Billplz Zapier integrationAutomate Billplz with Zapier.
The Billplz Zapier integration gives you 1 trigger, 1 action and 1 search. Enough to react to a new collection, issue a bill from another tool and pull a bill back by its ID, without copying a single payment detail by hand.

What the Billplz Zapier integration actually does
Billplz is a payment platform that organizations use to send bills and get paid. Plugged into Zapier, it can start an automation when a collection appears, create a bill when something happens in another app, and fetch the details of an existing bill so later steps can use them.
Three results come out of it. First, a bill that writes itself: a form, a spreadsheet row or a CRM deal hands its email, phone, name and amount to Create Bill, and the customer gets a payment request without anyone opening the Billplz dashboard. Second, a team alert for every new collection: Get Collections notices the new one and posts it where your finance people already look. Third, a status check on demand: Get Bill takes a bill ID and returns what Billplz knows about it, so a follow-up email or a sheet update uses live data.
Now the limits. There is no trigger for a paid bill. Billplz reports payments to the callback URL you set on each bill, and Zapier offers no event for it on this app. The field help suggests catching that callback with Webhooks by Zapier, which is a separate tool. There is also no way to edit or cancel a bill from here: one action, and it only creates.
If you are weighing other platforms, the Billplz Make integration covers the same app from a different angle, and the Make vs Zapier comparison lays out the criteria.
Zapier vocabulary, in one minute
Seven Zapier words, each tied to what it means for Billplz.
- Zap
- One automation on Zapier: a trigger such as a new Billplz collection, then one or more actions that run every time that event comes in.
- Trigger
- The event that sets a Zap off. On Billplz it can only be a new collection, and once the Zap is on, Zapier keeps waiting for one.
- Action
- The step that does the work after the start, writing, sending or moving something. On Billplz that means Create Bill and nothing else.
- Task
- What Zapier counts and bills: one action that goes through. A Zap that issues one bill per run spends one task per run.
- Polling vs instant
- Polling: Zapier checks the app on a timer. Instant: the app calls Zapier the moment it happens. Get Collections is the polling kind.
- Filter
- A gate between steps: the Zap goes on only when the data that arrived meets your condition. Anything else stops at the filter.
- Search step
- A step that reads something already stored in an app and hands it on. Get Bill is one: it takes a bill ID and returns that bill.
What a Billplz Zap really costs
Billplz is not a premium app, so it works on the free Zapier plan. The bill comes from tasks, not from the app.
- Premium appNo, works on the free plan
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only
- BilledEach successful action, never the trigger
The trigger never costs a task, and neither do the checks Zapier runs to find new collections. Each action that succeeds counts once: a Zap that creates one bill per run uses one task per run. A failed action is not counted. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and checks polling triggers every 15 minutes, but it only builds two-step Zaps. Add a filter or the Get Bill search and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan.
Connect Billplz to Zapier in three steps
- 01
Open the Apps page
Head to Apps in your Zapier account and click + Add connection. This links your Billplz account once (that link is a connection), and every Billplz step in every Zap then reuses it.
- 02
Find Billplz
In the dialog, search for Billplz, select it and confirm with Add connection. Billplz then opens its own sign-in page in a fresh browser tab, while Zapier waits for you.
- 03
Sign in and allow access
Sign in with your Billplz login and grant Zapier access to the account. Collections someone else owns need read or write rights on your side before a Zap can bill into them.
Your first Billplz Zap
GoalCreate a bill inside each new collection as soon as it appears, then confirm it with a lookup.
- 01
Build the trigger
Create a Zap, pick Billplz as the app and
Get Collectionsas the event. Select your connection so Zapier knows which account to watch. - 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent collections of your account, and you pick a real one to map against.
- 03
Add Create Bill
Add Billplz again with
Create Bill. Map the collection ID from the trigger, then fill email, phone, name, amount, description and the callback URL. - 04
Look the bill up
Add
Get Billand feed it the bill ID returned by the step above. This third step makes the Zap multi-step, so a paid plan is needed. - 05
Test, then publish
Run each step once and read what came back from Billplz. When everything looks right, click Publish to switch the Zap on.
Billplz triggers
1 event starts a Zap when something happens in Billplz. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.
Get Collections
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when there's a new collection.”
This one spots a collection you just added to Billplz and passes its details to the rest of the Zap. A collection is where your bills are grouped, so its arrival is the right moment to prepare whatever goes with it.
Billplz actions
Billplz gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Create Bill
ActionIn Zapier“Create a bill within a collection”
Issues a payment request inside one of your collections, addressed to a customer by email and phone, with the amount and a description. Billplz then sends the payment status to the callback URL you give it.
Billplz search
1 search step looks for data that already exists in Billplz, so a later step can use it.
Get Bill, the only Billplz search, is listed under the SEARCH heading at the foot of the action-event list. Three settings shape what happens when the lookup does not return exactly one bill.
Get Bill
SearchIn Zapier“Get a bill information”
Give it a bill ID and it returns the bill's current information from Billplz, ready for the next step to use. Nothing is created or changed.
The three settings every search exposes
- Successful if no search results are found?Off by default: if no bill matches the ID, the Zap halts and the steps fed by Get Bill are skipped. Turn it on to let the run continue without the bill.
- Create X if it doesn't exist yet?Ticking it would turn a search into a find-or-create. Get Bill has no such variant, so this box never shows up on it.
- If multiple search results are found? When several results match: keep the first one (the default), stop the run, or send them all on together to the next step.
When a Billplz Zap breaks
No Zapier help article covers Billplz specifically, so what follows are the general Zapier limits, read through the one trigger and one action this app offers.
Most of them come from timing and loops rather than from Billplz itself. If one shows up, the Zapier troubleshooting guide walks through the fix.
Collections from before launch stay silent
Get Collections only reports collections created after you publish the Zap. The ones already in your Billplz account never start a run; carrying them over is a separate job.No loop between these two
Get Collections watches collections and Create Bill only writes bills, so this pair cannot feed itself. A Zap that writes where its own trigger watches does restart endlessly and drains tasks.A migration floods the trigger
Set up a large batch of collections at once, during a migration for instance, and Zapier's flood protection may hold the batch back instead of billing into each one. Each collection counts once
Zapier remembers the collections Get Collections has already returned, so one collection never starts the Zap twice and never gets a second bill from the same Zap.
