What the Hexomatic Zapier integration actually does
It is a one-way bridge. Hexomatic runs your scraping and automation workflows; Zapier listens for a new event on the workflows you chose and passes it on to another app. That is the whole job: one trigger, no action back into Hexomatic, no lookup inside it. Simple, and honest about it.
Three things people usually build with it. First, a team alert: each new event on a workflow becomes a message in a chat channel, so nobody has to open Hexomatic to know a run produced something. Second, a running log: the same event writes a row in a spreadsheet, which gives you a history you can sort and share with people who never log into Hexomatic. Third, a hand-off to sales or support: the event opens a record in a CRM or a ticket in a help desk, with the values the test showed you mapped into the right fields. All three rest on the same operation, New Event.
What Zapier does not do here matters just as much. There is no action for Hexomatic, so a Zap cannot start a workflow, edit one, or send data into Hexomatic. There is no search either, so a Zap cannot go and read a past result. If your plan needs Hexomatic on the receiving end, this integration will not get you there.
The other good news: Hexomatic is not a premium app, and its single trigger is instant. On the free plan it fires straight away, with no waiting for a timer. If you want to see the same app from another angle, the Hexomatic Make integration page covers it on Make, and our Zapier review looks at the platform as a whole.
Zapier words in one minute
Seven terms come back on this page. Here they are in plain words, once.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is switched on, Zapier waits for that event and nothing else.
- Action
- What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you in another app.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully, and your plan counts those.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. An instant trigger calls Zapier itself the moment the event happens.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
- Connection
- Your Hexomatic account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that needs Hexomatic in any of your Zaps.
What it really costs
The trigger is free. Watching for events never costs a task, however many arrive.
- Premium appNo, works on the free plan
- Free plan100 tasks a month, 2-step Zaps
- Trigger cost0 tasks
- New Event speedInstant, on every plan
Only the actions after it count: each one that succeeds is one task, and one that fails is not billed. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps, and two steps per Zap, so one trigger plus one action. Add a filter or a second action and the Zap turns multi-step, which needs a paid plan. Since New Event is instant, the polling grid (15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise) does not apply to it.
Connect Hexomatic to Zapier in 3 steps
- 01
Open the Apps page
In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need a Hexomatic account first, plus access to any workflow you did not create yourself but want the Zap to watch.
- 02
Pick Hexomatic
Type Hexomatic in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Hexomatic side so you can sign in with your usual login.
- 03
Grant access
Sign in and allow Zapier to reach your account. Back in Zapier, the connection appears in your list, and every future Zap that uses Hexomatic will offer it without asking again.
Your first Zap: Hexomatic results into a spreadsheet
GoalEvery time a chosen Hexomatic workflow creates an event that passes your condition, a new row lands in a Google Sheets tab your ops team already uses.
- 01
Build the trigger
Create a Zap, pick Hexomatic as the app and New Event as the event. Choose your connection, then the workflow to watch in the Workflows field.
- 02
Test it
Run the trigger test. Zapier brings back the three most recent events of your account, so pick a real one and note the value you will filter on.
- 03
Add the filter
Click the plus icon, add Filter, set the field, the rule and the value. Pick a text rule for text and a number rule for numbers, or it never passes.
- 04
Add the spreadsheet step
Add Google Sheets with Create Spreadsheet Row, pick your file and tab, and map the values the trigger test returned into the matching columns.
- 05
Test, then publish
Test each step and read what came back. When the row looks right, click Publish. With the filter, this is a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan.
The Hexomatic trigger
1 event starts a Zap when something happens in Hexomatic, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
New Event
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new event is created.”
Starts your Zap each time Hexomatic creates a new event on a workflow you selected, and hands that event to the next step so another app can use it right away.
When it breaks
Zapier lists no help article and no documented limit for Hexomatic. What breaks is what breaks on every Zap.
Four cases come up most often with a single instant trigger and nothing to write back. None is exotic, and each one has a plain fix. If a Zap stays stuck after these checks, our Zapier troubleshooting page goes further.
Old results never show up
A Zap only reacts to events created after it is switched on. Anything Hexomatic produced before stays where it is, and moving that backlog is a separate job.A big batch arrives at once
A workflow that suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import for example, can be held back by Zapier's flood protection instead of running through. The Workflows list is empty
New Event needs a workflow in its required field. No workflow in the connected account means nothing to pick, and the trigger stays incomplete. The filter step is locked
The free plan builds two-step Zaps only. A filter or a second action makes the Zap multi-step, and Zapier asks for a paid plan before you publish.
