What changes when the weather drives your plans
Instead of switching to a weather app mid-conversation, you ask Claude. With this connector it pulls AccuWeather data for the place you name, by city or postal code, and often displays an interactive AccuWeather widget next to its answer. You do not even need an AccuWeather account: the publisher says none is required.
Know whether to leave now. widgets-minutecast-claude brings MinuteCast, AccuWeather's minute-by-minute precipitation forecast for the next 60 minutes, handy before a bike commute or an outdoor shoot.
Plan the week of an event. widgets-daily-claude covers up to 10 days, and widgets-hourly-claude up to 12 hours, so Claude can weigh a Saturday market against a Sunday one with the numbers in front of it.
Settle a "was it this cold last year?" debate. widgets-historical-claude returns temperature averages and records for any date in the past 14 days, excluding today, with the climatological normal, last year's value and the all-time record.
What the directory sheet does not tell you: Premium+ extras such as extended forecast hours and AccuWeather Alerts are not available through the connector, even if you pay for them in the app. MinuteCast does not cover every location. And Claude may answer from other sources if your message does not mention AccuWeather. Nothing runs on its own either: no warning arrives when a storm builds, because Claude only calls these tools while it answers you. A recurring weather check is the job of an automation tool, a different trade covered on the Integrations hub.
Five words before you connect
The vocabulary you will meet while plugging AccuWeather into Claude.
- Connector
- The link you set up once between Claude and a service, so Claude can use it while it answers you.
- Tool
- One named thing a connector lets Claude do. Claude picks the ones it needs mid-answer, and the directory lists them by name.
- Authorization
- The screen where you grant the permissions the service requests. Granted once per person, and you can take it back later.
- Approval
- The confirmation Claude waits for before it goes through with something that changes an account, shown right in the chat.
- MCP
- The shared standard connectors are built on: the piece that lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service.
Connect AccuWeather to Claude in three steps
- 01
Find AccuWeather in Claude
In Claude's settings, open Customize, then Connectors, and look for AccuWeather in the list. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable the connector first, before members can connect it.
- 02
Start the connection
Click Connect on its row and follow the window the service opens. If the link ever breaks, use Disconnect from the connector's page, then connect again.
- 03
Review what you grant
Read the permission screen before you accept. It comes from the service, not from Claude, and it sets what the access covers. You can withdraw it later by disconnecting.
The 9 tools, sorted by what they do
AccuWeather® gives Claude 9 tools: 9 that read your account, 0 that change something in it.
A single group this time: every tool reads weather data for a place you ask about. Tool names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

What Claude reads (9)
9 toolsNine tools that fetch weather data and change nothing in any account.
widgets-current-claude
Fetches what the weather is doing right now at the location you name, from AccuWeather's current conditions. Claude can answer in a sentence or show the matching widget.
widgets-daily-claude
Returns the day-by-day forecast, up to 10 days ahead, for one place, one of the data sets AccuWeather says Claude can pull for any location you ask about. That range lets Claude compare several dates for the same outing.
widgets-gov-alert-map-claude
Pulls the official warnings issued by government weather services for the area you ask about, as listed among AccuWeather's capabilities.
widgets-historical-claude
Gives temperature averages and records for any date within the past 14 days, today excluded: the climatological normal, last year's value and the all-time high and low record.
widgets-hourly-claude
Lays out the next hours one by one, up to 12 hours ahead. Claude can then point to the dry window in an afternoon.
widgets-map-claude
Brings up AccuWeather radar for the location, which the directory describes as an interactive radar map. The widget shows where precipitation sits around you.
widgets-minutecast-claude
Delivers AccuWeather's minute-by-minute precipitation forecast for the next 60 minutes, the shortest horizon of the whole list.
widgets-search-claude
Lets Claude locate the place you mean, by city name or postal code, before asking for its weather. The publisher's directory text adds that any location worldwide can be searched.
widgets-todayTonightForecast-claude
Splits the current day into a daytime and a nighttime outlook, the format AccuWeather calls Today/Tonight. Claude can then tell you whether the evening turns colder or wetter than the afternoon.
What Claude asks before acting
By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before every action it takes on an account on your behalf. The request shows up in the conversation, at the moment it matters.
AccuWeather adds a detail of its own: the first time you use the connector, Claude may ask permission to use one of its tools and to share the location your answer needs. You can allow it once, or always. On Team and Enterprise, owners decide whether members can let some actions through without a prompt, and they can cap what a connector may do for the whole organization. Nobody overrides that from their own account.
Which plans it works on
Out of 819 sheets in the official directory, not one shows availability by plan. That answer, connector by connector, is published nowhere: it is a real gap in the catalog.
The general rule is public: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector for the organization before each member can connect. AccuWeather's own article names plans, which the limits section sets against that rule. For the current state, check the connector's sheet in the official directory.
Where this connector stops
A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you: no alert lands in your chat when a storm warning goes out.
A tool list that only shows reads is an observed floor, not a promise: an admin can open actions that appear on no public sheet. The partner badge is not a security audit either, and Anthropic says so on every sheet: it does not choose the tools a publisher exposes and does not guarantee they behave as described. This connector is documented only by its publisher; Claude's help center has no page of its own for it. For a connector where the sources disagree on writes, see the Claude adobe-workfront connector.
Which Claude plans can use the AccuWeather connector?
- Claude help center, general connector rule ↗September 2026Remote connectors are open to all users; on Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable each one first.
- AccuWeather support article ↗August 2026The publisher lists a Claude account on Free, Pro, Team or Enterprise as the requirement, without mentioning Max.
What this page followsBoth point the same way, but not with the same authority: Anthropic states the rule for every connector, AccuWeather lists plans for its own and leaves Max out. Neither settles your case. Check the connector's sheet in the directory from your own account.
