Overview

What the Lead Generated Zapier integration is for

Lead Generated is an app where you submit and manage leads. Its Zapier integration works in both directions, with one operation each way: a trigger that reacts when a lead is added, and an action that adds a lead for a company. Small surface, but it covers the two moves most people want from a lead tool.

Three results you can build on those two operations. Leads that leave the app on their own: New Lead starts a Zap every time a lead is added, so a copy lands in a spreadsheet or a CRM without anyone exporting it. Leads that arrive on their own: Create Lead writes a lead for a company into Lead Generated from whatever app started the Zap, a form tool for example, so nobody retypes what was already captured. A sorted entry point: put a filter in front of Create Lead and only the entries that meet your condition become leads, which keeps the app clean.

What Zapier does not do here: there is no search, so a Zap cannot check whether a lead already exists before creating one. There is no update or delete either. Editing or removing a lead stays a job for the app itself.

One more trap specific to an app that both triggers and receives: wiring New Lead to Create Lead on the same account builds a loop. If you are still choosing your automation tool, the n8n vs Zapier and Make vs Zapier comparisons are worth a read first.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven words do most of the work on Zapier. Each one gets a single plain line here.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is switched on, Zapier waits for that event and nothing else.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, like creating a lead.
Task
What Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully, and the count on your plan counts those.
Polling vs instant
Zapier checks a polling trigger on a timer. An instant trigger is pushed by the app itself as soon as the event happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something already stored in an app, so later steps can reuse it. Lead Generated has none.
Cost

What Lead Generated costs you in tasks

The trigger is free: Zapier never bills New Lead for firing. A task is counted when an action completes, including Create Lead itself.

  • Lead Generated operations1 instant trigger, 1 action
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Premium appNo

Each successful action counts on its own, so a Zap with three actions uses three tasks per run. A failed action is not counted. Lead Generated is not a premium app and runs on the free plan: 100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps, two steps per Zap. A filter in front of Create Lead turns the Zap into a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below applies to polling triggers only; New Lead is instant and ignores it.

Connect

Connect Lead Generated to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Start from your apps

Open the Apps page of your Zapier account and click + Add connection. A connection is your Lead Generated account linked once, then reused by every step that uses the app.

  2. 02

    Find Lead Generated

Search for Lead Generated in the dialog, pick it from the list and click Add connection. A new tab opens so you can identify yourself on the Lead Generated side.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to Lead Generated in that tab and allow Zapier to use the account. You need an account on the app, plus access to any leads you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

First Zap

Your first Lead Generated Zap

GoalCopy every qualifying new lead from Lead Generated into your spreadsheet, the moment it is added.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap and pick Lead Generated as the app that starts it, with New Lead as the event. Choose the connection you set up above.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the trigger test. Zapier brings back the three most recent leads of the connected account, so you set up the rest on a real lead, not a blank one.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Add a Filter step from the plus icon and fill its three boxes: the field to look at, the rule, and the value to compare with. It makes the Zap multi-step.

  4. 04

    Add the spreadsheet

Add your spreadsheet app as the next step and pick its add-a-row action. Map the lead's details into the columns, then test the step once and read what came back.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish to switch the Zap on. Each lead that passes the filter gets its row straight away, and each row added counts as one task.

Triggers

Lead Generated trigger on Zapier

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in Lead Generated, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Lead

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new lead is added.”

Starts your Zap whenever a lead is added in Lead Generated. The lead's details become available to every step that follows, ready to copy into whatever tool comes next in the Zap.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
you want every new lead mirrored somewhere else, such as a spreadsheet or a CRM, the moment it exists, without a manual export.
Watch out
leads added before you publish the Zap never come through, and pairing this trigger with Create Lead on the same account creates a loop.
Actions

Lead Generated action on Zapier

Lead Generated gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create Lead

Action

In Zapier“Creates a Lead for a company”

Adds a lead for a company in Lead Generated, filled with whatever the earlier steps of your Zap brought in.

When to use it
leads are captured elsewhere, in a form tool for instance, and you want them in Lead Generated without retyping.
Watch out
Zapier offers no search for Lead Generated, so nothing in the Zap can look up a lead already stored there before this one is written.
When it breaks

When a Lead Generated Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to Lead Generated, so these are the general traps that hit any Zap built like this one.

They come from how Zapier works, not from Lead Generated. When one shows up, the Zapier troubleshooting page is the next stop.

  • Old leads never arrive

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Leads that already sat in Lead Generated are not picked up; moving them is a separate job.
  • The Zap feeds itself

A Zap that writes where its own trigger watches restarts again and again. New Lead plus Create Lead on one account is the classic case, and it drains tasks.
  • An import gets held back

If a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back.

FAQ

Lead Generated Zapier integration: FAQ

01Is the Lead Generated Zapier integration free?
Yes, as far as Zapier is concerned. Lead Generated is not a premium app, so both New Lead and Create Lead work on the free plan. That plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but each Zap is limited to two steps, one trigger and one action. Adding a filter, a search or a second action makes it a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. Your Lead Generated account itself is a separate matter.
02How many tasks does a Lead Generated Zap use?
It depends on where Lead Generated sits. As a trigger, New Lead costs nothing: Zapier never bills for the event that starts a Zap. As an action, each lead that Create Lead adds successfully counts as one task. Every other action in the same Zap counts on its own too, so a three-action Zap uses three tasks per run. An action that fails is not counted against your plan, so a broken step does not eat your allowance.
03Is the Lead Generated trigger real time?
Yes. New Lead is an instant trigger: Lead Generated tells Zapier as soon as a lead is added, and the Zap starts straight away. The plan interval grid, 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional and 1 on Team or Enterprise, only concerns polling triggers that Zapier checks on a timer. It does not apply here, so a free account gets the same speed as a paid one. The editor marks such Zaps with a lightning bolt.
04What does it take to connect Lead Generated to Zapier?
An account on Lead Generated, plus access to any leads you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. In Zapier, open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search for Lead Generated, click Add connection, sign in on the tab that opens and grant access. That connection is then reused by every Zap and every step that uses the app, so it is a one-time setup, not something to repeat for each new Zap.
05Why does a Lead Generated Zap keep running on its own?
Because it is probably feeding itself. A Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches sets itself off again and again. With Lead Generated, the classic case is New Lead starting a Zap whose action is Create Lead on the same account: each lead created counts as a new lead, which starts the Zap once more. Every lap is a completed action, so the task count drains fast. Keep the trigger and the action on different accounts, or send new leads to another app.
06What if the Lead Generated operation you want is missing?
Then Zapier cannot do it for this app today. The integration stops at one trigger, New Lead, and one action, Create Lead. There is no update, no delete and no search, so editing or finding an existing lead is out of reach from a Zap. What you can do is let other apps start the Zap and hand data to Create Lead, or let New Lead start a Zap that works elsewhere. The missing operations would have to come from Lead Generated itself.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Lead Generated?
Pick by criteria rather than by a winner. On Zapier you get an instant trigger and a create action that run on the free plan, set up in a few clicks. If you need branching or many steps per lead, compare what each tool bills per run and whether it offers Lead Generated at all. If hosting the automation yourself matters, that criterion points somewhere else. Weigh it against your lead volume and who will maintain the flows.
