Overview

What changes for a sales team

You stop tabbing between Attio views to answer simple questions. Ask Claude who you know at a prospect, what was said on the last call or which tasks are due, and it digs through records, notes, emails and call transcripts itself, then answers in the chat. When something needs logging, it asks before it writes.

Walk into a call prepared. search-meetings finds the upcoming meeting, get-call-recording pulls the transcript of the previous one, and semantic-search-emails surfaces the thread where pricing came up. You get a briefing, not ten open tabs.

Log the call without retyping it. Right after the demo, create-note attaches your recap to the company record and create-task sets the follow-up with a deadline and an owner. Claude asks you to confirm both before anything lands in Attio.

Keep records clean. upsert-record matches on an email or a domain, so a contact you already have gets refreshed instead of duplicated.

What it will not do: the directory sheet lists no tool to delete a record, merge duplicates, comment or run a report, even though Attio's own documentation describes some of these. Nothing runs on its own either: no tool wakes up when a deal changes stage. For background jobs of that kind, the Attio Make integration covers a different need, and the Integrations hub lists the other options.

Vocabulary

The vocabulary in one minute

Five words you will meet while plugging Attio into Claude.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already have, so Claude can work in it while it answers you.
Tool
One named thing a connector lets Claude do. Claude picks the ones it needs on its own, and the directory sheet lists them by name.
Authorization
The sign-in screen of Attio itself, where you hand Claude its access. Granted once per person, and you can take it back the same way.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it goes ahead with a change to your account, shown in the conversation at the moment it matters.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as Attio.
Connect

Connect Attio to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Attio in Claude

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize then Connectors, and look for Attio in the list. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to switch the connector on before members can sign in to it.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on Attio's row, then sign in with your Attio account in the window Attio opens itself. No key to paste. If the link ever breaks, use Disconnect and connect again.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Go through the authorization screen before you accept. It belongs to Attio, not to Claude, and it sets what the access covers. You can revoke that session later from your Attio account settings.

Tools

The 23 tools, sorted by what they do

Attio gives Claude 23 tools: 17 that read your account, 6 that change something in it.

Two groups here: what Claude reads, and what it writes. Tool names stay exactly as Claude shows them, in English.

What Claude reads (17)

17 tools

Seventeen tools that look things up in your workspace without touching it. Attio says they run without asking.

get-call-recording

Opens one call recording in full, with its details and the transcript, so Claude can quote what was actually said instead of guessing from a summary.

When it helps
you missed yesterday's discovery call and want the objections the prospect raised, in their own words.
Watch out
Claude needs to know which call first, so it usually pairs this with a search.

get-email-content

Retrieves the complete text of one email stored in Attio, not just its subject line or a preview. Claude reads it and can pull out the exact figures or dates it contains.

When it helps
a colleague mentions "the pricing email" and you want the numbers the client quoted back.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

get-note-body

Brings back the full text of a single note, however long, so Claude works from the whole recap rather than the snippet a search returns.

When it helps
you want the complete notes from the quarterly review before the renewal meeting.
Watch out
it reads one note at a time, found beforehand.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

get-records-by-ids

Fetches every detail Attio holds on specific records Claude has already identified: people, companies, deals. It is the step that turns a list of hits into complete profiles.

When it helps
a search returned three companies and you want their full profiles side by side.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

list-attribute-definitions

Shows which fields exist on a type of record, with their format and the options allowed. Claude learns your workspace's vocabulary before it filters or fills anything.

When it helps
you ask for deals at a given stage and Claude first checks what your stages are actually called.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

list-records

Pulls the records of one object, companies or deals for instance, with filters and a sort order. You get a clean list without building a view in Attio.

When it helps
Monday morning, you want every open deal sorted by expected close date.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

list-workspace-members

Returns the people in your Attio workspace, with their details and which teams they belong to. Useful when a task or a record has to be tied to the right colleague.

When it helps
you want to know who sits on the sales team before assigning follow-ups.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

list-workspace-teams

Lists every team set up in the workspace, giving Claude the structure of your organisation as Attio knows it.

When it helps
a new manager asks how the revenue org is split and you want the answer from the CRM rather than from memory.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

search-call-recordings-by-metadata

Looks for call recordings using who took part, the linked records, the title or a date range. It narrows the pile before Claude opens a transcript.

When it helps
you want every recorded call with a partner's team from last quarter.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

search-emails-by-metadata

Searches emails by participant, sender domain or time window. Claude gets the list of matching messages, then opens the ones that matter.

When it helps
you want everything received from a client's domain over the past week before a status call.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

search-meetings

Checks past and upcoming meetings by attendee, related record or period, so Claude can see what is booked and what already happened with an account.

When it helps
you ask what meetings you have with a prospect this week and whether anyone met them before.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

search-notes-by-metadata

Filters notes by the record they sit on, their author, the meeting they belong to or when they were written.

When it helps
you want all notes you wrote on one deal this month, to prepare your forecast comment.
Watch out
it matches on those criteria, not on what the note says.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

search-records

Runs a full-text search across people, companies and deals, on names, emails, domains and other indexed fields. It is usually Claude's first step on any question about an account.

When it helps
you want every contact you hold at a given company before an intro.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

semantic-search-emails

Finds emails by what they talk about rather than by sender or date, using a semantic search. Ask for a subject in plain words and Claude gets the threads that match it.

When it helps
you want every thread where a contract renewal was discussed, whoever wrote it.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

semantic-search-notes

Searches the meaning of your notes instead of their metadata, so a theme surfaces even if nobody used the same words twice.

When it helps
you want to see how often pricing objections came up across deals this quarter, and in which accounts.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

whoami

Tells Claude which Attio user it is connected as and what workspace membership that account has. Claude knows whose rights it is working with.

When it helps
results look thin and you want to confirm Claude is signed in with your account, not a shared one.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

list-tasks

Reads the tasks in the workspace with optional filters, such as status, due date or linked record. Your to-do list comes back in the chat.

When it helps
first thing in the morning, you want your unfinished tasks due this week, grouped by account.

What Claude writes (6)

6 tools

Six tools that add or edit data. Attio says each one asks for your confirmation first.

create-note

Asks you first

Adds a note to a record in Attio, for instance the recap of a call on the company it concerns. The text you dictate becomes part of the account's history.

What Claude asks for
Attio says write actions request your confirmation, so Claude checks with you before saving.
When it helps
you just finished a demo and want the takeaways logged in one sentence.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

create-record

Asks you first

Adds a person, a company, a deal or a custom object entry to your CRM from a sentence in the chat.

What Claude asks for
your confirmation before the record is created, according to Attio.
When it helps
you met a new CTO at an event and want her in Attio before you forget.
Watch out
if the person may already be in Attio, upsert-record is the one that matches on an email or a domain first.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

create-task

Asks you first

Sets up a task in Attio, with a deadline, an assignee and a linked record if you give them. The follow-up exists in the CRM, not just in the conversation.

What Claude asks for
Attio says Claude requests your confirmation before creating it.
When it helps
you want a reminder to send the proposal on Friday, tied to the deal.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

update-task

Asks you first

Changes an existing task: its deadline, its status, who owns it or the record it is linked to.

What Claude asks for
a confirmation before the change goes through, per Attio's documentation.
When it helps
the client pushed the meeting, so the prep task moves to next Monday and you mark the old follow-up done.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

update-record

Asks you first

Rewrites fields on a record Claude has already found, by its identifier: a new job title, a revised deal value, a fresh status.

What Claude asks for
Attio states that updates wait for your confirmation.
When it helps
a contact got promoted and you want the title right before the next email.

Sourcedocs.attio.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

upsert-record

Asks you first

Matches a record on an attribute like an email address or a domain, then updates it if it exists or creates it if it does not. One call, no duplicate.

What Claude asks for
your confirmation, as with every Attio write.
When it helps
you paste a funding announcement and want the company record refreshed, whether or not it is already there.

Approvals

What Claude asks before it acts

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before any action it takes on an account for you. Attio goes further in writing: reads run without asking, writes always request a confirmation.

On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners decide whether a member may let some actions through without being asked every time. They can also cap what a connector may do for the whole organisation, keeping reads open and closing writes, and nobody overrides that from their own account. Last point: Claude works with your Attio permissions and nothing more. A record you cannot open in Attio stays closed to it too.

Plans

Which plans this works on

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows plan availability. The per-connector answer is published nowhere, and that is a real gap in the catalogue.

The general rule is published: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner switches the connector on for the organisation before each member can sign in. For the current state of this one, check the Attio sheet in the official directory.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you: nothing starts when a deal moves stage, an email arrives or a task falls due.

Only Attio documents this connector; neither Claude's help centre nor Anthropic's developer docs have a page on it. The tool list is an observed floor, not a promise: an administrator may open actions that no public sheet shows. The partner badge is not a security audit either, and Anthropic says so on every sheet: it does not choose the tools a publisher exposes and does not guarantee they behave as described. Plug in what comes from a publisher you trust, here Attio itself.

Two official sources disagree

Which tools does the Attio connector expose in Claude?

What this page followsNeither is outdated: they describe different perimeters. Attio documents a larger server than the list the sheet publishes. What your account really gets shows up in Claude once you are connected; this page sticks to the 23 tools on the sheet.

FAQ

FAQ about the Claude Attio connector

01What can Claude do with the Claude Attio connector?
Claude can search and read your Attio CRM and log work in it from the conversation. Seventeen tools look up records, lists of deals, tasks, workspace members, notes, emails, meetings and call transcripts, including searches by topic rather than by keyword. Six more tools add notes, records and tasks, or edit tasks and records. The idea is to answer questions about an account in one message instead of opening several views in Attio, and to log what you learn right after a call.
02Can Claude create or change data in my Attio workspace?
Yes, six of the 23 tools write to your workspace. Claude can add a note to a record, create a person, company or deal, set up a task with a deadline and an assignee, edit a task or a record, and create or refresh a record matched on an email or a domain. The directory sheet lists no tool to delete a record, merge duplicates or post comments, so those stay in Attio itself. Every one of these writes asks you first, according to Attio.
03Does Claude ask before acting in Attio?
Yes for anything that writes. Attio's documentation says read operations are approved automatically while write operations request your confirmation before data is created or updated. On top of that, Claude's default is to ask before any action it takes on an account for you. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners decide whether members can let some actions pass without a prompt, and they can close writing for the whole organisation if they prefer the CRM to stay read-only.
04Which plans is the Attio connector available on?
No official source publishes availability per plan, connector by connector, and none of the directory sheets shows it. The general rule says remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner must switch the connector on before members can sign in individually. The connector's sheet in the official directory is the only place that shows its current state for your account, so check it there.
05Does Claude see my whole Attio workspace?
No, only what your own Attio user can see. The connector signs in as you, through Attio's own login, and inherits exactly your permissions inside your workspace. A colleague with broader rights will get more results from the same question. It never reaches another workspace. You can end the session from your Attio account settings at any time. Separately, an owner of a Team or Enterprise Claude workspace can restrict what connectors may do for everyone.
06Is there a limit on how much Claude can query Attio?
Yes: Attio applies rate limits per workspace, tool group by tool group. Attio documents 100 read calls per second, 25 write calls per second, 300 searches per minute and only 2 semantic searches per second, shared by everyone in the workspace. A request that fires many topic searches in a row can hit that ceiling. Attio also states that every operation made through the connector is logged and auditable, so heavy use leaves a trace an admin can review.
07Claude or an automation tool for Attio?
They answer different needs, so it depends on the job. Claude works inside a conversation: you ask, it searches, summarises or logs, and nothing happens once you stop typing. It does not react on its own when a deal changes stage or an email lands. Anything that must run in the background on an event belongs to an automation tool. For on-demand answers about an account and quick logging after a call, the connector is the better fit.
