Overview

What changes once Claude can read your Digits books

Instead of exporting a ledger and filtering it in a spreadsheet, you ask Claude a question about your money and it digs into Digits for the answer. It works out which business you mean, then searches the transactions themselves, by dates, amounts, parties or categories, and replies in the conversation.

Pick the right entity first. If you run several companies, list_businesses shows every one you can reach, direct or affiliated, and select_business fixes which one the next questions are about.

Answer the question behind the export. Ask for every card payment to a given vendor in February and Claude runs query_transactions with that date range and party, rather than you scrolling a register.

Know who else is in the books. Before you share a figure, list_business_users tells you which people already have access to that business.

Now the limits. Digits states that its server is read-only and cannot create, update or delete anything in your account, so no categorizing or fixing of entries from the chat. Bills and invoices cannot be looked up directly either. And Claude acts only while it answers you: no weekly cash summary goes out by itself. For a scheduled report you want an automation tool, which does a different job; the Integrations hub is where that side lives. For another example of a connector page, see the Claude affinity connector.

Vocabulary

Five words before you plug in your books

The terms Claude uses around this connector, explained once.

Connector
A link you set up once between Claude and an account you already own, so Claude can work on it while it answers you.
Tool
One named capability the connector hands Claude. Claude picks the ones it needs on its own; the directory lists them by name.
Authorization
The sign-in screen of Digits itself, where you grant the access Claude will use. Given once per person, and it can be revoked.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it goes ahead with something that changes an account, shown in the chat at that moment.
MCP
The common standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant such as Claude talk to an outside service like Digits.
Connect

Connect Digits to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Locate Digits among connectors

In Claude's settings, open Customize, then Connectors, and find Digits in the list. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable it before members can each sign in.

  2. 02

    Launch the sign-in

Click Connect on the Digits row, then log in in the window Digits opens itself. Digits asks you to use the same email and credentials as your usual Digits login. If the link breaks, Disconnect and connect again.

  3. 03

    Review the authorization

Read the Digits authorization screen before you accept. It belongs to Digits, not to Claude, and it decides what the access covers. You can later withdraw that access from your Digits account too.

Tools

The 4 tools, all on the reading side

Digits gives Claude 4 tools: 4 that read your account, 0 that change something in it.

Grouped by what they do. Tool names stay exactly as Claude displays them.

What Claude reads (4)

4 tools

Four tools that look into your Digits data and leave it untouched.

list_businesses

Returns every business you can access in Digits, including affiliated entities as well as the ones you hold directly, so Claude knows which books are on the table.

When it helps
a founder with a holding and two operating companies wants to check which ones Claude can see before asking anything.

Sourcehelp.digits.com · September 18, 2026 ↗

select_business

Sets the one business Claude should work with for the questions that follow. It only tells Claude where to look; every figure in your accounts stays as it was.

When it helps
you just asked about the US entity and now want the same answer for the UK one without repeating the context.
Watch out
follow-up answers refer to the business selected last, so say clearly which entity you mean next.

list_business_users

Shows the people who have access to a given business in Digits. Claude reads the list; it cannot add or remove anyone.

When it helps
before an audit, the finance lead wants a quick view of who can open the books of a subsidiary.

query_transactions

Searches individual transactions and filters them by date range, amount, party or category, then brings the matching lines back into the chat.

When it helps
spotting every software subscription above a set amount over the last quarter, before renewing the budget.
Watch out
it covers transactions, not bills or invoices, which Digits says are not yet available this way.

Approvals

What Claude checks with you first

By default, Claude stops and asks before each action it carries out on an account on someone's behalf. No source describes a specific confirmation for any of the four Digits tools.

On Team and Enterprise, workspace owners decide whether a member may let some actions through without a prompt every time. They can also restrict what a connector does for the whole organization, and nobody overrides that from a personal account. Claude works with the access of the person who connected and nothing more. The official read or write tag per tool sits in a signed-in account's settings only.

Plans

Which plans can use it

No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets shows it, Digits included.

The documented rule is a general one: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables a connector for the organization before members can connect. The live state for Digits sits on its own sheet in the official directory, the only place that keeps it current.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it replies, so nothing fires when a transaction lands or a month closes.

Digits itself describes its server as read-only, so this page does not need to infer anything there. Still, a read-only list is an observed floor: an administrator can open actions that no public sheet shows. The partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic notes on every sheet that it neither picks a publisher's tools nor guarantees how they behave. Everything here comes from Digits' help article; Claude's own help center has no page for this connector.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude Digits connector

01What can Claude do with the Claude Digits connector?
Claude can read your Digits data and answer questions about it in the conversation. Its four listed tools list the businesses you can reach, select which one to work on, show who has access to a business, and search individual transactions by date range, amount, party or category. In practice you ask something like which payments went to a vendor last month, and Claude looks it up instead of you exporting and filtering a ledger by hand.
02Can Claude change entries or categories in Digits?
No, according to Digits. The publisher states that its server is read-only: it can retrieve and analyze your financial data, but it cannot create, update or delete anything in your account. All four tools on the directory sheet are on the reading side. Keep in mind that a reading-only list is an observed floor and not a promise from Anthropic; an administrator could open more without any public sheet showing it.
03Does Claude ask before it uses my Digits data?
No source describes a confirmation for any of the four Digits tools, so the general rule applies: Claude stops and asks before each action it takes on an account on someone's behalf. On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may let some actions pass without a prompt, and they can restrict what the connector does for everyone. Digits also notes that a connection stuck on Requested may be waiting for an administrator's approval.
04Which plans is the Digits connector available on?
No official source publishes that connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets shows plan availability. What is documented is the general rule: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables a connector for the organization before members can sign in. To see where Digits stands for your account, check its sheet in the official directory.
05Does Claude see every company and figure in Digits?
No, only what your own login reaches. Claude works with the access of the person who connected and nothing beyond, so a business you cannot open in Digits stays out of its reach as well. Within that scope, it can list the businesses available to you, including affiliated entities, and the users of each one. You sign in with your usual Digits credentials, and you can withdraw the access later from the Digits side.
06Why is my Claude Digits connection stuck on Requested?
Possibly because an administrator has not approved the connector yet. Digits explains that when a connection stays on Requested, your AI workspace administrator may need to approve the Digits connector. Ask that person to check it. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner also has to enable a connector before members can sign in. If the problem is signing in instead, make sure you use the same email and credentials as your normal Digits login.
07Claude or an automation tool for Digits reports?
It depends on the use, because they do different jobs. Claude with this connector fits a question you have right now: you ask, it reads the transactions, and you refine in the conversation. It does not run on a schedule, so it will not send a weekly cash note on its own. If you need a recurring report delivered somewhere, that is the job of an automation tool. Neither one wins in general; pick by whether you are asking or monitoring.
