Overview

What the Claude Guidepoint connector changes for research teams

Instead of logging into Guidepoint and digging through interview transcripts one by one, you ask Claude a research question in plain words. It runs a semantic search over the question-and-answer content Guidepoint draws from its expert calls, then writes its answer around the excerpts it found, with the source transcript linked next to each one.

A first read on a market before a diligence call. An analyst preparing a meeting on mid-market accounting software asks what experts have said about demand and competition. search_library pulls the relevant passages; Claude turns them into a briefing.

Checking a claim against people who were there. A portfolio manager hears that a product category is losing ground. Claude searches teleconferences, analyst discussions and industry conversations for expert answers on that question and quotes them word for word, so you can open each transcript and judge for yourself.

Grounding a memo. Before you circulate an investment note, Claude can pull the expert passages that back up, or contradict, each section.

What it will not do: the directory sheet lists one tool, and it only searches. Guidepoint documents four more actions for its own platform (event search, registrations, sign-up and cancellation), but none of them appears on the Claude sheet, so Claude cannot book you onto an expert call through this connector. Nothing runs by itself either: no alert fires when a new transcript lands. If you need that kind of background job, it belongs to an automation tool, which does a different job; the Integrations hub gathers those.

Vocabulary

Five words before you connect Guidepoint

The vocabulary you will meet while setting this up.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already have, so Claude can work with it while it answers you.
Tool
One named action a connector opens to Claude. Claude picks the ones it needs on its own; the directory lists them by name.
Authorization
The sign-in screen of the service itself, where you hand Claude the access it will use. Given once per person, and revocable.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it goes ahead with something that changes an account, shown in the chat when it matters.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as Guidepoint.
Connect

Connect Guidepoint to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Guidepoint in Claude

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize then Connectors, and look for Guidepoint in the list. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to switch the connector on before members can sign in to it.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on its row. Guidepoint then sends you to its own sign-in page, where you log in with your Guidepoint credentials. If the link ever breaks, use Disconnect and connect again.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Read the authorization screen before you accept. It belongs to Guidepoint, not to Claude, and it is what decides how far the access goes. You can also withdraw that access later from the Guidepoint side.

Tools

The one tool, and what it does

Guidepoint gives Claude 1 tool: 1 that read your account, 0 that change something in it.

The directory sheet names a single tool. Its name stays in English, exactly as Claude shows it.

What Claude reads (1)

1 tool

One search tool that looks through the expert library without changing anything.

search_library

Runs a meaning-based search across expert question-and-answer content that Guidepoint extracts from teleconference transcripts, client calls, analyst discussions and industry conversations. Claude gets back the closest passages and builds its reply from them, quoting rather than paraphrasing.

When it helps
a credit analyst wants to know what former industry operators said about pricing pressure in a niche before she presents a deal to the credit committee.

Approvals

What Claude asks before it acts

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before any action it would carry out on an account for you. Here the only listed tool searches, so in practice the question of confirming a change does not come up with this sheet.

On Team and Enterprise, workspace owners decide whether members may let some actions through without being asked each time, and they can narrow what a connector may do for the whole organization. Members cannot override that from their own account. Claude also works with your rights and nothing more: Guidepoint itself checks authentication, entitlements and access permissions on every request, so the search never reaches content your access does not cover.

Plans

Which plans it is available on

Not one of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows plan availability. The answer connector by connector is published nowhere: a real gap in the catalogue.

The general rule is published: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables a connector for the organization before members connect. For the live status, check the Guidepoint sheet in the official directory. On the Guidepoint side, access also depends on your contract with them.

Limits

Where the Claude Guidepoint connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls this tool while it answers you; nothing starts on its own when an expert call is published.

Only Guidepoint documents this connector: there is no Claude help article about it. A sheet that shows nothing but reading is an observed floor, not a promise, since an administrator can open actions that appear on no public sheet. The partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic says on every sheet that it does not choose the tools a publisher exposes or guarantee how they behave. Connect it only if you trust the publisher, here Guidepoint itself.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude Guidepoint connector

01What can Claude do with the Guidepoint connector?
Claude can search Guidepoint's expert library from inside a conversation. Its single listed tool runs a semantic search across question-and-answer content taken from teleconferences, client calls, analyst discussions and industry conversations. Claude then answers with verbatim excerpts and links each one to its source transcript, so you can check the context yourself. Everything it returns comes from what your Guidepoint contract already gives you access to. The listed tool only searches.
02Can Claude register me for a Guidepoint expert call?
Not through this connector as listed today. The directory sheet exposes one tool, and that tool only searches. Guidepoint's developer portal describes registering for and cancelling events, but those actions are not on the Claude sheet. A sheet limited to reading is a floor rather than a ceiling, though: an administrator can open actions that never appear on a public sheet, so it is worth checking your own connector settings before you assume either way.
03Does Claude ask before it acts?
By default, yes: Claude asks for confirmation before any action it would take on an account for you. With this connector the only listed tool reads, so you will mostly see searches run as Claude answers. No source describes a confirmation specific to search_library. On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members can skip some confirmations and can restrict what the connector may do for everyone. Those owner settings apply to every member.
04Which Claude plans is the Guidepoint connector available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the directory sheets displays it. The general rule says remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, and that an Owner or Primary Owner enables them first on Team and Enterprise. The connector's own sheet in the directory is the only place that shows its current status for your account. On the Guidepoint side, your contract also has to cover access.
05Does Claude see everything in our Guidepoint account?
No, it does not. Claude works with the rights of the person who connected and nothing more. Guidepoint checks authentication, entitlements and access permissions on every request before it returns transcript content, so a colleague with a narrower contract scope gets narrower results. Each person also signs in individually on Guidepoint's own sign-in page, so one teammate's access never carries over to another. On Team and Enterprise, owners can also restrict what the connector may do for the whole organization.
06Why can't Claude find an expert call that just happened?
Most likely because the transcript does not exist yet. Guidepoint says a finished event needs 24 to 48 hours before it is transcribed and made available, and that some transcripts stay under an embargo set case by case. Until that point, search_library simply has nothing to return for that call. The turnaround figure comes from Guidepoint's developer portal FAQ, written for its content API. Run the same search again later.
07Should I use Claude or an automation tool with Guidepoint?
They answer different needs, so it is not a ranking. Claude with this connector fits ad hoc research: you ask a question, it searches the expert library and answers with sourced quotes. An automation tool fits work that must run on its own, on a schedule or after an event. The connector does not fire by itself when new content arrives, so anything unattended belongs on the automation side. In a conversation, Guidepoint returns structured results and Claude writes the answer from them.
