Overview

What the LawHustle Zapier integration does for a firm

LawHustle is a marketing tool that takes over where lead generation stops: it follows up with leads so they turn into clients while the firm handles current ones. The LawHustle Zapier integration plugs it into a Zap, the automation you build on Zapier (one trigger, then one or more actions), in both directions.

Three results worth building. Leads that enter follow-up on their own: a form or another app starts the Zap, Add/Update Contact files the person, and in a second action Add Lead to Campaign puts them in an existing campaign; two actions make it a multi-step Zap, so a paid plan. Follow-up that stops at the right time: Pipeline Stage Changed fires when an opportunity moves, and Stop All Campaign's for Lead ends the sequences for that lead. Work that shows up as tasks: the same trigger, with a filter on the stage, runs Add Task so someone picks up the file, again on a paid plan because of the filter.

What Zapier does not do here: there is no search, so a Zap cannot look up a contact or an opportunity before acting on it. There is no delete action either. A Zap also never reaches opportunities that moved before it was switched on. On the bright side, Pipeline Stage Changed is an instant trigger, so the Zap starts the moment the stage changes, on every plan.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Six words carry the rest of this page.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier. One trigger starts it, then one or more actions run every time that trigger fires.
Trigger
The event that starts a Zap. In LawHustle it is Pipeline Stage Changed; once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, like adding a contact.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action that completed successfully. Not the same thing as a task created with Add Task.
Instant vs polling
Instant: the app tells Zapier the moment the event happens. Polling: Zapier asks on a timer. The LawHustle trigger is instant.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Cost

What it really costs

Pipeline Stage Changed never costs a task. Each LawHustle action that goes through is billed as one, and in a Zap with several actions each success counts on its own.

  • Pipeline Stage ChangedNo task, instant on every plan
  • Each successful actionCounted as a task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Premium appNo

So a Zap that runs Add/Update Contact then Add Lead to Campaign uses two tasks per lead. A failed action is not counted, and a few apps and actions take more than one task. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and two-step Zaps only: a filter or a second action makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan. LawHustle is not a premium app. Its trigger is instant, so the interval grid below does not apply to it.

Connect

Connect your LawHustle account in three steps

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

Sign in to Zapier and open the Apps page of your account. Connections live there: an account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap. You need an existing LawHustle account.

  2. 02

    Add LawHustle

Click + Add connection, type LawHustle in the search box of the dialog and pick it. Then click Add connection to open the LawHustle sign-in in a new tab.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to LawHustle in that tab and grant Zapier access. If the Zap will touch contacts, opportunities or campaigns you do not own, check first that your account can read and write them.

First Zap

Your first Zap: a task when an opportunity reaches a stage

GoalAdd a LawHustle task each time an opportunity moves to the stage you choose.

  1. 01

    Start from Pipeline Stage Changed

Create a Zap, pick LawHustle as the app that starts it and Pipeline Stage Changed as the event, then choose the pipeline to watch in In Pipeline, which is required.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent stage changes of the account, so the next steps are mapped on a real opportunity.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Use the plus icon under the trigger and add a Filter on the stage: a text rule, then the stage name. A number rule on a text field never passes.

  4. 04

    Add the task

Add the Add Task action and fill Task Title and Task Description, both required, using details from the opportunity. Test the step once and read what came back.

  5. 05

    Publish

Publish the Zap to switch it on. It reacts to stage changes made from then on. With the filter, it is a multi-step Zap and needs a paid plan.

Triggers

The LawHustle trigger

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in LawHustle, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Pipeline Stage Changed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when pipeline stage is updated for an opportunity.”

Whenever an opportunity moves to another stage of the pipeline you pick, your Zap starts with that opportunity and its new stage.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
to stop follow-up, open a task or notify someone at the exact point a lead progresses, without anyone watching the pipeline.
Watch out
In Pipeline is required, so pick the pipeline there while setting up the trigger; to react to a single stage only, add a filter after it.
Actions

The 6 LawHustle actions

LawHustle gives you 6 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Add Account

Action

In Zapier“Adds new account for agency”

Creates a new account under an agency, which is an administrative step rather than a lead one.

When to use it
for an agency that sets up LawHustle accounts for its clients from another system.
Watch out
eight fields are required, from names and email to user type, user role, business name and country. An optional box buys a Twilio number using the zip code.
2

Add/Update Contact

Action

In Zapier“Adds or updates an existing contact.”

Adds a contact to LawHustle, or updates it if it already exists, so one action covers both cases.

When to use it
when leads arrive from a form or another app and should be in LawHustle before any follow-up starts.
Watch out
Mark as Lead is required, so decide up front whether these people go in as leads.
3

Add/Update Opportunity

Action

In Zapier“Adds or updates an existing opportunity.”

Creates an opportunity in a pipeline, or updates an existing one, and places it on a stage.

When to use it
to open a deal as soon as a lead comes in, or to move one forward from an event in another tool.
Watch out
Mark as Lead, Select Pipeline and Select Stage are required; inside a Zap started by Pipeline Stage Changed, changing the stage can set it off again.
4

Add Lead to Campaign

Action

In Zapier“Adds a lead to an existing campaign.”

Enrolls a lead in one of your existing LawHustle campaigns.

When to use it
right after Add/Update Contact, so a new lead starts receiving follow-up without anyone enrolling them by hand.
Watch out
Campaign is required and must already exist; the action does not create one.
5

Stop All Campaign's for Lead

Action

In Zapier“Stops all campaign for a lead.”

Halts every campaign running for a given lead at once.

When to use it
when the lead has replied or become a client, and more automated follow-up would be out of place.
Watch out
it stops every campaign for that lead at the same time, without picking.
6

Add Task

Action

In Zapier“Adds a task to the account.”

Puts a task on the account, with a title and a description.

When to use it
when an event, such as an opportunity reaching a stage, should leave a clear to-do for whoever handles the file.
Watch out
Task Title and Task Description are both required, so map something into each.
When it breaks

When it breaks

Zapier links no help article to LawHustle and records no limit of its own.

The cases below come from how Zapier works with any app and from the way LawHustle's trigger and actions meet. For other cases, see Zapier troubleshooting.

  • The Zap that feeds itself

Pipeline Stage Changed watches what Add/Update Opportunity changes. Move the stage in a Zap started by that trigger and it can fire again, burning tasks fast.
  • No backfill of earlier moves

A Zap only reacts to stage changes made after it is switched on. Opportunities that moved before are never picked up; handling them is a separate job.
  • The campaign has to exist

Add Lead to Campaign adds a lead to an existing campaign and never creates one. Campaign is required, so set the campaign up in LawHustle before the Zap runs.
  • Bulk changes held back

A sudden huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, can be held back by Zapier's flood protection instead of running all at once.

FAQ

LawHustle and Zapier: common questions

01Is the LawHustle Zapier integration free?
Yes, on the free plan, within its limits. LawHustle is not a premium app, so Zapier does not reserve it for paid plans. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and builds Zaps of one trigger and one action: Pipeline Stage Changed followed by Add Task fits. A Zap that adds a contact and then enrolls it in a campaign has two actions, so it is multi-step and needs a paid plan, as does any Zap with a filter.
02How many tasks does a LawHustle Zap use?
One per successful action. The Pipeline Stage Changed trigger never costs a task. Each LawHustle action that goes through counts once: Add/Update Contact followed by Add Lead to Campaign uses two tasks per lead. An action that fails is not billed. A few apps and actions take more than one task, so check the other steps of your Zap. The free plan's 100 tasks a month go quickly with two-action Zaps.
03Does LawHustle send stage changes to Zapier in real time?
Yes. Pipeline Stage Changed is an instant trigger: LawHustle tells Zapier the moment an opportunity changes stage, and the Zap starts right away. That holds on every plan, the free one included, because the interval grid of the plans only applies to polling triggers. The type comes from the app's own service, so there is no setting to look for in the editor. A Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt in the editor.
04What does it take to connect LawHustle to Zapier?
A LawHustle account and a Zapier account. In Zapier, open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search for LawHustle, click Add connection, then sign in to LawHustle in the tab that opens and grant access. If the Zap will touch contacts, opportunities or campaigns you do not own, your account needs read or write access to them. Add Lead to Campaign also needs a campaign that already exists in the account.
05Can Pipeline Stage Changed and Add/Update Opportunity share a Zap?
They can, but watch the loop. Pipeline Stage Changed fires when an opportunity changes stage, and Add/Update Opportunity can change that stage. If the action moves the same opportunity, the trigger can fire again, the action runs again, and the Zap keeps eating tasks. Use the action to write something other than the stage, or keep stage moves in a Zap started by another app, so the two never meet in the same run.
06What if the LawHustle operation you need is not on Zapier?
Then this integration does not cover it today. LawHustle offers one trigger, Pipeline Stage Changed, and six actions, with no search and no delete. A Zap cannot look up a contact or remove a lead, and Stop All Campaign's for Lead stops every campaign at once. If the job falls outside the seven operations listed on this page, it needs another route, outside the Zapier app for LawHustle. Check first whether an add-or-update action already covers the case.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for LawHustle?
It depends on your criteria, not on a ranking. On Zapier the facts are clear: one instant trigger, six actions, no premium restriction, and a free plan of 100 tasks a month limited to two-step Zaps. For Make and n8n, first check whether each offers a LawHustle connector and which operations it covers. Then compare what a multi-step run costs, how fast stage changes arrive, and how much setup you are ready to take on.
