Brightdeck Zapier integrationAutomate Brightdeck with Zapier.
The Brightdeck Zapier integration offers 1 trigger, 4 actions and 2 searches. Zapier can spot a new deck, generate one from a prompt, export it to PDF or PPTX and share it by email. Here is what each step does, what it costs, and where it trips.
Beta app Zapier still marks this integration as beta.

What the Brightdeck Zapier integration is for
Brightdeck is an AI presentation maker: you describe the deck you want and it builds editable slides you can export or share. Connected to Zapier, it can start an automation when a deck is created, and it can receive orders from other apps to generate, export or share presentations without anyone opening it.
Three results come up first. A deck in the right inbox: Share Presentation sends access to a colleague or a client the moment a new presentation shows up. A first draft written for you: Create AI Presentation turns a brief typed in another tool into a full deck. A file you can attach anywhere: Export PDF and Export PPTX return the presentation as a file, ready for the next step.
Now the limits. Zapier lists Brightdeck as a beta app. The two searches fill part of the gap: Find Presentation looks a deck up by its ID or by title among your 50 most recent, and Get Generation Status tells you whether the AI has finished. Its only trigger fires when a deck is created, not when the AI finishes writing it, which changes how you chain steps. Nothing here edits a deck, deletes one or reacts to a slide change. And generation is not instant: the slides build in the background after the create action returns.

Zapier vocabulary in one minute
Seven terms carry this page. Here they are without the jargon.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time that trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. With Brightdeck, the only one is a presentation being created in your account.
- Action
- What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, like exporting or sharing a deck.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action the Zap completes successfully; your plan counts those, nothing else.
- Polling vs instant
- Polling: Zapier checks the app on a timer and keeps what is new. Instant: the app itself tells Zapier the moment it happens.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap continue only when what arrived meets your condition, such as a title containing a given word.
- Search step
- A step that looks up something already in an app, like an existing deck, so the steps after it can use what it found.
What a Brightdeck Zap really costs
Zapier bills what gets done, not what gets checked.
- Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited two-step Zaps, checks every 15 minutes
- Brightdeck on the free planYes, it is not a premium app (marked beta)
- What countsEach successful action; the trigger and failed actions are free
The New Presentation trigger never costs a task, however often Zapier checks for new decks. Each action that succeeds costs one, so generating a deck and then exporting it costs two. Failed actions are not counted. Brightdeck is not a premium app: it works on the free plan, which gives 100 tasks a month and Zaps of one trigger plus one action. Adding a filter, a search step or a second action makes the Zap multi-step, and that requires a paid plan.
Connect Brightdeck to Zapier in three steps
- 01
Start from the Apps page
In Zapier, open the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. In the dialog, search for Brightdeck by name and pick it from the list of results.
- 02
Sign in to Brightdeck
Click Add connection. A tab opens on Brightdeck: sign in with the account that owns the decks, or one that can read and edit the presentations the Zap will handle.
- 03
Grant access
Approve the access Zapier requests. The connection is now stored, and every Brightdeck step in every Zap you build reuses it without asking you to log in again.
Your first Zap: share every new proposal deck
GoalEach time a presentation whose title contains Proposal is created in Brightdeck, Zapier shares it with your account manager.
- 01
Pick the trigger
Under Build, choose Brightdeck and New Presentation, then select your Brightdeck connection. This is a polling trigger, so on the free plan Zapier checks every 15 minutes.
- 02
Test it on a real deck
Run the Test. Zapier brings back the three most recent presentations of the account. Pick one whose title includes Proposal so the filter has something real to evaluate.
- 03
Keep only proposals
From the plus icon, add a Filter: the title field, the text rule for contains, and the word Proposal. A text rule only works on text, so pick it from the text group.
- 04
Add Share Presentation
Pick Brightdeck again, then Share Presentation. Map the presentation from the trigger and type the account manager's email. Existing Brightdeck users get access, others an invitation.
- 05
Test and publish
Test the step, check the colleague received access, then click Publish. The filter makes this a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan to stay on.
The Brightdeck trigger
1 event starts a Zap when something happens in Brightdeck. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.
New Presentation
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a presentation is created in your account. Fires on creation — AI generation may still be running; pair with Get Generation Status if you need the finished deck.”
Starts the Zap each time a deck is created in the connected Brightdeck account, including decks an AI generation has only just started. It fires on creation, so the slides may still be building when the Zap runs, and anything that needs the finished content should not sit right behind it.
The 4 Brightdeck actions, grouped by intent
Brightdeck gives you 4 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Create AI Presentation
ActionIn Zapier“Creates an AI-generated presentation from a prompt. Returns immediately while slides build in the background — add a Delay step, then Get Generation Status (filter on status = completed) before exporting or sharing.”
Generates a full deck from a written brief, up to 4,000 characters. The step returns at once and the slides keep building in the background.
Export PDF
ActionIn Zapier“Exports a presentation as PDF and returns it as a file plus a signed download link. The link expires in 60 minutes — map the File field for reliable downstream delivery.”
Turns a presentation into a PDF and returns both the file and a download link.
Export PPTX
ActionIn Zapier“Exports a presentation as PPTX and returns it as a file plus a signed download link. The link expires in 60 minutes — map the File field for reliable downstream delivery.”
Produces an editable PowerPoint file of the deck, again as a file plus a temporary link.
Share Presentation
ActionIn Zapier“Shares a presentation with someone by email — existing Brightdeck users get access immediately; everyone else receives an invitation.”
Gives someone access to a deck by email. People who already use Brightdeck get access straight away; anyone else receives an invitation.
The 2 Brightdeck searches
2 search steps look for data that already exists in Brightdeck, so a later step can use it.
A search step finds something already in Brightdeck and hands it to the following steps. In the editor, searches sit at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH. Three settings decide what happens when the result is not what you expected.
Find Presentation
SearchIn Zapier“Finds a presentation by exact ID or by a case-insensitive title search over your 50 most recent presentations.”
Looks up a deck either by its exact ID or by title, ignoring upper and lower case, among your 50 most recent presentations.
Get Generation Status
SearchIn Zapier“Checks an AI generation run: status, stage, and per-slide progress. Typical Zap: Create AI Presentation → Delay → Get Generation Status → Filter (Status = completed) → Export.”
Reports where an AI generation stands: its status, its stage and how far each slide has got.
The three settings every search exposes
- Successful if no search results are found?Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap there and the dependent steps are skipped. Switched on, the Zap carries on without a result.
- Create X if it doesn't exist yet? This box turns a search into a find-or-create. Brightdeck offers no such variant for its two searches, so the box does not apply here.
- If multiple search results are found?Three ways out when several decks match: keep the first one, which is the default, stop the Zap, or pass all of them on at once.
When a Brightdeck Zap breaks
Two traps come from Brightdeck itself, two from how Zapier works.
None of these shows up while you build. They appear once the Zap is live and decks start flowing. If a run fails and the cause is not here, the Zapier troubleshooting page walks through the checks.
The exported deck is half empty
New Presentation and Create AI Presentation both return before the AI is done. Export right behind them and you may capture slides that are still being written. The download link is dead
Both exports return a link that expires after 60 minutes. A step that runs later, or a person who clicks later, finds nothing. Pass the file itself instead.A Zap that creates decks forever
Create AI Presentation behind New Presentation makes a deck that sets off the Zap again, and again, until the monthly task count runs dry.Older decks are ignored
A Zap only reacts to presentations created after you publish it. Sharing or exporting last month's decks is a separate job done by hand or with another method.
