What you can automate

What does the aico Make integration let you automate?

The aico Make integration links your aico account to Make, a visual tool where you chain apps into a scenario (the automation you build, brick by brick). Each brick is a module. For aico you get 13 of them, all actions or searches, so another app or a schedule decides when the work starts.

Every new lead lands in aico with a follow-up task. A form or a shop sends the person into Make, Create a contact records them, and Create a task reminds a salesperson to call back. Nobody retypes a name.

Your catalog stays in sync. When a product changes in the tool where your team edits it, List products or Get a product reads what aico already holds, and Create a product adds what is missing.

Company records follow the facts. A signed deal or a new address in another app can run Update a company or Update a contact, so the record your team opens is the current one. Fetch Customers By Marketinglist pulls the people of a list when you want to send them somewhere else.

Be aware of one limit: Make itself says its documentation for aico is incomplete, because little public information exists about the app. Test each module with real data before you rely on it. If you are new to the editor, the Make training walks through the basics, and the Make review covers the tool as a whole. Many apps also have an n8n node; if you are weighing both tools, read n8n vs Make.

Connect

How do you connect your aico account to Make?

  1. 01

    Add an aico module

In your scenario, click the +, type aico and pick any module, for example Create a contact. Then click Create a connection. A connection is your aico account linked to Make once and reused by every aico module.

  2. 02

    Name the connection

Giving it a name is optional, yet it helps as soon as you manage two aico accounts, say a test one and a live one. Pick something your colleagues will recognize when they open the scenario later.

  3. 03

    Authorize and save

Depending on what aico asks, approve Make on the aico page that opens or paste the key aico gives you. Click Save. Make can now read and write in aico on your behalf.

First scenario

Your first scenario with aico

GoalWhen a new lead arrives in another app, Make creates the contact in aico and adds a follow-up task for your team.

  1. 01

    Create the scenario

On the Scenarios page, create a new scenario and click the +. Start with the app where your leads arrive, since aico has no trigger of its own.

  2. 02

    Add Create a contact

Click the + on the right of the first module, search aico and pick Create a contact. Link your account with Create a connection, then map the lead's details from the previous module.

  3. 03

    Add Create a task

Add one more module: Create a task. Fill it with what the salesperson must do and reuse data from the contact step, so the task clearly points to the right person.

  4. 04

    Test with Run once

Click Run once, then send a test lead. Open each module's bubble to read the bundles it received (a bundle is one item passing from a module to the next), and check the contact in aico.

  5. 05

    Schedule and switch on

Set the schedule on the first module. A new scenario checks every 15 minutes by default, and the Free plan cannot go lower. Then switch the scenario on.

Modules

What each aico module does

aico gives you 13 modules. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

aico1

Create a company

ActionIn the docs only

Adds a new company record to aico, so an account signed or spotted elsewhere exists in your system without anyone typing it again.

When to use it
a deal is marked won in your sales tool and the client organization has to appear in aico.
Watch out
run a search first when the company may already exist, or you will end up with two records.
aico2

Create a contact

ActionIn the docs only

Records a new person in aico from data another module hands over. It is the usual entry point for leads coming from forms, shops or chat tools.

When to use it
someone fills your website form and should become a contact your team can follow up on.
Watch out
each run creates one contact per bundle, so a repeated submission means a duplicate unless you check with List contacts first.
aico3

Create a product

ActionIn the docs only

Adds an item to your aico product list, which saves you from keeping two catalogs by hand when your products are born in another tool.

When to use it
a new reference goes live in your shop or spreadsheet and aico should know about it too.
Watch out
pair it with List products or Get a product when the same item may already be there.
aico4

Create a task

ActionIn the docs only

Puts a to-do in aico, so a follow-up never depends on someone remembering it. The task is created from whatever happened earlier in the scenario.

When to use it
right after Create a contact, to ask a colleague to call the new lead.
Watch out
write the task text from mapped data rather than fixed words, or every task will look the same in aico.
aico5

Fetch Customers By Marketinglist

ActionIn the docs only

Pulls the customers attached to one marketing list in aico, which is handy when a campaign audience should travel to another tool.

When to use it
you prepared a list in aico and want its people sent to your mailing app or a shared sheet.
Watch out
the name does not say how many customers come out per run, so check the bundles in Run once before adding the next module.
aico6

Get a product

ActionIn the docs only

Reads a single product you already know how to identify, and hands its details to the next module. You get one clean record instead of a list to sort.

When to use it
an order in another app names a product and you need the matching aico record to fill a document or a message.
Watch out
if you do not know which product yet, List products is the better starting point.
aico7

List contacts

SearchIn the docs only

Returns the people stored in aico, each one as a separate bundle the next module can work on. It is a search, so it may return zero, one or many results.

When to use it
before Create a contact, to check whether a person already exists.
Watch out
every contact found makes the following modules run once more, and each run counts as operations on your plan.
aico8

List contacts and companies

SearchIn the docs only

Searches people and organizations together, which saves a second search when your data mixes both. You receive the matches as bundles.

When to use it
an email or a name comes in and you cannot tell yet if it belongs to a person or a company in aico.
Watch out
later modules may receive both kinds of record, so add a filter if one of them only fits contacts.
aico9

List products

SearchIn the docs only

Brings back the products held in aico, one bundle each, so you can compare them with another catalog or copy them to a report.

When to use it
you want to know whether an item exists before Create a product adds it.
Watch out
a large catalog means many bundles and as many operations for each module placed after this search.
aico10

List tasks

SearchIn the docs only

Gathers the tasks recorded in aico, which lets you report on them or push them to a tool your team checks more often.

When to use it
a manager wants open follow-ups copied to a shared sheet or posted in a team chat.
Watch out
like any search, it can return nothing at all; plan what the scenario should do when the result is empty.
aico11

Make an API Call

ActionIn the docs only

Calls any endpoint of the aico API with the connection you already set up. It is the way out when none of the other 12 modules does what you need.

When to use it
you need a record type or an operation that the listed modules do not cover.
Watch out
you must know the aico API yourself, since Make gives little documentation for this app.
aico12

Update a company

ActionIn the docs only

Changes an existing company in aico, so the record keeps up when something moves in another tool. You edit what exists instead of creating a copy.

When to use it
a client changes address or status in your billing app and aico should reflect it.
Watch out
the module needs to know which company to change; find it first with List contacts and companies.
aico13

Update a contact

ActionIn the docs only

Edits a person already stored in aico with fresh data, keeping a single, current record per person instead of a pile of versions.

When to use it
a lead gives a new phone number or job title through a form and your team should see it in aico.
Watch out
an update overwrites what was there, so map only the values you really want to replace.

FAQ

Questions about aico and Make

01Is the aico Make integration free?
Yes, aico is a standard app in Make, so it works from the Free plan. That plan lets you keep 2 active scenarios, runs them no more often than every 15 minutes, limits each run to 5 minutes and caps files at 5 MB. Make counts every module execution as an operation against your plan. Paid plans such as Core, Pro and Teams lower the interval to 1 minute and remove the cap on active scenarios. What aico itself costs is a separate question that this page does not cover.
02What do you need to connect aico to Make?
You need an aico account and a Make account. Make does not list any prerequisite for aico and gives no official connection steps, so you follow the generic path: add an aico module, click Create a connection, optionally name it, then approve Make on the aico page or paste the key aico provides, and click Save. The connection is then shared by all 13 aico modules in your scenarios. If the screen asks for something unexpected, check with whoever manages your aico account.
03Can aico start a Make scenario in real time?
No, aico has no trigger module in Make, so it cannot start a scenario on its own. You have two ways to start one anyway. Put another app's trigger first, for instance a form or a shop that reports a new order, and let aico modules follow. Or run the scenario on a schedule set on its first module: every 15 minutes by default, down to 1 minute on paid plans. In both cases the aico modules then act on each bundle they receive.
04What if an aico module is missing in Make?
It depends on what you need, but Make an API Call is the first place to look. It reuses your aico connection and can reach any endpoint of the aico API, so an operation absent from the 13 listed modules is often still possible. The catch is that Make admits its documentation for aico is limited, so you need to know the aico API yourself. When that is not realistic, check whether another app in your stack can handle the step instead.
05Should you use Make or n8n for aico?
It depends on the tool your team already knows and on the modules you need. In Make, aico comes with 13 ready modules for contacts, companies, products and tasks, plus Make an API Call for the rest. Many apps also have an n8n node, so check whether aico has one and compare what it covers with the list above. Pick the tool where the steps you need already exist, then test them with real aico data before going live.
