shopify reviews. One-star reviews mention an app published with old screenshots, a product-sorting bug past the 24th item, and trouble canceling a $1,000-a-month contract. Read the cancellation terms before you sign.
- Specialist-led store submission
- Migration that keeps push subscribers
- iOS and Android on every plan
- ✓Deepest feature set in this ranking
- ✓Unlimited push
- ✓4.7 stars across 338 reviews
- ✗$500/month minimum
- ✗One team seat on Growth
- ✗Cancellation complaints in reviews
Worth it for brands that can justify $6,000 a year. Below that volume, Shopney covers the essentials for under a third of the price.
Shopaliz
Shopaliz is a small French builder that many US lists overlook. It's the cheapest Shopify option in this ranking: Starter is $69 a month and already includes unlimited push plus publishing to both the App Store and Google Play. You can build and preview your app for free before paying anything.
Silver at $99 adds scheduled push, and Gold goes to $229. Billing runs through your Shopify invoice in dollars. Support is strongest in French, which is a plus for European stores and something to check if your team only works in English.
The limit: integrations are lighter than Shopney's or Tapcart's (loyalty, product recommendations), and it only works with Shopify. For a store just starting with an app, that rarely matters. For a brand that lives in Klaviyo segments, it does.
- Publishing to both stores included
- Free preview before paying
- Unlimited push from Starter
- ✓Lowest price among Shopify builders ranked
- ✓30-day trial
- ✓Simple plans
- ✗Shopify only
- ✗Fewer integrations
- ✗Support mainly in French
A strong budget pick for a small Shopify store. Once you need cart recovery and segmentation, Shopney is the step up.
MageNative
MageNative keeps it simple: Starter $99 a month, Standard $149, Premium $249, with 10 to 15% off for yearly billing. Its Shopify listing shows 4.8 across 336 reviews, including 11 one-star reviews, a more believable spread than some rivals.
The trap is the entry plan. Starter allows only 5 push notifications, and push is the main reason to have an app. Unlimited, segmented push needs Premium at $249. At that price, Shopney Silver ($149) already gives unlimited push and Gold ($299) adds cart recovery.
MageNative still makes sense if you prefer its templates or if the yearly discount closes the gap. Use the 30-day trial to see how your catalog renders.
- Three clear plans
- 10 to 15% off yearly
- 4.8 across 336 reviews
- ✓Reasonable entry price
- ✓30-day trial
- ✓Few negative reviews
- ✗Only 5 pushes on Starter
- ✗Unlimited push at $249
- ✗Shopify only
Fine if you go Premium on a yearly plan. For the same money, Shopney gives you more retention tools.
Appbrew
Appbrew is one of the best-rated builders on the Shopify App Store: 5.0 out of 5 across 76 reviews, all five stars. Treat that as a weak signal. 76 reviews is a small sample, and with no critical reviews you can't see where it struggles. Unlimited push starts on Starter.
Pricing needs a closer look. Starter is $199 a month and Pro $599, and both add usage fees the listing doesn't quantify upfront. Enterprise starts at $1,099. Ask for a written estimate of usage fees at your order volume before you sign.
Against Tapcart, Appbrew wins on entry price with a similar brand-first approach. Against Shopney, it costs more to start and is less predictable.
- 5.0 across 76 reviews
- Unlimited push from Starter
- 30-day trial
- ✓Cheaper than Tapcart to start
- ✓Built for brand-conscious stores
- ✓Enterprise tier to grow into
- ✗Usage fees not quantified
- ✗Small review sample
- ✗Shopify only
A solid Tapcart alternative for brands that want polish without a $500 floor. Get usage fees in writing first.
Appmaker
Appmaker works with Shopify and with WooCommerce through an official plugin. That's its edge: very few high-end builders take WooCommerce seriously. The price is the highest entry point in this ranking.
Growth is $999 a month plus 0.5% of in-app sales; Enterprise starts at $2,000 plus 0.3%. One-time development fees come on top, with no public figure. Push is unlimited. At $50,000 a month in app sales, Growth works out to about $1,249 a month before setup fees. Lists that mention a free plan with commission are outdated.
The limit: the budget reserves it for stores that are already big, and its Shopify listing is thin (4.4 across 32 reviews). Get the development fee in a written quote before comparing.
- Official WooCommerce plugin
- Vendor-managed build
- Unlimited push
- ✓Covers WooCommerce and Shopify
- ✓Low percentage on Enterprise
- ✓Nothing to build yourself
- ✗$999/month minimum
- ✗0.5% of sales on top
- ✗Setup fees not published
For large WooCommerce stores that want it fully handled. On a tighter WooCommerce budget, AppMySite Pro does the job for a fraction of the cost.
What a store app really costs in year one
Twelve months of subscription, Apple's developer program ($99 a year), Google Play ($25 one time), and any revenue share. Three scenarios at list price, before tax, with your own developer accounts.
Small Shopify store testing the idea
Plobal Starter: $124 for Apple and Google, plus 3% of app sales. At $2,000 a month in app orders, that's $60 a month. Shopaliz Starter: $69 x 12 + $124 = $952. Shopney Silver: $1,788 + $124 = $1,912. Start on Plobal, and move once the numbers prove out.
WooCommerce store
AppMySite Pro billed yearly: $99 x 12 = $1,188, plus $124, so $1,312 for iPhone and Android. Starter at $49 saves money but ships Android only, leaving your iPhone shoppers out. Appmaker starts at $11,988 a year before development fees and revenue share.
Brand doing $50,000 a month in app sales
Tapcart Growth: $6,000 a year in subscription. Plobal Growth: $1,990 yearly. Plobal Starter at 3% would cost $18,000 over the year, the trap to avoid. Appmaker Growth: $999 + $250 a month, roughly $15,000 a year before setup. At this scale, revenue share matters more than the subscription.
- Your plan ships an iPhone app, not just Android
- Push notifications are unlimited on your plan
- Revenue share is in your twelve-month math
- Apple and Google accounts are in your company's name
- Cart recovery and multi-currency are on your plan if you need them
Other options worth knowing
These names show up in every search. They're not ranked because they don't truly convert an existing store, or because we couldn't read a full official price list.
Other options
Superfans.io: Vajro's new name and a single plan
CommunityVajro rebranded: its site now redirects to Superfans.io, and the Vajro app is no longer available on the Shopify App Store. The new offer is one plan, Unlimited, at $1,000 a month regardless of revenue, with no success fees or revenue share and no lock-in. It focuses on community, user content and gamification with Klaviyo. Lists still showing Vajro at $49 or $99 a month are stale. Not ranked because the pricing page doesn't state platform coverage or setup fees.

GoodBarber: a store inside the app, not a copy of yours
Separate storeGoodBarber sells an eCommerce plan from $50 to $380 a month ($40 to $290 yearly) with hosting, push and payments included, plus a 30-day trial with no card. But your catalog lives inside GoodBarber, and linking it to Shopify or WooCommerce goes through Zapier or third-party connectors. Good for starting a mobile store, not for converting the one you run.

The official WooCommerce app: a common mix-up
Mix-upWooCommerce has its own free mobile app, but it's for running your store: orders, inventory, stats. Your customers never see it. Plenty of merchants find it while searching for a WooCommerce shopping app and lose time. To sell through an app, you need a builder like AppMySite or Appmaker.

Tips
Check that the entry plan ships to iPhone
TrapAppMySite's free and Starter plans build Android only; iPhone starts at Pro. MageNative Starter allows just 5 push notifications. The headline price often hides the plan you actually need. Always compare the first plan with iPhone, Android and unlimited push.

- iPhone from Pro
Run the revenue-share math
CostA free plan paid by percentage quickly turns into the priciest option. At Plobal, 3% of sales matches Growth's $199 once in-app sales pass $6,633 a month. At Appmaker, 0.5% sits on top of the subscription. Pull your current mobile sales from Shopify or WooCommerce and apply the percentage before choosing.
- Plobal break-even
- $6,633 in monthly app sales
Put the Apple account in your company's name
OwnershipApple requires a D-U-N-S number for an organization account. It's free in most countries but takes time, so request it before you pick a builder. If the account is yours, the app and its ratings stay with you when you switch vendors. Tapcart can migrate an existing app and keep push subscribers.

- Google Play
- $25 one time
Avoid Apple's "minimum functionality" rejection
PublishingApple regularly rejects apps that just display a website, under guideline 4.2. Builders that rebuild a native cart, native screens and push clear review more easily than those wrapping your web pages. Before submitting, turn on push, search and customer login at minimum.
- Apple guideline
- 4.2, minimum functionality
Read the one- to three-star reviews
ChoosingOn the Shopify App Store, most builders sit between 4.7 and 5.0. Shopney has 759 five-star reviews out of 774. Those averages tell you little. The negative reviews show the real issues: slow publishing, hard cancellations, bot-only support. Filter for them before every demo.
- Read first
- 1 to 3 star reviews
An app retains customers, it doesn't find them
StrategyNobody downloads the app of a store they've never bought from. An app brings back existing buyers through push, which costs nothing per send, unlike SMS. Without a base of repeat customers, a fast mobile site or an installable web app (PWA) is enough. Still choosing your platform? Start with our ecommerce platform ranking.

Your questions about ecommerce apps
How much does it cost to build an ecommerce app?
Between $952 and $6,124 in year one for most stores using a builder from this ranking, Apple and Google fees included. The low end is Shopaliz Starter, the high end Tapcart Growth. A custom-built app from an agency is quoted per project, usually far higher, and needs upkeep with every iOS release.
Is a mobile app worth it for a Shopify store?
Yes, once you have repeat buyers. The app earns its keep through push notifications, which cost nothing per send, and a permanent icon on the home screen. If most of your customers buy once, a fast mobile site does more for less. Test demand on Plobal's free plan before committing to a fixed subscription.
App or PWA: which should I choose?
Pick a native app if you want App Store and Google Play presence. A PWA (an installable web app) can be added to the home screen, but it doesn't appear in the App Store, and the builders here are built around native apps and store listings.
Do I need an Apple developer account?
Yes, in almost every case, even when the vendor publishes for you. It's $99 a year, and companies need a D-U-N-S number. Google Play is $25 one time for all your apps. Open both in your company's name so you can switch builders later without losing the app.
Does Apple take a cut of sales in my store app?
No, not on physical goods. Apple's rules let you take payment for physical products outside in-app purchase, so your Shopify or WooCommerce checkout stays in place. Selling digital goods inside the app is different: in-app purchase applies. Check guideline 3.1 if your catalog mixes both.
Can I build an ecommerce app for free?
Sort of. Plobal Starter is free in exchange for 3% of in-app sales. AppMySite's free plan builds an Android app only, with its branding. Shopaliz lets you build and preview for free, but publishing is paid. Apple's $99 and Google's $25 apply in every case.
How do I turn a WooCommerce store into an app?
Use a builder that reads WooCommerce, such as AppMySite (iPhone from $99 a month billed yearly) or Appmaker (from $999 a month, plus a setup fee). Install the vendor's plugin, pick your design, then publish. Don't confuse this with the official WooCommerce app, which is for store admin, not shoppers.
Can I switch app builders without losing my app?
Yes, if the Apple and Google Play accounts are in your name: the new builder ships an update to the same listing, and customers keep the app installed. If the vendor published under its own account, you start over. Tapcart advertises migration that keeps push subscribers; ask any other vendor the same question.
