Cloudpress Zapier integrationAutomate Cloudpress with Zapier.
The Cloudpress Zapier integration offers 1 trigger, 5 actions and 1 search. Zapier can react the moment a document is exported, push Google Docs or Notion content to a CMS, convert docs to HTML or Markdown, and check a job. What each does, what it costs, what breaks.

What the Cloudpress Zapier integration is for
Cloudpress takes content written in Google Docs or Notion and exports it to content management systems, the tools that run your website or blog. Through Zapier, an export can start an automation, and other apps can ask Cloudpress to export a doc, a whole collection, or to turn a Google Doc into HTML or Markdown.
Three results people build first. One article, two sites: Document Exported notices an export to the main blog and Export From Connection sends the same piece to a second CMS. Clean markup for any destination: Convert Google Doc to HTML and Convert Google Doc to Markdown hand back text ready for a newsletter tool or a code repository. A whole section republished in one go: Export Collection pushes every document in a collection.
The trigger is instant: Cloudpress tells Zapier when an export happens, so even a free plan reacts at once.
What the integration does not do: nothing here creates or edits the source document, deletes a published post, or reacts to a change in Google Docs or Notion before export. Every export also depends on CMS connections already set up inside Cloudpress; Zapier only picks among them.

Zapier vocabulary in one minute
Seven words come back on every block. Here they are in plain English.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Cloudpress has one: a document has just been exported to a CMS.
- Action
- What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, like exporting a doc.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action the Zap completes successfully; your plan counts those, nothing else.
- Polling vs instant
- Polling: Zapier checks the app on a timer. Instant: the app reports the event itself, the way Cloudpress does.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it quietly otherwise.
- Search step
- A step that looks up something that already exists in an app, such as the state of a job, for the following steps.
What a Cloudpress Zap really costs
Zapier bills completed actions. The trigger and failures are free.
- Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps, one trigger plus one action each
- Cloudpress on the free planYes, it is not a premium app
- Trigger speedInstant on every plan
Document Exported never costs a task. Each Cloudpress action that works costs one: syndicating every exported article to a second site is one task per article. Failed actions are not billed. Cloudpress is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan, which includes 100 tasks a month and two-step Zaps only. The trigger is instant, so the polling grid below does not slow it down. A filter, a search or a second action makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan.
Connect Cloudpress to Zapier in three steps
- 01
Open Apps and add a connection
In your Zapier account, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. A dialog appears: search for Cloudpress by name and select it from the list of results.
- 02
Sign in to Cloudpress
Click Add connection. Cloudpress opens in a new tab: sign in with the account that holds your CMS connections and collections, or one allowed to use them.
- 03
Grant access
Approve the access Zapier requests. The connection is stored once, and every Cloudpress step in every Zap reuses it from then on without asking you to sign in again.
Your first Zap: syndicate each blog article to a partner site
GoalEach time Cloudpress exports a document to your main blog, Zapier exports the same document to the partner site's CMS and tells the editor in your team chat.
- 01
Pick the trigger
Under Build, choose Cloudpress and Document Exported, then pick only the main blog in the required Connection field. The Zap starts once per export to that blog, as soon as it ends.
- 02
Test with a real export
Run the Test. Zapier brings back the three most recent exports. Look at what came back: the next step needs the exported document's reference, so check it is there before going further.
- 03
Add Export From Connection
Pick Export From Connection. Set the source connection, the partner site as destination, and map the document reference from the test. The partner site must not be a connection the trigger watches.
- 04
Tell the editor
Add your chat app and a message to the editor's channel with the article title from the trigger. This second action makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.
- 05
Test, then publish
Test each step and check the article on the partner site. Then click Publish: every later export to the main blog gets its copy, and earlier ones stay where they are.
The Cloudpress trigger
1 event starts a Zap when something happens in Cloudpress, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
Document Exported
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggered when a document is exported”
Starts the Zap whenever Cloudpress finishes exporting a document to one of the CMS connections you pick in the setup. It is the signal that a piece has reached the CMS, which makes it the natural start for anything that should follow an export.
The 5 Cloudpress actions, grouped by intent
Cloudpress gives you 5 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Convert Google Doc to HTML
ActionIn Zapier“Converts a Google Doc to HTML”
Turns a Google Doc into HTML and hands it to the next step, without publishing anything.
Convert Google Doc to Markdown
ActionIn Zapier“Converts a Google Doc to Markdown”
Produces a Markdown version of a Google Doc for the steps that follow, again without publishing.
Export Collection
ActionIn Zapier“Exports all content in a Collection”
Exports every document in a chosen Cloudpress collection in one step.
Export From Connection
ActionIn Zapier“Exports content from a Connection”
Moves a document from a source connection to a destination CMS, identified by its reference; for Notion, that reference is the page ID.
Export Google Doc
ActionIn Zapier“Exports a Google Doc”
Sends a Google Doc to a CMS connection. Options let Cloudpress read a property table into CMS fields, turn standalone links into embeds, and change single-cell tables into code blocks.
The Cloudpress search
1 search step looks for data that already exists in Cloudpress, so a later step can use it.
A search step looks up something that already exists in Cloudpress and passes it on. In the editor, searches sit at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH. Three settings decide what happens when the result is not what you expected.
Get Job Status
SearchIn Zapier“Gets the status of a job”
Reads the status of a Cloudpress job from its Job ID, the one field it requires, and passes it to the next steps.
The three settings every search exposes
- Successful if no search results are found?Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap and skips the steps that depend on it. Switched on, the Zap carries on without a result.
- Create X if it doesn't exist yet? This box turns a search into a find-or-create. Cloudpress offers no such variant for Get Job Status, so it does not apply.
- If multiple search results are found?Three ways out when several items match: keep the first one, the default, stop the Zap, or hand all of them on together.
When a Cloudpress Zap breaks
Cloudpress publishes no specific limit through Zapier. The traps come from how exports feed each other.
Four situations account for the surprises, and none shows during the build. They appear once content starts flowing. If a run fails for a reason not listed here, the Zapier troubleshooting page walks through the checks.
The Zap that exports in circles
An export action that targets a connection Document Exported watches fires the trigger again, and again, until the monthly task count is gone.A collection export floods the Zap
Export Collection can produce a huge batch of exports at once. If a Zap watches that CMS, Zapier's flood protection may hold the runs back. The Google Doc field refuses a link
The export and both conversions expect the content of the Google Doc. Mapping a document URL from another app gives them nothing they can use.Older exports are never picked up
A Zap only reacts to exports after you publish it. Articles already in the CMS will not be syndicated; that backlog is a separate job.
