Overview

What the Claude FactSet AI-Ready Data connector changes

FactSet data usually lives behind the terminal and the people who know its screens. With the connector, you ask Claude in plain English: it picks the right dataset, runs the query on your account and comes back with a written answer, plus the figures behind it.

Prep a client meeting fast. Claude pulls a company's profile with FactSet_EntityReference, its financials via FactSet_Fundamentals and the street view from FactSet_EstimatesConsensus.

Make sense of an earnings release. To hear what management said about margins, Claude searches call transcripts with FactSet_UnstructuredContent, then checks the talk against the numbers.

Build a target list. Claude screens the listed universe with FactSet_CompanyScreener, then looks at who holds each name through FactSet_Ownership.

What it will not do: change anything in your FactSet account. The 24 tools on the sheet retrieve or screen data. Which tools you get also depends on your data tier and your firm type. Nothing runs in the background either: Claude queries FactSet while it answers you. Other platforms covered on the site sit on the Integrations hub. It does not trade either: no source describes any order or portfolio action.

Vocabulary

Five words before you connect

The Claude vocabulary around this connector, in a minute.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and a service you already use, so Claude can work with it while it answers you.
Tool
One named capability the connector opens to Claude. Claude picks which ones to call on its own, and the directory sheet lists them.
Authorization
FactSet's own sign-in screen, where you hand Claude the access it will use afterwards. Granted once per person, and revocable.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before an action that changes an account, shown right in the conversation when it matters.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on. It is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as FactSet.
Connect

Connect FactSet AI-Ready Data to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find it in your connectors

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize, then Connectors, and look for FactSet AI-Ready Data. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable it before members can sign in individually.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on its row and sign in through the window FactSet opens itself. If the link ever breaks, use Disconnect and connect again: that is the documented fix.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Go through FactSet's authorization screen before you approve it. The service decides what the access covers, not Claude. You can also revoke that access later from your FactSet account.

Tools

Approvals

What Claude asks before it acts

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before each action it takes on an account for you.

With FactSet, all 24 tools retrieve or screen data, and no source describes anything that changes your account. On Team and Enterprise, owners decide whether members can let certain actions through without being asked again, and they can restrict a connector for the whole organization, for example keep reading and block writing. On FactSet's side, your subscription and firm type decide which tools and data are available.

Plans

Which plans include it

No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets shows it. It is a real gap in the catalog.

What is published is the general rule: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner turns the connector on for the organization before members connect. For this one's current status, check its sheet in the official directory. Worth knowing: only FactSet documents this connector, and no Claude help article covers it.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you, and no alert fires when a consensus number shifts.

By default, the sheet only exposes reading; that is an observed floor, not a guarantee. The directory badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic notes on every sheet that it does not choose a publisher's tools or vouch for how they behave. FactSet cites coverage across 116 countries, but what you see depends on your contract. According to FactSet's changelog, tool descriptions also adapt to your AI-Ready data tier.

FAQ

Claude FactSet AI-Ready Data connector FAQ

01What can Claude do with the FactSet AI-Ready Data connector?
Claude can query the FactSet financial data on your account while it answers you. The 24 tools cover fundamentals, prices since 2006, analyst consensus, ownership, executives, M&A, debt, funds and ETFs, private companies, private equity, banks, power markets, macroeconomics and earnings call transcripts. Two screening tools also help build lists of companies or funds that match your criteria, so you can go from a question to a short list in one conversation.
02Can Claude change data in FactSet?
No, not according to the sources. By default, the connector's sheet only exposes tools that retrieve or screen data, and FactSet's documentation describes no writes. That is not a permanent guarantee, since a read-only sheet is an observed floor. But as published, Claude looks things up, compares and explains. The 24 tools on the sheet fetch data or narrow down lists of companies and funds, and none of them is described as saving anything back.
03Does Claude ask before it queries FactSet?
By default, Claude asks for confirmation before each action it takes on an account on your behalf. With FactSet, all twenty-four tools only retrieve or screen data, and no source describes a confirmation step specific to any of them. On Team and Enterprise, owners decide whether members can let some actions through without being asked again. They can also restrict the connector for the whole organization, and members cannot undo that.
04Which Claude plans include the FactSet AI-Ready Data connector?
No official source publishes plan availability for a specific connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets displays it. The general rule is that remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner enabling the connector first on Team and Enterprise. Only the connector's directory sheet shows its current status for your account, so that is the place to check before relying on it. Any change in availability would show up there first.
05Does Claude see all of FactSet's data?
No. Claude works with your permissions and nothing beyond them, and FactSet tailors the tools on offer to your data tier and firm type. Some datasets, such as private companies, belong to a higher package. FactSet's changelog says tool availability and packaging reflect your firm type and data tier, and that tool descriptions adapt to that tier too. The connector therefore opens nothing beyond what your FactSet contract already covers, and the private company data moved to the Premium package.
06Do I need a FactSet account to use this connector?
Yes. When you connect, Claude sends you to FactSet's login page, where you sign in with single sign-on or your email and password, then enter a verification code sent by email. FactSet also notes that an admin in your organization may need to set the connector up before you can use it. Without FactSet access, none of the tools return any data. Per FactSet, you find the connector by searching its name under Browse Connectors, then click Connect.
07Claude or an automation tool for FactSet data?
They do different jobs, so it depends on the use case. Claude fits when you explore a question in conversation: prepping a meeting, digesting an earnings release, comparing companies, with a written answer at the end. An automation tool fits when an extract has to run by itself on a fixed rule, say every morning. This connector never fires on its own: it queries FactSet while Claude is answering you.
