What the BL.INK Zapier integration does for you
The BL.INK Zapier integration links your BL.INK account (the link shortener that turns long URLs into short branded links) to the other apps you use. It works both ways: a new link or a new domain in BL.INK can start an automation, and another app can ask BL.INK for a shortlink without you opening it.
Three results people usually want. First, a running log of every shortlink: New Link spots each link added to a domain you pick, and the next step can copy it into a sheet or a team channel, so nobody asks where the campaign link went. Second, shortlinks made where the work starts: New Link as an action takes a long URL handed over by another app and returns a short one on your domain. Third, a heads-up when the account grows: New Domain notices each domain added to BL.INK, handy when several people manage branded domains.
What Zapier does not do here matters just as much. There is no search step for BL.INK, so a Zap cannot look up an existing link and reuse it. It can only react to new items or create one. Nothing on the Zapier side edits or deletes a link either. And both triggers are polling ones, so no BL.INK event reaches Zapier the second it happens (the cost section explains the delay).

Zapier vocabulary in one minute
Seven words, and the rest of the page reads easily. Each one is explained once here, then used as is.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time that trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event that starts a Zap, here a new link or a new domain in BL.INK. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
- Action
- What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or creates something for you, such as a fresh shortlink.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills. One task equals one action that finished successfully, and your plan counts nothing else.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked on a timer; an instant one is pushed by the app the moment it happens. Both BL.INK triggers poll.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming item meets your condition, and quietly stops it otherwise.
- Connection
- Your BL.INK account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that talks to BL.INK, in every Zap you build.
What a BL.INK Zap really costs
BL.INK is not a premium app, so it runs on the free Zapier plan. You pay in tasks, never in triggers.
- Free plan100 tasks a month
- Checking for new itemsNo task used
- Premium appNo
- Steps per Zap on Free2 (one trigger, one action)
The trigger never costs a task, however often Zapier checks BL.INK for new links. Each action that goes through counts as one task, and a failed action is not counted. A Zap that creates one shortlink per run uses one task per run; give it a second action and it uses two. The free plan offers 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but only two steps per Zap: one trigger, one action. A filter or a second action makes it a multi-step Zap, and that needs a paid plan.
Connect BL.INK to Zapier in 3 steps
- 01
Open your connections
In Zapier, open the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. A dialog opens with a search box. You need a BL.INK account, plus access to any domain you do not own but want the Zap to use.
- 02
Pick BL.INK
Type BL.INK in the search box, select it in the results, then click Add connection. Zapier opens a new browser tab where BL.INK asks you to sign in with your usual account.
- 03
Grant access
Sign in, then allow Zapier to reach your BL.INK account. The connection then shows up in your list. From then on, every Zap that uses BL.INK picks this connection instead of asking again.
Your first Zap: a shortlink for every new domain
GoalEach time a domain is added to BL.INK, create a shortlink on it pointing to your homepage, but only for the domains that match your brand.
- 01
Start the Zap
Create a new Zap, choose BL.INK as the app that starts it and New Domain as the event. Select the connection you just made, then move on to the test.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent domains of your account, so you pick a real one and set the next steps on actual data, not on a blank example.
- 03
Add the filter
Click the plus icon, add a Filter and fill its three boxes: the domain field, a text rule, the value to match. This third step makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.
- 04
Add the action
Add BL.INK again with New Link as the action. Put your homepage in the URL to shorten, then pick the domain so each new domain gets its own link.
- 05
Test and publish
Test the action: it creates a real shortlink in your account, so check the result in BL.INK. When everything reads right, click Publish to switch the Zap on.
BL.INK triggers
2 events start a Zap when something happens in BL.INK. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.
New Domain
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Trigger when a new domain is added.”
Every time a domain is added to your BL.INK account, this trigger picks it up and starts the Zap with that domain as its data. It suits teams where branded domains get added by several people.
New Link
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Trigger when a new link is added.”
Here the Zap keeps an eye on one domain and starts whenever a shortlink appears on it, whoever created it. The link then travels to the next step, ready to be logged or shared.
BL.INK action
BL.INK gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
New Link
ActionIn Zapier“Creates a new shortlink.”
Hand it a long URL and it returns a shortlink on the domain you choose, created in your BL.INK account without you opening it. Two fields are mandatory: the URL to shorten and the domain.
When a BL.INK Zap breaks
Zapier ties no help article to BL.INK, so the cases below are the general Zapier limits, applied to this app.
Most failures come from timing and loops, not from BL.INK itself. When a run fails, our Zapier troubleshooting page goes through the usual checks.
Old links never show up
A Zap only reacts to what happens after you publish it. Links and domains created earlier are ignored, and moving that backlog is a separate job.The Zap keeps firing itself
If a New Link action writes on the very domain a New Link trigger watches, each created link starts the Zap again and your tasks run out fast.A bulk import gets held back
Adding a large batch of links at once, after a migration for example, can trip Zapier's flood protection, which holds the batch back instead of running it.No duplicate runs
Zapier remembers which links and domains it has already seen on a polling trigger, so the same item never starts the Zap twice.
