Claude Mem connectorWhat Claude can do in your Mem account.
The Claude Mem connector exposes 15 tools. 6 of them read your notes and collections, 8 change them, and 1 is listed with no description anywhere. Below: what Claude finds in your notebook, what it can file or discard, and what Mem advises before any deletion.

What changes once Claude can reach your Mem notebook
A notebook only helps if you can find things in it and keep it tidy. With this connector, Claude searches your Mem notes by meaning, reads the ones that matter, and can save a conversation as a new note or rework an existing one. You ask in plain words; Claude picks among the fifteen tools the directory lists for Mem.
Start from what you already wrote. Before a pricing workshop, a founder asks Claude to gather earlier thinking: search_notes finds the relevant notes and get_note opens each one in full, so the discussion starts from decisions already on paper.
Keep a chat as a note. After a long research exchange, create_note saves the outcome as a new note, and add_note_to_collection files it in the right collection, for example your go-to-market one.
Tidy without losing anything. trash_note moves an outdated note to trash rather than erasing it, and restore_note brings it back if you change your mind.
What it will not do: update_note replaces the whole body of a note, not a single paragraph, and a trashed note must be restored before any edit. Removing a collection is permanent. One tool on the sheet has no description in any source, so this page stays silent about it. And nothing runs by itself when a note is added: a background job on that event is an automation tool's work, a different trade covered by the Integrations hub.
Five words before you connect
The vocabulary Claude uses around this connector, quickly.
- Connector
- The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already own, so Claude can work in that account while it answers.
- Tool
- One named action a connector lets Claude take. Claude chooses the tools it needs by itself, and the directory lists each one by name.
- Authorization
- The login screen of the service itself, where you give Claude the access it will use. Granted once per person, and revocable.
- Approval
- The confirmation Claude waits for before doing something that changes your account, shown in the conversation when it matters.
- MCP
- The shared standard connectors are built on, which is what lets an assistant such as Claude talk to an outside service like Mem.
Connect Mem to Claude in three steps
- 01
Find Mem in Claude
Open Claude's settings, go to Customize and then Connectors, and look for Mem in the list. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner switches the connector on before each member can sign in.
- 02
Start the connection
Click Connect on its row, then sign in to the Mem workspace you mean to use in the window Mem opens. If the link breaks later, use Disconnect and connect again.
- 03
Review the authorization screen
Read the authorization screen before you accept. It belongs to Mem, not to Claude, and it sets what the access covers. You can withdraw that access later from your Mem account as well.
The 15 tools, split by what they do
Mem gives Claude 15 tools: 6 that read your account, 8 that change something in it, and 1 no official source describes.
Three groups: what Claude reads, what it changes, and the one tool no official source describes. Tool names stay exactly as Claude displays them.

What Claude reads (6)
6 toolsSix tools that look at notes and collections and leave them untouched.
list_notes
Walks through all the notes you can access, page by page, with cursor pagination. Claude uses it when order matters more than relevance.
search_notes
Looks up notes from a free-text query plus filters, ranked by relevance. Mem describes the result as a bounded snapshot of the search.
get_note
Fetches one note in its full current state from its ID, the step after a search when Claude needs the whole text. A note sitting in trash still comes back, flagged with its trash date.
list_collections
Pages through the collections you can see, with cursor pagination, so Claude knows how your notebook is organised, and under which names, before it files anything.
search_collections
Finds collections by free-text relevance and returns a bounded list, without further pages. Handy when you remember roughly what a collection is about but not its exact name or when it was made.
get_collection
Returns the metadata of one collection from its ID. Mem is explicit that this does not include the list of notes inside it.
What Claude changes (8)
8 toolsEight tools that alter your notebook. No source details their confirmation, so the general rule below applies.
create_note
Approval: see the ruleAdds a new note to your Mem, optionally already linked to collections. The first line of the content becomes its title, and Mem generates an ID if none is given.
update_note
Approval: see the ruleReplaces the full markdown body of an existing note with a new version, tied to the exact version being edited. Its first line becomes the refreshed title.
trash_note
Approval: see the ruleSends a note to Mem's trash, a soft delete that can be reversed. The note stops appearing among your active notes but is not gone.
restore_note
Approval: see the ruleBrings a previously trashed note back among your active notes. It only reverses the trash step and touches nothing else in the note.
create_collection
Approval: see the ruleSets up a new collection in your notebook. If you pass an ID that already exists, Mem refuses with a conflict instead of overwriting.
delete_collection
Approval: see the rulePermanently erases a collection resource from Mem. This is a hard delete, unlike the trash used for notes.
add_note_to_collection
Approval: see the ruleLinks an existing note to an existing collection. It only creates the membership; neither the note's text nor the collection's details are touched.
remove_note_from_collection
Approval: see the ruleTakes a note out of a collection while keeping both. Only the link between them disappears; the note stays among your notes.
Undocumented (1)
1 toolThe directory publishes this name and nothing more. No official text says what it does, and we will not guess it from its name.
delete_note
This name sits in the directory's tool list, but Mem's tool reference does not describe it and no Claude page does either, so this page says nothing about what it does.
What Claude checks with you first
By default, Claude stops and asks before each action it takes on an account on someone's behalf, with the prompt shown in the conversation.
On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether a member may let some actions through without being asked every time. They can also restrict what a connector does for the whole organization, for instance keeping reading and closing writing, and nobody overrides that from a personal account. Claude acts with the rights of the person who connected and nothing more. Mem's own security page asks you to keep approval steps on for destructive actions and to review tool calls before they run, since injected instructions may try to misuse them.
Which plans include it
None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows plan availability, so the answer for Mem is published nowhere.
Anthropic publishes the general rule: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector before members connect one by one. For the live state of Mem on your account, open its sheet in the official directory.
Where this connector stops
A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you, so nothing is filed or cleaned up on its own when a note arrives.
This connector is documented by its publisher only: no page of Claude's help center covers it. The tool list is an observed floor, not a promise, since an administrator can open actions that no public sheet shows. The partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic says on every sheet that it does not choose the tools a publisher exposes nor guarantee how they behave. Mem also warns that injected instructions can try to push an agent to leak or alter data. For another workspace seen through the same grid, see the Claude airtable connector.
