ZeroBounce alternatives: where to go when verification costs too much
Five verifiers in detail, one card per reason to leave, and a seven-step exit plan.
The short answer: Bouncer is the closest like-for-like swap at $8 per 1,000 checks, with data kept in the EU. MillionVerifier wins on price for big files ($89 for 50,000). Emailable suits a few thousand checks a month. DeBounce plugs straight into your email platform. Hunter makes sense if you also need to find addresses. ZeroBounce itself is a good product. People leave over the bill and over credits that can expire without a subscription. We compared all five on their official pricing pages in 2026.
Rankings are editorial: a sponsored placement is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.
Why people switch from ZeroBounce, and why some stay
ZeroBounce holds 4.8 out of 5 on Trustpilot across more than 2,000 reviews, and deliverability people have used it for years to clean client lists. So the problem isn't quality. It's price, credit rules, and a product that grew bigger than the job most buyers need done. Six reasons, each checked against the vendor's own pages or public reviews.
It costs about twice as much per address
The smallest pay-as-you-go purchase is $39 for 2,000 checks, which works out to roughly $19.50 per 1,000 (our math). Bouncer charges $8 per 1,000. Clean a 10,000-contact prospect list every quarter and the gap runs to hundreds of dollars a year. "Great, but expensive" is the most common complaint you'll see.
The subscription starts at $99 a month
ZeroBounce ONE is $99 a month with a 10,000-credit minimum. You get rollover, cancel-anytime and deliverability tools. But if you only verify 3,000 addresses a month, you're paying for 10,000. Annual billing promises 20% off, with no annual price shown.
Without ONE, your credits can expire
The pricing page says expiry rules "may apply" outside the subscription, depending on when you created your account and bought credits. ZeroBounce's docs mention a two-year window after your last payment for newer accounts. Bouncer, MillionVerifier, Emailable, DeBounce and Clearout all say purchased credits never expire.
Email Finder burns 20 credits a lookup
A check costs 1 credit. AI scoring adds 1, Activity Data adds 1, and every successful Email Finder lookup costs 20. One Trustpilot reviewer put it bluntly: "Undisclosed information during checkout that you need 20 credits for 1 email find". ZeroBounce replied that it would make the cost clearer. Do the math before you rely on it for prospecting.
Catch-all results stay fuzzy
A catch-all domain accepts mail for any address, real or not. Several comparisons (mostly written by competitors, so read them with that in mind) say ZeroBounce leaves many of these as catch-all or unknown. The upside: unknowns are free. The downside: you still have to decide what to do with them.
More platform than you need
ONE bundles inbox placement tests, blacklist monitoring, warmup and DMARC reports. If you just want a clean file before a campaign, that's a toolbox you won't open. Deliverability folks also warn that ZeroBounce's risk labels need careful mapping and testing against your own lists.
You're leaving because… go to…

ZeroBounce alternatives, one by one
For each tool: why switch to it, who it's for, who it isn't for, its main limit, how to move over from ZeroBounce, and what it costs. Prices are the ones each vendor lists in USD in 2026.
The tools
Bouncer: the closest swap, at less than half the price
Best overall pickWhy switch to Bouncer. It works the way ZeroBounce does, for much less at everyday volumes: $8 per 1,000 checks, $35 per 5,000, $60 per 10,000, $400 per 100,000, no subscription. Credits never expire, and you aren't charged for duplicates or unknowns. The company is based in Wrocław, Poland, and keeps data only in AWS data centers inside the EU. Addresses are hashed, results are deleted after 60 days or on request, and a DPA is published.
Who it's for. Small and mid-size teams that clean lists before every campaign, and anyone selling into Europe who needs a straightforward GDPR story.
Who it isn't for. Teams that want verification and deliverability under one bill. Bouncer's Deliverability Kit is a separate subscription, from $25 to $250 a month.
Its limit. Only two Trustpilot reviews so far, so there's little independent feedback. Run your own sample through the 100 free credits.
How to switch. Export your ZeroBounce results, send Bouncer only the addresses you never checked plus the unknowns, and swap the ZeroBounce module in Make or Zapier for Bouncer's. Our Bouncer review covers the scores in detail, and Bouncer pricing breaks down every tier.

MillionVerifier: the cheapest way to clean big lists
Lowest price at volumeWhy switch to MillionVerifier. If your ZeroBounce bill comes from list size, this is the biggest saving: $89 for 50,000 checks and $449 for a million. At 50,000, Bouncer charges $250. Credits don't expire, and there's a money-back guarantee on addresses it marks as good that later bounce.
Who it's for. Outbound agencies, growth teams importing tens of thousands of leads at a time, and anyone chasing the floor price. It lists more than 40 integrations, including HubSpot, ActiveCampaign, MailerLite, Smartlead, Snov.io and Pipedrive.
Who it isn't for. Teams that must show exactly where data lives. MillionVerifier says it's GDPR compliant and signs a DPA on every plan, free included, but doesn't state its hosting location.
Its limit. On Trustpilot (4.2 out of 5, 280+ reviews), the complaints are good addresses flagged as bad and cleans that run slow. The praise is just as specific: "got us to <1% bounce rate overnight", one reviewer wrote.
How to switch. Use it for bulk imports, and run a sample of catch-alls through a second tool before you send.

Emailable: simple pricing for small, regular batches
Most free creditsWhy switch to Emailable. Small volumes are easy here: $38 for 5,000 credits as a one-time purchase, or $32.30 a month on a subscription (15% off). That's about $7.60 per 1,000, against roughly $19.50 at ZeroBounce without a subscription. Credits never expire, and the subscription rolls unused ones over.
Who it's for. A sales rep or a small team checking a few thousand leads a month who wants to try it on real data first: you get 250 free credits, more than anyone else here.
Who it isn't for. Teams running hundreds of thousands of checks. MillionVerifier stays cheaper at that scale.
Its limit. It shows GDPR and SOC 2 Type II badges but no hosting location. Ask before you sign if compliance depends on it.
How to switch. Unknowns and duplicates are credited back, so you can feed it ZeroBounce's unknowns without paying twice for nothing.

DeBounce: verification wired into your email platform
Most integrationsWhy switch to DeBounce. It connects straight to most email tools: Mailchimp, Klaviyo, ActiveCampaign, MailerLite, Brevo, Mailjet, Drip and HubSpot, plus Zapier, Google Sheets, WordPress and a JavaScript widget for forms. You clean the list where it lives, no CSV round trip. Pricing starts at $0.00045 per check at the top tier, taxes included, and credits never expire.
Who it's for. Marketing teams that want to clean a Mailchimp or Klaviyo audience in place, and block fake signups at the form.
Who it isn't for. Lists heavy on catch-all domains: catch-all validation costs 10 credits per address.
Its limit. Only the top-tier "from" price is shown in plain text. Run your real volume through the pricing calculator before buying.
How to switch. Connect your email platform, run a full clean, then replace the ZeroBounce step in your Make scenarios. It also takes PayPal and Bitcoin.

Hunter: when you need to find emails too
Finder plus verifierWhy switch to Hunter. At ZeroBounce, finding an address costs 20 credits. At Hunter, finding emails is the core product, and verification costs half a credit. If you prospect B2B, you do both in one place. The free plan gives 50 credits a month; Starter is $49 a month for 2,000 credits, and credits reset every month.
Who it's for. Founders and SDRs building lists domain by domain.
Who it isn't for. Anyone cleaning a 100,000-contact list. A pure verifier is far cheaper at that size.
Its limit. It's a prospecting tool first: no bounce guarantee, and no in-place cleaning for your email platform like DeBounce offers.
How to switch. Move your lookups to Hunter and keep a pure verifier for bulk files. Our guide to switching from Hunter covers the other direction, and our best email finder ranking compares them all.

Switch from ZeroBounce in seven steps
Changing verifiers takes less than a day. The risk isn't technical. It's losing results you already paid for, or leaving a signup form that still calls the old API.
The steps
Download every result before it's gone
Day 1ZeroBounce deletes uploaded files 30 days after upload. Download every result file still available, with all columns, and store it outside the tool. A list you verified last month is money you've already spent.
- Window
- 30 days after upload
- Risk if rushed
- paying twice
Use up your credits, then cancel
SavingsOn ONE, credits roll over while you're subscribed, and you can cancel anytime. Spend what's left on your next file before you stop. Without a subscription, check the expiry date in your account and burn those credits first.
- ONE
- cancel anytime
Keep the status column
MethodKeep ZeroBounce's status column (valid, invalid, catch-all, unknown, spamtrap, abuse, do_not_mail) in your master file. Invalids and spam traps never go back for verification: they leave the list. You only pay the new tool for fresh addresses and doubtful ones.
- Saving
- only new addresses get rechecked
Run two tools on the same sample
Before you buyTake 100 to 250 addresses with known outcomes (real bounces, active customers, a few catch-alls) and run them through two tools' free credits. Compare false positives: a good address flagged as bad is a lost deal. The right vendor is the one with the lowest false-positive rate on your data, not on its homepage.
- Cost
- $0 with free credits
Re-run ZeroBounce's unknowns
TipDon't throw away ZeroBounce's unknowns. They're often slow mail servers or catch-all domains. Send them to the new tool. Bouncer and Emailable don't charge for unknown results.
- Cost
- unknowns free at several vendors
Replace every connector and API key
Cutover dayList everything that calls ZeroBounce: site forms, Make or Zapier scenarios, your CRM, scripts. Replace them one by one. Make has modules for each tool, for example Bouncer, MillionVerifier and Clearout. Then revoke your ZeroBounce keys: a forgotten key keeps burning credits.
- Time
- one hour to half a day
Watch bounce rates on the first sends
Week 1After your first campaign cleaned by the new tool, check the bounce rate in your sending platform. If it climbs compared with earlier campaigns, go back to your sample from step 4. If you need EU-only processing while you still run ZeroBounce, note that only api-eu.zerobounce.net guarantees it.
- Watch
- bounce rate

What makes a verifier switch go wrong
The same mistakes come up again and again in deliverability communities. None of them is technical, and each costs more than the ten minutes it takes to avoid.
Comparing prices without comparing volume
A "from" price tells you nothing. Price your real annual volume: 40,000 checks a year is four 10,000 packs at Bouncer ($240), or a full year of ONE if you stay subscribed.
Re-verifying what's already verified
Running the whole list through the new tool means paying twice. Invalids leave, recent valids stay, and only new and doubtful addresses get rechecked.
Deleting every catch-all
A catch-all isn't a bad address. Send them a small campaign first and keep the ones that engage. Dropping them all can mean losing entire key accounts.
Missing a form wired to the old tool
A form still calling ZeroBounce's API keeps spending credits, or breaks once they run out. Submit a test signup after cutover.
Thinking a verifier fixes deliverability
A clean list doesn't excuse a misconfigured domain. SPF, DKIM and DMARC still need to be set up. Our best cold email tools guide covers it tool by tool.
Signing without checking where data goes
A lead list is personal data. Ask for the DPA, the hosting location and the retention period: 30 days at ZeroBounce, 60 days at Bouncer, adjustable from 5 minutes to 30 days at Verifalia, an Italian vendor.
- ZeroBounce results downloaded within 30 days
- Remaining credits used or ONE canceled
- Status column kept in the master file
- Two tools compared on the same sample
- Unknowns re-run in the new tool
- Make, Zapier and form connectors replaced
- ZeroBounce API keys revoked
- Bounce rate checked after the first campaign
ZeroBounce alternative: frequently asked questions
Is there a free alternative to ZeroBounce?
Not a truly free one, and ZeroBounce is the only tool here that refills 100 free credits every month. For a one-off trial, Emailable gives 250 credits, and Bouncer, MillionVerifier, DeBounce and Clearout give 100 each. Run the same sample through two of them and compare results without paying a cent.
What's the cheapest email verifier?
At volume, MillionVerifier: $89 for 50,000 and $449 for a million. Between 1,000 and 10,000 checks, Bouncer ($8 per 1,000) and Emailable ($38 per 5,000) are simpler. The cheapest check is still the one you don't repeat on an address you already know.
Does ZeroBounce charge for unknown results?
Unknowns and duplicates are free, and ZeroBounce removes duplicates before it counts. Extras cost on top: AI scoring 1 credit, Activity Data 1 credit, Email Finder 20 credits per hit.
How accurate is ZeroBounce?
ZeroBounce claims 99.6% accuracy, and its Trustpilot score (4.8 from 2,000+ reviews) backs up its reputation. Every vendor claims 97% to 99%+, though. The only number that matters is the false-positive rate on your own list, which a two-tool sample will show you.
Is ZeroBounce worth it?
Yes, if you'll use ONE's deliverability tools and verify at least 10,000 addresses a month. If you only clean lists, you'll pay less elsewhere for the same job.
Can I use multiple verification tools together?
Yes, and it's smart on doubtful addresses. Run the whole list through the cheapest tool, then send only catch-alls and unknowns to a second one. The second tool sees a small slice of the file, so the bill stays low.
ZeroBounce or NeverBounce?
ZeroBounce, if you want deliverability tools and EU hosting. NeverBounce, owned by ZoomInfo, has a far lower Trustpilot score and reviewers who complain about credits limited to 12 months. To leave both, Bouncer is the closest swap. Our Bouncer alternatives page compares the same field from another angle.
Which email verifier stores data in the EU?
Bouncer keeps data only in AWS data centers in the EU. ZeroBounce says it hosts EU data on EU servers and offers a Frankfurt endpoint. Verifalia, from Italy, runs its API node in Germany. For the rest, ask for the hosting location in the DPA.
