What you can automate

What can the Grimp Make integration do for you?

The Grimp Make integration lets a Make scenario (the automation you build, a chain of steps) write to Grimp for you: send a lead, invite or disable a student, publish a job post, look up job posts. Grimp has no trigger in Make, so something else starts the flow, another app or a schedule.

Leads that arrive without retyping. A prospect fills a form in the tool you already use; Push a Lead sends the answers straight to Grimp, so admissions sees the contact without a copy and paste.

Onboarding that follows the enrollment. When a signed enrollment shows up in your CRM, Invite a Student sends the Grimp invitation. At the other end of the year, Disable a Student closes the access of someone who left the program.

Job offers published once. A partner company sends a position through a shared sheet; Search Job Posts checks it is not already online, then Create a Job Post publishes it.

One honest limit: Make says its own documentation for Grimp is incomplete, because little public information exists about the app. Expect to discover each module's fields in the editor, and keep Make troubleshooting close for the first runs. If you are weighing both tools, the n8n vs Make comparison lays out the criteria, and our Make review covers the editor in detail.

Connect

How do you connect Grimp to Make?

  1. 01

    Open a Grimp module

In a scenario, add any Grimp module, for instance Push a Lead, and click Create a connection. A connection is your Grimp account linked to Make once, then reused by every Grimp module.

  2. 02

    Name it and authorize

Give the connection a name you will recognize later, such as the school or campus it belongs to. Then either approve Make on the Grimp page that opens, or paste the key Grimp gives you, depending on what the window asks for.

  3. 03

    Save and check

Click Save. Back in the module, Make now fills its lists with what it can read from your account. An empty list usually means the authorization did not go through; create the connection again.

First scenario

Your first scenario with Grimp

GoalWhen a prospect submits a form in another app, Make sends that person to Grimp as a lead.

  1. 01

    Create the scenario

From the Scenarios page, create a new scenario and click the +. Pick the module of the app that collects your prospects, your form tool for example, and connect it.

  2. 02

    Add Push a Lead

Click the + on the right of that first module, search for Grimp and choose Push a Lead. Select your Grimp connection or create it now.

  3. 03

    Map the answers

Fill the fields of Push a Lead by clicking the values the previous module offers, whatever the form collects. Each submission travels as one bundle, one item passing from a module to the next.

  4. 04

    Test with Run once

Submit a test entry in your form, then click Run once. Open the bubble above each module to read the bundles it received, and check in Grimp that the lead appeared.

  5. 05

    Schedule and switch on

Set the clock on the first module (every 15 minutes by default) and turn the scenario on. Each module run counts as one operation, the unit Make bills on your plan.

Modules

What each Grimp module does

Grimp gives you 7 modules. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

Grimp1

Create a Job Post

ActionIn the docs only

Publishes a new job offer in Grimp from data another app holds, so a position shared by a partner company reaches your students without anyone retyping it.

When to use it
a recruiter adds a row to a shared sheet and you want the offer online right after.
Watch out
put Search Job Posts in front of it if the same offer can arrive twice, or you will publish duplicates.
Grimp2

Disable a Student

ActionIn the docs only

Closes a student's access in Grimp the moment your records say that person has left, which keeps the platform clean without a manual sweep.

When to use it
a withdrawal or a finished program is recorded in your CRM or your student sheet.
Watch out
test it on a dummy account first with Run once; the Make doc does not say whether the change can be reversed from the scenario.
Grimp3

Get Campuses and Programs Metadata

ActionIn the docs only

Returns the reference data Grimp holds on your campuses and programs, the values other modules may ask you to pick. Judging by its name, it is a lookup step rather than a change.

When to use it
before Invite a Student or Push a Lead, when you need the right campus or program to map instead of typing it.
Watch out
run it once alone and read the bundle, since the documentation does not describe what comes back.
Grimp4

Invite a Student

ActionIn the docs only

Sends a student an invitation to join Grimp, straight from the moment an enrollment is confirmed elsewhere. The new student gets access without admissions opening Grimp.

When to use it
an enrollment is marked as signed in your CRM, or a payment is confirmed in your billing tool.
Watch out
add a filter on the enrollment status so a draft record never triggers an invitation by mistake.
Grimp5

Make an API Call

ActionIn the docs only

Reaches any part of the Grimp API that the six other modules leave out, with the same connection you already set up. It is the escape hatch when a listed module does not cover your case.

When to use it
you need an operation of the Grimp API that has no dedicated module in Make.
Watch out
you write the request yourself and Make's doc gives no detail for this app, so test each call alone with Run once.
Grimp6

Push a Lead

ActionIn the docs only

Hands a new prospect to Grimp as a lead, whatever tool captured the person: a form, an ad platform, a chat. Your team finds every contact in one place.

When to use it
someone requests a brochure or books an info session in another app.
Watch out
send one test submission with Run once and check the lead in Grimp before switching the scenario on.
Grimp7

Search Job Posts

SearchIn the docs only

Looks through the job posts already in Grimp and gives you back the matches, so your scenario can decide what to do next. As a search, it can return none, one or several bundles.

When to use it
before Create a Job Post, to skip an offer that is already published.
Watch out
when several posts match, the next modules run once per post; add a filter if you only want the first.

FAQ

Questions about the Grimp Make integration

01Is the Grimp Make integration free?
Yes, Grimp is a standard app in Make, so it works on the Free plan. That plan has limits worth knowing before you build: 2 active scenarios, at least 15 minutes between two scheduled runs, 5 minutes of execution per run, files up to 5 MB and 512 MB of data transfer. Paid plans (Core, Pro, Teams, Enterprise) bring the interval down to 1 minute, remove the cap on active scenarios and allow 40 minutes of execution. Usage is counted in operations, one per module run, so a scenario with two modules uses two operations for each bundle it processes.
02What do you need to connect Grimp to Make?
A Grimp account with access to the data you want to automate, and a Make account. Make's documentation lists no specific prerequisite for Grimp. You add a Grimp module, click Create a connection, name it if you like, then either approve Make on Grimp's page or paste the key Grimp provides, and save. Because the official documentation is limited for this app, check the connection right away by running one module alone with Run once and reading what comes back before you build the rest of the scenario.
03Does Grimp trigger Make scenarios in real time?
No, Grimp has no trigger module in Make, neither scheduled nor instant. A scenario that writes to Grimp starts somewhere else. The usual option is the trigger of another app: a form submission, a new CRM deal, a new row in a sheet. If that trigger is instant, the other app calls Make as soon as the event happens and Grimp is updated right after. You can also run the scenario on a schedule from the clock on the first module, every 15 minutes by default, or at least every minute on a paid plan.
04What if a Grimp module is missing in Make?
Use Make an API Call. It calls any endpoint of the Grimp API with the connection you already have, so an operation without a dedicated module is still reachable from the scenario. You write the request yourself, and Make states its documentation for this app is incomplete, so start small. Test each call with Run once and inspect the returned bundle before mapping its values into the next module. If the need sits outside Grimp, another app module placed before or after it usually covers it.
05Make or n8n for Grimp?
It depends on what you already run and what the automation needs. In Make, Grimp comes with seven modules: six actions, one search and Make an API Call among them, but no trigger, so another app always starts the flow. The same app often exists as a node in n8n as well; check whether it does and which operations it offers before choosing. Compare the modules each tool gives you for your exact case, the tool your team already knows, and how each counts usage on its plans.
