What can the Helpwise Make integration do for your team?
The integration links your Helpwise account to Make, a visual tool where you build a scenario (an automation made of modules, each one a single step). Make can spot new contacts, emails, threads and mailboxes in Helpwise, then act on them: send an email, add a note, create a contact, or fetch the details another app needs.
A support lead who never misses a new conversation. Watch Threads picks up every new thread in your mailbox, and the next module can push a summary to whatever tool your team already reads. Add Get a Thread when you need the full details before passing them on.
A sales team that keeps one clean contact list. When a lead signs up in another app, Search Contacts checks Helpwise first, and Create a Contact adds the person only if the search came back empty. No duplicates to merge by hand later.
An onboarding email that goes out by itself. Watch Contacts spots the new person and Send an Email writes to them from Helpwise, so the welcome message leaves from the tool your team already uses.
Make will not cover every corner of Helpwise with ready-made modules. When something is missing, Make an API Call reaches the rest of the Helpwise API with the same connection. Also note that the Make documentation for this app is flagged as AI-generated, so check important details with Helpwise directly. If you are weighing tools, the n8n vs Make comparison lays out the differences, and Make pricing explains how operations are counted. And if a run stops on an error, Make troubleshooting walks you through the usual fixes, step by step.
How do you connect Helpwise to Make?
- 01
Copy your keys from Helpwise
You need an active Helpwise account first. Open the settings page in Helpwise, click API in the left sidebar, and copy both the API key and the Client secret shown on screen. Keep them in a safe place for the next step.
- 02
Add a Helpwise module in Make
In your Make scenario, add any Helpwise module and click Create a connection. A connection is your Helpwise account linked to Make once, then reused by every Helpwise module you add later.
- 03
Paste the credentials and save
Give the connection a name in Connection name if you like (it is optional, but useful with several accounts). Paste the API key and Client secret you copied, or follow the on-screen instructions, then save.
Build your first scenario with Helpwise
GoalWhen a new contact appears in Helpwise, Make sends that person a welcome email from your shared inbox.
- 01
Create the scenario
Open the Scenarios page in Make, create a new scenario, and click the big + to add your first module.
- 02
Add Watch Contacts
Search for Helpwise, pick Watch Contacts, and click Create a connection to link your account with the API key and Client secret.
- 03
Add Send an Email
Click the + on the right of Watch Contacts and choose Send an Email. Map the contact data from the first module into the email so each message greets the right person.
- 04
Test with Run once
Add a test contact in Helpwise, then click Run once. Make runs the scenario one time and shows the bundles each module received, so you can read exactly what was sent.
- 05
Schedule and switch on
Set the schedule on the clock of the first module (every 15 minutes by default) and switch the scenario on. From then on, new contacts get their email without you lifting a finger.
Which Helpwise triggers start a scenario?
4 modules start a scenario when something happens in Helpwise. A scheduled trigger is checked by Make on the scenario's schedule; an instant one is called by Helpwise as soon as it happens.
Watch Contacts
Scheduled triggerIn Make“Triggers when a new contact is added.”
Watch Contacts hands your scenario every contact newly added to Helpwise, one bundle per person, so the rest of the flow can greet, tag or copy them elsewhere. A bundle is simply one item passed from a module to the next.
Watch Emails
Scheduled triggerIn Make“Triggers when a new email is added to your mailbox.”
With Watch Emails, each new email added to your Helpwise mailbox becomes the starting point of a scenario, ready to be copied, analyzed or routed to another tool.
Watch Mailboxes
Scheduled triggerIn Make“Triggers when a new mailbox is added to your Helpwise.”
Watch Mailboxes lets you know when your Helpwise workspace gains a new mailbox, which is handy for admins who keep tools and access lists in sync.
Watch Threads
Scheduled triggerIn Make“Triggers when a new thread/conversation is added to your mailbox.”
Watch Threads gives you each new conversation in your mailbox as a single item, so you react to the customer's request as a whole rather than to every message inside it.
What can each Helpwise module do in Make?
Helpwise gives you 13 modules. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Modules index
Add a Note
ActionIn Make“Creates a new note.”
Add a Note creates a new note in Helpwise from your scenario, so information gathered in another tool gets written down in Helpwise instead of staying in someone's head.
Create a Contact
ActionIn Make“Creates a new contact.”
Create a Contact adds a person to your Helpwise contacts straight from another app, so your agents see who is writing before the first email even arrives.
Create a Mailbox
ActionIn Make“Creates a new mailbox.”
Create a Mailbox opens a new mailbox in Helpwise from a scenario, which saves an admin the manual setup each time a team or a brand needs its own inbox.
Get a Contact
ActionIn Make“Returns information about a specific contact.”
Get a Contact fetches the full record of one Helpwise contact you already know, so later modules can use details the trigger did not include.
Get a Mailbox
ActionIn Make“Returns information about a specific mailbox.”
Get a Mailbox returns the information Helpwise holds about one specific mailbox, which helps you label or route data correctly further down the scenario.
Get a Thread
ActionIn Make“Returns information about a specific thread/conversation.”
Get a Thread pulls everything Helpwise knows about one conversation, so you work with the complete exchange instead of a single message.
Make an API Call
ActionIn Make“Performs an arbitrary authorized API call.”
Make an API Call lets you reach any endpoint of the Helpwise API from your scenario, reusing the connection you already set up, so a missing module never blocks you.
Send an Email
ActionIn Make“Creates and sends a new email.”
Send an Email writes and sends a new message from your Helpwise mailbox, so automated emails leave from Helpwise rather than from a separate sending tool.
List Contacts
SearchIn Make“Returns data about your contacts from Helpwise.”
List Contacts returns the contacts stored in Helpwise, one bundle each, which is the easiest way to copy your list into a sheet or another tool.
List Emails
SearchIn Make“Lists your emails from Helpwise.”
List Emails brings back your Helpwise emails as separate bundles, useful when you need to process messages that already exist rather than wait for new ones.
List Mailboxes
SearchIn Make“Lists your mailboxes from Helpwise.”
List Mailboxes returns every mailbox in your Helpwise account, which gives an admin a quick inventory without clicking through the settings.
List Threads
SearchIn Make“Lists your threads/conversations from Helpwise.”
List Threads returns the conversations in your Helpwise mailboxes, one bundle per thread, so you can review or export them in bulk.
Search Contacts
SearchIn Make“Performs a search across all your contacts on Helpwise.”
Search Contacts looks across all your Helpwise contacts and tells you whether a person is already there, which keeps your contact list free of duplicates.
