Overview

What the converts.online Zapier integration actually does

It is a converter you call from a Zap. You pass converts.online a DOC or DOCX file, raw HTML, or the address of a web page, pick an output format, and it gives back the converted file. That result then flows into the next step, so you can store it, attach it or send it somewhere without touching a desktop tool.

Three results people usually build with it. First, a PDF copy of every Word document: Convert DOC/DOCX takes the file a previous step found and returns it in the format you chose, ready to be filed next to the original. Second, a printable document generated from a template: you assemble HTML in an earlier step (a quote, a delivery note, a certificate) and Convert HTML to PDF turns it into a proper PDF, landscape if the layout needs it. Third, a snapshot of a public page: Convert URL to an Image or Convert URL to PDF captures a page from its address, which is handy for archiving a landing page or a published article.

Now the part the app page does not spell out. converts.online has no trigger at all, so it cannot notice anything by itself. Every Zap that uses it begins in another tool: a form, a storage folder, a CRM, a spreadsheet. It also has no search step, so it cannot look up a file it converted earlier. And it only converts: it does not store, email or share the result. That job belongs to the step you add after it.

If you are weighing Zapier against other builders for this kind of document flow, our n8n vs Zapier and Make vs Zapier comparisons lay out the criteria side by side, without crowning a winner.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven words come back on every line of this page. Here they are in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build in Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. converts.online has none, so the trigger always comes from another app.
Action
What the Zap does once it is running: the step that writes, sends or converts something. All five converts.online operations are actions.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action that finishes successfully. Your plan allowance is a count of those, nothing else.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer, at an interval set by your plan. An instant one is pushed by the app the moment the event happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets your condition, and quietly stops it otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap with more than one trigger and one action. A second action, a filter or a search makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a converts.online Zap really costs

converts.online is not a premium app, so it works on the free Zapier plan. The bill is counted in tasks.

  • Premium appNo, available on the free plan
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only
  • One conversionOne task when it succeeds
  • Trigger and checksNever billed

Every conversion that succeeds is one task. The trigger in the other app costs nothing, and neither do Zapier's checks for new data, however often they run. A conversion that fails is not counted. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but each Zap stops at two steps: one trigger, one action. Since converts.online returns a file and does nothing with it, most useful Zaps need a third step to save or send that file, and a third step means a paid plan. A filter has the same effect.

Connect

Connect converts.online to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In Zapier, go to the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. A connection is your converts.online account linked once, then reused by every step that calls the app.

  2. 02

    Find converts.online

Type the app name in the search box of the dialog, select converts.online, then click Add connection. Make sure you already have a converts.online account before this point, the dialog will not create one.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

A new tab opens on converts.online. Sign in, then allow Zapier to use your account. Once the tab closes, the connection appears in your list and every converts.online action in your Zaps can pick it.

First Zap

Your first Zap: turn new Word files into PDFs

GoalEvery time a DOCX lands in a storage folder, Zapier converts it with converts.online and files the result in another folder.

  1. 01

    Build: pick the starting app

Create a new Zap and choose the app and event that start it, here a new file in a storage folder. converts.online cannot be this first step, since it has no trigger.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items from the connected account, so you pick a real Word file to work with instead of a fake one.

  3. 03

    Add the converts.online action

Add Convert DOC/DOCX, choose your converts.online connection, map the file from the trigger into File and set the Output Format you want.

  4. 04

    Test the conversion

Run the action once and read what came back. If the converted file is there, you know the mapping holds before anything goes live.

  5. 05

    Save the result, then publish

Add the step that uploads the new file into a separate folder, test it, then click Publish. This third step makes it a multi-step Zap on a paid plan.

Actions

The 5 converts.online actions

converts.online gives you 5 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Convert DOC/DOCX

Action

In Zapier“Convert DOC or DOCX document to multiple formats.”

Takes a Word file handed over by an earlier step and returns it in the output format you pick, PDF being the usual choice.

When to use it
contracts or reports drafted in Word that clients should receive as a locked PDF.
Watch out
both File and Output Format are mandatory, so the trigger must deliver an actual file, not just its name or link.
2

Convert HTML to Image

Action

In Zapier“Convert HTML to either PNG or JPEG.”

Renders a chunk of HTML and saves it as a PNG or a JPEG, either the visible area or the whole scrollable page when you switch on Full page.

When to use it
producing a shareable visual, say a social card or an order summary, from markup built in a previous step.
Watch out
the default white background stays unless you tick Omit background, which you need for a transparent image.
3

Convert HTML to PDF

Action

In Zapier“Convert HTML to PDF document.”

Turns raw HTML into a PDF document, with optional header and footer, landscape orientation and transparent background.

When to use it
invoices, delivery notes or certificates whose content you assemble as HTML from form answers or CRM fields.
Watch out
only the HTML field is required, so header, footer, landscape and background are easy to forget; check the layout once in the test before publishing.
4

Convert URL to an Image

Action

In Zapier“Convert page from URL to either PNG or JPEG.”

Opens a web page from its address and captures it as a PNG or JPEG, optionally top to bottom with Full page.

When to use it
keeping a visual record of a page at a given moment, like a competitor offer or a freshly published post.
Watch out
the page address and the output format are both mandatory, and the capture shows only what that address displays when Zapier calls it.
5

Convert URL to PDF

Action

In Zapier“Convert page from URL to a PDF document.”

Prints a live web page into a PDF, with the same header, footer, landscape and background options as the HTML version.

When to use it
archiving articles, terms of service or online receipts as documents you can file and search later.
Watch out
the URL of a page is the one required field, so make sure the earlier step passes a full address and not a bare page title.
When it breaks

When a converts.online Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to converts.online, so the usual failures come from how Zaps work in general.

Four of them hit conversion Zaps more than most, because they move files around. If a Zap misbehaves after publishing, our Zapier troubleshooting page walks through the diagnosis step by step.

  • Old files are never converted

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Documents already sitting in the folder stay untouched; converting the backlog is a separate job.
  • The Zap converts its own output

Upload the PDF into the very folder the trigger watches and the Zap fires on its own result, again and again, eating your task count fast.
  • A bulk import gets held back

Drop hundreds of files at once, after a migration for instance, and Zapier's flood protection can pause the trigger instead of converting everything.
  • A file is not converted twice

On a polling trigger, Zapier remembers what it already saw. Editing an existing file will not necessarily send it through the conversion again.

FAQ

converts.online and Zapier: frequent questions

01Is the converts.online Zapier integration free?
Yes, on the Zapier side. converts.online is not a premium app, so the free plan can use it, with 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. The catch is the two-step limit of the free plan: one trigger and one action. A Zap that converts a file and then saves or emails the result has three steps, which requires a paid plan. Whatever converts.online itself charges for its account is not covered on this page, so check it on their side before you plan volume.
02How many tasks does a conversion use?
One task for each conversion that succeeds. The trigger in the starting app costs nothing, and Zapier checking for new items is never billed either. If the conversion fails, it is not counted against your plan. Each extra action is counted separately, so a Zap that converts a file and then uploads it uses two tasks per run. Keep that in mind on the free plan, where 100 tasks a month can go quickly once a busy folder starts feeding the Zap.
03Does converts.online run in real time in Zapier?
It depends entirely on the trigger of the other app, because converts.online has no trigger of its own. If that trigger is instant, the app pushes the event to Zapier straight away and the conversion follows right after, whatever your plan. If it is a polling trigger, Zapier checks on a timer: every 15 minutes on Free, every 2 minutes on Professional, every minute on Team and Enterprise. The conversion itself starts as soon as the trigger fires.
04What is needed to connect a converts.online account?
An existing converts.online account and access to Zapier. From the Apps page, click + Add connection, search for converts.online, confirm with Add connection, then sign in to converts.online in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. The connection is saved once and every converts.online step in every Zap can reuse it. If the files you convert live in someone else's storage, your account on that tool also needs read access to them.
05Why does a converts.online Zap keep converting the same PDF over and over?
Most likely the converted file lands in the same folder the trigger is watching. Zapier sees a new file, sends it to converts.online, saves the result in that folder, sees another new file, and the loop goes on. Each round costs a task, so the count drops fast. Save the output into a separate folder, or add a filter on the file type, which makes the Zap multi-step and needs a paid plan.
06What if the conversion you want is not in the list?
converts.online offers five actions in Zapier: Convert DOC/DOCX, Convert HTML to Image, Convert HTML to PDF, Convert URL to an Image and Convert URL to PDF. If your source format is something else, such as a spreadsheet, the usual workaround is to have an earlier step produce HTML or a public link, then convert that. If none of this fits, the operation simply does not exist in the editor, and a different tool or a direct API call is the honest answer.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for converts.online?
It depends on your criteria rather than on a ranking. Zapier gives you the five converts.online actions ready to use, a short setup and a free plan, but you pay per successful task and need a paid plan as soon as you save the converted file. Before comparing Make and n8n, check first that converts.online is available there with the conversions you need, then compare what one run of your flow costs on each.
