L2S Zapier integrationAutomate L2S with Zapier.

The L2S Zapier integration has 1 action and no trigger. That single action, Create Shortened URL, turns any long link that reaches a Zap into a tracked short link, with UTM tags, a custom key, a title and tags. Here is how to start it, what it costs and where it fails.

Overview

What the L2S Zapier integration does

L2S shortens links and builds QR codes with click statistics. On Zapier it does one thing: it creates a short link from a long one each time another app hands it a URL. You never start a Zap from L2S itself; something in another tool starts it, and L2S comes second.

Three results worth setting up. Campaign links tagged without spreadsheets of UTM codes: a new row in your planning sheet calls Create Shortened URL with its UTM parameters filled in, so every link is trackable from day one. Short links for every new page: when your CMS publishes an article, the Zap shortens its address for your social posts. Tidy link libraries: titles and tags set by the Zap keep your L2S account sorted by campaign or client.

Here is what Zapier does not do with L2S. There is no trigger, so a click or a new link inside L2S cannot start anything. There is no search, so a Zap cannot check whether a link already exists before creating another. And nothing edits or deletes a link: the integration only creates, so cleaning up old links stays a manual job inside L2S.

If you are comparing tools before you build, see our n8n vs Zapier comparison and our Zapier review. Keep the scope in mind: L2S offers a single action on Zapier and no trigger.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Six terms you will meet on this page, in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time that trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. L2S has none, so the trigger always comes from another tool you use.
Action
What the Zap does once it starts. Here it is Create Shortened URL, the step that produces the short link for you.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One action that succeeds equals one task, and your plan counts them month by month.
Polling vs instant
Zapier checks a polling trigger on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by its app at once. The other app decides which one you get.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when the incoming data meets your condition, and stops it the rest of the time.
Cost

What it costs to shorten links with Zapier

L2S is not a premium app, so the free Zapier plan can use it. You pay in tasks: one per short link created.

  • Free plan100 tasks per month, unlimited Zaps
  • Free plan Zap size2 steps: one trigger, one action
  • Premium appNo, available on every plan
  • Cost per short link1 task when it succeeds

The trigger from the other app costs nothing, and neither does Zapier checking that app for news. Each Create Shortened URL that succeeds counts one task; one that fails is not billed. The free plan allows Zaps of two steps, which is exactly one trigger and this one action. Add a filter, for example to shorten only some rows, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. If the trigger app works by polling, the grid below sets how soon the link appears.

Connect

Connect L2S to Zapier in 3 steps

  1. 01

    Add a connection

Go to the Apps page of your Zapier account and click + Add connection. A connection is your L2S account linked once, then reused by every Zap that shortens links.

  2. 02

    Choose L2S

Type L2S in the search box of the dialog, select it and click Add connection. A new tab then opens on the L2S side so you can sign in there with your account.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Log in to your L2S account in that tab and grant Zapier access. You need an L2S account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own and want the Zap to fill.

First Zap

Your first Zap: a tracked short link for each new campaign row

GoalEach row you add to your campaign sheet gets a short L2S link with its UTM tags.

  1. 01

    Pick the trigger

Create a Zap and choose the app and event that start it, here a new row in your campaign sheet. L2S has no trigger, so the start always comes from another tool.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent rows, so you map the next step on a real line with a real destination address.

  3. 03

    Add the L2S action

Add Create Shortened URL, choose your L2S connection and map the long link into the URL field. Add the UTM parameters, a custom key, a title or tags if you use them.

  4. 04

    Test the action

Run the step once and open the short link that came back, to check it lands on the right page with the right tags before you go any further.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish to switch the Zap on. With one trigger and one action, it stays a two-step Zap and runs fine on the free plan.

Actions

L2S action

L2S gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create Shortened URL

Action

In Zapier“This action creates a shortened URL using the L2S platform. You can also add UTM parameters, a custom key, title, and tags to the URL for enhanced tracking and organization.”

Turns a long address into an L2S short link, and can stamp it with UTM parameters, a custom key, a title and tags as it goes.

When to use it
every link your team shares in newsletters, ads or social posts, so clicks are tracked in L2S without anyone building links by hand.
Watch out
the destination URL is the one required field, so the whole step rests on it; feed it a complete address, never a page title or a bare domain fragment.
When it breaks

When the L2S Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to L2S. The failures below are the ones every Zap meets, read through this single action.

  • Old rows never get a link

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Rows, pages or records that already existed are not shortened; handling that backlog is a separate job.
  • A missing destination

The destination URL is the one required field. A blank cell or plain text in its place makes Create Shortened URL fail for that run.
  • A big import held back

Pasting hundreds of rows at once can make the trigger return a huge batch, and Zapier's flood protection may hold it back instead of shortening everything.
  • A loop through your sheet

If the Zap writes the short link back into the same sheet its trigger watches, it can start itself again and again and burn through your tasks.

FAQ

L2S Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the L2S Zapier integration free?
Yes, on the free Zapier plan. L2S is not a premium app, so a free account can use it with 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. A free Zap holds one trigger and one action, which is exactly what a basic L2S Zap needs. Only when you add a filter or a second action do you need a paid plan. Your L2S subscription is a separate matter that Zapier does not affect.
02How many tasks does an L2S Zap use?
One task per short link that is created successfully. The trigger in the other app costs nothing, and neither do Zapier's checks on that app. If the Zap also writes the short link back somewhere, that second action counts as a second task. A Create Shortened URL that fails is not counted. So a campaign of forty links costs forty tasks, which is worth weighing against the 100 included in the free plan.
03Is the L2S integration real time?
It depends on the app that starts the Zap, because L2S has no trigger of its own. If that app reports events instantly, the short link is created right away. If it is a polling trigger, Zapier checks it every 15 minutes on the free plan, every 2 minutes on Professional, and every minute on Team and Enterprise. The editor shows a lightning bolt on instant triggers, which tells you which case you are in.
04What does it take to connect L2S to Zapier?
An L2S account, plus write access to anything you do not own and want the Zap to fill. You connect it once from the Apps page of Zapier: click Add connection, find L2S, sign in on the tab that opens and grant access. Every Zap that shortens links then reuses that connection. Keep in mind that you also need a second app to start the Zap, since L2S cannot start one by itself.
05Why does Create Shortened URL fail on some runs?
Usually because the destination URL arrives empty or incomplete. It is the only required field, so a blank cell, a row added without a link, or plain text in that column stops the step. Map a field that always holds a full address, or add a filter that lets only rows with a link go through, keeping in mind that a filter makes the Zap multi-step and needs a paid plan.
06What if the L2S operation you need is not available?
Then Zapier cannot do it with L2S today. The integration creates short links and that is all: no trigger on clicks or new links, no search, no way to update or delete a link, no QR code step. The usual workarounds are to handle that part inside L2S, or to ask a specialist whether another automation platform covers it. It is also worth asking L2S whether more operations are planned.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for L2S?
Choose on criteria, not on a ranking. Zapier is the fastest to set up and its single L2S action covers the most common need, shortening links on the fly. Make tends to suit longer scenarios where you track the cost of each run. n8n fits teams that want to host it themselves and have someone technical to maintain it. Check which L2S operations each platform offers before deciding, since coverage varies.
