What changes when Claude can reach your Drafts library
Drafts is where a lot of quick text lands: meeting notes, ideas, lists. With this extension, Claude works directly in the app on your Mac. It searches and reads your drafts, writes new ones, tags them, files them away, and can even run one of your Drafts actions on a note, all from the conversation.
A weekly review in one request. Ask Claude to gather last week's notes from a workspace: drafts_get_drafts filters by folder, tag and dates, drafts_get_draft pulls the full text, and drafts_create_draft stores a summary tagged for review.
Action items, collected. drafts_search finds every draft mentioning a project, Claude reads them and writes a single list of next steps into a new draft.
Tidy-up without clicking. drafts_flag, drafts_archive and drafts_trash sort notes once you have said which ones.
Now what it will not do. It runs only on macOS, through the Drafts app itself, so nothing happens on an iPhone or a PC. Claude also acts only while it answers you: no draft gets filed on its own when it arrives. And one tool deserves care, because a Drafts action can push text out of the app, an email for instance. If you want a recurring routine that runs unattended, that is the job of an automation tool; the Integrations hub covers that side. For a connector that works on content in the cloud instead, see the Claude agility-cms connector.
Five words before you install
The vocabulary Claude uses around this extension, in one minute.
- Connector
- The link set up once between Claude and an app you already use, so Claude can work in it while it answers you. Here it is a desktop extension.
- Tool
- One named action the connector lets Claude take. Claude picks the ones it needs on its own; the directory sheet lists all 19 by name.
- Authorization
- The permission you grant so Claude can act in a service. For Drafts, macOS asks for it the first time, in its privacy settings.
- Approval
- The confirmation Claude waits for before doing something that changes your data, shown in the conversation at that moment.
- MCP
- The shared standard behind connectors: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to another app, here Drafts on your Mac.
Connect Drafts to Claude in three steps
- 01
Find Drafts in Claude Desktop
Drafts arrives as a desktop extension, which installs on Claude Desktop. Open the settings, go to Customize, then Connectors, and find Drafts. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner enables it first.
- 02
Turn it on
Click Connect on its row and follow the prompts. If the link breaks later, use Disconnect and connect again. The publisher adds that Drafts must be installed and opened at least once on the Mac beforehand.
- 03
Grant the permission
Read the permission request before you accept it. It decides what the access covers, not Claude. For Drafts, it is macOS that asks whether Claude Desktop may control the app.
The 19 tools: what Claude reads and what it changes
Drafts gives Claude 19 tools: 11 that read your account, 8 that change something in it.
Two groups: what Claude only looks at, and what alters your drafts. Names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

Tools index
What Claude reads (11)
11 toolsEleven tools that look at your drafts, tags, workspaces and actions without altering them.
drafts_list_workspaces
Returns all the workspaces you have set up in Drafts, so Claude knows how your notes are organized before it looks inside one.
drafts_list_tags
Shows every tag in your Drafts library, which gives Claude the exact vocabulary you actually use to sort and find notes.
drafts_get_tag
Fetches one tag together with the drafts attached to it, as summaries without their full text.
drafts_get_current_workspace
Tells Claude which workspace is active in Drafts right now, so it can stay in the context you are already working in.
drafts_get_current
Reads the draft that is open in the Drafts editor at this moment, the note currently on your screen, whatever its workspace.
drafts_get_workspace_drafts
Lists the drafts of a given workspace, optionally limited to one folder, as summaries rather than full text.
drafts_get_drafts
The flexible filter: drafts by content, folder, tag, flag status and dates, returned as short summaries rather than full text.
drafts_get_draft
Opens a single draft by its unique identifier and returns its full text, which the list and search tools leave out.
drafts_search
Looks for drafts matching a query string across your library and returns summaries of the hits.
drafts_list_actions
Shows the Drafts actions available on your Mac, by name. These are the actions that drafts_run_action can then apply to a draft you choose.
drafts_open
Brings a chosen draft up in the Drafts editor on your screen, leaving its content exactly as it is.
What Claude changes (8)
8 toolsEight tools that add, edit, tag or move drafts. No source spells out a confirmation for them, so the general rule below applies.

drafts_update_draft
Approval: see the ruleReplaces the content of an existing draft with new text, for instance a rewritten or corrected version.
drafts_add_tags
Approval: see the ruleAttaches one or more tags to a draft that already exists, without touching its text.
drafts_run_action
Approval: see the ruleRuns one of your Drafts actions on a chosen draft, which can send its text outside the app, by email for example.
drafts_flag
Approval: see the ruleSets or removes the flag on a draft, the marker you use to keep a note in view.
drafts_archive
Approval: see the ruleFiles a draft into the archive folder, out of the inbox but still kept.
drafts_inbox
Approval: see the ruleReturns a draft to the inbox, for instance one you archived too early.
drafts_trash
Approval: see the ruleSends a draft to the trash folder in Drafts.
What Claude checks with you first
By default, Claude stops and asks before each action it takes on your behalf. No source describes a specific confirmation for any of the eight Drafts tools that change something.
On Team and Enterprise, owners decide whether members may let some actions through without a prompt each time. They can also restrict what a connector may do for the whole organization, reading on and writing off for example, and nobody overrides that from a personal account. Claude works with the access you gave it and nothing more. The official read or write tag per tool lives in a signed-in account's settings only.
Which plans can use it
None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows plan availability. For Drafts, as for every connector, that answer is published nowhere.
The documented rule is general: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, while desktop extensions like this one install on Claude Desktop. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables a connector before members connect. Its live state sits on its sheet in the official directory, the only place kept current.
Where this connector stops
A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you, so nothing fires when a new draft lands.
The partner badge in the directory is not a security audit, and Anthropic states on every sheet that it neither picks a publisher's tools nor guarantees how they behave. Everything on this page comes from the publisher's repository, its readme and its tool definitions; no Claude help article covers Drafts. Mind the tool that runs Drafts actions: what it does depends on the action, not on Claude, so know your actions well.
