What you can automate

What can the Haloscan by Sequance Make integration do for you?

The Haloscan by Sequance Make integration lets Make ask Haloscan for SEO data (keywords, SERPs, domains, competitors, expired domains) and pass the answer to your other tools. A scenario is the automation you build in Make, a chain of modules; a module is one brick of that chain. You pick the modules, Make runs them for you.

A keyword brief that fills itself. When a writer adds a topic to your planning tool, Get a Keyword Overview fetches the data for it and Get a Keyword Question adds the questions people ask around it. The brief lands in the sheet or the doc your team already reads.

A competitor watch for a client domain. Get a Domain's Competitors names the sites that fight for the same queries, then Get a Competitor's Best Pages shows which of their pages pull the most weight. Useful for an agency preparing an audit.

A shortlist of expired domains. Get an Expired Domains and Reveal an Expired Domains can feed a table you review before buying anything.

A few honest limits. Make's documentation names these 33 modules without describing them, so the notes below read what each name announces: always check the returned data with Run once before you rely on it. The documentation also warns that its own text is AI-generated and may contain errors, so verify anything important with Haloscan by Sequance directly. None of these modules is a trigger, which means Haloscan never starts a scenario by itself.

If you are still weighing tools, the n8n vs Make comparison and the Make pricing guide help you decide, and the Make training covers scenario design in depth.

Connect

How do you connect your Haloscan by Sequance account to Make?

  1. 01

Copy your API key from Haloscan

You need an active Sequance account and an API key. Log in to Haloscan by Sequance, open the area where API access or integrations are managed, then generate or display your key and copy it. Keep it private: anyone holding it can query your account.

  2. 02

Add a Haloscan module and open the connection

In your Make scenario, add any Haloscan by Sequance module and click Create a connection. A connection is your Haloscan account linked to Make once, then reused by all 33 modules. The Connection name field is optional, but a clear name helps later.

  3. 03

    Paste the key and save

Paste the API key you copied into the credentials field, or follow the instructions Make shows on screen, then save. The module can now talk to Haloscan, and Make can list what your account gives access to when you fill the fields.

First scenario

Build your first scenario with Haloscan by Sequance

GoalWhen a new keyword appears in the tool where your team plans content, Make fetches its Haloscan overview and the questions searchers ask about it.

  1. 01

    Create the scenario

Open the Scenarios page, create a new scenario and click the + to add the first module. Since Haloscan has no trigger, this first module comes from the app where your keywords live, a sheet or a form for example.

  2. 02

    Add Get a Keyword Overview

Click the + on the right of that first module, search for Haloscan by Sequance and pick Get a Keyword Overview. Create the connection with your API key, then map the keyword coming from the previous module into it.

  3. 03

    Chain Get a Keyword Question

Click the + again and add Get a Keyword Question, reusing the same connection. Map the same keyword. You now have the numbers and the questions for one topic, ready for your brief.

  4. 04

    Test with Run once

Click Run once. Make runs the scenario one time and shows the bundles each module received (a bundle is one item passed from a module to the next). Read them to see which data Haloscan returns before you send it anywhere.

  5. 05

Schedule it and switch it on

Add the destination with a last +, then set the schedule on the first module (every 15 minutes by default for a new scenario) and switch the scenario on. Each module run on a bundle counts as one operation on your Make plan.

Modules

The 33 Haloscan by Sequance modules in Make

Haloscan by Sequance gives you 33 modules. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

Haloscan by Sequance1

Compare a Domain's Keywords with Competitors

ActionIn the docs only

You get a side-by-side of your domain's keywords and those of competing sites, which is the comparison this module's name announces. It is the quickest way to spot topics rivals cover and you do not.

When to use it
before planning new articles for a client site, to base the plan on real gaps instead of guesses.
Watch out
the output can be long, so run it once and look at the bundle before mapping anything.
Haloscan by Sequance2

Compare a Keywords SERP

ActionIn the docs only

This one lines up search result pages for a keyword so you can see what changed or what differs between them, going by its name. Handy when a page drops and you want the context before touching the content.

When to use it
after a ranking alert from another tool, to add the SERP comparison to the same ticket.
Watch out
the documentation gives no field list, so let Make show you the options once the connection exists.
Haloscan by Sequance3

Find a Keyword

SearchIn the docs only

A search module that looks a keyword up in Haloscan and returns what it finds. Like every search in Make, it can return zero, one or several bundles, and each following module runs once per bundle.

When to use it
at the start of a flow, to check a term exists in Haloscan before asking for more detail.
Watch out
several results mean several operations downstream, so add a filter if you only want the first.
Haloscan by Sequance4

Find a Keyword Synonym

SearchIn the docs only

Synonyms of a keyword come back as a list you can drop into a brief, if the name holds. Writers get alternative wording without leaving their document, and you avoid stuffing the same phrase everywhere.

When to use it
when a new article is assigned, to hand the writer vocabulary along with the main term.
Watch out
as a search, it may return nothing for a rare term; plan what the scenario does with an empty result.
Haloscan by Sequance5

Find a Keywords Match

SearchIn the docs only

Its name points to keywords that contain or match the term you give, which widens one seed into a family of queries. Good raw material for a topic cluster.

When to use it
when a product or service page is created, to collect the variations people actually type.
Watch out
a search can return many bundles, and each one costs an operation in the next modules; an aggregator or a filter keeps the count under control.
Haloscan by Sequance7

Find a Similar Keyword

SearchIn the docs only

Close variants of a keyword, judging by the name, so you can catch spellings and phrasings that target the same intent. Useful to avoid two pages fighting for the same query.

When to use it
before publishing a new page, to check it does not overlap with an existing one.
Watch out
this is a search, so zero results is a normal outcome; route that case instead of letting the scenario stop there.
Haloscan by Sequance8

Get a Competitor's Best Pages

ActionIn the docs only

You see which pages of a competing site perform best, as the module name promises. That tells you where a rival gets its traffic and which formats seem to work in your market.

When to use it
right after Get a Domain's Competitors, to dig into each name it returned.
Watch out
chaining it after a list of competitors multiplies the runs, one per competitor, so check your operation budget first.
Haloscan by Sequance9

Get a Domain Overview

ActionIn the docs only

A snapshot of a domain in Haloscan, the kind of summary you would open first when a new client arrives. The name says overview, so expect headline data rather than page-level detail.

When to use it
when a prospect fills your contact form with a website, to attach its SEO summary to the lead.
Watch out
the documentation lists no fields for it; read the bundle in Run once to see what you can map.
Haloscan by Sequance11

Get a Domain's Competitors

ActionIn the docs only

Names of the sites competing with a domain on search, which gives you a ready starting list for any competitive study. No more building that list by hand from memory.

When to use it
at the kickoff of a new SEO project, to seed the competitor table the team will work from.
Watch out
it is typed as an action but may still return a list; check in Run once whether you need an iterator to handle each competitor.
Haloscan by Sequance12

Get a Domain's Data in Bulk

ActionIn the docs only

Several domains in one request instead of one module run per site, if the bulk in its name means what it says. That keeps a scenario shorter when you handle a whole portfolio.

When to use it
when a list of client or partner sites lands in a sheet and you want their data in one go.
Watch out
the documentation gives no size limit for the batch, so start small and check the response.
Haloscan by Sequance14

Get a Domain's Position History

ActionIn the docs only

How a domain's rankings moved over time, which is the history this module is named after. You can then explain a traffic change with dates instead of impressions.

When to use it
when a client asks why traffic dipped, to attach the ranking history to your answer.
Watch out
history data can be heavy; send it to a sheet or a database rather than into a chat message.
Haloscan by Sequance15

Get a Domain's Top Pages

ActionIn the docs only

The pages of your own domain that carry the most search weight, as the name indicates. Knowing them tells you which URLs to protect during a redesign.

When to use it
before a site migration, to list the pages that must keep their URLs and content.
Watch out
do not confuse it with Get a Competitor's Best Pages, which looks at another site; both exist for a reason.
Haloscan by Sequance17

Get a History of a Domain's Pages

ActionIn the docs only

A timeline of a domain's pages, based on the name, so you can see which URLs appeared or disappeared from search. Useful to catch pages lost after a clean-up.

When to use it
after a content pruning or a migration, to check nothing valuable vanished.
Watch out
this is page-level history, unlike Get a Domain's Position History which follows rankings; pick the one that answers your question.
Haloscan by Sequance18

Get a Keyword Data from an URL

ActionIn the docs only

Give it a page address and it should return the keyword data tied to that URL. That answers the classic question of what a given page actually ranks for.

When to use it
when a page is published or updated in your CMS, to log its keywords automatically.
Watch out
the URL you map must be the exact published address; test with a live page in Run once.
Haloscan by Sequance19

Get a Keyword Data in Bulk

ActionIn the docs only

Data for a batch of keywords in one module run, which the bulk in its name suggests. Fewer runs mean fewer operations than looping a single-keyword module over a long list.

When to use it
when a keyword list is pasted into a sheet after a brainstorm, to enrich all of it at once.
Watch out
the documentation states no batch limit; check the response on a short list before sending a big one.
Haloscan by Sequance20

Get a Keyword Highlight

ActionIn the docs only

Highlights for a keyword, which the name leaves open: run it once to see exactly what Haloscan returns before building on it. It is the module to test, not to assume.

When to use it
when you want a short summary of a term to drop into a brief or a chat alert.
Watch out
without a description in the documentation, confirm the output matches your need before wiring it into a live scenario.
Haloscan by Sequance21

Get a Keyword Overview

ActionIn the docs only

The main data for one keyword in a single step, the natural starting point for any brief. It is the module used in the first scenario on this page.

When to use it
as soon as a writer is assigned a topic, to hand over the key figures with the assignment.
Watch out
map a clean keyword without extra spaces or quotes, or the lookup may not match what you expect.
Haloscan by Sequance22

Get a Keyword Question

ActionIn the docs only

Questions that searchers ask around a keyword, going by the name. They make ready-made FAQ ideas and subheadings for your content.

When to use it
after Get a Keyword Overview, to add a question list to the same brief.
Watch out
the result may be a list; if you want one row per question in a sheet, check the bundle shape in Run once first.
Haloscan by Sequance23

Get a Keyword's Available Dates from SERP

ActionIn the docs only

The dates for which Haloscan holds SERP snapshots of a keyword, per the module name. You need them before asking for a comparison between two points in time.

When to use it
right before Compare a Keywords SERP or Get a Keyword's SERP Page Evolution, to pick valid dates.
Watch out
asking for a date Haloscan does not hold is a common cause of empty results downstream.
Haloscan by Sequance24

Get a Keyword's SERP Page Evolution

ActionIn the docs only

How the result page of a keyword evolved, which pages entered and which left, if the name holds. It explains volatility better than a single ranking number.

When to use it
when a strategic keyword moves sharply, to document what happened on the whole page.
Watch out
pair it with Get a Keyword's Available Dates from SERP so you only request dates that exist.
Haloscan by Sequance25

Get a Keyword's Site Structure

ActionIn the docs only

A view of how ranking sites structure their content around a keyword, by its name. That can inspire the sections and the internal links of your own page.

When to use it
when planning a pillar page, to see how competitors organize the topic.
Watch out
the documentation says nothing more about this output, so inspect a Run once result before promising anything to a client.
Haloscan by Sequance26

Get a Ranking of Domain's Keyword

ActionIn the docs only

Where a domain ranks for its keywords, as the module name reads. This is the classic ranking report, delivered into whatever tool you choose.

When to use it
when a client report is due, to refresh the ranking table without exporting a file.
Watch out
a ranking list can be long; aggregate it or filter it before sending it to a chat channel.
Haloscan by Sequance27

Get a User Credit

ActionIn the docs only

Your remaining Haloscan credit, judging by the name, readable inside a scenario. It lets a scenario check what is left before launching heavy requests.

When to use it
at the start of a bulk scenario, followed by a filter that stops the run when credit is low.
Watch out
this is Haloscan's credit, not Make's; Make counts its own operations separately on your plan.
Haloscan by Sequance28

Get a Visibility Trend of Domains

ActionIn the docs only

A visibility curve for one or more domains, per its name, so you can compare how sites gain or lose ground in search. Good material for a market overview.

When to use it
when a market review is being prepared, to chart your site against rivals.
Watch out
the plural in the name suggests several domains; test how Make expects them to be entered.
Haloscan by Sequance29

Get an Expired Domains

ActionIn the docs only

Expired domains you could look into, going by the name, which is useful for netlinking research or recovering a brand name. The scenario builds the shortlist, you make the call.

When to use it
when a netlinking project opens, to feed a review table your team checks by hand.
Watch out
never automate a purchase from this list; a human should vet every domain first.
Haloscan by Sequance30

Get the Best Keywords from a Page

ActionIn the docs only

Going by its name, you get the keywords a single page performs best on: in short, what that URL really wins on. Where Get a Keyword Data from an URL seems to return everything tied to the address, this one seems to keep only the top performers.

When to use it
when updating an old article, to know which terms to keep at all costs.
Watch out
run both page modules once on the same URL to see which output suits you.
Haloscan by Sequance31

Make an API Call

ActionIn the docs only

Any endpoint of the Haloscan API becomes reachable from your scenario, with the same connection as the other modules. It covers what the dedicated modules leave out.

When to use it
when you need a Haloscan function that none of the modules above offers.
Watch out
you have to know the endpoint and its parameters from Haloscan's own API documentation, since Make does not fill them in for you.
Haloscan by Sequance32

Reveal an Expired Domains

ActionIn the docs only

Details on an expired domain, if reveal means what it usually does in such tools, once you have spotted it in a list. It is the second step after Get an Expired Domains.

When to use it
when a domain from your shortlist catches your eye, to get the full picture before discussing it.
Watch out
the documentation says nothing about its cost or output, so reveal one domain in Run once before looping it over a whole shortlist.
Haloscan by Sequance33

Scrap a Keyword

ActionIn the docs only

Fresh data collected for a keyword, as scrap (short for scrape) in the name suggests, rather than what Haloscan already stores. Useful when a term is new or missing.

When to use it
when Find a Keyword returns nothing for a term you need, to ask Haloscan to fetch it.
Watch out
fresh collection may not be instant, so test in Run once how and when the data comes back.

FAQ

Haloscan by Sequance and Make: common questions

01Is the Haloscan by Sequance Make integration free?
Yes, on the Make side. Haloscan by Sequance is a standard app, available from the Free plan. That plan allows 2 active scenarios, a minimum of 15 minutes between two scheduled runs, 5 minutes of execution per run, files up to 5 MB and 512 MB of data transfer. Paid plans go down to 1 minute between runs and 40 minutes of execution. Your Haloscan subscription is a separate matter, and this page gives no price for it.
02What do you need to connect Haloscan by Sequance to Make?
You need an active Sequance account and an API key. In Haloscan, open the section where API access or integrations are managed, generate or display the key and copy it. In Make, add any Haloscan by Sequance module, click Create a connection, give it a name if you like, and paste the key. The same connection then serves all 33 modules, so you only do this once. Keep the key private, since it gives access to your Haloscan account.
03Can Haloscan by Sequance trigger a Make scenario in real time?
No. The app has no trigger module in Make, neither scheduled nor instant, so Haloscan never starts a scenario on its own. You start it another way: a trigger from another app, such as a new row or a new form entry, or a schedule set on the first module, every 15 minutes by default and at least 15 minutes apart on the Free plan. The Haloscan modules then run as steps inside that scenario.
04What if a Haloscan by Sequance module is missing in Make?
Use Make an API Call. It reaches any endpoint of the Haloscan API with the same connection, so a function without a dedicated module is still within reach. You will need the endpoint details from Haloscan's API documentation. Also keep in mind that Make's documentation for this app says its text is AI-generated and may contain errors, so confirm important behavior with Haloscan by Sequance before building on it. Test each call with Run once first.
05Should you use Make or n8n for Haloscan by Sequance?
It depends on the tool your team already uses. On Make, Haloscan by Sequance comes with 33 modules, Make an API Call included, available from the Free plan. Apps often have an n8n node as well, so check that side for the specific actions you need before choosing. The practical criterion is simple: pick the platform where your other scenarios already live, so connections and monitoring stay in one place.
