Claude Everlaw connectorWhat Claude can do in your Everlaw account.

The Claude Everlaw connector exposes 3 tools, all of them read. 3 read, 0 write, 0 undocumented: Claude runs Everlaw searches, pages through the matching documents and lists a project's binders. Here is what it sees, what it cannot touch, and which admins must act first.

Overview

Case documents you can question in plain English

A litigator preparing a deposition normally builds an Everlaw search term by term, then reads hit lists. With the connector, the question goes to Claude in plain English. Everlaw explains that Claude has not ingested the documents beforehand: it relies on keyword and metadata searches (contents, binders, Bates numbers, participants, custodians, dates) to understand them.

Targeted retrieval. A paralegal asks for every email sent by one custodian that mentions a meeting. Claude builds the query and runs it with PostProjectSearch, which returns the hit count, the number of document groups and a search ID.

Reading the hit list. GetProjectSearchResult then pages through the matches with Bates numbers, review links and, on request, metadata or a link to each document's text.

Working from binders. To focus on a curated set, Claude lists the project's binders with GetProjectBinders and restricts its searches to, say, the Important binder before drafting deposition questions.

What it will not do: Everlaw describes the connection as read-only, with no way to change, export or delete documents from Claude, and nothing runs on its own. Claude only searches while it answers you. For recurring exports between systems, see the automation platforms on the Integrations hub.

Vocabulary

Five words before you connect

The Claude terms you will meet below, in a minute.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already have, so Claude can work in it while answering you.
Tool
One named job a connector opens to Claude. Claude picks the ones it needs on its own; the directory sheet lists them by name.
Authorization
Everlaw's own login and consent screen, where you grant Claude its read permissions. Given once per person, revocable later.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it changes something in an account, shown in the conversation when it matters.
MCP
The shared standard behind connectors: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as Everlaw.
Connect

Connect the Claude Everlaw connector in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Everlaw in Claude

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize then Connectors, and look for Everlaw. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner must switch the connector on before members can sign in one by one.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on its row and log in on the Everlaw page that opens. If the link breaks later, Disconnect and connect again, or withdraw the access from your Everlaw account.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Read Everlaw's consent screen before you accept. It is Everlaw's, not Claude's, and it sets what the access covers. Everlaw says it asks for the Platform_read and Data_read permissions, and that the connector then shows Configure instead of Connect.

Tools

The 3 tools, and what each one returns

Everlaw gives Claude 3 tools: 3 that read your account, 0 that change something in it.

Three tools, each documented in Everlaw's developer reference. All three read. Names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

  • 3 read

What Claude reads (3)

3 tools

Three tools that query a project and change nothing in it.

GetProjectSearchResult

Pages through the documents a search matched, sorted by document ID, with Bates or control number, document ID and review link. Optional flags add metadata, a link to the text and AI-extracted values.

When it helps
you want the hits in a table by date and author before choosing which ones to open.
Watch out
results can go stale if documents changed after the first page; rerun the search for fresh ones.

PostProjectSearch

Executes a query in a project and returns how many documents match, how many document groups, a search ID and where to fetch the results. Despite its name, it reads: Everlaw describes the connection as read-only.

When it helps
counting how many emails between two parties mention a contract before a strategy call.
Watch out
Claude does not always treat quotation marks as an exact phrase; say so explicitly.

GetProjectBinders

Lists every binder in a project with its name, ID and owning user, so Claude can scope later searches to a curated set rather than the whole database.

When it helps
the team keeps key exhibits in a Hot Docs binder and you want answers drawn only from it.
Watch out
it needs read access on the project; a binder in a project you cannot open will not show.

Approvals

What Claude asks before acting

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before any action it takes on an account for you. The request appears in the conversation, at the moment it matters.

On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether a member may let some actions through without being asked again. They can also cap what a connector may do for the whole organization, for example keep reading and close writing, and nobody overrides that from their own account. Claude works with your rights and nothing more: Everlaw states that every action runs with the signed-in user's permissions.

Plans

Which plans include it

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory displays availability by plan. Connector by connector, the answer is not published anywhere: it is a real gap in the catalogue.

What is published is the general rule: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector for the organization before members sign in. Check its sheet in the official directory for the current status. Only Everlaw documents this connector; no Claude help article covers it.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude runs these searches while it answers you; nothing fires when new documents are processed into a project.

The tool list is an observed floor, not a promise: an administrator can open actions that no public sheet shows, and Everlaw itself lists more tools than the sheet (see below). The partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic states on every sheet that it does not pick a publisher's tools or guarantee their behavior. If several Everlaw organizations give you access to projects, you can only search those whose organization has enabled OAuth2.

Two official sources disagree

Which tools does the Everlaw connector give Claude?

What this page followsThe two lists do not match, and neither is marked outdated; the sheet, read on 1 October 2026, is the more recent. This page covers the 3 tools on the public sheet; the list actually enabled for you shows under Settings, Connectors, Everlaw in Claude.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude Everlaw connector

01What can Claude do with the Everlaw connector?
Claude can search your Everlaw projects and answer questions about the documents. The directory sheet lists three tools: one runs a search query in a project, one pages through the matching documents with Bates numbers, review links and optional metadata, and one lists the project's binders. Everlaw notes that Claude has not ingested your documents: it uses keyword and metadata searches to understand their contents, and the connection is read-only.
02Can Claude change, export or delete documents in Everlaw?
No. Everlaw states that the connection is read-only, meaning you cannot make changes to, export or delete documents from within Claude. The tool that runs a search may sound like it creates something, but it only executes a query and returns counts. By default the sheet only exposes reading; that is an observed floor rather than a guarantee, since a public sheet does not show everything an administrator might enable.
03Does Claude ask before searching Everlaw?
Claude's default rule is to ask for your approval before any action it takes on an account for you, shown in the conversation. Everlaw's own guide recommends setting its tools to always allow in Claude's connector settings before you start, so searches run without repeated prompts. On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may let actions through and can restrict what the connector does for everyone in the organization.
04Which Claude plans is the Everlaw connector available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets displays it. The general rule is that remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner enabling them first on Team and Enterprise. Everlaw's articles name no Claude plan. Check the connector's sheet in the official directory for its current status on your account.
05Does Claude see every project in our Everlaw organization?
No. Everlaw states that all actions run with the signed-in user's permissions, so searches cover only the projects and documents you can already open. If you work across several organizations, only projects whose owning organization has enabled OAuth2 are searchable. By default Claude also sees search results rather than full document text, unless a Claude Owner allows network egress to Everlaw's storage domain for the whole organization. Ask that Owner first.
06Why can't Claude read the full text of a document it found?
Because full text needs an extra admin setting. With the default connection, Everlaw explains that Claude can access the search results returned, but not the rest of the text within those documents. An Owner or Primary Owner of your Claude organization has to turn on Allow network egress and add Everlaw's document storage domain to the allowed list. That change applies to every user in the organization, so it is a team decision.
07Claude or an automation tool for Everlaw?
They serve different needs, so choose by task rather than by ranking. Claude fits investigative questions in a conversation: finding emails from one custodian, summarizing a binder, preparing a line of questioning for a deposition. It only acts while you are talking to it. An automation platform fits repeated flows that run without you, such as moving data between systems on a schedule. Nothing in this connector runs on its own between two conversations.
