Overview

Why plug CargoAi into Claude

A freight forwarder's day is a string of small lookups: a rate for tomorrow's departure, the status of an air waybill, the right cargo contact at an airport. With the connector, you ask in plain English and Claude queries your CargoMART operations directly, then answers in the conversation, without a portal open in another tab.

A rate in one sentence. Ask for the cheapest direct flights from Paris to New York tomorrow for a given weight: search_rates returns flights with pricing, transit times and carrier details.

A shipment's status without the portal. Give an air waybill number and track_shipment returns its current status, location and full event history, which Claude can summarize for a customer email.

The right contact at the right airport. airline_contact finds an airline's cargo contact by country or airport, and gha_information names the ground handling agent for an airline at a given airport.

What it won't do: book a shipment or issue a quote document; the sheet lists no tool for that. Its two writing tools only manage who receives tracking emails. Nothing runs by itself either: Claude searches when you ask, and only the email alerts you subscribe to keep coming. Wiring tracking into other systems is an automation tool's job; the Integrations hub covers that side.

Vocabulary

The vocabulary in one minute

Five words you will meet while plugging CargoAi into Claude.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already have, so Claude can work with it while it answers you.
Tool
One named job the connector opens to Claude, like tracking a shipment. Claude picks the ones it needs; the directory lists them by name.
Authorization
CargoAi's own sign-in screen, where you grant Claude the access it will use afterwards. Given once per person, and revocable.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it goes ahead with something that changes your account, shown in the chat when it matters.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as CargoAi.
Connect

Connect CargoAi to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find CargoAi in Claude

In Claude's settings, open Customize, then Connectors, and look for CargoAi in the list. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner switches the connector on before each member can link it.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on its row; CargoAi then opens its own login page, where you sign in with your CargoAi credentials. If the link breaks, Disconnect and connect again.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Read CargoAi's screen before you accept. It belongs to CargoAi, not Claude, and decides what the access covers. The access granted there can later be withdrawn from the CargoAi side too.

What Claude reads (4)

4 tools

Four tools that search rates, statuses and contacts without changing anything.

search_rates

Searches available flights and rates between two airports, with pricing, transit times and carrier details. If results are still loading, the tool retries on its own to fetch the completed ones.

When it helps
a client wants a price for a pallet leaving tomorrow.
Watch out
without an origin or date, it uses your office airport and tomorrow.

airline_contact

Looks up an airline's contact information at a given place, filtered by country, origin airport or airline name and code.

When it helps
a shipment is stuck and you need the airline's cargo desk at Charles de Gaulle, not its general switchboard.

gha_information

Names the ground handling agent responsible for an airline's cargo at a given airport, the company physically handling the freight there.

When it helps

Approvals

What Claude asks before it acts

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before any action it takes on an account on your behalf. No source says whether subscribing or unsubscribing an address triggers a confirmation of its own.

CargoAi adds a note on data: its server stores no conversation data, each request stands alone, and the addresses you give to the tracking tools go to its tracking service. On Team and Enterprise, owners decide whether members can let some actions through without being asked each time, and they can limit what a connector may do for the whole organization; nobody overrides that from their own account. Claude works with your CargoAi rights, nothing more.

Plans

Which plans it's available on

No sheet among the 819 in the official directory displays plan availability. For any one connector, Anthropic publishes that answer nowhere.

The general rule is public: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner switches the connector on for the organization before members can link it. CargoAi's own subscription is another matter, covered in the connection tip. For the current state on Claude's side, the connector's sheet in the official directory is where to look.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you: no rate check runs overnight, and only the tracking emails you subscribe to arrive on their own.

Everything CargoAi-specific here comes from CargoAi's documentation: no Claude help article covers this connector. The two writing tools stop at email alerts; nothing on the sheet books or quotes a shipment. The directory badge isn't a security audit, and Anthropic says on every sheet that it doesn't control a publisher's tools. The Claude adobe-workfront connector page answers the same questions for another service.

FAQ

Claude CargoAi connector: frequently asked questions

01What can Claude do with the CargoAi connector?
Claude can work with your CargoMART operations from a conversation. It searches flight rates and schedules between airports, with pricing, transit times and carrier details, tracks a shipment by air waybill number with its full event history, finds an airline's cargo contact at a given airport, and names the ground handling agent for a carrier. It can also subscribe or unsubscribe email addresses from tracking updates on a given air waybill.
02Can Claude book or change shipments in CargoAi?
Not with the tools on its sheet. The two writing tools only manage tracking alerts: one adds email addresses to the updates for an air waybill, the other removes them, by default using your account email. Nothing listed books a flight, issues a quote document or changes a shipment itself. Rate searches return prices and flights to consider, and the booking stays in CargoMART. The four other tools only look things up.
03Does Claude ask before changing tracking alerts?
By default, Claude asks for confirmation before any action it takes on an account on your behalf. No source documents a prompt specific to the two CargoAi writing tools, so that default rule is what covers subscribing and unsubscribing addresses. On Team and Enterprise, owners decide whether members may let some actions through without a prompt, and they can block writing for the whole organization. Check the address before confirming.
04Which plans is it available on?
No official source from Anthropic publishes plan availability connector by connector, and no directory sheet shows it. The general rule says remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner switching the connector on first on Team and Enterprise. Separately, CargoAi requires a CargoMART Premium or Ultimate office subscription on its own side. The connector's sheet in the official directory shows Claude's current state.
05Does Claude see my whole CargoAi account?
Claude works with the access of the CargoAi user who connected it, and nothing more. CargoAi says its server stores no conversation data and treats each request on its own, while operational logs are kept for 30 days and not shared with third parties outside its infrastructure. Defaults such as the origin airport follow your office. The email addresses you pass to the tracking tools go to CargoAi's tracking service. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an owner can also restrict the connector for everyone.
06Why does CargoAi refuse access from Claude?
The most likely reason, according to CargoAi's documentation, is the subscription: the connector requires a CargoMART Premium or Ultimate office, and lower tiers don't have access. That requirement sits on CargoAi's side, tied to the plan of your CargoMART office, and has nothing to do with your Claude account. If a rate search fails instead, it has probably taken longer than expected; CargoAi's advice is to retry, since large searches can need a few extra seconds.
07Claude or an automation tool for CargoAi?
They don't do the same job, so the task decides. Claude answers during a conversation: you ask for a rate or a status, it queries CargoAi and replies, then waits. It doesn't push a status change into your TMS or ping a customer on its own; the tracking emails you subscribe to are the only thing that arrives unprompted. For background flows between systems, an automation tool is the right trade. For quick lookups in plain English, the connector fits.
