What changes when Claude can work in your PocketSmith account
PocketSmith is personal finance software built around budgeting and forecasting. With this connector, you ask Claude about your money the way you would ask a friend who knows your accounts: how the month is going, what you pay every year in subscriptions, where the savings account is heading. Claude reads your live data, explains it, and can also tidy it up, which is why the write tools deserve a look.
Know where the month stands. financial_health_snapshot returns net worth, spending pace, budget traffic lights and action items, so Claude can answer in one reply whether the month is on track.
Find recurring charges. find_recurring_expenses detects subscriptions and recurring bills and gives their annual cost totals.
Tidy up transactions. Claude searches and filters with list_transactions, checks your category hierarchy, then edits payee, category, labels, notes or splits with update_transaction.
What it will not do: nothing runs by itself, so no alert fires when a bill lands; Claude acts only while it answers. Fifteen tools on the sheet are named only under grouped "Manage" lines for accounts, institutions, categories, events and attachments, with no description of their own, so this page does not say what they do. For scheduled alerts, look at automation platforms from our Integrations hub.
Five words before you connect
Claude's vocabulary for this connector, in one minute.
- Connector
- The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already have, so Claude can work on it while it answers you.
- Tool
- One named thing the connector lets Claude do. Claude picks the ones it needs on its own; the directory lists them by name.
- Authorization
- PocketSmith's own sign-in screen, where you hand Claude the access it will use. Granted once per person, and it can be withdrawn.
- Approval
- The confirmation Claude waits for before doing something that changes an account, shown in the conversation when it matters.
- MCP
- The shared standard connectors are built on, the piece that lets an assistant talk to an outside service like PocketSmith.
Connect PocketSmith Complete Access to Claude in three steps
- 01
Find the connector
Open Claude's settings, go to Customize then Connectors, and look for PocketSmith Complete Access. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable it for the organisation before members can sign in one by one.
- 02
Start the connection
Click Connect on its row, then sign in to PocketSmith in the window PocketSmith opens itself. If the link breaks later, use Disconnect and connect again.
- 03
Read the authorization screen
Read PocketSmith's authorization screen before you accept. It belongs to PocketSmith, not to Claude, and it sets what the access covers. PocketSmith adds that you can revoke it at any time from its authorised applications page.
The 66 tools, sorted by what they do
PocketSmith Complete Access gives Claude 66 tools: 40 that read your account, 11 that change something in it, and 15 no official source describes.
Forty read, eleven write and fifteen have no individual description. PocketSmith's tool table describes the first two groups; the last fifteen appear only under grouped headings. Names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

What Claude reads (40)
40 toolsForty tools for analysis, budgets, transactions, reference data and deep links into PocketSmith, none of which alters your data.
cash_flow_forecast
Projects account balances forward and adds what PocketSmith calls danger-zone alerts, the points where a projected balance gives reason for concern. PocketSmith ties it to its forecasting engine, which it presents as the way to predict future cashflow.
financial_health_snapshot
Returns an at-a-glance check-up in four parts, as PocketSmith lists them: net worth, spending pace, traffic lights per budget and action items. PocketSmith names these financial health snapshots among the ways the connector keeps your budget in check.
find_recurring_expenses
Detects subscriptions and recurring bills in your data and totals what they cost per year. PocketSmith lists finding recurring expenses among the budget tasks the connector covers, next to reviewing budget performance.
forecast_accuracy
Sets actual balances against forecast balances, which PocketSmith presents as a way to evaluate how reliable your budget is. It looks back at forecasts already made, where the projection tools look ahead.
get_account
Opens one account in detail, including its balance and any child accounts under it. Checking balances is one of the things PocketSmith says the connector lets you do across all your accounts; this tool does it for a single one.
get_attachment
Retrieves one receipt or document attachment stored in PocketSmith. PocketSmith describes it, together with the listing tool, as the way to view attachments; this one returns a single item rather than the whole list.
get_budget
Returns budget analysis per category for the forecast period. It differs from the summary tool, which sets actuals against the budget over a date range you choose; here the period is the forecast one.
get_budget_summary
Sets expense and income actuals against what was budgeted, for a date range. The comparison covers both sides of the ledger, and PocketSmith counts reviewing budget performance among the main uses of the connector.
get_category
Looks up a single category in your hierarchy. PocketSmith groups it with the tool that lists categories, under the heading of viewing your category hierarchy, and mentions reviewing categories among the connector's uses.
get_currency
Returns the reference data for one currency. PocketSmith classes it as currency reference data rather than your own financial records, and its description of the product mentions multi-currency support.
get_current_user
Shows your PocketSmith user profile and settings. PocketSmith documents it on a shared line about the user profile; this one stays on the viewing side and returns what is configured.
get_data_feeds_connection_status
Reports the sync status of your bank feeds along with provider details. Triggering a sync is a different tool, listed in the other group of this page; this one only reports on where each feed stands.
get_event
Opens one budget forecast event. PocketSmith describes these events as recurring or one-off, and as the items that map out your future in its forecasting engine; this tool returns a single one.
get_institution
Retrieves one financial institution from your PocketSmith setup. PocketSmith describes it, together with the listing tool, as viewing financial institutions; this one returns a single institution instead of all of them.
get_transaction
Brings up the full details of a single transaction. Where the search tool returns many lines matching a filter, this one returns everything PocketSmith records about one transaction.
get_transaction_account
Shows one transaction account. PocketSmith documents it on a shared line about viewing transaction accounts; this tool returns the details of one, where the listing tool returns all of them.
get_trend_analysis
Analyses spending trends over time, category by category. PocketSmith lists analysing spending trends across periods among the ways the connector helps keep a budget in check.
list_accounts
Lists every account, either for your user or for one institution. It is the inventory the other account questions start from, and PocketSmith describes investigating patterns across all your accounts as one of the connector's uses.
list_attachments
Enumerates the receipt and document attachments stored in PocketSmith. PocketSmith describes it, together with the single-item tool, as viewing attachments; this one returns the whole list.
list_categories
Returns your category hierarchy as a whole. PocketSmith pairs it with the single-category tool under the heading of viewing your category hierarchy, and reviewing categories is among the uses it names.
list_category_rules
Shows the auto-categorisation rules already set up in your account. PocketSmith documents it on a shared line about categorisation rules; this one returns the existing rules and nothing more.
list_currencies
Returns the full list of currencies PocketSmith uses as reference data, as opposed to the tool that looks up one currency. It is reference material, not part of your own financial records.
list_events
Lists the budget forecast events in your account. PocketSmith treats recurring and one-off events as the items that map out your future, so this list shows what the forecast is built on.
list_institutions
Lists the financial institutions in your PocketSmith setup, as opposed to the tool that opens a single one. PocketSmith describes both as viewing financial institutions, the level under which accounts sit.
list_labels
Returns all the transaction labels in your account. PocketSmith mentions reviewing labels, alongside categories and saved searches, among what the connector lets you do.
list_saved_searches
Shows the transaction search filters you saved in PocketSmith. It returns the list of saved searches, which PocketSmith names among the items the connector lets you review.
list_time_zones
Returns PocketSmith's time zone reference data. Like the currency list, it is reference material rather than your own records, and PocketSmith gives it no other purpose in its table.
list_transaction_accounts
Lists your transaction accounts. PocketSmith documents it on a shared line about transaction accounts; this tool returns all of them, where the single-item tool opens one.
list_transactions
Searches and filters transactions by date, category, keyword or status. PocketSmith puts searching and filtering transactions in plain language first among the connector's uses, before any analysis.
month_end_review
Produces a full review of a period: income and expenses, savings rate, budget variance and top payees, the four elements PocketSmith lists. PocketSmith refers to these monthly reviews among the connector's budget features.
navigate_to_account_summary
Builds a deep link to the Account Summary page in PocketSmith for a given account and month. PocketSmith presents these links as a way to jump straight to the report you describe.
navigate_to_budget
Prepares a link to PocketSmith's budget page, with date settings and other toggles controlled through the link. PocketSmith presents these deep links as a way to jump to the exact report you describe.
navigate_to_calendar
Generates a link to the calendar of scheduled and forecast budget events and balances, with the date range carried by the link. It opens the calendar in PocketSmith itself.
navigate_to_cashflows
Hands you a link to the Cashflows statement, the month-by-month table in PocketSmith. The link leads to the report; the figures themselves are read in PocketSmith, not in the conversation.
navigate_to_income_expense
Points you, through a link, to the Income & Expense report, PocketSmith's profit and loss statement, with filtering, date ranges and other options set by the link.
navigate_to_net_worth
Returns a link to the Net Worth page, with all filtering and other options available through the link. It is the deep-link counterpart of the net worth tools in the conversation.
navigate_to_transactions
Produces a link to a transactions search pre-filtered by account, category, keyword or date. It is the deep-link counterpart of the search tool, opening the result inside PocketSmith.
navigate_to_trends
Opens the way to the Trends report for a category's spending or earning over time, with all toggles available through the link. The report itself is read in PocketSmith.
net_worth_forecast
Charts the net worth trajectory in three parts: the historical trend, the forecast and milestone projections. It uses PocketSmith's forecasting engine.
spending_comparison
Places two date periods side by side, broken down by category and by payee. PocketSmith's description stops at that comparison of two periods.
What Claude can change (11)
11 toolsEleven tools that add, edit, link or delete. PocketSmith says deletions always wait for your explicit approval; for the rest, Claude's general rule applies.
assign_transaction_attachment
Approval: see the ruleLinks an existing attachment, such as a receipt or document, to a transaction. PocketSmith describes it together with its counterpart that undoes the link.
create_category_rule
Approval: see the ruleAdds an auto-categorisation rule to your account. PocketSmith pairs it with the tool that lists existing rules, under one line about viewing and creating them.
create_transaction
Approval: see the ruleAdds a new transaction to your PocketSmith data. PocketSmith's description stops at that: a new transaction, recorded by Claude on your behalf.
delete_forecast_cache
Asks you firstClears the forecast cache to force PocketSmith to recalculate the budget, a step the vendor ties to bulk edits.
delete_transaction
Asks you firstRemoves a transaction from your PocketSmith data. It is one of the two documented tools covered by PocketSmith's rule on deletions.
refresh_data_feeds_connection
Approval: see the ruleTriggers a sync for one bank feed connection or for all of them. PocketSmith counts syncing bank feeds among the ways to keep things tidy.
unassign_transaction_attachment
Approval: see the ruleUnlinks an attachment from a transaction. PocketSmith documents it on the same line as the tool that creates the link.
update_account_display_order
Approval: see the ruleReorders your accounts. PocketSmith's description is that short: it changes the order, and nothing else is documented for it.
update_transaction
Approval: see the ruleEdits a transaction's payee, category, labels, notes or splits. Categorising transactions is one of the tidying tasks PocketSmith highlights for the connector.
update_transaction_account
Approval: see the ruleUpdates a transaction account. PocketSmith documents it on one line with the tools that list and view transaction accounts, under viewing and updating them.
update_user
Approval: see the ruleUpdates your PocketSmith user profile and settings. PocketSmith pairs it with the tool that only views them, on one shared line.
Not documented (15)
15 toolsFifteen tools that PocketSmith only names inside grouped headings. No source describes them one by one, so we do not say what they do.
create_account
PocketSmith names this tool only inside a generic line about accounts, without saying what it does on its own. No official source documents it individually, so this page leaves it unclassified. Claude's general approval rule is the reference if it runs.
create_attachment
Listed on the directory sheet, this entry gets no description of its own anywhere: the vendor bundles it into a single heading about attachments. We do not read its behaviour from the name. Approvals follow the default rule set out below.
create_category
Nothing published explains this tool by itself. PocketSmith mentions it alongside two siblings under one short heading on categories, and that is all. Without a real description, it stays undocumented here, covered by Claude's standard confirmation behaviour. The name alone is not evidence.
create_event
The vendor's table groups this name with others under a heading on budget events and stops there. Lacking any sentence that describes it, we treat it as undocumented. See the approvals section for the rule that governs every such call.
create_institution
Absent from any individual description, this one appears only inside PocketSmith's grouped row on institutions. We decline to say what it touches. If Claude ever calls it, the general approval rule of the next section is what applies. No official source documents it individually.
delete_account
No official source documents this tool individually: PocketSmith lists the name in a shared "Manage accounts" row with two other names, and says nothing about this one alone. This page does not classify it; Claude's general approval rule is the reference if it runs.
delete_attachment
Official sources give this entry a name and a grouped heading on attachments, not a description. We therefore do not classify it and do not read its effect from the name. Claude's general approval rule, set out below, is what applies to any call.
delete_category
Only a grouped heading on categories in PocketSmith's table refers to this tool, so no source describes what it does. This page makes no claim about it. Pending documentation, the general approval rule in the next section is the framework that applies.
delete_event
We found this entry in a combined row on budget events, with no sentence of its own. Its effect is left unstated here. If it runs, Claude's default confirmation behaviour, described in the approvals section, is the one we can point to.
delete_institution
Without an individual description from PocketSmith or Anthropic, this name stays undocumented here: it appears only in a grouped row on institutions. Ask PocketSmith support for anything more precise; meanwhile Claude's general approval rule is the one that applies to any call.
update_account
Mentioned solely within the vendor's grouped row on accounts, this entry has no published explanation. We will not guess its behaviour from wording. Treat it under Claude's default confirmation rule, explained in the approvals block. The vendor's pages contain nothing more on it.
update_attachment
Documentation stops at a shared heading on attachments; this specific tool is never described. It therefore sits in the undocumented group of this page. Any call to it falls under the general approval behaviour of Claude. No individual description exists in any official source.
update_category
PocketSmith's reference bundles this name with two others and gives the group one short label. No official text describes the tool itself, so we leave it unexplained, with Claude's standard approval rule as the only framework. Nothing beyond that heading is on record.
update_event
Published material refers to this tool only through a group heading on budget events. That is not a description, and we do not stretch it into one. The approvals section below says what Claude does by default. Its precise effect remains unpublished.
update_institution
Here too, the vendor's table offers a grouped heading and nothing individual. No source documents this entry, and this page does not interpret it. Should it run, Claude's general approval rule applies, as for every tool on the page. Its precise role is not on record anywhere public.
What Claude asks before acting
By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before any action it takes on an account for you. PocketSmith adds its own promise: deleting anything always requires your explicit approval first.
PocketSmith also says you can ask the assistant to check with you before any other change, and that the read-only mode is the option for anyone who wants a guarantee that nothing is altered. On Team and Enterprise, workspace owners decide whether a member may let some actions through without a fresh prompt, and can limit what a connector may do across the organisation. Claude works with the rights of the person who connected, and PocketSmith notes the assistant never sees your password. Official per-tool labels appear only inside a connected account's settings.
Which plans include it
None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows availability by plan. For PocketSmith, as for every other connector, that answer is published nowhere.
What is published is the general rule: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector for the organisation before members sign in. For the current state of this one, check its sheet in the official directory. Worth knowing: only PocketSmith documents this connector; no Claude help article covers it.
Where this connector stops
A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it replies to you; nothing fires when a transaction arrives or a budget is exceeded.
The directory's verification badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic states on every sheet that it does not choose the tools a publisher exposes or vouch that they behave as described. This connector reaches real financial data and can edit it, so the authorization screen and the approvals deserve your full attention. PocketSmith's documentation, the only source on this connector, adds the points below.
