What you can automate

What does the Mixmax Make integration let you automate?

The Mixmax Make integration links your Mixmax account to Make, a no-code tool where you build a scenario: an automation made of modules, each one a brick that does a single job. With it, other apps can create contacts, write notes, prepare messages and enroll people in a sequence without anyone copying data by hand.

A lead lands straight in a sequence. When a prospect fills a form in another app, Create a Contact saves them in Mixmax and Add a Recipient to a Sequence enrolls them, so the follow-up starts without a rep touching it.

Account context stays in one place. Support or success teams can push a comment from their own tool into Mixmax with Create a Contact Note, and List Contact Notes reads that history back when a report needs it.

Messages get prepared, then sent. Create a Message builds a draft, Update a Message adjusts it, and Send a Message sends it once the scenario has everything it needs.

Mixmax has no trigger in Make, so a scenario starts from another app or from a schedule. To connect, you need a Mixmax account on an annual Growth Plus or Enterprise plan and an API token. The same app often has an n8n node too; our n8n vs Make comparison helps you pick. New to the editor? Start with the Make training, or read the Make review first.

Connect

How do you connect Mixmax to Make?

  1. 01

Generate your API token in Mixmax

In Mixmax, open Settings, then Integrations under your personal settings. Click the button that generates an API token and copy the token shown on screen. Keep it at hand for the next step.

  2. 02

Add a Mixmax module in Make

Open your scenario in Make, add any Mixmax module and click Create a connection. A connection is your Mixmax account linked to Make once, then reused by every Mixmax module. You can type a label in Connection name if you like.

  3. 03

    Paste the token and save

Paste the API token you copied, or follow the instructions Make displays, and save. Make can now read and write in your Mixmax account, and the connection shows up in the list the next time you add a module.

First scenario

Your first scenario: turn a new lead into a sequence recipient

GoalWhen a new lead arrives in another app, Make creates the contact in Mixmax and adds it to a sequence.

  1. 01

    Create the scenario

On the Scenarios page, create a new scenario and click the +. Pick the app where your leads come from, such as a form or a CRM, and its trigger module.

  2. 02

    Add Create a Contact

Click the + on the right of that first module, search for Mixmax and choose Create a Contact. Select your connection, or click Create a connection if this is your first Mixmax module.

  3. 03

    Map the lead's details

Fill the fields of Create a Contact by mapping the data of the first module. Each lead travels as a bundle, one item passed from module to module, so every new lead becomes one contact.

  4. 04

Enroll the contact in a sequence

Add Add a Recipient to a Sequence after it, choose the sequence and map the contact you just created. Make lists what it can read in Mixmax once the connection works.

  5. 05

Test with Run once, then switch on

Click Run once and open the bundles each module received to check the contact and the enrollment. Then set the schedule on the first module, every 15 minutes by default, and switch the scenario on.

Modules

What can Mixmax do in a Make scenario?

Mixmax gives you 18 modules. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

Mixmax1

Add a Recipient to a Sequence

Action

In MakeAdds a new recipient to a sequence.

This module puts a person into one of your Mixmax sequences, so your follow-up emails start without anyone clicking through the Mixmax interface. It fits the moment a person is ready to hear from you.

When to use it
right after a lead is qualified in your CRM or a demo request comes in.
Watch out
it acts on each bundle it receives, so a duplicated lead upstream means a duplicated enrollment.
Mixmax2

Create a Contact

Action

In MakeCreates a new contact.

Here you get a new Mixmax contact built from data another app already holds, instead of retyping them. Every bundle that reaches the module becomes one contact.

When to use it
when leads arrive from a form, a webinar tool or a spreadsheet.
Watch out
put Search Contacts in front if the person may already exist, or you risk duplicates.
Mixmax3

Create a Contact Note

Action

In MakeCreates a new contact note.

With a contact note, the context a colleague gathered elsewhere lands on the Mixmax contact, where the rep sees it before writing. The module adds a fresh note to the contact you point it at.

When to use it
when a support ticket closes or a call summary is ready in another tool.
Watch out
the scenario must know which contact to attach it to, usually found by a search first.
Mixmax4

Create a Message

Action

In MakeCreates a new draft message.

Create a Message prepares a draft in Mixmax, filled with data from the scenario, and leaves it there without sending anything. That gives a person the chance to review before it goes out.

When to use it
for sensitive emails, such as a renewal offer or a reply to a complaint.
Watch out
the draft stays a draft until you or Send a Message sends it.
Mixmax5

Delete a Contact

Action

In MakeDeletes an existing contact.

Your contact list stays clean when this module removes a Mixmax contact for you, triggered by what happens in another app. It saves a manual cleanup pass through the contact list.

When to use it
when someone asks to be forgotten or leaves the company you were prospecting.
Watch out
nothing says a deleted contact can be restored, so treat it as final and test it with Run once on a dummy contact before switching the scenario on.
Mixmax6

Delete a Contact Note

Action

In MakeDeletes an existing contact note.

Outdated or wrong notes disappear from a contact with this module, so reps are not misled by stale information. It targets one existing note, not the contact itself.

When to use it
when the source record in another tool is deleted and the note no longer makes sense.
Watch out
treat the deletion as final and find the right one with List Contact Notes before mapping it.
Mixmax7

Get a Contact

Action

In MakeRetrieves an existing contact.

Get a Contact fetches the full record of one Mixmax contact, so later modules can reuse its details in an email, a sheet or a CRM. It returns a single contact, not a list.

When to use it
when you already know which contact you need and want its latest data.
Watch out
you must tell it which contact to read, often by mapping a result of Search Contacts.
Mixmax8

Get a Message

Action

In MakeRetrieves an existing message.

Reading back one message lets the scenario check what a draft or a sent email contains before doing anything else with it. The module returns that single message.

When to use it
before Update a Message, to compare the current content with the change you plan.
Watch out
it needs a message the scenario already knows, typically one from List Messages or Create a Message.
Mixmax9

Make an API Call

Action

In MakePerforms an arbitrary authorized API call.

When none of the listed modules does what you need, Make an API Call reaches any endpoint of the Mixmax API with the connection you already set up. It is the way to cover the gaps.

When to use it
for a Mixmax feature that has no dedicated module in Make.
Watch out
you write the request yourself, so keep the Mixmax API documentation open while you set it up.
Mixmax10

Send a Gmail Message

Action

In MakeSends a new Gmail message.

A brand new email goes out through Gmail with this module, straight from the scenario, without preparing a draft first. The content comes from whatever earlier modules mapped into it.

When to use it
for a one-off email, such as a confirmation after a meeting request.
Watch out
the email leaves as soon as the module runs, so test with Run once on your own address.
Mixmax11

Send a Message

Action

In MakeSends an existing message.

Send a Message sends a message that already exists in Mixmax, such as a draft built earlier in the same scenario. Preparation and sending stay two separate moves.

When to use it
after Create a Message, once the draft holds everything it needs.
Watch out
it does not write content, it only sends an existing message, so map the right one from the previous module.
Mixmax12

Update a Contact

Action

In MakeUpdates an existing contact.

Keeping Mixmax in step with your CRM is the job of this module: it changes an existing contact with fresher data, so the rep never writes from outdated details.

When to use it
when a contact's details change in the tool your team treats as the reference.
Watch out
it edits one known contact, so pair it with Search Contacts to find the right record first.
Mixmax13

Update a Contact Note

Action

In MakeUpdates an existing contact note.

Rather than stacking a new note each time, this module rewrites an existing one, so the contact keeps a single note that stays current. Reps read one up-to-date summary.

When to use it
when the status of a deal or a ticket evolves in another app.
Watch out
it needs the note you want to change; List Contact Notes helps you find it and map it.
Mixmax14

Update a Message

Action

In MakeUpdates an existing message.

Changing a message after the fact is what this module is for: it edits an existing Mixmax message with new data from the scenario, so a draft reflects the latest information.

When to use it
when a price, a date or a name changes between the draft and the send.
Watch out
the module edits a message, it does not call back an email, so update drafts before Send a Message runs.
Mixmax15

List Contact Notes

Search

In MakeRetrieves a list of contact notes.

All the notes of your Mixmax contacts come back with this search, each one as a separate bundle the next modules can process, copy or summarize. You get the history in one pass.

When to use it
to export notes into a sheet or to find the one you want to edit.
Watch out
a search returns zero, one or many bundles, and each bundle costs operations in the modules after it.
Mixmax16

List Meeting Invites

Search

In MakeRetrieves a list of meeting invites.

This search pulls your Mixmax meeting invites into the scenario, so another app can track or report on them without anyone exporting data by hand.

When to use it
to feed a sheet or a dashboard that follows the meetings your team books.
Watch out
every invite becomes a bundle, and each bundle costs operations in the modules that follow.
Mixmax17

List Messages

Search

In MakeRetrieves a list of messages.

List Messages gives you your Mixmax messages as a batch of bundles, ready to be filtered, logged or checked by the modules that follow. It is the starting point for any message cleanup.

When to use it
to spot drafts that were never sent or to archive messages in another tool.
Watch out
each message found becomes a bundle, so a large list quickly adds operations downstream.
Mixmax18

Search Contacts

Search

In MakeSearches for contacts or lists them all.

Finding a contact before acting on it avoids duplicates and wrong updates, and that is exactly what Search Contacts offers. It can also list every contact when you need the whole base.

When to use it
in front of Create a Contact or Update a Contact, to check whether the person exists.
Watch out
it can return zero, one or many contacts, so plan what happens in each case.

FAQ

Mixmax and Make: frequent questions

01Is the Mixmax Make integration free?
Yes on the Make side. Mixmax is a standard app, available from the Free plan, which allows 2 active scenarios, runs at most every 15 minutes and stops each run after 5 minutes. Paid plans lower the interval to 1 minute and remove the limit on active scenarios. The Mixmax side is different: the Make documentation requires an active Mixmax account on an annual Growth Plus or Enterprise plan, so check your subscription before you build anything.
02What do you need to connect Mixmax to Make?
You need an active Mixmax account on an annual Growth Plus or Enterprise plan and a developer API token. In Mixmax, open Settings, then Integrations under your personal settings, generate the token and copy it. In Make, add a Mixmax module, click Create a connection, give the connection a name if you want, paste the token and save. Every Mixmax module in your scenarios then reuses that same connection. If the token ever changes, update it in that connection once.
03Does the Mixmax Make integration react in real time?
No, because Mixmax has no trigger in Make: all 18 modules are actions or searches. A scenario therefore starts from something else. Either the trigger of another app, such as a form or a CRM, launches it, or a schedule on the first module runs it, every 15 minutes by default and never more often than the minimum interval of your plan. Mixmax then acts as soon as the scenario reaches its modules.
04What if the Mixmax module you need is missing in Make?
Use Make an API Call. It reaches any endpoint of the Mixmax API with the connection you already created, which covers features without a dedicated module. Keep in mind that the Make documentation for Mixmax is marked as AI generated and may contain mistakes, so check important details against the Mixmax documentation or with Mixmax directly. If a limit still blocks you, another app in your stack can often take over that step.
05Should you use Make or n8n for Mixmax?
It depends on what your team already runs. On Make, Mixmax offers 18 modules plus Make an API Call, usable from the Free plan, and this page walks through the connection and a first scenario. The same app often has an n8n node as well. List the actions you need, such as sequences, contact notes or drafts, and check that each tool covers them before choosing. Neither tool is ranked here.
