SerpApi Make integrationAutomate SerpApi with Make.

What if search results landed in your spreadsheet on their own? The SerpApi Make integration gives you 21 modules: 20 searches across Google, Bing, Baidu, DuckDuckGo and YouTube, plus one open API call. This page shows how to plug in your key and build a first scenario.

What you can automate

What does the SerpApi Make integration do?

It lets Make ask SerpApi for search results and pass them to the rest of your tools. You build a scenario, the automation that runs in Make, and each SerpApi module sends one query to one engine, such as Google News or Google Maps, and hands back what it finds.

A local lead list that builds itself. A sales team targeting dentists in one city runs Search Google Maps on that query, then Search Google Maps Reviews on each place found, and writes the results to a sheet. Every result travels as a bundle, one item passed from module to module.

A press watch on your brand. A marketing lead puts Search Google News behind the scenario schedule and sends every new article to a Slack channel or an email. The same idea works with Search Youtube for videos that mention a product.

A hiring radar. A recruiter pairs Search Google Jobs with Search Google Jobs Listing to spot which companies post a given role and keep the details of each offer.

What the integration does not do: none of the 21 modules is a trigger, so SerpApi never starts a scenario by itself. You start it with the Make schedule or with another app. The SerpApi documentation on Make also carries a notice that it was generated by AI and may contain mistakes, so check anything important against SerpApi itself. New to the tool? The Make review sets the scene, and the Make pricing page explains plans. SerpApi often has an n8n node too; the n8n vs Make comparison lays out both options.

Connect

How do you connect SerpApi to Make?

  1. 01

Copy your API key from SerpApi

You need an active SerpApi account first. Open the SerpApi dashboard and copy the API key shown there. Keep it at hand: it is the only credential Make asks for, and a connection is simply that key saved once in Make.

  2. 02

Add a SerpApi module to your scenario

In your Make account, open a scenario, add any SerpApi module, for instance Search Google, and click Create a connection. You can type a label in Connection name, which helps when several people share the workspace.

  3. 03

    Paste the key and save

Paste the key you copied into the field Make shows, or follow the on-screen instructions, then save. Every other SerpApi module in any scenario can now reuse this connection without asking for the key again.

First scenario

How do you build your first SerpApi scenario?

GoalWhen the scenario runs on its schedule, Make searches Google Maps for your query and fetches the reviews of each place it finds.

  1. 01

    Create the scenario

From the Scenarios page, create a new scenario and click the big + to add the first module. Type SerpApi in the search box and pick Search Google Maps.

  2. 02

    Connect and write the query

Click Create a connection and paste your API key, then fill in the module with the search you would type in Google Maps yourself, like a trade and a city.

  3. 03

    Chain the reviews module

Click the + on the right of the first module and add Search Google Maps Reviews. Map the place returned by the Maps search, so each business found gets its own reviews lookup.

  4. 04

    Test with Run once

Click Run once. Make runs the scenario a single time and shows, above each module, the bundles it received. Open them to check that places and reviews match what you expected.

  5. 05

    Schedule and switch on

Click the clock on the first module to set Scheduling; a new scenario runs every 15 minutes by default, and the Free plan cannot go below that. Then switch the scenario on.

Modules

What can SerpApi do in Make?

SerpApi gives you 21 modules. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

SerpApi1

Make an API Call

Action

In MakePerforms an arbitrary authorized API call.

This module reaches any part of the SerpApi API that the 20 ready-made searches leave out, using the connection you already have. You write the request yourself and Make returns the raw answer.

When to use it
the engine or option you need has no dedicated module in the list below.
Watch out
it asks for more technical knowledge than the others, so keep SerpApi's API documentation open while you fill it in.
SerpApi2

Search Baidu

Search

In MakeSearches Baidu for a given query

Search Baidu brings back what China's main search engine shows for your query, so you can follow a brand or a topic on a market Google barely covers. Each result arrives as its own bundle.

When to use it
an export team wants to see how a product name appears to Chinese searchers.
Watch out
many pages found there are in Chinese, so plan a translation step if the team does not read it.
SerpApi3

Search Bing

Search

In MakeSearches Bing for a given query

With Search Bing, you get Microsoft's view of the same query, which often ranks pages differently from Google. That difference is exactly what an SEO report wants to show.

When to use it
you track rankings on more than one engine and want Bing results in the same sheet as Google ones.
Watch out
a search can return several bundles, so every module after it runs once per result and counts operations accordingly.
SerpApi4

Search DuckDuckGo

Search

In MakeSearches DuckDuckGo for a given query

Search DuckDuckGo returns the results of the privacy-focused engine, a useful second opinion on a query whose Google page feels crowded by ads or personal history.

When to use it
a content team compares how a guide ranks on a non-tracking engine next to Google and Bing.
Watch out
if the query brings back nothing, the next modules simply do not run; add a filter to log empty searches if that matters to you.
SerpApi5

Search Google

Search

In MakeSearches Google for a given query

This is the everyday module: it sends a query to Google and hands you the results page as data you can sort, store or filter. Most SerpApi scenarios start here.

When to use it
you want the organic results for a keyword saved in a sheet, or checked for your own domain.
Watch out
each module run is an operation, one execution counted on your Make plan, so test with Run once before scheduling.
SerpApi6

Search Google Flights

Search

In MakeSearches Google Flights for a given query

Search Google Flights returns the flight options Google shows for a route, turning a manual price check into a stored result you can compare later.

When to use it
an office manager wants flight options for a recurring business route collected in one sheet before booking.
Watch out
the SerpApi documentation on Make does not detail which fields the module expects, so open it in Make and follow the labels it shows.
SerpApi7

Search Google Images

Search

In MakeSearches Google Images for a given query

Here you collect what Google Images returns for a query: a quick way to see which visuals rank for a product name or a brand.

When to use it
a brand manager checks whether product photos or someone else's pictures show up first for the brand name.
Watch out
an image search can return a long list, so put a filter or a limit before the modules that store or send each result.
SerpApi8

Search Google Jobs

Search

In MakeSearches Google Jobs for a given query

Search Google Jobs lists the job offers Google gathers for a role and a place, which tells you who is hiring and for what.

When to use it
a recruitment agency spots companies that post the roles it fills, then adds them to its CRM as prospects.
Watch out
the same offer can come back on later runs, so check for duplicates before creating records in another app.
SerpApi9

Search Google Jobs Listing

Search

In MakeSearches Google Jobs Listing for a given query

Where Search Google Jobs gives you the list, Search Google Jobs Listing zooms in on one offer and brings back its detail page.

When to use it
right after a jobs search, to keep the full description of each offer that matches your criteria.
Watch out
placed after a search that returns many offers, this module runs once per offer, so filter first to save operations.
SerpApi10

Search Google Lens

Search

In MakeSearches Google Lens for a given query

Search Google Lens starts from an image instead of words and returns what Google recognizes in it, such as similar pictures or matching products.

When to use it
an online shop checks where its product photos appear elsewhere on the web.
Watch out
SerpApi's Make documentation does not say what input format the module takes, so check the field labels in Make before mapping an image from another app.
SerpApi11

Search Google Light

Search

In MakeSearches Google Light for a given query

Search Google Light is a second way to query Google through SerpApi, listed next to the full Search Google module. Its name suggests a lighter answer, which may be enough for simple checks.

When to use it
after comparing both modules with Run once, if its output covers what your scenario reads.
Watch out
the documentation available here does not explain how it differs from Search Google, so compare the bundles yourself before switching.
SerpApi12

Search Google Local

Search

In MakeSearches Google Local for a given query

Search Google Local returns the local business results Google shows for a query tied to a place, the pack of shops and services near a location.

When to use it
a multi-site franchise checks which competitors show up for its main service in each city it serves.
Watch out
local results vary with the location in the query, so write it explicitly instead of relying on a default.
SerpApi13

Search Google Maps

Search

In MakeSearches Google Maps for a given query

Search Google Maps pulls the places Maps lists for a search, which makes it the natural start of a prospect list built from local businesses.

When to use it
an agency wants every bakery or law firm in a city in a sheet, ready for outreach.
Watch out
each place is a separate bundle, and every module you add after it runs once per place.
SerpApi14

Search Google Maps Reviews

Search

In MakeSearches Google Maps Reviews for a given query

This module fetches the reviews attached to a place on Google Maps, so you can read what customers say without opening each listing.

When to use it
after Search Google Maps, to gather reviews of competitors or of your own locations in one table.
Watch out
it needs to know which place to read, so map it from a previous Maps search rather than typing it by hand each time.
SerpApi15

Search Google News

Search

In MakeSearches Google News for a given query

Search Google News returns the articles Google News shows for a topic, a simple base for a press watch that feeds your team where it already works.

When to use it
a communications lead wants each article mentioning the company posted to a shared channel.
Watch out
a scheduled run sees the same articles again, so store what was already sent and filter on it.
SerpApi16

Search Google Product

Search

In MakeSearches Google Product for a given query

Search Google Product focuses on a single product page in Google's shopping results, so you follow one item instead of a whole results page.

When to use it
once Search Google Shopping has found the item you follow, to keep a closer look at that one product.
Watch out
it targets one product, so map the product from a previous search instead of building the reference by hand.
SerpApi17

Search Google Scholar

Search

In MakeSearches Google Scholar for a given query

Search Google Scholar returns academic papers for a query, handy for anyone who follows research in a field without living in a library.

When to use it
a health or engineering startup keeps a shared table of new publications on its core topic.
Watch out
the module lists what Scholar finds, not the papers themselves, so plan where your team will open and read them.
SerpApi18

Search Google Shopping

Search

In MakeSearches Google Shopping for a given query

Search Google Shopping lists the offers Google shows for a product query, so a retailer sees who else sells the same item and at what shown price.

When to use it
an ecommerce manager compares competing offers on best-selling references in a sheet.
Watch out
popular queries return many offers, so filter by seller or keyword before writing rows elsewhere.
SerpApi19

Search Google Trends

Search

In MakeSearches Google Trends for a given query

Search Google Trends gives you the interest data Google Trends shows for a term, useful to see whether a topic is rising before writing about it.

When to use it
an editorial team checks demand for a few candidate topics and keeps the answer next to its content plan.
Watch out
keep the term and its location consistent from one run to the next, otherwise the results in your sheet will not be comparable.
SerpApi20

Search Google Videos

Search

In MakeSearches Google Videos for a given query

Search Google Videos returns the video results Google shows for a query, across platforms and not only YouTube.

When to use it
a training company checks which video tutorials rank for the skills it teaches.
Watch out
if you only care about YouTube, the dedicated Search Youtube module gives a narrower answer and fewer results to filter.
SerpApi21

Search Youtube

Search

In MakeSearches Youtube for a given query

Search Youtube runs a search on YouTube itself and returns the videos it finds, so you can follow a keyword, a product or a competitor channel.

When to use it
a creator or a brand keeps track of new videos mentioning its name and sends them to a sheet for review.
Watch out
every video is a bundle, so a broad query multiplies the operations of the modules that follow.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

01Is the SerpApi Make integration free?
On the Make side, yes: SerpApi is a standard app, available from the Free plan. That plan allows 2 active scenarios, a minimum of 15 minutes between scheduled runs, 5 minutes per run and 512 MB of data transfer. Paid plans (Core, Pro, Teams, Enterprise) bring the interval down to 1 minute and remove the cap on active scenarios. SerpApi itself needs an active account with an API key, and its own subscription terms are set on the SerpApi pricing page.
02What do you need to connect SerpApi to Make?
An active SerpApi account and its API key. You copy the key from the SerpApi dashboard, then in Make you add a SerpApi module, click Create a connection, give it a name if you like and paste the key. That connection is saved once and reused by all 21 SerpApi modules in every scenario, so you do not repeat the step for each search engine. If the connection fails later, the key is the first thing to check in the SerpApi dashboard.
03Can SerpApi trigger a Make scenario in real time?
No. SerpApi has no trigger module in Make, so it never starts a scenario on its own. You start it in one of two ways: with the schedule on the first module, which runs every 15 minutes by default and can go down to 1 minute on paid plans, or with a trigger from another app, such as a new row in a sheet that holds the keyword to search. Whichever start you choose, test with Run once before switching the scenario on.
04What if the SerpApi module you need is missing in Make?
Use Make an API Call. It calls any endpoint of the SerpApi API with the same connection, so an engine or an option without a dedicated module is still reachable. It asks you to write the request yourself, following SerpApi's API documentation. Also note that the SerpApi documentation on Make is marked as AI-generated and may contain mistakes, so confirm important details with SerpApi directly. Keep that module for the cases the 20 search modules really do not cover.
05Should you use Make or n8n for SerpApi?
It depends on the tool your team already uses. SerpApi often has an n8n node as well, so both can run the same kind of search workflow. In Make, you get 21 ready-made modules, a visual editor and a Free plan to test with. If your other automations already live in one of the two tools, keeping SerpApi there is usually the simplest choice for maintenance. Both routes reach the same SerpApi searches, so the choice is about your team rather than the app.
